Vampire Information Information taken off Wikipedia & Other Sources
Strengths:
- Vampires never age – though they can appear to age if they do not feed for an extended amount of time
- All vampires are stronger than the average human. Even the newly turned can lift cars.
- Have superhuman speed, however, it is almost impossible to tell whether a vampire is using said speed, or is using 'mind tricks' to conceal his/her movements.
- Have incredible senses of hearing, sight and smell.
- Can heal most wounds
- All vamps can use their gaze to ‘hypnotize’ humans; the older the vamp, the stronger their gaze.
- The older the vamp, the earlier in the day they can wake – they can survive as long as they’re in a room with no access to sunlight.
- The older the vamp, the more powerful.
Weaknesses:
- They can be killed by beheading, having their heart ripped out and fire. Other common reasons for death are being expose to sunlight (they burst into flames), and being killed by council members.
- Silver can slow them down, but won’t kill them.
- They don't need to sleep during the day, but as long as the room is totally dark, they’re fine.
- Religious items bother and hurt vampires. If they get too close to one, it will begin to glow, and possibly burn. However, a religious item is only effective against a vampire if the wearer believes in it.
- When a vampire first rises, it may be confused or dangerous. As a result, people who might rise as vampires are stored in a locked morgue, and attended to by a vampire counselor who supplies the newly risen dead with an animal to feed on. This helps them adjust to their new status.
- They look what they looked like in life. IE, if they were obese with no teeth in real life, that's what they look like as a vamp. They're not preternaturally pretty unless they were in life, OR they have been to Belle Morte's court and she used her vampiric powers on them.
Powers:
- Vampires can "roll" victims by making eye contact. "Rolling" typically refers to a temporary hypnotic state that vampires can use to conceal their movements, giving them the illusion of instantaneous movement, to give commands to the victim, or to reduce the pain of a vampire's bite. Victims with supernatural power, such as other vampires, animators, human servants, and lycanthropes, display varying amounts of resistance to this technique, but most people avoid the technique by not looking vampires directly in the eyes. Given time, a sufficiently powerful vampire can put a victim into an effectively permanent hypnotic state
- Mass hypnosis: Some vampires are able to exert a hypnotic effect over an entire crowd. This form of mind control is considered legal in places such as Circuses, Clubs and other entertainment venues.
- Vampires have the ability to remain completely still, expressionless, and silent. New vampires learn this as they age, while older vampires use this often for effect.
- Empathy: Vampires refer to being able to "smell" emotions such as fear and lust, and some vampires are able to detect lies. It is not clear precisely how much of this ability involves literal scent and how much involves mental powers. However, mental powers are clearly a significant component; once Jean-Claude makes Anita his human servant, he is unable to read her emotions, which suggests that the technique is not purely physical.
Feeding:
- Their fangs are present at all times; older vamps can learn to smile without showing them.
- They do feed on humans, but under the current laws, only willing ones.
- Shapeshifter blood is more tasty than human to them, and gives them a power boost human blood cannot. The same is true for the blood of a magically inclined human.
- Vampires cannot eat physical food or drink, but they can taste both through their human servants, if they have one.
Sex and Reproduction:
- They can have sex, though males need to feed first.
- Up until they’re about 50 years dead, a male vamp can impregnate a human, though the baby can and usually does have a serious birth defect called Vlad’s Syndrome, and it’s not suggested they try.
- Female vamps cannot get pregnant; their body is technically dead, and cannot support life.
Master Vampires and Their Powers:
- Super powerful ones are called Masters. But not all vampires can become masters.
Being a Master gives them more powers:
- the ability to call an animal, say, rats (this would call normal rats, as well as, wererats). This means the animal does their bidding. Alphas can resist and help others resist, but it is difficult.
- Some can fly, some can feed off of fear, or sexual energy and not need blood at all times. We encourage the ideas of new powers (with limitations of course!)
- They can do things with their bites. An example, a vamp in the books who comes from a line whose power base is fear can cause terror with his bite.
- In the above vein, if a vampire has not reached 'master status' by the time they're a thousand years old, it's unlikely that they will ever reach it.
- The oldest vamp known right now is the mother of all darkness, and she is a terrifying creature indeed!
The Harlequin
- The Harlequin follow the rules of the Mother of All Darkness first, and the council second. It is rumored that some harlequin members are even more powerful than the old council members themselves.
- The harlequin take on the names of Italian Commedia dell'arte theatre names. (E.g. Il Capitano, Columbina, etc. Ask an admin if you aren't sure.)
- The Harlequin exists to police and punish vampire leaders who violate various rules.
- The Harlequin were Created by the Mother of All Darkness.
There are only going to be 2 Harlequin positions in RD at anytime.
- There is currently NO positions left for Harlequin members.
If you wish to become one, Please PM an admin before you create your profile.
Vampires in Paris:
- Paris is run by the Vampire Council, a group of seven vampires who collaborate together on a weekly basis to discuss & argue things.
- Currently, the old vampire council has gone missing, the new council members are currently – Masaru, Isodora, Sage, Marcus, Gerard, Vasilios & Shiina.
- All vampires in Paris need to make a pledge to one of the seven council members, otherwise they will be put on an executioners list, or killed by other vampires.
- A person turned by a vampire will always have a bond with that vampire.
- There is a hierarchy in Paris – The Mother of all Darkness is at the top, The Harlequin are next, then the Vampire Council, Masters of the city, and then everyone else.
- Punishment for disobedience, etc., can be physical and brutal (ie, from having throat torn out to being imprisoned in a chain and cross wrapped coffin. Use your imagination).
Bloodlines
- There are several different bloodlines that vampires can come from.
- Information about bloodlines can be found HERE. Alternatively, you can make up your own bloodline, as long as its reasonable.
Information will be updated as the site progresses. Feel free to post missing information underneath
