It was by pure chance that she'd spotted the big 'HELP WANTED' poster in the cafe. The only thought that'd gone through the young swan's mind had been 'job = money, money = more money to try and find Elora'. Automatically Evelyn had decided to go inside and schedule an appointment, a job interview or whatever they were called. Although she'd never had a job before in her life (honestly, as if she would - she'd been mooching off of her parents for twenty years now) she figured this was a good a time as any to get into the habit. Other people worked all the time, how hard could it honestly be? Today, on the day of the interview, she was feeling surprisingly nervous. She ought to feel completely confident. Of course they would hire her, why wouldn't they? She was perfect for the job... it was a cafe. All it took to make it was knowing how to make coffee, right? The waitresses did the.. waiting, and she was just going to be at the counter. Definitely didn't sound like rocket science. She'd heard, just from loitering around the establishment that the owner was extremely laid back, but that was about all that she knew about Cafe Prince. She had absolutely no experience. But surely, she was still what they were looking for? And young and energetic person who was good with people.. she could do the job, no sweat. Approaching the nearest person in uniform when she entered the cafe, the swan held up a little piece of paper with a scibbled date and note on it, mentioning something about meeting with a 'Ms. Keiji'. "I'm looking for the boss.... any idea where I can find her?" She hadn't actually spoken to the owner personally, only a secretary, and given that her writing was so messy not even she herself could read it.. It'd been pure chance that Evelyn had decided that one letter had resembled more of an 's' then an 'r'. Edited by Evelyn Ford, Mar 6 2009, 10:51 PM.

Star had just been walking past after having picked up her University schedule when she spotted the large sign in the coffee house that advertised they were looking for employees, and stopped in her tracks. While she really didn’t need to work, since everything she needed in life was pretty much provided for, Star wasn’t someone who could really sit around much. She needed to do things and since she was still new in town and hadn’t made any friends to go out with yet, a part time job sounded like a decent way to pass the time – and at least a coffee shop seemed pretty safe. Unlike a couple of other places that had offered her work on appearance alone. So, the bright-eyed cheetah simply walked on in to the small cafe and looked around with a friendly smile. It had looked lovely outside with all the plants surrounding it, and she could see that it was just as nice inside as well. She could certainly handle spending a few hours here each week, and with that thought, the young woman swung her handbag up onto her shoulder and walked further in, nearing another young girl who’d stopped what looked like one of the staff members. "I'm looking for the boss.... any idea where I can find her?" One sniff of the air around her and Star kept herself from pausing as she smelled prey, and she subtly regarded the other girl for a moment. It was of the feathered variety, she was certain, and so she was careful to try and not frighten her as she approached, clearing her throat softly. “Oh, me too!” Star spoke up quickly, thankful for the coincidental timing, “I saw the sign through the window and would like to talk about picking up a position here if they’re still available.” The cheetah tilted her head ever so slightly as she smiled brightly at the staff member. Even if she had to come back at a later time, she wouldn’t mind. She just wanted to see about speaking to someone who might be able to give her the right directions as to how to go about picking up a few hours here and there. |

The waitress pulled up short, a tray over flowing with coffee mugs and balanced precariously on one hand. A plastic nametag proclaimed the petite girl to be Carly, the plastic covered in stickers and doodles. Brows curved upwards softly as first one girl asked for ‘Ms.’ Keiji and then another seemed to come out of nowhere. “Boss is upstairs,” she smiled. “Probably bein lazy an takin a nap. Go on ahead.” Suppressing a smile, pointed the two girls towards a staircase by the coffee bar. ”OI BOSS! Fan club’s here!” Storm colored eyes blinked open, for a moment seeing nothing but the happy face of a puffer fish. A stupid puffer fish. Dumb thing was stuck upside down, not even smart enough to – huh. A frown chased across his face as he watched several other fish swim by upside down. Were they all catching the stupid from that puffer? Granted, he’d known it wasn’t that smart, not after it swam right into the glass a few times. But he didn’t think fish could give dumb to other fish. It didn’t seem like something that would go throu-oh wait. Bubbles went up. So if it looked like they were going down, that would mean … shit. “Osh, I caught the stupid.” Hands slid over his head, fingertips straining to get as far away from him as possible in a stretch that arched his back towards the floor below. Fingers scrubbed through his hair, trailing down to rub briefly at his eyes to work away the beginnings of a frown that had settled there. It wasn’t so much Carly that work him up, though her yelling had helped to shake him out of his thoughts. No, it had been the feeling that something was going to happen, though he doubted it was impending job interviews that had woken him. Oh well. There wasn’t any point worrying about it. Not yet at least. A yawn popped open his jaw, throwing another long stretch at him that he hadn’t seen coming. Finally rousing, he pulled himself up (or would that technically be pulling himself down?) he stood from the ceiling and meandered his way towards the nearest wall. ”I KNOW YOU’RE UP THERE NAPPING.” Sliding down the wall, he jerked the door open. ”Lies! I’m 100% awake and have been for the last like…however long you think I wasn’t.” He realized it probably would have been more convincing if his hair didn’t look like he’d been sleeping on it. Or if he at least had a shirt on. Maybe she’d just write it off on him being weird. There was a pretty good chance. ”Wait…fanclub? What the hell, Carly?” ”Remember that sign you tossed up this morning?” He frowned at the small girl at the bottom or the stairs. ”Sign? What sign?” ”Oh my god Keiji…You put up a ‘help wanted’ sign like not an hour ago.” A shoulder came to rest against the doorframe, arms folding. ”Huh. I did? Osh, probably did.” ”God, how do you even remember to put socks on?” With an amused shake of her head, the waitress wandered away. He leaned out the doorway, a grin flashing across his face as he stuck a bare foot in her direction. ”I don’t! So HAH!” It was only then that he looked towards the two people that apparently read the sign he apparently made. "It toli sucks to work here. Carly's a damn slave driver. 'Keiji', do your job.' 'Keiji, stop getting fingerprints on the glass.' 'Keiji sto-'" "Keiji, stop talking like a tard and interview the poor girls!" "See what I mean?" Jerking his head towards the interior of the office he disappeared back inside, jumping up to grab the shirt he'd left on the ceiling. He managed to get it on halfway before realizing it was inside out. A finger pointed accusingly at the pufferfish that was still floating where he had left it. "This," he said indignantly, "is your fault." |

She almost screamed when the other girl showed up seemingly out of thin air, instead settling for jumping about a meter off the ground. One thought and one thought alone came into her mind, and without even knowing so much as the girl's name, already Evelyn decided she disliked her. She was a cat. A horrible feline; a disgusting kitty. Long long ago the swan had learned to distinguish cats from the different lycanthrope species, there was just something about their smell and general aura that she had trained herself to pick up. She did what she could to avoid them, but.. sometimes they just snuck up on her. Like now. Not only was the cat sneaky, but she was one of those amazingly pretty types, too. Had she been a runway model in a past life? She looked like the type who was capable of walking into a modeling agency and getting herself a contract right there on the spot. What was she doing looking for a job at a place like this? Turning away from the model-like cat, she offered her best thankful smile at the waitress whose nametag the swan hadn't even bothered to glance at. Even though she couldn't see her expression she could imagine how fake it must look.. what could she say? The cat had put her in a bad mood. However, at the sound of a male voice coming from a staircase nearby - the waitress had gone to yell at the boss for 'sleeping' (Evie thought it was just some kind of joke, that the woman had to have been buried in paperwork or something..) - she pushed thoughts of getting eaten to the back of her mind. It was just a waitor she was speaking to, right? The boss couldn't actually be a guy.. "Oh my god Keiji... You put up a 'help wanted' sign like not an hour ago." Oh. So.. it was male. Though she felt a slight flush in her cheeks at her previous assumption - something greater took it's place, and she found herself creeping just that little bit closer to the staircase where the waitress was speaking with her boss. A nosey curiosity made her want to see just who she'd mistaken for female, and the moment he came into sight - Evelyn would happily admit that she was not disappointed. She may as well have melted, right there on the spot. First there was the beatiful model-like cat that came in, and now the owner of this cafe, also just as drop dead gorgeous? To top off his amazing good looks, he was even shirtless. Breath caught in her throat for several moments, she was glad that the waitress and her employer were too entangled in their own minor argument to notice her. It was only after she remembered that most people had to breathe to stay alive that she awoke from her trance, and stepped up so that she was standing just behind who the shirtless asian man - Keiji - had referred to as 'Carly'. "Excuse me, I'd hate to interrupt.." Liar. She'd love to interrupt, that just meant that she'd get to speak to the gorgeous man all the sooner. "But if it's a bad time, I can always come back tomorrow...?" She would've said 'come back later', but given that she only had until sundown before Adrian was awake again (and Daniel was in danger again - not that he wasn't already...), then later might not exactly be an option. |

Star almost jumped along with the bird who she seemed to have surprised without meaning to. She would have apologised but something in the other girl’s demeanour said there was probably going to be no point as she was studied. Still, best to be polite anyway, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you.” Star spoke softly, trying to keep too many people from eavesdropping as they were often want to do in such places as coffee houses. Of course a moment later she was wondering if there was something wrong with the girl since she was staring at her – and Star refrained from pulling a compact mirror out to see if there was something on her face. Perhaps the swan was just slow? She certainly hoped the girl got the job then, Star could probably find another one if she had to but she didn’t want to cut off someone who really needed it. The cheetah decided to direct her attention to the calling between the young waitress whose nametag she quickly noted and a male voice calling from up the stairs. Oh, so the boss here was a male, not a ‘Ms’ like the swan had said... perhaps Star would stay until she found out if there was more than one position available. If there was just the one, she’d let the other girl take it – no doubt there were other places around. Naturally, as the swan began to creep toward the stairs, Star couldn’t help that small bit of kittenish curiosity to know just who was calling back down as well, and she carefully moved around as well to have a look. Her eyes widened slightly as she spotted the very attractive man, but she quickly busied herself with also glancing back at the woman who was speaking to him before going back to him – like watching a tennis match. At least she had the decency not to stare at his half-naked self unlike the girl who was she relatively sure probably did need this job more than her. "Excuse me, I'd hate to interrupt.. But if it's a bad time, I can always come back tomorrow...?" It seemed to Star that if the girl had made an appointment time, then she’d be better off to wait than run off, at least that was the cheetah’s plan as she glanced at her watch and then the schedule book she had in her handbag, “Well, I don’t have an interview booked, but I would just like to find out about the positiions available,” She shrugged lightly with a smile before continuing, “And I have free time for a while yet so I can wait until he has time for me.” The cheetah gestured to a table near a window, “I’ll just sit over there, I have a University schedule to work out for myself anyway so just let me know when he’d like to see me?” Star flashed Carly another smile before moving to seat herself down and pull out her schedule book, she’d probably get a drink of tea or something if she ended up waiting a while, but was content to be patient for now. |

The waitress simply rolled her eyes before disappearing behind the bar. "Look, he's probably just up there sassing the fish. Go ahead and bother him. Honestly. Otherwise there's a good chance he'll forget you're here. And its not like he does any work up in that office anyway. Just keep an eye out for his brother, ok? No idea why the boss keeps him around, but that guy’s a real dick and a half." The shirt was yanked off, hands twisting it around until it was the way it should have been. No wait, that was backwards. Another glare was shot at the puffer fish before the shirt was finally yanked down over his head. Bounding down the stairs, he hauled up at the last minuet, a bare foot suspended inches from the floor. It occurred to him that he’d never really given an interview before. He didn’t even know what kinds of questions he should have been asking. Hell, he couldn’t even remember how he’d ended up hiring Carly for that matter. Time to stall. Flashing the two girls a brilliant grin, he hauled himself up onto the counter, only to slide off the other side. Humming to himself, putting on the best ‘I’m cool, you’re cool, we’re all cool’ act he had, he set about making coffee for three. Out of habit he even started tea. Except by the time he was done with all of that and loading the coffee mugs onto a try, he still didn’t know what in the hell he should be doing. Carly should be doing the stupid interviews. New hires were her idea after all. Setting the tray down on a nearby table, he looked at the two from the corner of an eye while taking his sweet time with the painstaking task of putting mugs on a table. With a resigned sigh he finally dropped into a chair, coffee held in one hand. Idly he wondered if five shots of espresso was ok with the girls, or if they would have wanted more. "Alright then. Interview away I guess... Any questions? Concerns? Osh," his free hand lifted to run against the back of his neck, "I hope there aren't any concerns yet. I just started the interview. That'd be a bad sign for sure. 'Course, starting it like that was probably a bad omen anyway, right? Aash. Can I start over?" |

"I'll just sit over there, I have a University schedule to work out for myself, blah blah and then I'll upstage you and get the job!" These were the words that Evelyn heard coming out of the cat-girl's mouth, and she chewed absentmindedly on the inside of her cheek in irritation. That was what she'd wanted, wasn't it? For the competition to leave. Sneaky, dirty cat - just like the rest of them. Kitty batted her long eyelashes at the waitress, offering the woman a rather stunning smile (why couldn't she smile like that? Her lips were too big, her smiles always looked weird. At least to her.. and that tan-- compared to her Evie was practically transparent!) before going off and sitting down. She should've just left the building altogether.. damn cat. Smiling her own, big lipped boring smile at the waitress, Evelyn nodded in thanks to the woman before turning back to the staircase. She deserved to go first. She was the one who actually had an appointment after all... just as she was about to take a step up, the gorgeous boss person came bolting down the stairs, almost running right into her on his way. Talk about not watching where he was going? Tilting her head at the man, she watched as he grinned at both herself and the cat, before sliding over the counter and onto the other side. He didn't say anything, just.. started making tea, and when he was finished he placed the mugs on a table. For someone so pretty, he seemed a little- awkward was the wrong word. He was too poised to be awkward. He just seemed a little lost? "Alright then. Interview away I guess... Any questions? Concerns?" Wasn't he the one who was supposed to be interviewing them? She didn't have any questions to ask other then whether or not she could have the job. She didn't even care how much it paid, so long as it was enough to provide food for herself and Daniel. The more important of which was Daniel - so long as he was being kept alive and well, any job would do. "Go for it? But before you do, please, allow me to introduce myself." Not entirely sure of whether to be as polite as her parents had taught her growing up (she'd had to meet plenty of rich bastards in her lifetime, each of which needed to be sucked up to just as much as the last.. needless to say if it was sucking up needing to be done, she had practice) or whether to just be casual in her speech. She settled for somewhere in between the two. "I'm Evelyn Ford.. it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." |

Star decided to give the other girl her space – on top of being a little slowish, she also seemed to be rather hostile. It was probably no wonder that she needed this job if she gave off those bitter vibes wherever she went. The cheetah could only hope that she was a whole lot nicer to customers than she seemed to be right now. As she heard the manager coming back down the stairs Star stopped in the middle of getting her planner out and looked up at him, flashing a grin smile as he moved straight past and slid over the counter to, she assumed, make drinks for the two girls. Wonderful, that meant he was going to see them now. The feline watched him switch from making tea, to making espressos and was standing again by the time he was bringing a tray over, though she noticed he’d left the tea on the counter and wondered if she should say anything. While she loved the smell of coffee, she didn’t drink it at all – and her sensitive nose could already smell how strong he’d made them. Would it be rude to turn it down, or maybe ask the waitress if she could bring the tea over? Making her way over as he began placing the mugs on the table, Star watched the man flop down in his chair before he began speaking, "Alright then. Interview away I guess... Any questions? Concerns? Osh ... I hope there aren't any concerns yet. I just started the interview. That'd be a bad sign for sure. 'Course, starting it like that was probably a bad omen anyway, right? Aash. Can I start over?" The cheetah’s smile grew even brighter watching the man as he seemed to stumble over what to do, though she hardly found anything wrong with it. Sure, he seemed perhaps a little flaky on the outside, but she was hardly one to judge a book by its cover (considering how many people seemed to do that to her) and decided she could handle working for him anyway – flake or not. To be honest, from what she’d seen and heard so far, he could be a barrel of fun. "Go for it? But before you do, please, allow me to introduce myself... I'm Evelyn Ford.. it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." As the swan introduced herself, Star quickly pulled a chair out next to the manager and sat herself down gracefully. As soon as the other girl had finished speaking, Star then shone a smile once again as she decided to do the same and looked toward Keiji, “I am Astara Viator – but most people just call me Star. Its delightful to meet you, and I know I didn’t exactly book ahead but I’m glad you can take the time to see me.” She laughed lightly as she ran her fingers through her hair almost nervously before shrugging it off, deciding there was nothing to be nervous about really. “I was just walking past and saw the sign and decided I wanted to apply for a job – wasn’t particularly looking for one but it was a last minute whimsical decision, so here I am,” Another small laugh and she gestured toward the other girl, “But Evelyn should go first while I decide if I want some tea or not.” |

His footsteps were barely a whisper upon the Cafe's floor despite the designer shoes covering them. With one hand on the front door, he had effortlessly pulled it open, while in his other arm, he cradled the flowers he had only just cut. The smile and greeting died on Carly's lips as she turned to the door, only to quickly turn back around to what she had been doing before. It was better that way, it spared Kaede from listening to the banshee's call, her voice was like that of nails on a chalkboard, constantly shattering the peace of the cafe. Her continued exsistance and employment at the Coffee Prince, had become his hemlock tea. The coffee bitch was a constant thorn in his side, and no doubt responsible for Keiji's continued decline in mental health. "Alright then. Interview away I guess... Any questions? Concerns? Osh ... I hope there aren't any concerns yet. I just started the interview. That'd be a bad sign for sure. 'Course, starting it like that was probably a bad omen anyway, right? Aash. Can I start over?" Speak of the patient himself. Winter spackled eyes drifted in the direction of his most beloved brother, huddled around a small table with two...women. That was all the establishment needed, was more heads filled with stickers and rainbows. Perhaps it would not be as bad as he assumed, perhaps there really werre more than a handful of women worth a damn n the world. However, since they were here looking for work, Kaede could only believe his first assumption to be the correct one. He was rarely wrong anyway, surely he could not be wrong about these women. Not that it came as surprise that Keiji was in need of assistance to interview anyone, Kaede was not entirely sure his brother could even dress himself properly alone. Gravitating to the table and it's small 'braintrust', he tossed the flowers down and stared at Astara. "Put these in water." He quickly looked away, he had not seen that sort of ugly in a long time. It was enough to make anyone go blind if they were to look too long. He shrugged off his leather jacket, letting it slide off his arms to nearly touch the cafe floor before he pulled it away, to drape it over the back of a nearby chair. That chair was pulled closer to the table, before he sat down, crossing his legs. His gaze briefly touched on Evelyn, "Bring the tea over." He ordered, his eyes quickly moving to his brother. If Keiji wanted to see if they were capable, the best way was to put them to use. "I imagine there will be a great deal of patrons unable to stomach the coffee here, should you hire them. |

"Go for it? But before you do, please, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Evelyn Ford.. it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." “I am Astara Viator – but most people just call me Star. Its delightful to meet you, and I know I didn’t exactly book ahead but I’m glad you can take the time to see me.” Introductions, he realized, were probably something that should have been done first. A dark brow cocked upwards sharply, accompanied by a vague lift at the corners of his lips. Apparently the girls thought today was Fancy Introductions Day. The coffee mug settled on the table almost silently as he rose to give the two girls a much more formal greeting than he had. If they were going to be stuffy, then he could play along. It's what they got for being Missus Manners. He really hoped they would learn to relax a little. "Uesugi Keiji, Lord of Planes and Autumn Leaves. Ronin." The brief interlude of proper form slipped from the fae like water through a sieve, taking his glamor with it as he dropped back into his seat. There wasn't any point holding onto it. The color of his eyes split into the triple rings of a sidhe while his hair seemed an altogether different shade of black. If they were going to work there they would find out sooner than later, and with something like that, sooner was probably better. Otherwise one of them might freak out later on and do something nasty. Then he'd have to fire them, and try to find someone to fill their place on no notice at all. Running a café was way more work than he had originally anticipated. His half cocked daydreams of hanging out and doing nothing but drinking coffee had gone up in smoke. “I was just walking past and saw the sign and decided I wanted to apply for a job – wasn’t particularly looking for one but it was a last minute whimsical decision, so here I am,” Another small laugh and she gestured toward the other girl, “But Evelyn should go first while I decide if I want some tea or not.” With a shrug, he turned to look at the other girl, only to be distracted by the flowers that landed on the table. While he had known Kaede was around, he hadn’t expected his brother to take it upon himself to join in on this little impromptu meeting. Looking at Kaede as his brother ordered the girls around, he simply shrugged and let the situation go. Sure, finding out if they were capable was important enough. But more importantly was if they could deal with his other half. "Evelyn, Astara...my brother, Kaede." Like he really needed to elaborate. It wasn't like anyone was going to look at them and think that their similarity was a hell of a coincidence. Coffee mug held backwards, his free hand reached out to run along the flowers. He wondered, idly, if they had grown on their own outside or if his brother had pulled them from the ground by his own will. Not that it mattered, really. "Keiji, do you need-" Looking past Kaede, he focused on the small blond that was currently standing behind the bar, a hand on her hip and tea in the other hand, giving his brother a look Keiji was getting real familiar with. "'s all good Carly." He smiled at her until she set the tea down. What, exactly, she had against his brother was beyond him. It wasn't like Kaede went out of his way to bother her, but there it was all the same. "I imagine there will be a great deal of patrons unable to stomach the coffee here, should you hire them." Blinking, he glanced at the mug he held, a small frown drawing dark brows together. The coffee seemed fine to him. Maybe a little on the weak side, but that wasn't anything to really get upset about. "They didn't make the coffee. What's wrong with how I make..." Oh wait. It was Kaede and there were two girls at the table. Rolling eyes the color of winter and storms, he let the comment go, waiting to see if the girls would actually do what they had had all but been ordered to do, or if they would balk. People, he had noticed, had become really weird about taking orders. Like it was offensive to them or something. Hell, he'd taken orders just fine and back then he had less reason to do so that people nowadays. But whatever. Things change. Well. Everything except Kaede. Edited by Keiji, Mar 16 2009, 03:47 AM.

Astara? That was her name? This really was ridiculous... Even her name made her seem like she should be a model - though admitedly it did make Evie think of astrology (for obvious reasons). Star. Please, go up into space and stay there. She forced a tight smile as the girl suggested she go first - oh, she would, and she'd get the job too. She'd barely even looked at the door when the bell rang, signalling a customer's arrival - though this was definitely no customer. He made his presence known soon enough, the dominance practically radiating off of the man, who was almost the exact duplicate of Keiji. There were two of them.. it was a wonder that her jaw didn't drop right off. She watched silently as he ordered both herself and Astara to do one thing or the other, not amazingly unused to the general demeanor of assholism. She'd gotten orders barked at her all the time as a child, and aside from telling whoever was ordering her to shut up and get their own damn insert item here, her automatic reaction was to get up and comply. Bringing the tea over to the table where the twins were seated, she set it down softly, eyes only brushing over the newer arrival briefly. It was rude to stare, after all. "Uesugi Keiji, Lord of Planes and Autumn Leaves. Ronin." Evelyn blinked at his greeting. Lord? She'd heard that title plenty of times from others back in England, sure, but.. never associated with being the lord of Planes, or Autumn Leaves. Studying Keiji in greater detail, she was taken aback by the sudden change, the most obvious of which was his skin... it was practically glowing. She soon noticed his eyes, which were now made up of a mixture of colors, and his hair - which had definitely changed colors. She found herself staring, before the introduction for the man's brother was made. Tearing her eyes away from the even-more-beautiful-then-he-had-been-before first twin, she offered a polite smile to the second. "I can assure you, Sir Uesugi, patrons will be able to stomach my coffee just fine..." Looking away from the both of them, she was then faced with an extremely difficult decision. The very pressure of the decision enough to make someone weak of mind completely break, it was so...hard. Which of the two twins was prettier? Or, a better question - which did she like better? It was difficult to say, considering Kaede seemed like a bastard while Keiji struck her as the type who wasn't really, all there. A very tough choice indeed. "Assuming your brother decides to hire me, of course." |

There was a saying; Fate was a cruel mistress indeed.(Perhaps this his where his dislike for the opposite sex had started) While Kaede would never know it's origin, he knew it must have been spoken by a man, faced with something truly awful. Fate was pulling on his strings this very moment, twisting them until they threatned to snap. His mind had only come to know the peace it could feel from finding a brother once thought lost to him forever, only to become turbulant at the thought of the Coffee Prince's new staff. "I can assure you, Sir Uesugi, patrons will be able to stomach my coffee just fine..." "Assuming your brother decides to hire me, of course." Shifting on the chair, an elbow pressed against his thigh, while an open palm held his chin. He'd taken to leaning slightly forward, closer to the table, while his gaze drifted off in the direction of the Coffee Bitch. Could there really be any doubt that his brother wouldn't hire this girl? His attention slowly returned to Evelyn, with the same disinterest he offered to most everyone. She looked like the perfectly sort of useless and hideous type, that his brother had the habit of employing. The pad of his thumb wandered over the flesh of his bottom lip in thought before offering, "You will fit in perfectly here." There was a moment where he amused himself with attempting to smile at the girl, but found himself unable to muster the sort of strength needed for it. Kaede's hand slid out from under his chin, long fingers reaching out to the tea that had been placed near him. He refrained from actually touching the mug for a moment, "Did you make this brother?" Nothing could possibly tempt him from drinking from a mug prepared by Carly, everything she touched withered. The taste of the tea would be ruined forever for him, had she been the one to make it. |

"I can assure you, Sir Uesugi, patrons will be able to stomach my coffee just fine..." Oh good, he needed more people that knew how to make coffee. So far it was just Carly and that was mostly the higher end coffee's. Someone that could smack that percolator thing into line would be great, especially given how much it had cost. Unless she was just talking about coffee you made in a pot at home. Totally different ballgame there. Oh well, he'd just have to have someone train her. His chin came to rest against a loosely curled fist, eyes drifting towards the open glass walls and to the greenery beyond. "Did you make this brother?" "Did I make wh-oh." Blinking, he drew himself back to the immediate situation, focusing on his brother for a moment before letting his attention drift to the tea. "Yeah. People don't make tea the same anymore. I don't even think Carly knows how without a kettle and a bag." Something rubbing against his leg jolted him upright, coffee threatening to spill over the side of the mug as the chair slid backwards. Leaning to the side, his gaze was met by a set of green eyes, pointy ears and an irate 'mew'. Since he'd pulled her from a box as a kitten, the feline had made the cafe its home, wandering in and out as she pleased. She was, so far, the only 'dumped' cat that had stuck around the place. The calico was, at the moment, giving him a look Keiji could swear his brother used. One that seemed to say 'how stupid are you?'. "Osh, Oma...don't sneak up on me like that." Features settled into a soft smile as he leaned down to run a hand along the furred back. "You will fit in perfectly here." Twisting around, he gave his brother a surprised look before nudging the cat away from the table. With what he imagined was a disgruntled huff, the cat slunk towards the glass doors to wait for someone to let it out. "That settles it then." The coffee mug was lifted in a salute. "You're hired." If Kaede thought she fit in, then there wasn't any reason not to hire her. |
