Looking reluctantly at Jason, Cara glaced at Nova's retreating back. Every fibre of her being protested leaving the Ulfric alone with the vampire still in sight, but even the Geri couldn't defy a direct order. Turning around, Cara waved everyone close, giving the assembled wolves a slight smile. "Well that was exciting, but the Ulfric wants us kiddos back at the Pack House. Follow me. Matt, if you could take the back that'd be marvelous." turning, Cara signed interrnally, stepping out of the Lupanar. She didn't look back to see if the Bolverk took the back like she asked, nor did she look to see if anyone else but the submissives followed her. If they didn't, Jason could certainly send them along. She really didn't trust herself with dealing with any errant wolves at this point. The Geri picked her way through the woods, heading on an angle towards the driveway of the Pack house. Even with teh proximity to the Lupanar, the house was still a good 15 minute or so walk, made longer by her decision to swing for the driveway rather then the more direct path to the house. It was late, and she didn't feel like picking her way over bushes and fallen trees in her thin hospital scrubs. It took them a good few minutes to break out of the trees and onto the less dense driveway, the Geri a few feet ahead of the rest of the Pack as she thought. What bothered her most was Nova's assertation of government officials taking over the Pack. The thought disturbed her, on a lot of levels. The first and foremost was safety: she didn't know how a human would survive in the Lupanar, especially if there were younger, more inexperianced shifters around. The second and the rest was mostly rightous indignation that they would try to take them over, when the Lukoi had caused no toruble in recent years. Shaking her head, the woman climbed up on the steps of the Pack house, opening the door for the others. "Go on in. I'll be in when Jason gets here." she said, holding the door for a moment before going to lean against one of the support beams of the porch while she waited for the Ulfric. Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Joss moved as Matt's wolven form moved to sit. Keeping herself pressed against him and feeling him press back. As the Vamp retreated, the call ended, the tiny blonde's tightened stress body began to relax a little against the grey wolf. She too was worried about what the blonde Vamp had said about the government sending someone to govern them. The whole pack? Who would take on such an act as a human. They could not govern a pack. That was Jason's right or Cara's if he was unavailble. Joss just couldn't grasp the concept at all. When Cara called for everyone to follow her back to the pack house as Jason wanted Joss stood a little taller. Slightly embarrassed that they would walk in to find the house in a bit of shambles as she had been trying to finish up the painting in the main room. The smell of paint fumes was liable to irritate them all. But there was nothing she could do now as the majority of the pack started following Cara there. Joss was torn in leaving Matt's side to run ahead and try and at least pick things up, cover the paint cans, but still shaken she didn't want to leave Matt. But as Cara gave instructions for Matt to bring up the rear Joss sighed. "I'll see you there." Joss whispered to Matt Turning to give his neck another hug before she jetted off. Moving quickly through the line of wolves and humans making there way towards the pack house. She was kind of thankful when Cara lead them the long ways around towards coming up the Drive. Joss then broke off, perhaps not the smartest thing seperating herself from the group yet again, but with the task of cleaning up quickly she wasn't thinking about much else. Fast as she was she easily jumped and ran through brush and downed trees to cut towards the front door. Slightly ahead of the group Cara was leading Joss ran into the house, leaving the door open behind her she moved quickly to start covering the paint cans and pushing them into the corner. Picking up the dirty paint brushes and paint buckets and moving them out of the way and into a dining room corner. As people started filtering in Joss stood in the dining room archway apologizing. "Sorry about the fumes. I'll open the windows so it'll air out. Sorry... Sorry." She said to all in passing. |

He kept his watch on the Pack, gauging their reactions to what they had heard. Some were outraged, others afraid, angry, worried. The gamut of emotions was running through the Pack. Matthew didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing, and his gaze turned to settle on Jason as he addressed them all. His instructions were simple, Pack meeting at the safe house. He wondered what the Ulfric was thinking about the situation. Right now it seemed like a numbers game. If the government was going to actively interfere with the Pack, Matthew saw no way to avoid it. The Government far outnumbered the Pack; hell, probably all of the shifters in Paris. There wasn’t much they could if that was the case. Jason would be able to figure out the right decision though, there was a reason he was the leader, and he would do what needed to be done to help the Pack in its entirety. Matthew would offer any assistance if the Ulfric needed it; the Bolverk could be counted on to do anything that was asked of him. This was also the case when it came to the Geri asking him to do something. Giving Cara a wolfish grin, Matthew nodded his head a few times towards her. His eyes then followed the Pack as they too began following Cara out of the Lupanar. Joss whispered in his ear then, giving his neck another hug. He turned towards her, that big wolfish grin still there, and gave her a big ole’ lick letting her know he’d be right there before she went off. Matthew himself would stay sitting sentinel until the Pack was gone save himself and Jason. Scenting the wind to verify the undead bloodsucker was gone; Matthew stood up and growled low towards Jason. It was just an acknowledgement that he was the last, and Matthew was going to go on towards the pack’s safe house. He’d follow the rest back, pausing long enough to shift back to his human form, gather his clothing, put it on, and then head into the safe house. He grinned again at Joss, human this time. “Jason’s the only one left. We should be ready shortly to hear whatever it is he wants to talk to us about.” |

Ulfric // Emi's Beau
|
((sorry for the wait, was waiting for everyone to have their chance to post over the holidays)) After several minutes had passed, Jason emerged from the tree line to the clearing in which the Pack safe house sat. The vampire's card was in his pocket though he would tell no one that he had picked it up. It was simply there to have for the moment and as a small sign of good faith, even if Nova had not see the Ulfric pick it up. "That's not waiting inside, Cara." He spoke quietly while mounting the steps, his boots echoing hollowly on the boards until he was standing next to his Geri. Jason regarded her for a moment, forcing a small smile to his face though the humor did not reach his eyes. He was concerned, worried, angry and annoyed all rolled into one; the emotions betrayed by his eyes even if his features were schooled otherwise. Without saying more he stepped toward the door and held the screen door open for Cara to enter before he would follow after her. The scent of paint mingled in with the musk of the gathered wolves, though the cool night breeze that swept through the large family room helped to relieve the otherwise toxic smell from the work Jocelyn had been doing. Regardless it was almost amazing to see the entire Pack within the house; perhaps not all were accounted for but the vast majority were there. The Ulfric moved to stand in front of where the wolves were facing, not letting the fact that there were a multitude of eyes on him bother him. Jason both looked and felt as if he had the entire world on his shoulders right then as he looked to the ground while mentally preparing himself for the news ahead. He drew in a deep breath and closed his eyes briefly. Jason had to tell them and yet he still needed to be there for them; to be their support and help guide them. At least if he was allowed to be. 'Damnit... why did it have to come to this? What went wrong...' Opening his eyes and exhaling slowly, Jason lifted his head to look over the Pack, "In light of what happened tonight with the vampire, I can't believe what I am about to say..." His eyes flickered to Cara for a moment before he looked back, "Due to the size and diversity of the Pack and to ensure full cooperation... a government official has been assigned to take control of the werewolves of Paris." The woods were quiet, save for the rustling of the trees and the sounds of small animals scurrying through the bush. Cara's sensitive hearing also picked up the sounds of Joss talking inside the house, and the creaks of the settling house as the Pack settled down. She was tense, arms folded across her chest as she waited for the Ulfric to appear out of the woods. She could tell something was wrong; not just with the Nova appearance, but there was something else bothering him. There had been for days, although he hadn't mentioned anything to her. There was also a bit of shame in the Geri, embarrassment at not being able to control herself more. It wasn't a normal occourance for the woman, loosing control of her beast. She was tired; she'd worked two double shifts in a row, and there was the added stress of Iveriot's election weighing down on her. Followed by the Call, it had pushed the wolf over the edge and she'd lost control. It wasn't a good sign for the Geri. She'd been even more ashamed when Nova called her on it, although she knew Jason would understand. Still, she was ashamed. Running her hands through her hair, the woman let out a long sigh, her eyes closing for a moment. She relaxed slightly as Jason's scent reached her nose, and her eyes opened watching as the Ulfric walked up to the house. She said nothing as he chastised her for waiting outside, simply shrugged before walking through the open door. Heading for the back of the room, Cara leaned against the wall, watching as Jason took a stand in the front. She'd assumed that he just wanted to reassure everyone that no one had to go to Nova, and that he would keep the Pack away from the vampire. Which was why what he said next was such a big surprise for her. "Due to the size and diversity of the Pack and to ensure full cooperation... a government official has been assigned to take control of the werewolves of Paris." The Geri couldn't believe her ears for a moment. She stood, frozen in shock before she shoved her way off the wall. "Excuse-moi?" she spat out, in French. Anger roiled off of her, hot and fresh. Most of it was anger at the Government. The Pack had done nothing wrong in recent years; it was persecution in her mind. But there was an underlying current to the anger: anger at Jason for not telling her sooner. She wasn't simply a Pack Wolf. She was supposed to be his second, supposed to help him. Her breath came quick and fast as she stared at him, still unbelieving. He should have told her sooner, at least so it wouldn't be a surprise to the woman. They should have put on a united front; but they didn't. And underlining all that anger was fear. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
She nodded as Matt came in bringing up the rear of the group. She smiled seeing him once again in human form. His shifts came so natural and easy to him if she had a bit more self esteem she might actually be jealous of it. But instead it was just one more thing that mad him great in her eyes. The living room was jammed with the rest of the pack and so she reached out to take Matt’s hand and tugged him into the dining room where they could cut through into the kitchen. There she let go of Matt’s hand to hoist herself up onto the island in the middle of the kitchen. There was no walls, only counters that seperated it from the living room. So from here, though she was not pressed in with the rest of the pack she would still have optimum viewing. Her attention turned as Cara entered the living room. Moving towards the back to lean against the wall. Seeing her there Joss knew Jason wasn’t far behind and when he entered the room her eyes were all for him. As it seemed everyone else in the pack’s were. At Jason’s simple statement Joss’s eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. Fear soon returned at Cara’s sudden exclamation. If Cara was not happy about this it certainly wasn’t a good thing. But what did that mean? A government official assigned to control them? They were bringing in another Ulfric, one that worked for the government? Or they were trying to put a human in that position? But he wouldn’t protect them. He was part of a government who probably wanted to destroy them. Joss was no fool to think that even though Iveriot didn’t campaign for direct killing of preternatural her methods wouldn’t end in the same way. It would just be a longer more torturous goal. The woman was probably some kind of sadist. Joss was confused though how a government official would take control of them. Were they expected to report to him? Go to him with their problems? What if there was a challenge for position in the pack? No this couldn’t be a good thing. Not at all. Joss’s shook as she sat there as she was very scared about what the future could possibly hold. She was the bottom of the pack here. She could not say anything. Question anything. She could only accept what her Ulfric and those that were dominant to her told her to do. But she also tried to be as law abiding as possible. This was not good not good at all. Her eyes moved from Jason to Cara to Matt. She was nothing in this pack but they were decision makers of the pack. What did this mean for them? Joss’s mind scrambled thinking about all different possible situations and scenarios. None of them were good. Joss could smell the fear rising around her, and anger. Well at least she wasn’t the only one scared. |

Matt followed Joss through the house, staying to the outskirts of the Pack with practiced ease. He wasn’t completely accepted, nor did he really fit in all that well, proven, he felt, by his actions tonight. He still wasn’t adjusted to the needs of a group that had members trying actively to hide what they were outside of the Pack grounds. He could have blown it for a lot of them, having seen the vampire in question on the television, with such a figure head mysteriously vanishing. He preferred action to sitting still, he couldn’t help it. Finally the last two of the Pack were in, and Matt leaned up against the edge of the counter Joss was sitting on. Folding his arms over his chest, Matt simply remained quiet and listened. "Due to the size and diversity of the Pack and to ensure full cooperation... a government official has been assigned to take control of the werewolves of Paris." For a moment Matt thought he misheard what the Ulfric was trying to say. Cara’s comment though was evidence enough that he had heard right. His inner wolf and human both agreed on what he should do. Run. It wasn’t that he was scared of the government or really scared at all. It was just some instinct deep inside of him that urged the Bolverk to leave. He wouldn’t, but the uncertainty was there. He knew what the government would do. His old gang had finally been torn apart sometime after he had left on the orders of some government official. The same would happen here he felt. Indecision tore at him as he looked around at his Packmates. His face was emotionless, unreadable as a wall as he pushed himself off of the edge of the counter to stand straight. “Fuck that. Let their little official come. Whoever they send won’t last long, and they won’t find them.” Matthew’s tightly controlled anger was only just kept in check as he moved out of the kitchen towards the front door they had all just entered from a few minutes ago. He didn’t look back as he stepped out and onto the porch, though he didn’t go any further than the edge either, still listening to any other news that might come from inside. |

Ulfric // Emi's Beau
|
"Excuse-moi?" The Ulfric's gaze lifted and moved toward Cara at her sudden outburst. He could feel the anger from her and he knew that it was well justified. Jason had taken it upon himself not to share with Geri the bad news or even discuss it with her beforehand. While he did feel guilty he wondered if it really would have done any good. Was there anything that they could do at all? Jason looked back at her and knew full well that he would be hearing her opinions sooner or later. Either in front of the entire Pack or even private. “Fuck that." The Bolverk was next and not too surprising either as Jason directed his gaze to the feral-like male, "Let their little official come. Whoever they send won’t last long, and they won’t find them.” saying nothing, Jason only watched as the man departed from the room and then out the front door. Doubting he would go far, he returned his attention to the rest of the Pack that was now buzzing with concern, fear and anger. "The official is human. While I'm not sure what they plan on doing to control us we have to be careful. The last thing I want is for any of you to be put in harms way or have your lives turned upside down because of this." Addressing all of them, his eyes moved about the room to take in each werewolf as he spoke, "As you know the Pack and the Stalk are on friendly terms and the Reinha of the cougars has agreed to allow those who wish to use Stalk land during the Full Moon..." He fell silent for a moment. Why did that sound like running away to him? The Pack being forced from their home did not sit well with him, "I don't like the idea myself but those of you who have family and children... it would allow you to shift in secret because I don't know how or if the official will try to come to the Lupanar. We can also work with the Reinha to take care of any tag issues or even medical records." "While I'm not saying you have to cooperate... I don't want any bloodshed over this either..." His gaze flickered toward the front door where Matthew was. |

The bitter taste in the Geri’s mouth intensified. So he’d spoken to Emi about it. He’d spoken to Emi about it and they’d come up with a plan, decided something for the Pack. Without consulting her or telling her beforehand. Cara was shocked at the amount of hurt that welled up from the information. Emi wasn’t Pack. She’d made that abundantly clear to Cara whenever the wolf had teased her about being Lupa. So, needless to say, Emi and Jason making decisions about the Pack made her…angry, to say the least. The Geri’s eyes flashed angrily as her jaw unclenched long enough to grate out what she had to say. “Well, I’m glad you and the Reinha have come to a decision. If you’ll excuse me, I’ll just go home and sit on my ass until you decide you need me for something, like a good little doggy.” she snapped. Spinning on her heel, the woman marched outside, slamming the door open with more force then necessary. She stormed passed Matt without a glance at the Bolverk, sure he’d heard everything that was said. The woman paused for a moment, staring at the trees in front of her. She wanted to run; the beast inside of her was nervous, angry, pacing back and forth, putting her more on edge. Clambering down the porch steps, the woman made the decision to shift. The instant her feet hit the grass, the woman shimmered, replaced by the black wolf form that was her beast. The animal shook, her clothes left in a crumpled heap on the ground before she took off running into the forest. She needed to run; clear her head. Jason could call her if he wanted her. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Joss felt more fearful as Matt left her side to storm outside. The wave of anger and unease growing in the room to make the submissive feel even more fearful. Her legs pulled up towards her chest, her arms wrapping around them so she was pulled up into a little ball on the counter. When the Geri, Cara, made some snide remarks that were clearly about not being included in the decision making Joss grew even more worried. Her eyes flickered towards the door as Cara followed the way of Matt, before her eyes snapped back to Jason. He spoke of protecting those who wished to remain hidden but her mind was going into overdrive. If no wolves were tagged that might cause a bigger problem. In that it was known they were a large group. But if no one was tagged of them they might all be put down on the spot. She had nothing to hide, for the only people she cared about or presumably cared about her were pack themselves. She could be tagged, and she lived a fairly boring life that she knew they could not pin her for anything. "What about those of us who do not need to hide? Should we be tagged? It will be very suspicious if no wolves are tagged." Joss asked her voice still shaky and fearful. Barely loud enough over the murmurs and concerns of the others. Joss hadn't thought though that she did have something to hide. With the chip... the tracker they could trace her to this home. That was suppose to be their sanctuary. Which shouldn't be discovered. But if this human came to the lupanar itself... how long could they truly keep it hidden? Joss didn't want to get tagged but she would rather she do it then one of the others that had family or jobs to protect. |

”I don’t want any bloodshed over this either…” Matt snorted to himself, what did the Ulfric expect him to do? Was he to just sit on his ass and do nothing while everything he was just coming to enjoy was laid to siege by some government lackey of that new bitch of a president? They’d see about that. The severity of the official and their snooping around would dictate whether he took action or not. If things stayed normal, then he’d do nothing…if things took a turn for the worse however, he was willing to be reprimanded for disobeying orders. Matthew’s head turned as Cara slammed the door open and stepped outside. He could hardly disagree with the woman. She was second in command of the Pack, and she hadn’t been consulted on this. But the cat had been, and that didn’t settle well with the Bolverk. He understood their relationship, or at least as much of it as he could, and he also understood why he had spoken to her about it. He did feel, however, that Cara should have been there when the conversation happened. He remained silent when she went passed him without a glance or word, the heat of her anger enough to kill if looks could do so. Moments later her clothes were all that had been left as he watched the black shape meld into the darkness surrounding the pack’s safe house. He listened with some pride as Joss spoke up about submitting to the tagging process. He didn’t agree with the tagging, but he understood her position, and her reasoning behind it. He knew the reason the wolves were being targeted was because they were such a large group. And if none were tagged, there would be issues. This Iveriot seemed the type to not let things go lightly, and who knew what would happen if none of the wolves were tagged. |

Ulfric // Emi's Beau
|
“Well, I’m glad you and the Reinha have come to a decision. If you’ll excuse me, I’ll just go home and sit on my ass until you decide you need me for something, like a good little doggy.” The Ulfric's eyes snapped from the door to Cara in an instant. Her sudden outburst catching the man by surprise and only then could Jason sense the wash of anger rolling off the woman. Before he could even fully comprehend what she had said, the petite blonde was out the door. Even from where he stood Jason could see her as she moved past Matthew. "Cara...?" She had dropped out of sight briefly before a black wolf emerged and took to the woods. Jason recognized it easily as Cara's shifted form and there was no use in him calling after her. Not in front of the rest of the Pack who seemed to be a mass of confusion, anger and fear. The man could smell it on the air and it did little to ease him. Even less so now that his second was not at his side. Cara sounded offended that he had apparently spoken to Emily about the ordeal and the official. But at the same time, he had only heard about the official just a few hours earlier. Perhaps he should have contacted his Geri first. "What about those of us who do not need to hide? Should we be tagged? It will be very suspicious if no wolves are tagged." Jocelyn's voice caught the Ulfric's attention, drawing his gaze away from the door. He remained silent a moment before speaking, "It's complicated Joss. If you wish to be tagged then that is your choice and you may do so voluntarily. Yes it would look suspicious if no wolves are tagged and that is more than likely the reason why the official has been appointed." He drew in a deep breath, pausing once again before continuing, "I will be voluntarily getting tagged as part of my job. But I also wanted to offer you all the choice of seeking refuge outside of the Lupanar for shifts and if you wish to remain hidden." "For now however, I think we've all had a long night and I won't keep you any longer. You all know where to find me and how to contact me or Cara if you wish to further discuss this. But please do not be afraid. We are wolves and we support each other. I'll do all that I can to make sure you all are safe." Jason spoke the words and yet in the back of his mind he wondered if he could really do it. Could he keep them all safe? He supposed it did not matter. It was his duty to them as Ulfric and he would protect them or die trying. Shortly after the wolves began to disperse to go back to their lives. Jason watched for a few minutes before he departed from the house as well. Instead of going to his Blazer though, he decided to go for a walk alone. |
