Fay looked over the sleeping form on her couch, pacing the room as she waited for Emilia to make her way over there. She hadn’t wanted to take the girl straight to the hospital, she didn’t think that she could deal with too many people at the moment, but she would have to be looked at by a doctor at the very least. This whole thing had started two days ago. Fay had been sitting fairly innocently at her desk when she felt the sudden dizziness that was the prelude to a vision. She had a flash of a boat, the Blue Nixie, something dragged her inside of it and she was looking out of the bars of a cage, her fingers bloodied as she worked on the bottom of a bar with a file. Zooming out of the boat again, a girl shifted and broke through the weakened cage while it was being hushed out into the docklands at night...if Fay didn’t stop that particular part, she had a feeling there would be a warrant out. Then she felt a burning around her neck that could only be silver, another possible future it seemed, and a face that sent a chill down her spine. The vision and the burning sensation faded and she wanted to be sick, not as a Sid effect from having a vision but something within this particular one that had made her nauseous. She pushed it down as she grabbed a pencil and a sheet of paper and waved off the concerned looks of a couple of her colleagues as she sketched the face in the last part of her vision, hearing a whisper in her ear that was a lingering audio part of her vision, ‘Good little kittycat’. She shuddered, frowning as she shaded in facial definition. She passed it along to a lieutenant intern, telling her to run up an image on facial recognition as she hurried to the toilets. She made use of the sink, not being able to hold off the throwing up sensation any longer, and grabbed a bottle of water from the bag she had brought with her. Taking a long swig, she headed back to her desk and made another sketch, scribbling a note on the bottom when she was done and walking over to the fax machine. The note read; Emi, I had a vision and felt compelled to send this to you. Does the phrase ‘good little kittycat’ mean anything to you? It scared me, or who I was seeing her through, made me throw up, there was...something. It was connected to this woman, but I’m not sure just how. She sent the fax off and slipped the copy of the sketch with the note into her open file as she dropped it onto the desk, she had the feeling that it was perhaps not best to leave that lying around. The bust had been easy enough to organise, the visions were part of what had had her brought onto PPIT. The captain had taken money to bring the girl to France and wait for a call from a contact there, he had known his cargo, Fay was sure of that much. The cage bar had indeed snapped just as she had reached the scene, but she was able to throw her beast’s aura out to prevent the shift. The girl was feisty, or desperate, she tried to shift anyway, but she was against an alpha strong enough to be a guarda of her stalk, it was not going to happen. The woman hadn’t shown, Fay had an inkling as to why that was, she would organise a warrant upon her property anyway, if she was right then there would be nothing to be found, but she had to go through the channels. She had argued with her colleague who had wanted the girl tagged, or at least to spend the night in a cell while they tried to figure out what to do with her, but Fay had made it clear that the girl’s first experience of anyone in this country was not going to be spending a night in another cage, nor was it to be invaded in that manner, not when she was so obviously worked up as she had been that it had took Fay using a syringe full of the knockout drug she had brought with her just in case things turned ugly. What that left her with was a cougar, she knew that from the vision, and a girl of no more than perhaps twelve or thirteen sleeping on her couch having had deity alone knows what done to her. She looked at her watch for the tenth time in the past three minutes as she sat down next to the girl if only to stop pacing around her. She had made skin to skin contact with her when she had settled her down, what she had seen and felt from another vision had nearly made her drop her. As it was now she was shaking as she tried not to dwell upon it, but she felt cold inside in a way that was nothing to do with the time of year and she could feel the tears that she had held back then beginning to well. REINHA :: Queen of Thugs

Emi, I had a vision and felt compelled to send this to you. Does the phrase ‘good little kittycat’ mean anything to you? It scared me, or who I was seeing her through, made me throw up, there was...something. It was connected to this woman, but I’m not sure just how. Emilia had received the fax, but hadn’t replied to it – the remembered the phrase very well, and if anyone was going to be searching for the person who had used that, then they would be sorely disappointed. Any trace of her had already disappeared. No one would know when it happened, or who was involved, that was the beauty of having intimate knowledge of how to make things and people ‘disappear’. She still hadn’t lost the touch from the old days. Though now, she had something else to see too. Apparently there had been another young cougar found and Fay currently had her at her place. Emilia wasn’t sure of her condition; she’d just received the call from the other woman asking if she could go out there and check over the girl. Apparently she was in enough of a state to require a doctor – just lucky that the Reinha was good at what she did legally too. Pulling into the drive of Fay’s place, Emi didn’t waste time as she pulled a small medical case from the passenger seat and stepped out. She strode quickly to the front door, knocking once to be polite before opening it to let herself in. The blonde followed the fresh scents to the living room, and her eyes immediately alighted on the sleeping form on the couch before her gaze shifted to glance at Fay solemnly. She noted the glassy eyes of the other woman and spoke quietly as she set the case down, her expression serious. “Is she alright?” Her eyes flickered toward the young girl again, she was so young, probably the same age Emilia was when she’d escaped the place she been raised in. Emi didn’t walk too close, but she did approach the girl silently to inspect her without startling her, “What state was she in when you found her?” |

Fay had known that all Emilia would need was the picture of the woman, she had felt that she had to send it. She didn’t know all of what had happened to Elena, she did not pry either from her or her guardian, but she had known that the woman was not good news, the feeling that Fay had felt on seeing and hearing her whisper had been pure fear to the core. PPIT knew who she was now, they had a name and an address, Fay would have given them to Emilia had she needed it and turned a blind eye. As it was, she knew that they would not find her at home, they wouldn’t find her period. She did not have a problem with that at all, she would simply go through the proper procedures. PPIT were looking for an arrest, besides, not a victim. Fay would have risked her job if they had found her, it was that simple. She did not anger easily but once her scorn was earned, whoever had raised her ire had an enemy for life. There weren’t many people that she felt that way about, but to harm children was a quick way to the top of that list. As it was, Fay had to focus on the girl on her couch. She was beginning to stir just a little, Fay had injected her with a strong anaesthetic, but a shifter would always throw that off quicker than a human would. Fay used a little power to make her feel drowsy and her own beast to calm the girl’s as much as she could. She didn’t know just how the girl would react when she woke up, that was why Fay had brought her to her home and called Emilia, it would have been worse with people bustling around her, especially if there were men among them. Fay heard Emi pulling into her drive and she wiped her eyes, though she wouldn’t hide that they were glossy, she couldn’t keep from Emilia when something had upset her. She bit her lip as Emilia asked her if the girl were alright, giving her a rundown of what she had been able to find out up until now, “Physically, maybe, I won‘t know for sure until she wakes up, though I‘ve used a little energy to do what I can and keep going myself. I had to use anaesthetic to put her under, she pushed against me so hard to shift at the docks and she was simply not going to give up until she hurt herself.” She pushed a part of her fringe out of her eyes, the girl had been desperate to escape and she could only imagine why, “I’ll need to know if the captain or crew of the ship she was brought in on did anything more than leave her in the cage she was in and I couldn’t let just anyone do it, primarily because I don’t know how she’ll react to anything going on around her when she wakes up. From what I picked up from her, they won‘t have been the first if anything has happened.” She had the crew in custody, she couldn’t deal with them tonight, the vision from her contact with the girl had shaken her too badly. “Her fingertips are grazed, she used a file to break out of where she was being kept but those should heal. A little more worrying are her hands as a whole, I think the bar she pushed against was silver. She was infected, not born as she is, I couldn’t tell you when, but she's been badly treated since, there's at least one burn mark on her leg, she could do with checking for any others. I don’t want to try and pick up anything else from her psychically at the moment. The last thing I saw she was locked in a cage with, I think, her mother with the moon about to rise.” That, more than anything, had Fay upset, she could guess what had happened next, especially with how emotionally charged the vision was. She sniffed, regaining a little of her composure, “I think we saved her from worst, that vision a couple of days ago, the woman made my skin crawl, but all in all, it's quite possibly an understatement to say that she’s not in the best shape emotionally.” Edited by Fay Josselyn, Dec 21 2008, 11:18 AM.

REINHA :: Queen of Thugs

Inspecting the girl, it was obvious right away that she’d been treated rather harshly, something that made the blonde’s beast scowl slightly inwardly. If there was one thing that got Emi’s blood boiling it was the mistreatment of young people, especially in certain situations. It struck way too close to home and she never wanted to see other children subjected to it... ever. She knew that Fay must have picked something up from her too, just the way the other woman was trying to cover up how upset she was. It was difficult to hide much from an empath and telepath. The doctor listened to the other woman’s recount of what had occurred, with a small frown in her features. She didn’t approach the girl just yet, she didn’t want to accidentally startle her, but she did allow her aura to spread carefully in the room. It was a calming feeling in order to let the girl know she was safe and secure – the kind of feeling that a mother cat would give off for her own offspring. Hearing more about the condition and that she wasn’t sure if anything had happened while in the custody of the crew, Emilia frowned slightly as she moved closer very cautiously. The blonde knelt down on the floor beside the young girl, her eyes taking everything in before she began to lift her hand slightly. Though she hesitated. She didn’t really need to touch the girl to pick up on her thoughts if she didn’t want to, but there was something more to it. They were feline, touch was supposed to be a comfort, not a fear. It was different with this one, very different, she could already tell. Emi glanced up at Fay as she spoke softly, “How long has she been out? I will have to assess her fully to find out just how much damage has been done.” She spoke professionally despite the inner turmoil at the idea of it. Emi didn’t share her personal past with others, there were probably only a couple of people she’d ever actually told the story to. Even Fay didn’t know the full story of her Reinha’s past and how these situations truly affected her. Nevertheless, she would have to do it. It was too much to ask for someone else to. At least she had the experience; it affected her less than it would most people who’d not been there themselves. Perhaps she as desensitised to a degree. Still... “I will need to give her a thorough physical check up, but not until she wakes up properly. It would not be good for her to come to with a strange person – anyone – touching her.” Emi knew for a fact. “But I will need to probe her to see if anything has happened while on the ship, which I can do now.” |

Fay had never been sexually abused, either as a child or as an adult, and she was very thankful for that. As her psychic talents had become more pronounced and as her friends had been through their own trials, it had been the people that could do this kind of thing that had pushed her into fulfilling her childhood wish of becoming a police officer. Seeing what had happened to the girl on the couch in front of her now, both in terms of her physical well being and what she had picked up from her vision, it had made her blood boil. She knew that she was never going to hide just what state she was in from Emilia, other than their friendship, Fay knew from personal experience that it was hard to hide such from a psychic, but if she let herself show any more, then it would all come out and she would be of no use to anybody for a few days. Fay picked up a little on the feeling that Emilia was projecting towards the girl and it helped her a little, she hoped that it helped the girl who it had been intended for more. Touch had always helped Fay since her infection, but in the moments before the anaesthetic had fully took hold, the girl had been frightened and had been so without relenting. There was nothing that Fay could do physically to reassure her, the best she had been able to do was a lesser form of what Emi was at the moment. She thought for a moment as Emilia asked how long the girl had been out, “It took around half an hour to get here from the docks, I probably spent around fifteen there after putting her to sleep. After all that, I called you pretty much as soon as I laid her down on the couch. She stirred a little earlier but I gave her a little magical aid in sleeping which might give us around ten minutes or so from now if I don’t do so again, if I’m going to sleep well tonight, and I booked the morning off after how what I had seen took me, I can likely give us up to an hour more if that is necessary.” That she had booked the morning off told clearly enough just how shaken she currently was, she was a workaholic by nature. Had Fay known more of Emilia’s history than she did, she would have pushed on to find the information she needed herself or she would have asked someone else to if that was really not at all possible. She had called Emilia because she trusted her more than anyone and the fact that she was a doctor helped, but she would not have willingly risked her reliving anything of that nature, however much it might have desensitised her or no. She nodded as Emilia told her what she would need to do, “As said, I can likely give us anywhere between ten minutes to an hour more, but yes, I agree that she does need to be awake if she is in need of a check up.” She wasn’t speaking about ethical reasons, though there were those, the girl legally should give consent for such a thing, but Fay didn’t need to have been in that position to at least guess that for the girl to find someone touching her would not be a good idea in the slightest. |

REINHA :: Queen of Thugs
|
This was probably going to be a long night, already Emilia could tell and she was glad that Marcy was able to stay at the estate with the girls – it seemed she got to see them less and less sometimes. At least she had a scheduled day off in a couple of days; it would be devoted to Nina and Elena. This was important though, no matter how close it hit to home for the young woman. It had been barely over ten years since she’d escaped that kind of life – and while so much had changed in such a short time, it was a short time and many of her own memories were still fresh. Hopefully the aura she spread out carefully would keep the girl calmed for a while longer. Emi added up the times that Fay gave her plus the time it took for her to get there since the call, and nodded her head slowly, still careful not to touch the girl yet, “So she has been out of it for a while. Does she have any idea that she had been moved or anything? I imagine her waking in a strange place will come as a shock to her. I will keep my aura cast out strongly to see if it has any effect on her beast though. She may stay calm if her other half is.” The Reinha was glad to hear that Fay had already called in the morning off, she could sense how disturbed she was by it all and would need the extra rest, not to mention this girl was going to need some watching for a time. Emi would offer to take her to her place, but with Nina and Elena there it might be a bit much for her right away. “Non, if she begins to stir again allow her to wake up. I need to see to the physical side of things as soon as possible just in case, and I do not wish to while she is asleep. I think she will stay out long enough for me to scan her memories anyway.” Emilia held back the grimace that threatened to take hold of her features as she dropped her shields and allowed herself to touch inside the girl’s mind, already knowing what she would find before she even had to concentrate. Images and sensations crawled through Emi’s mind and body, many of them bringing her own memories to surface. Despite the inner turmoil though, she kept a calm exterior and spoke softly to Fay, “Nothing happened to her on the journey, it was a simple transport job, nothing more.” Pushing herself back to her feet as she began to pull back on her power a little, Emilia was certain she could feel the lashes on her back as fresh as the day they were made and tried not to make herself look obviously uncomfortable. However, she couldn’t stop the nausea that threatened and turned toward the hallway, “I will be right back, chere.” Her voice cracked slightly and she made her way to the guest bathroom, where she closed the door and retched over the sink for a moment, forcing back the tremors that would take hold if she didn’t push down the trauma of the girl’s life that mixed so well with her own. It was the bad thing about sharing that kind of history – it was difficult to distinguish the differences sometimes. Washing her face and mouth out when she’d settled, Emi took a deep breath before leaving the bathroom and heading back out, “Okay, I will need to check the physical side of things.” Falling into her professional side made it easier to move past the worse images, so that was what she did. |

Fay knew that Emilia was seeing her girls less and less with one thing or another and she would not have called her had she and the girl on her couch not badly needed her. She also suspected that it hit a little close to home and she regretted that she couldn’t have done this by herself all the more for that, even if she didn’t know the full extent. Had she known just what Emilia had been through in her youth, Fay would have pushed on herself as much as it had already affected her. It was plain to see that she had also benefited from the calming aura that Emilia was putting out, she’d have taken issue with anyone else trying that around her, but she certainly needed it tonight. She frowned and shook her head as Emilia asked if the girl knew that she had been moved, “No, I needed to put her out to stop her hurting herself or anyone else.” She ticked herself off mentally, “I didn’t think of that but I couldn’t think of anything else to do.” She was not whining about that, it was a simple fact, she couldn’t have left her there and the alternative was perhaps a PPIT cell followed by being tagged probably with her in not the best state for such an operation. She nodded as Emilia said that she might stay calm if her other half did, it made sense. Fay was usually one to push on with work regardless, but other than the fact that the young Cougar definitely needed someone to keep an eye on her, Fay would simply have been no good to anyone in the state what she had seen had left her in. Her eyes were glistening, she had thrown up in the sink after seeing what she had. She agreed with Emilia saying that she needed to be awake, “I thought that would be the case, I had tried to put her out roughly until you could come with a little extra to give room for deciding what needed to be done.” Jasmine was already stirring briefly, though the spell that had been laid upon her didn’t lift quite yet. She was visibly relieved to hear that nothing had happened to her on the journey at least, “I can call that in the other side of sleep, and probably decide whether she and I both need me to take the full day away from work then.” It was something that she was taking a half day, her superior would know how badly this had affected her given that she had barely used a day of leave over the years that she had been on the team were she to take that time away. Having noted how careful Emilia had been not to touch the girl, Fay followed her example as she went to use her bathroom, she could guess that what Emilia had seen had disturbed her somewhat, but she gave her her privacy, not asking into it if Emilia didn’t give her invitation to when she came back, she knew that fay would always listen to her if such were needed. She also noted Emilia falling into her professional side and was as she did that Jasmine’s eyes fluttered open, though other than a soft couch, she would have no idea of her surroundings just yet. |
