Rats
- A group of Rats is called the Rodere - but they refer to each other as a Mischief (under the current ruling at least).
- The leader is called the King or Queen. It is uncommon to have both but it is possible (obviously a partner bust be approved by the current monarch).
- The Rodere are a dictatorship - whatever the king or queen says, goes.
- For whatever reason, wererats have a reputation of being full of soliders & mercenaries.
- Infecting anyone accidentally, or on purpose, that is not approved by the King/Queen is a punishable-by-death offense. Cases may be brought to the monarch for their consideration, a plea in the 'Rodere Court' itself may grant you other punishments beside death.
- Rat 'courts' are organised according to the whim of their leaders.
- In general Rodere exhibit abilities such as; chewing through anything, natural escape artists, quick hands, higher intelligence, etc etc. Some even are natural stashers.
- Most Rodere make excellent spies, assassins, guards, thieves given the nature of their infection.
- In Paris, the current monarch (Queen Mai 'the Magnificent') tends to have a fairly laissez-faire attitude to organisation, using the Rodere pack structure as a parody of a medieval court, complete with crowns, thrones and knights.
- The current Parisian Rodere seem to gravitate towards the porn industry (more because Mai likes to make sure all her ratlings are in productive employment, rather than any innate predilection). While this is usually the case of most Rodere members, it is not the general rule.
RODERE HIERARCHY
Rat King/Queen
Mai Tai
The leader(s) of the Rodere (This rank apparently comes complete with plastic crown and gold lawnchair for throne)
Lord/Lady-in-Waiting
Second in command to the King/Queen, when they are not available. And the second to the first Lord/Lady when neither the King/Queen or their second is available. Usually one of each gender.
Scribe
Advises the Rat Queen and King on various matters when asked. Most often an older, more experienced member. They might have connections with the law or the justice system making them the go to person when a member of the Rodere finds themselves in need of legal help for an oops they might have made..
Royal Executioner
Torturer, enforcer of the rules. The Royal Executioner specializes in 'problem removal' acting as the strong arms of the Rodere at the Rat Queen or King's request.
Soldiers
Helpers of the Royal Executioner.
Royal Apothecary
Teacher, to teach those newly turned how to control and adjust to their new abilities. Same for male or female. May also serve as Rodere doctor.
Royal Escort
Queen/king’s personal bodyguard (may be more than one).
Page
Those Rodere that have no specific positions within the court. Most often time are Rodere by infection association.
Knight
Where non-Rodere friends and allies can be honoured by the Queen and her court. Knights aren't expected to fulfill any duties except to pay a tithe of beer or whatever strikes the fancy of the Queen at the time. Most often, it's custom to bring a lawn ornament to decorate the court on a first meeting (Please, no more Pink Flamingos).
Court Jester
Most often is the rank given to those undergoing the Queen's punishment(This rank comes with Jester Hat and Bells).
