Description: Homo arcanus, also known as Fairies, the Fey (also spelled 'fae') are a group of mostly immortal beings who have the ability to use magic. Sidhe Pronounced 'she', they are seen as guardians of a particular area (such as a glen or hill) or plant (i.e. the hawthorn tree or a rose). They are separated into two distinct groups, the Seelie (also called High Court or the Daoine Sidhe) and the Unseelie. * To most, the Seelie are seen as the 'good' court, the court that has as little contact as possible with humans... at least, not with commoners. * The Unseelie, however, are seen as a darker, subgroup of Sidhe who often use their powers to feed from the various energies of their surroundings, including and not limited to humans. * Sidhe are notoriously hard to kill. Most appear human like; their most striking feature is an otherworldly beauty. They are basically Immortal, aside from their weaknesses (see below). They stop aging at a certain point, and stay at that age in appearance. * Full-blooded & strong half-blooded sidhe are impossible to turn into vampires. (though there are exceptions...) Physical Characteristics * Tall - true blodded sidhe are naturally tall, the average height is around six foot or just above * 'Glow' - there is a luminescence to their natural skin colour. Usually a radiant golden 'sun' colour is reserved for those recognised as Seelie, while a softer pale white 'moon' colour points one out as Unseelie. Of course there are odd accountances of those from either Court having the colour of their opposites * Hair - it can be basically ANY colour at all, and is usually naturally kept long as a symbol of status and beauty (but can be glamoured to look shorter of course) * Eyes - all pure blooded sidhe have tri-coloured eyes * Seelie - Usually fairer-haired, more 'summery' and 'innocent' looking * Unseelie - Usually darker colouring to contrast their more pale complexion, more 'wintery' and 'dangerous' looking (naturally, if passing as human, they glamour these features to look more plain or totally different depending on the strength of their personal glamour skills) Weaknesses * Cold forged iron * Lead * Salt ~ Glamour (and many spells) can be defeated by the use/presence of salt or a magical ointment placed on the eyelids or other sensory input areas Powers * Glamour ~ the power to make one's self fascinating, alluring, or attractive * Spells and Charms ~ i.e. magical incantations or potions * Enhanced strength and speed ~ faster and stronger than humans * Immunity from silver ~ ("The metal of the moon is a friend to the fey." - Magnus Bouvier, Bloody Bones pg. 155 ) * Personal powers ~ Hands of power, powerful fey can possess one, but occasionally can have two, they usually relate to the certain type of power or heritage of the fey (ie: sexuality, life, death, blood, one of the elements, plants, animals, etc) Warning! If ever you make a deal with one of the Fey, and you break your word, the deal is void and they have the right to exact vengeance. Justice from an immortal creature may not stop only with you, it might apply to your descendants. Having contact with any Fey creature leaves you changed for life; for better... or for worse. ~~~ For RD, please keep the following in mind: In the books, it is stated that the Fae are illegal in the US, which would mean that the courts are essentially located elsewhere in the world. In discussion with the members, it was decided that the main courts would be located in Ireland. If the Fae show up in Paris, they are simply there of their own will for business/pleasure/other, and/or they have been cast out of the court for indescretions or some other breech of rules. Creating a fey wouldn't be much different to creating a master vampire, since the hand/s of power are like master abilities anyway, and not all fey have a Hand of Power. If anyone decides they want to create a lesser fey, they would have to state what kind of power they've inherited, and whether they're of the Seelie or Unseelie Court in the application. |
