When wounded by other non-humans, they heal at a human rate. Being given the weretiger gene is considered a high reward - if given to someone who isn't valued it is considered a sin to other weretigers. Weretiger families prefer to keep the gene amoungst themselves - which often leads to unwanted arranged marriages & abductions of other weretigers. There is only one extremely small clan of weretigers in France, but there are also lone weretigers. Most weretigers homeschool their kids, and are very isolationist. In the clans a female mates with only one male tiger. During pregnancy, in order to keep from shifting, the female must pass her beast into a male - something both the males and females are trained to do while growing up. Depending on individual clans, tigers may be forbidden from using abortion inducing contraceptive methods, and can be prevented from doing anything to the baby. Children are very important. Each female is expected to bear at least one child (two or more being preferable) . Weretigers are born with the same colour eyes as their beast - it determines the strength and purity of their bloodline. Born weretigers usually do not shift for the first time until their early teens, but can also shift as early as 9 years of age. Inter-family marriages are a common thing in tiger clans, in order to keep their strain of tiger lycanthropy 'pure'. Once a 'Little Queen' puts her call out, then she is essentially starting her own clan. Whether she is allowed to do so or killed off is the choice of the Queen she is still under. A strong Queen can block the call from reaching the males in her clan. The correct name for a group is an 'Ambush' or a 'Streak' of tigers. Shakti The tiger Queen - once announced as such, all available males are instinctually attracted to her until she chooses a mate (unless she already has one). She is the ultimate leader unless her mate proves more dominant. Shiva: The male leader, or 'father' of the Ambush, a position inherited by becoming the mate/husband of the Queen. Depending on their dominance, will either be under, lead beside, or lord over the Queen. Sita 'Little Queen' - a female who is dominant enough to eventually be able to break off from the clan to start her own, after giving birth to at least one child. Rama The mate/husband of the Sita. Deva(M) or Devi(F) : One who becomes a leader of an Ambush through power, usually by overthrowing the former leader through force, nullifying the titles of Shiva/Shakti/Rama/Sita from the Ambush for a short time until either announced as the new Queen (if female), or chooses a dominant female as a mate who then becomes Shakti. Yama(M) or Kali(F) Literally known as 'death bringers', the position(s) is that of bodyguard(s), as well as punisher(s) Lakshmi The 'nursemaid' or nurturer of the children who're born into the clan, usually because she is too old or cannot have children of her own
