Ulfric // Emi's Beau
|
Only the stars illuminated the night sky while the city lights of Paris created a glow in the distance. The thick treetops blocked much of that glow, but anyone could clearly see which direction to go in if one were lost. Fortunately for Jason, he had no such problem as he drove through the countryside outside of Paris. The engine of the old Blazer rumbled loudly, vibrating the entirety of the vehicle as it was driven along the narrow two-lane highway. The werewolf was excited to say the least. Tonight was going to be Emilia's first ultrasound and they would both get a glimpse at the twins as well as learn how far along she was. Already she was beginning to show which led them both to believe that the children would be born cougars considering only two months had passed since they had learned of the news. The anticipation showed as he drummed his thumbs against the steering wheel in a lazy rhythm with the song that was currently playing on the radio. However, he had a quick pit-stop at the Pack safe house before he would continue on into the city and to the hospital to meet Emi. It was a minor thing but since he had started practically living at Emilia's he had not been around the safe house as often as he should have been. So he felt it was in order to at least make a surprise stop and drop off a few things as well. Jason had been contemplating inviting everyone, both Stalk and Pack, over to have everyone mingle and get to know one other. Not to mention announce to all of them the news about the twins. It was, after all, only going to be more difficult to hide the pregnancy. As Jason brought his thoughts back to the present, his eyes focused on a black colored Porsche ahead of him. His brow furrowed at the sight as the vehicle seemed to jerk a bit and seemed to be driven a bit irratically. Jason applied the brakes to allow some space between himself and the other car, "... Is this person drunk?" He wondered to himself while turning down the radio a little. |

How had this happened? No... That was a stupid question to ask. Brianna Knight knew exactly how it had happened and it was her own stupid fault. She’d slipped into a comfortable mentality of believing that her fiancé would never find out about her unless she wanted him to – and as a result had paid the price. Though, even her own imagination wouldn’t have conjured up what had occurred over the past few days, since that night he’d slipped tranquiliser into the wine and managed to drug her enough to get the drop on her. Him being upset, she would have predicted... anger even... but not this complete switch into something that was hardly the level-headed Robert Delacroix she’d known for years, into a madman. First had been the denial – the disbelief that Bree could possibly be anything but human. The testing had followed while she was strapped down and unable to escape, the silver had burned her flesh, her arms still stung from it now. Then it only became worse as her fiancé suddenly decided that he would be able to cure her of this illness. The woman honestly couldn’t remember it all very clearly, but for that she was almost glad as the still partially bleeding wounds reminded her that whatever had happened hadn’t been pretty. It was really only pure coincidence that he’d accidentally dropped a knife before disappearing after more failed attempts to ‘cure’ her. Bree had quickly managed to set herself loose before making her way to her car and speeding away from their house. She would never be able to return – she knew that – but then where could she go? Calling her family would be an idea, but she wanted to make sure she was safe before finding a phone, and right now as she drove along the road toward a destination she’d never expected herself to consider going, she wondered if she would even make it. As headlights shone in her rear view mirror, Bree began to doubt more and more the likelihood of her getting much further than she already was and despite concentrating as much as possible on her driving, and attempting to do it straight, she could only hope to herself that whoever was behind her would be kind enough to deal a swift end if they worked out who or what she was. For all she knew it could have been Robbie having caught up with her, but the large vehicle looked strangely a little familiar and had she been of a more stable mind she may have even been able to place who it belonged to. But as her concentration wavered, so too did a dizzy spell take hold and the Porsche veered off the road, and straight into a large tree. Bree was barely even aware, since all she felt was the burning sensation of a reopened wound as she lurched forward with the impact. With the car stopped, the werewolf could barely move as she breathed shallowly and fast. Hell, she couldn’t even make it to the stupid bloody wolf meeting grounds to try and find help there. The condition of the driver in front of Jason was most definitely in question as they continued to drift and weave slightly along the dark stretch of highway. Several feet had been placed between the Porsche and the Blazer; instinct and caution prompted him to put distance between himself and the other vehicle. Even if it meant going slower and delaying his plans slightly. Though the option of attempting to pass the smaller car did come to mind. At least that was until the Porsche suddenly veered sharply off the road and straight down the small embankment into a tree. Hot smoke curled up from the destroyed radiator almost instantly while the Blazer came to a screeching halt on the road. With a soft curse, he threw the gear shift into park and jumped out of his car to race down to the totalled Porsche. Only a few feet away and he could smell blood in the air as well as the sweet scent of hot coolant as it poured and steamed on the dirt and grass under the car. "Are you okay?!" It was a dumb question, considering the wreckage that lay before him, but he asked regardless. Jason came to a halt against the driver's side door before he tried to open the door. It barely budged, the frame buckled under the force of the impact. With a low growl, Jason grasped the top of the door, not needing to worry about the window considering it had been shattered as well. Using all of his strength, he pulled on the metal door and causing it to squeal in protest before it was bent open. Jason ducked his head inside to now more clearly see the woman within. Though the sight of her face immediately froze him in place. 'The assassin?' To say the least she looked like shit, but what the hell was she doing? Why had she run off the road like that? Suddenly he felt his hackles rise and the werewolf pulled back to peer around the immediate area. It could be a trap. Some elaborate ruse to put him off guard and alone in the wilderness. They were still a good distance from Pack territory after all. But the only thing he could smell was the car wreckage and the thickening scent of blood from the bounty hunter. "Damnit." He hissed under his breath before ducking back inside to start pulling her free, "This better not be a trap." It was the only warning he gave and the only one he needed to give her. Regardless of how strange the situation was or who she was, the wounds that she had were very real and she was losing blood fast. |

God, if only some of her associates could see her now. This was not a situation Bree had ever imagined herself in – hell, she never thought she’d be infected either. Naturally, as stupidly confident as she’d always been, she thought she was indestructible. Oh how wrong she’d been proven. The only drawback now was the fact that the car hadn’t been completely totalled beyond belief and taken her with it. Even now, with the pain that encompassed her, she was very much well aware of how alive she was. “Fuck...” Bree barely whispered the word as she closed her eyes and just wished for it all to end. She heard a voice from outside the car – likely whoever had been behind her – and wondered how bad her luck would really be if it turned out to be Robbie following her the whole time, or even one of Iveriot’s other goon squad she’d been keeping tabs on. Though, as her door was pulled open, the scent the brushed over her sense of smell beneath the overpowering smell of her own blood and the coolant and oil leaking from the car, was something else familiar, which caused her eyes to open slightly in surprise. “Well, I’ll be a bitch’s whore...” She barely murmured the sentence while Jason Young – or Reaper, whichever he was playing at the moment – seemed to be paranoid of their surrounds. The calm didn’t last long though as suddenly Bree found herself being pulled from the wreckage, the re-opening of the wounds she already had pulling a loud hiss from her lips, though as she was slowly made free of the mess, she snorted softly, “Please, the only idiot here stupid enough to fall into one of those is me, it seems.” The woman barely had enough strength left to stand at the moment, but she managed to hold herself up, albeit shakily, with a little help. Once completely free, she sighed and shook her head almost ready to just drop to the ground and stay there for good – she was so tired and the exhaustion would have shown whether she was as injured as she was or not. Her gaze remained on the ground though – humility also beginning to show in the presence of one of the people she’d been looking for, but not for the same reason as last time they’d met, “I was on my way to your pack’s grounds. Robert... found out about me. He’s spent the past couple of days trying to ‘cure’ me...” Barely a whisper, but she knew he’d hear... and hopefully hear the desperation in her voice. |

“Please, the only idiot here stupid enough to fall into one of those is me, it seems.” The Ulfric regarded the woman for a moment, not quite sure what to make of her statement but it was clear to see that she was weak and her injuries were far worse -- even for someone who had just been in an accident. After all Jason had learned first hand that the woman was a lycanthrope some time back when he had discovered her watching the Pack; all in an attempt to get closer to Goldilocks. With those thoughts in mind, he never completely let down as he helped support the woman. There was something strange about the entire situation and even if he wanted to - the hairs on the back of his neck were standing on end. Jason's beast was equally unsettled and paced inwardly. “I was on my way to your pack’s grounds. Robert... found out about me. He’s spent the past couple of days trying to ‘cure’ me...” "Robert...?" So his suspicion over who she was connected to had been correct, but that did not seem to matter at the moment as she mentioned his attempts to 'cure' her. Had the man gone off the deep end? Did he not realize there was no cure? But even as Jason supported the other wolf, it made sense as to why she was so weak. A glimpse at her wrists caught his attention as he brought up one of her arms to see the clear silver burns that marked she had been held down. "Come on... let's get you out of here." Though he was not entirely sure where to take her. If Robert had done this to her, then undoubtedly he would be looking for her. Jason could not risk endangering the Pack and he still held his own suspicions about the woman who had been sent to kill Emilia. As Jason started to lead her back up the slight incline to his car, he paused suddenly at the sound of another vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. |

![]() Agent Topehal Human (Psychic), 35, Government Official - Taken Over Parisian Pack The leather from the gloved hand creaked as it tightened around the steering wheel. Had the man the strength of his enemies it would have surely cracked under the intensity of his own annoyance and anger. If there was one thing that Anthony Topehal had learned, it was that even the most level headed had their breaking point. It seemed that discovering his precious wife was a freak of nature had indeed been Robert Delacroix's. The man had seemingly gone mad with the knowledge and the discovery, to the point that he had attempted to cure her. That cure, in truth, being more closer to torture. Not that Topehal was feeling sentimental. He loathed all forms of preternatural beasts and heathen vermin. He did so enjoy inflicting pain upon them whenever possible. However, Delacroix had made the grave mistake of letting Brianna escape and now Topehal had to intervene to clean up for the other man's mess. He was playing catch up now as he sped through the countryside to catch up with the wayward animal. Like a shephard needing to bring his flock in line, Topehal now had the task of capturing the woman and bringing her back. That is if he even bothered. There was always the pleasing task of removing the beast's heart. That thought alone tugged a pleasant smile to his features. Thankfully Topehal did not have far to go until he saw lights in the distance and the familiar, albeit damaged, form of Brianna's prized Porsche. Topehal's smile broadened into a devious grin as he slowed and then came to a stop several feet away. What luck. Not only had he found Brianna, but she had led him straight to the Ulfric as well. "Robert...?" As much as she wanted to groan and ask him if he really needed her to repeat himself, Bree really just didn’t have the energy for it now. She’d barely eaten in the past couple of days, which only seemed to have made her new healing rate slow back down again, and the silver burns were more painful than she’d imagined they would be. Despite the fact that she was a hunter and killed a lot of these creatures, she’d never been one for extended torture – some of the methods she’d seen Humans First advocates use made her feel sick to her stomach, and now she had first-hand experience. "Come on... let's get you out of here." A small sigh escaped the woman’s lips as the Ulfric began to lead her toward his car, “Thank you.” It was spoken softly and wearily, but she meant it. To be honest, she wouldn’t have expected him to help her at all considering who she’d been targeting and she supposed she now owed him not to continue with that hunt – especially after having spent a little time researching his closest contacts and had been surprised with what she’d discovered, “And don’t worry, I haven’t told anyone about you know who... and don’t plan to. Your family is safe...” Bree trailed off as her ears picked up the sound of another car approaching, and she curiously glanced up as the dark vehicle pulled over... her throat running dry as she recognised it as belonging to one of Robert’s associates. This was bad... Topehal was definitely one of the few people she never wanted to run into in a dark alley being what she was now and especially as injured as she was, and she was fairly certain that he would have been one of the first her fiancé would’ve gone to about their ‘problem’. Her grip tightened slightly on Jason as she pulled herself up slightly and growled out quietly, “We need to get to the car quickly... do you have any weapons?” The woman tried to move faster, gasping but ignoring the pain that wracked her body for the moment while she hissed under her breath, “Its Topehal. Robert probably sent him.” |

"And don’t worry, I haven’t told anyone about you know who... and don’t plan to. Your family is safe...” A small consolation, but one that Jason needed to hear nonetheless. Perhaps assisting this woman would at least take some of the heat off of Emi. The last thing they needed now was someone hunting her considering her current condition with the twins. Speaking of, he would need to try and get in touch with Emilia to let her know that something had come up and he would not be able to make it to the hospital. Hopefully she would understand, though it was a huge deal for them both to know how the unborn babies were doing. But for now he had to concentrate on getting Brianna up the slight incline to where his car was parked. Or at least that had been the plan until he heard the sound of a vehicle approaching their location very quickly. Just as headlights rounded the bend, he felt the woman's grip tighten and prompted him to look to her, “We need to get to the car quickly... do you have any weapons?” "My gun... a few stakes." Even for an executioner a lot of his fighting was done hand to hand at times with vampires. But he kept a clip of both lead and silver bullets for his Desert Eagle, “Its Topehal. Robert probably sent him.” Topehal... Jason recognized the name almost instantly and his gaze darkened as the car came to a stop near them while the werewolf hurried Brianna to the passenger side. Having to help manuever the woman was making it incredibly difficult to move quickly and also causing Jason to hesitate, "Damnit, what did he do to you?" He growled under his breath as his gaze strayed to her for a moment to attempt to assess the full extend of the damage. The silver burns were the most obvious and they would take time to heal. "Well... well... well. Miss Knight, you have certainly outdone yourself." Topehal's voice rang out and held a tinge of amusement to it, "Not only did you manage to escape Robert, but you've led me to the Ulfric. Not that I had any trouble finding him of course. But I can kill two birds with one stone." Meanwhile the door to the Blazer had been opened to allow Jason to pull out the gun and insert the clip with silver bullets. He did not want to take any chances with this man after all. Thankfully the position of the cars also allowed him some cover as Topehal was several feet away and on the other side of the Blazer. "Oh Jason, you think you will be able to stop the inevitable? I know you are loading your gun. Silver bullets? I'm touched you think of me as such a threat. It won't help you though... reinforcements are on the way. I'll dispose of the annoying pup and cut off your head all in one fell swoop and then, the Pack will have no one to guide them and it's only a matter of time before the other animals follow. Quite ingenious if I do say so." More engines rumbled in the distance, signalling that Topehal was indeed telling the truth of the alleged reinforcements. "Son of a bitch." Jason snarled under his breath before he looked to Brianna. If only she weren't hurt then perhaps they would have more of a fighting chance. But he had no idea of what Topehal had up his sleeve, "We have to get out of here..." |
