It seemed that Yukie had finally found a babysitter for Kou, after barely even a fortnight. Masaru had expected it to take longer, given that not many beings enjoyed being around vampires, let alone council vampires, however it seemed that Yukie was determined to make sure Kou was looked after. It was abundantly clear that Yukie did not want Masaru to choose the babysitter. Masaru had insisted that he meet the babysitter before agreeing that he or she was a suitable choice, and following them to take care of his precious Kou. Refusing that she bring the babysitter(s) to the Ossuary, Yukie had booked a restaurant. Masaru was happy to oblige even though the restaurant was only middle-class. It was really Yukie's night and he was not going to impose too much, especially since Yukie had seemed so on the edge for some reason. Masaru had already figured that he would be having a lot of fun that night, whether Yukie liked it or not. Masaru had arrived in the city an hour early, exploring the restaurant first, which turned out to be a quaint little place that served mexican food. He had taken Kou with him, showing her the sites of the city as well as playing with her on the swings and see-saw in the local playground. To his upmost delight, she had started calling him 'daddy', something that Yukie was yet to discover. Perhaps she would find out that night. He and Kou had been playing 'snap' whilst they waited, Kou occasionally sipping from a rather large strawberry milkshake. She was wearing a pink frilly dress, her hair done up in pigtails with matching pink bows tied to them. Masaru was simply wearing black pants and a shirt. He smiled as Kou won for the seventh time that evening. Tonight was going to be a very interesting night. |

It had taken her a long time to find the restaurant. Even with the directions Cheiu had given her, Serafina had become turned around more than once. She figured that for anyone else the directions would have been simple enough. But in all honesty, the city itself was almost too much for her; seemingly millions of streets and a thousand Mexican restaurants. At least the distance to go was short. Getting to Paris from Versailles had been a trial for the little fox. Clutching the piece of paper with both hands as it if were some sort of lifeline, she hesitantly slipped into the restaurant. Immediately, china blue eyes darted across everyone that was there, noting how much better dressed they all were. A hand tugged nervously at the hem of her too large shirt, all too aware of how she must have looked. Thin, bedraggled, wearing cloths obviously too large for her and clearly as skittish as a cat in a kennel. She almost turned around right then. But where else did she have to go? There wasn’t anyone else she knew besides Yuki. Or at least no one she knew that wouldn’t just pack her right back to Versailles to curry favor with the Master. With a deep breath she approached a waitress, fingers curling around the already crumpled paper as if it would let her tap into some deeply hidden reservoir of strength. “Excuse me? I’m looking for a party. Yukie Shibasaki?” |

![]() Yukie Shibasaki ·· 28 Years of Age ·· Werefox ·· Mother ·· Animal Servant to Masaru Although she was still convinced that there was not a shred of decency in the vampire that referred to himself as Masaru - and on occasion, as her master - the man had allowed her quite a bit more time then he'd first claimed, for Yukie to find a babysitter for Kou. For the first several nights, although she'd been fuming at the idea of seeing her daughter less, she'd still been searching hard for somebody she actually trusted enough to take care of the young fox.. starting by looking at Skulk members, of course. It had taken quite a while but eventually she'd settled on a relatively new addition to the Skulk, the young girl's name being Gemma de Santis. She was a kind hearted young nurse who was new to Paris and after just the few conversations that they'd had, Yukie had decided to invite her to come to dinner with herself, Kou and Masaru. She had planned on being early to the restaurant; however, both traffic and a rather large amount of paperwork at the cafe had made her late, instead. She arrived several minutes after the scheduled meeting time, though it wasn't just the thought of Masaru being alone with Kou that made her hurry. She was hoping, praying that the vampire hadn't arrived yet, due to the presence of another fox in the building.. one that Yukie had not seen for almost a full four years. Serafina had only been fourteen when the two had crossed paths; Yukie had still been fairly young herself. Kou wasn't even a month old at the time, and the two had been in Versaillas. The three had gone for lunch several times, and though they hadn't known each other long, Yukie had made sure to make it very clear to the young girl that if ever she needed help, somewhere to stay, absolutely any kind of assistance.. that she was there for her. She'd made sure to also mention that whether it was taken in just a week or even ten years, the offer would always stand. As it seemed, Serafina was currently in Paris, and was taking her up on that offer. It'd only taken her four years to finally get away from those vampires.. only to be put in the immediate danger of being caught by another. Cheiu, the idiot (not that it was actually his fault, but she'd felt the need to blame somebody for endangering the girl) had directed her to this restaurant. By a pure stroke of luck, Yukie got to Fina first-- even after four years the girl had barely changed. She just looked like a slightly more mature version of her the self that Yukie had met years ago. "Serafina.." She greeted, looking her over with a welcoming smile. Her tone was soft; so as not to startle the fox, though unintentionally urgent all the while. "It's good to see you again." |

"Serafina. It's good to see you again." She nearly crawled out of her skin. While the words were neutral enough, happy enough and nothing short of ordinary, it by no means hid the undercurrent beneath them. Her eyes were wide as she turned to the familiar face, hands reaching out to clutch Yuki’s hands and press the crumpled paper against her skin. She had forgotten how little Yuki was. Or maybe she herself had simply grown unnoticed. Maybe she was Alice and had stumbled into Wonderland while she wasn’t paying attention. She had certainly left a Jabberwocky behind her. But why, why, why did Yuki sound off? Fear rippled though the girl, trailing the thought that her salvation might not have been sincere. Maybe it had simply been a ploy laid out by Marcel; flashing her a chance of freedom to see what she would do. It didn’t seem too far fetched. It had only been four years, and that wasn’t much time for a vampire at all. Then…that would mean that Yuki’s offer and friendship had been false. Just bait for a pretty trap. Despair was right on the feels of fear, but she pushed it away. She wasn’t making sense. There couldn’t have been any way Marcel had anything to do with meeting the other fox. Absurd. She was just over thinking things. Had to be. It was what she got for being around vampires for so long. Or at least she hoped so. A smile fluttered at the corners of her lips, fragile and half scared. “Yuki, I … Marcel was … I ran away and I didn’t have anywhere else to go.” She glanced towards the windows, paranoia making her more concerned than usual. “He probably didn’t follow. I don’t think he did. He always said he’d only go to Paris if he felt like dying, and you were here so I thought…” She trailed off, knowing full well she had simply been babbling half hysterically, and unable to really do anything else. “It’s good to see you,” she finished lamely. |

![]() Yukie Shibasaki ·· 28 Years of Age ·· Werefox ·· Mother ·· Animal Servant to Masaru She practically jumped at the greeting; and no wonder. The poor girl had practically been a slave to those disgusting vampires throughout the majority of her adolescence and teenage years.. if what she said was true, then after about eleven years of 'servitude' (if it could be called that) Serafina had only just managed to escape. Yukie did what she could to try and seem comforting. She didn't want to worry Fina any more then necessary (the necessary amount of worry being none at all), and had to do her best to get the girl out of here before Masaru managed to spot her. The thought ocurred to her that Fina might be worried if the elder fox would still accept her - after all, they hadn't seen or heard from one another in quite some time. "It's okay, darling, you weren't followed. I'm overjoyed just to hear that you're alright.." She pulled the younger girl into an embrace, reassuring her both physically and metaphysically that she was safe. She wanted to believe it, too, but with a powerful vampire so close.. she had to get out. Having wanted to lead Serafina out of the restaurant before they went any further inside, she only paused when a familiar voice called out to her. "Where are you going mommy?" Interally sighing, she turned and gave her daughter a bright smile. Of course she was happy to see her; but if Kou had spotted them, there was no doubt in her mind that Masaru would have, too. She scooped the young girl up in her arms, before turning back to Serafina. "Kou baby, you won't remember her, but this is Serafina.. she's also a fox, and will be staying either with us or with Cheiu for a little while. You met just after you were born." Kou stared at the blonde for several moments, before giggling at her. "Hi," was her only greeting; brief, but still friendly. "Will she be eating with us mommy? Daddy's waiting.." If she hadn't already been holding onto her so tightly, Yukie might've dropped Kou right then and there. Had she... no. She couldn't have. She must have misheard her. "Hm.. I don't know.. I'd much rather take Fina home, she must be tired after all.." "Pleaaase pretty please? Daddy told me to bring you both, and.." Kou trailed off, and in that moment Yukie's felt somewhere midway between wanting to cry and wanting to rip Masaru's eyes, ears, tongue and even nose out. Just so he could never properly interact with Kou again; never make her feel any more attached to him then she already was. She knew that Serafina might notice the change in her behavior, and did her best to act natural. "Fina, if you want to join us you're welcome. Otherwise, I'd be happy to take you to where you can stay for the evening, and sort out things tomorrow.." |

“Oh no, Serafina, please join us.” Masaru said with a smile, placing an arm around Yukie and kissing on the top of her head. He had been listening to the conversation from a distance, and had liked the fact that the female fox ,“Fina”, had sounded so unsure, submissive and most of all, scared. So much could be done with such a girl – she could be molded like a piece of play dough. And she was not so hard on the eyes either. Petite frame, yet elegant posture, her blue almost childlike eyes making her look like a life size porcelain doll. It only took a second for Masaru to decide that he wanted to include her in his little games. It didn't take much energy for him to project the aura and feel of a fox, using his touch on Yukie to comfort her beast, knowing that this action would both annoy her and make her hate herself for enjoying it. Kou beamed up at him from Yukie's arms, and he smiled pleasantly back, ruffling her hair. “You found them for me, good job darling.” He said sweetly, his voice perfectly imitating that of a caring father. Kou seemed to smile all the wider and Masaru let out a chuckle that was purely for Kou's benefit. His skin was warm and he practically almost was a fox in every metaphysical and physical sense except one – he had no beast. If Serafina was powerful, she would sense that there was something off about him, something not quite 'alive'. However, if, as he suspected, Serafina was not strong, she simply would not be able to tell the difference. Letting go of Yukie for a second, Masaru extended an arm out to Serafina. “I'll treat you to dinner, since you're one of Yukie's friends. She doesn't get much time for friends these days.” He smiled, placing his arm back around Yukie's waist delicately, a warm smile on his lips. He was not just asking Serafina, he was metaphysically coaxing her as well. He was sure Yukie could sense this as well, and he knew she would be fuming because of it. However with Kou there calling him 'daddy', what could Yukie do? In a show that could be perceived as a display of dominance, Masaru lent down and kissed Yukie on the side of the neck, close to the jugular vein. “Our table is just over there.” He said smiling, gesturing to the table that he and Kou had been playing snap on. |

"It's okay, darling, you weren't followed. I'm overjoyed just to hear that you're alright.." She melted into the hug, and everything that had plagued her since running away seemed to drain out of the young fox. It appeared as if that had been the only thing keeping her running for quite some time. She nearly collapsed against Yuki, as if Fina had simply been a puppet who's strings had been cut. A fine tremble plagued her hands, setting them to flutter against her friend's back. She would be safe. It was an almost alien concept; safety. The majority of her life had been spent staring at her own death and she had, more than once, wished she possessed the willpower to throw herself over the line and to let it end. But in the end she was simply too scared to do even that. Mostly for fear that she would do it wrong and that the Master would have made he regret it. "Kou baby, you won't remember her, but this is Serafina..." Long fingers rose swiftly to hide wipe at her eyes before giving the little girl a wave. "Fina, if you want to join us you're welcome. Otherwise, I'd be happy to take you to where you can stay for the evening, and sort out things tomorrow.." "Maybe...somewhere safe? I'm so tired." Blue eyes traveled back out over the rest of the patrons. The smell of food almost compelled her to stay, and yet she knew she shouldn't. Even if she were dressed properly, Yuki probably had important things to deal with. Things she would only get in the way of. Surely her friend didn't want her underfoot for ... whatever it was she was doing. Besides that though, she was quite simply exhausted. Two weeks spent essentially on the streets, hardly sleeping at night for fear of being found and using the daylight hours to put more distance between herself and Versailles. “Oh no, Serafina, please join us. I'll treat you to dinner, since you're one of Yukie's friends. She doesn't get much time for friends these days. Our table is just over there.” "I should really..." The words trailed away, her denial disappearing beneath a desire to remain there. It wasn't like the restaurant would be an less safe than Yuki's home. "Thank you." She smiled shyly at the stranger, hands unwinding from the worried knot they had twisted into. The promise of food far outweighed her desire to sleep, even smothered her need to keep checking the windows. With one last peek outside and a nervous lick of her lips, she hesitantly slipped past them both towards the table, dropping a half curtsy out of long standing habit. (Or at least as much of a curtsy as a girl could do with a shirt.) Hand ran across a chair back as she waited for the others to sit, and while it was simply something the Master had trained her to do, it was tainted by an air of impatience. Excitement almost. |

![]() Yukie Shibasaki ·· 28 Years of Age ·· Werefox ·· Mother ·· Animal Servant to Masaru He disgusted her, he honestly did, on so many levels. Not only had Masaru taken it upon himself to play his part in the 'happy family' act when around Kou; but lately, he'd been doing it when they went out to certain public locations, too. Such as right now, even though it was mostly for the younger fox's benefit. Yukie relaxed as he suddenly began to feel less like a corpse and more like one of her own kind, though just like he intended, hated herself for reacting in such a way. What should it matter, if he could fake being like a fox? He wasn't; his body was dead. He did not have a beast, he was nothing more then a corpse which happened to walk, and talk... She felt the urge to cringe as he wrapped his arm around her; but it wasn't very difficult to fight it. As much as she hated to admit it Yukie had begun to grow used to his displays of 'affection', and they no longer bothered her quite as much as they had once. It proved more difficult to stop herself from scoffing at the mention of her not having time for friends. That was the understatement of the century. By nightfall she was barely allowed out of the Ossuary, and even during the day she found herself so busy she barely had time to even see Kou, let alone go and visit friends.. The 'happy' facade faltered only when his lips came into contact with her neck, though only for the briefest of moments. Somebody less perceptive may have simply brushed off her reaction as.. the fluttering of a young woman in love or even lust perhaps; but to somebody who was truly looking, they might see the truth. He repulsed her. She wanted nothing more then to run away from him, for him to never touch her again, but knew by now that this wasn't up to her.. At least not for now. It irritated her that Masaru was pushing Serafina into staying for the dinner, when the girl was obviously trying to refuse. Couldn't he just drop it? Of course not. Knowing vampires he was already planning some sort of, well, plan involving her and.. What if he thought that Fina was Yukie's chosen babysitter? Eyeing the way the younger fox waited for others to be seated, Yukie motioned to Serafina's own chair. "Why don't you sit down, Serafina, I'm just going to ask the waiter to arrange for one extra chair." She did as she claimed - merely informing the nearest waitor that their party for four was now going to be five - before coming back and sitting down. Between Masaru and Serafina, of course. |

Yukie's reaction was very predictable, prompting a soft chuckle from the vampire. He liked that he could predict her reactions, her thoughts. He enjoyed messing with her head. Throughout the past week or so, she had definitely become more submissive to him, barely even fighting when he hugged her. He had not tried to feed from her again, at least not yet. It seemed inappropriate when they were getting along so well in his eyes. Yukie's face only changed when he kissed her on the neck, though it wasn't at all a reaction that could be badly perceived. Apparently, Yukie was getting better at acting her part. It was an achievement that Masaru gave her some credit for, given what she had discovered just moments before. Masaru was pleased when Serafina decided to stay with them to eat, the signs of her hunger obvious to him. It was also blatantly apparent that she'd had some sort of training in the terms of master and servant – that was curious to him. It was rare for anyone to display such submissive habits in public, unless they had been beaten down to no end. He had to wonder where Serafina had come from, and who exactly her master was. She seemed so fragile, so quaint, that Masaru almost felt the desire to push that threshold and break her completely. But to do that was to end the game far too fast, and he wished to get to know Yukie better first. And what better way to do that than through her friends? He could sense Serafina's pulse, the increase signifying excitement. Excitement to eat...or because of Yukie? Masaru was perplexed. There was no doubt in Masaru's mind that Serafina was not the babysitter that Yukie had choosen, and that Fina's being there was purely by chance. However that did not make her any less involved in his affairs now. He wondered if Yukie realized that he knew, watching as she went to the waiter to ask for another seat. After she came back, rather deliberately, Yukie placed herself between him and Serafina. This did not bother Masaru in the slightest – it meant that Kou sat on his other side. More interestingly, Yukie seemed to be more protective of this girl than she was of Kou. Whatever happened to blood being thicker than water? Grabbing some menus, he passed them around the table, feigning interest in one before placing it down. “I ate earlier, I'm truly not that hungry.” He then leant down to Kou, reading her the kids menu on the other side. “Fish and chips!” She said, clapping her hands together. “Fish and chips what?” “Pleassssseeee daddy!” Kou said with a laugh that was as innocent as she was. Masaru nodded, ruffling her hair softly before looking back at Yukie and Serafina. He waited as they choose what they wanted to eat, observing their surroundings once more before a waiter came and took their orders. A few minutes later he returned with drinks, before departing from their table once more. “Serafina, I take it that you are new to town here?” He said, looking at the fox with a smile. “I have not seen you before, in the skulk. You should know that Yukie is the Hermeline here.” The terms for the skulk were ones that Masaru had now memorized. He had done a lot of research on the matter, and had implemented it with ease into the Parisian skulk, which he had decided was undeniably his. The news that Yukie was hermeline would be a surprise to her, and he wondered if she would put two and two together. However it was more for Serafina's benefit than Yukie's that he said the next part. “I am the Reynard here. Its very nice to have you here Serafina, and I would be delighted if you joined our skulk.” A friendly, fox-aura warmth now practically emanated from him. Kou, sitting away from her mother and almost a little too close to Masaru, rubbed up against him, placing her head on his arm with a content sigh. He could almost hear her humming with content. Only recently had he taken over the skulk so completely that he could call himself Reynard. He doubted that any of the foxes would go against him, save for Yukie. It had seemed only logical that he make her hermeline, her being practically his partner. His hand combed through Yukie's hair softly, though his eyes were focused on Serafinas. “I am sure Yukie will look after you whether you choose to join us or not. However you would be far safer to join. There are some very scary monsters in Paris.” His tone of voice sounded sad, almost regretful, as if he'd lost something to a monster long ago. It was a very good act. |

She took the menu almost hesitantly, large eyes trickling over the pictures more than the printed words. Anxiety lifted its little head, necessitating her placing the menu flat as the table so as to keep it from shaking in her hands. Lips parted and she almost asked what she should be getting, almost asked what was alright. But she had done this before. Had been doing it for weeks now. It shouldn’t be so hard to tell a perfect stranger what she wanted, but she had spent so many years being told otherwise. Pursing her lips, she reminded herself that she wasn’t in Versailles anymore. That she was with Yuki and the older fox would keep her safe. Kou's laughter drew her attention away from the glossy pictures of food. “Serafina, I take it that you are new to town here? I have not seen you before, in the skulk. You should know that Yukie is the Hermeline here. I am the Reynard here. Its very nice to have you here Serafina, and I would be delighted if you joined our skulk I am sure Yukie will look after you whether you choose to join us or not. However you would be far safer to join. There are some very scary monsters in Paris.” Her attention was more focused on the little girl, who obviously was reveling in that bliss that only comes from safety and love. Envy flickered in her for a moment before she reminded herself that most likely Marcel had been right; that no one really wanted her anyway. Why else would they have left her with them for so long? Blinking, her gaze fell to the tabletop as her hands played nervously with the edge of the tablecloth. Lower lip was snared between her teeth for a heart beat while she gave a slow shake of her head. "I don't...know what that is. I know what a skulk is. But Marcel said there weren't any foxes in Versailles, so I didn't need to know any more than that. I'm sorry." The last was offered in a whisper, soft as a butterfly kiss. A hand snaked to the side, reaching out to wrap cold fingers around Yuki's hand. All she wanted, right at that moment, was to stay right there and bask in that warm feeling. "I'm sorry I don't know anything, but please let me stay. I can't...I can't go back. Not there." Fear wrapped icy tendrils around her heart and squeezed. Tears shimmered at the edges of her eyes, threatening to spill at the rejection she knew was likely to come. She'd have been on her knees begging if it wouldn't have made a scene. |

![]() Yukie Shibasaki ·· 28 Years of Age ·· Werefox ·· Mother ·· Animal Servant to Masaru At one time.. Yukie had viewed Serafina much like a daughter figure in her life. And although Kou came above and before anything else when it came to priorities, at the moment her biological daughter wasn't as much at risk as Serafina was. So long as Yukie continued to do as Masaru told her, assuming the vampire kept up his end of their bargain, the younger fox would not be harmed. However, no such promise had been made about Fina.. therefor meaning she was in the most danger of becoming entangled within the (not so) little 'situation' of Yukie's. She had to do what she could to prevent that from happening. Her hand twitched slightly at Masaru's brief conversation with Kou - he was just trying to rub it in. She didn't want to let him get to her, but the day that she stopped caring about Kou's wellbeing would be the day of her death. She had to let it get to her. She couldn't just ignore what he was doing, becuase if she did that, then she wouldn't do as much to prevent it as she might otherwise. So she placed one hand in her lap underneath the table, balling it into a fist as tightly as she could, deciding to take all her anger out on that. She was sure that if she dug her nails into her skin any further she'd draw blood.. something she did not want to do right now. Not only would Masaru notice it, but no doubt Fina would smell it, too. Yukie tried to ignore what Masaru was saying, but couldn't help but sit at attention when he mentioned her being Hermeline. Since when? To her knowledge the Skulk had no Hermeline, and it surely wasn't her.. did Grey know about this? She knew he was out of town briefly, but.. A wave of panic suddenly overtaking her, her head snapped in Masaru's direction. Was he honestly implying that he could be Reynard, in David's absence? "I am the Reynard here." Yes, apparently, he was. Did he honestly want her to just get up and slap him? Because surely, he deserved it. The fucking manipulative bastard was trying to take over every last aspect of her life, taking away her every comfort, the last of which had been the Skulk. Now he owned that, too. Or at least he said that he did. Well; she'd see about that. It would be her mission-- no, her duty, to make sure that every last fox in the Skulk knew exactly what kind of dispicable breed of vampire they were dealing with as their 'leader'. They'd do what he told them, of course.. but he would not win all of them over. Although she'd held no previous rank among her fellow foxes, there were still many in the Skulk that looked up to Yukie, not only as a friend but as an alpha and protector. If she couldn't even give them comfort in dangerous times then obviously, she wasn't worth the currently high opinions they held of her. She couldn't help but feel slightly uncomfortable as the girl began to fidget, before realising that Serafina probably had no idea what they were talking about. She'd been raised with vampires for years now.. if she ever had known about what a Skulk was, there was no doubt in her mind that she wouldn't already long forgotten by now. Yukie felt the urge to burst out into tears as Serafina's smaller hand reached over and gripped her own in.. fear? Standing from her seat, she could no longer just sit there and let the child break down. She had to do something about it. Planting a small kiss on her cheek, her beast curled tightly around Fina's own in a way to calm and soothe her. She projected her own aura onto Fina's, so as to stop her feeling so terrified. "Fina, sweetie, listen to me.. everything is alright. You are safe; no harm will come to you so long as you are under my care. It's not your fault that you don't know; I will teach you. You have no reason to be sorry... You are safe. I promise." She hoped whole heartedly that she could keep that promise. |

Mexican? Gemma thought to herself as she looked up at the restaurant where Yukie had told her to go. She thought it a little odd, but the few times she had had Mexican food, she'd enjoyed it. She was excited to see Kou and Yukie again, after the conversations she'd had with the latter and meeting the former only a couple times before. Gemma wished she had been able to meet the Reynard, but Emi had not had time on that first evening to introduce them, and then he had gone out of town. Working at the hospital was a busy, but fulfilling job, and had left little time for socializing with the other foxes that Gemma had met along the way. She was looking forward to spending time with a small child every now and again. Stepping into the doorway of the establishment, she hooked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear as her eyes adjusted to the atmosphere. The hostess on duty asked, "Just one, Miss?" but Gemma had already found her destination. "No thank you, I'm joining someone," she said as she motioned to the table with an empty chair. The hostess nodded and Gemma set off across the room, eyes trained on the table where Yukie was seated. There was a man, probably the man that Gemma had to meet before she could begin babysitting; probably part of the reason Yukie needed a babysitter. Then Kou, and another young girl that Gemma could tell was a fox, but had never seen before. Were there to be two babysitters? The fingers on one hand fumbled a little nervously with the clasp of a bracelet on the opposite wrist. So as not to intrude on the conversation already underway, Gemma paused a few feet away from the table and cleared her throat. "Yukie?" |

Watching the display of affection between Yukie and Serafina, Masaru couldn't help but feel that it would be an excellent move to ask the scared fox to move in with them both. What could or would Yukie do to stop him anyway? As he felt a delicious increase in sadness begin to rise from Fina, he smiled gently at her, to comfort her if nothing else. “I would not have you go back to Versailles when you so clearly fear it. Such a thing is unacceptable.” Had he been closer, he would have wiped the tears from her cheeks. However, Yukie had taken the seat closest to the fox and with good reason. Yukie's reaction to the news had amused him greatly, though he did not show this. He smiled at Yukie's words, looking directly at her as she spoke them. Her words were perfect for what he was about to propose. “What better way for her to be safe then for her to move into our new mansion? There is plenty of spare room...she could easily fit into any of the spare chambers, or your room if you should choose to stay. We can very easily pay for your everyday needs, it wouldn't be a burden in the slightest. Yukie needs the company...and she would be able to keep her promise of you staying safe that way as well.” It was around that time that a second fox approached, Masaru's attention diverted for a few seconds before his eyes returned to Serafina. “I do not ask you to answer now, but please consider our offer. It would make both myself and Yukie very happy.” But for entirely different reasons. Masaru then properly looked at the fox that had just approached, knowing that the only seat left was the one between Kou and Serafina. It seemed that the only foxes that Yukie wanted him to have any physical contact with were Kou and herself. Which suited him just fine for that moment. The fox completely overlooked him, and she did not feel as metaphysically weak as the other fox, which meant that his guise was holding up well. “Please, take a seat.” Masaru said, gesturing to the only remaining empty seat at the table. He leant in close to Yukie, whispering in her ear though he did not think for a second that the others could not hear him speak. If he truly had wanted that privacy he would have used his mind. “Your friends are just everywhere tonight, my dear. It is a pleasure to meet so many of them.” His hand brushed her hair out of her face, before gently tracing his fingers down her cheek – a public display of romantic affection, as if to reiterate to them all that they were a couple. “I assume that you are the infamous Gemma? Yukie has told me so much about you.” Masaru said with a laugh, as if Yukie had told him funny stories about the fox. “It is nice to finally put a name to a face.” |

"Fina, sweetie, listen to me.. everything is alright. You are safe; no harm will come to you so long as you are under my care. It's not your fault that you don't know; I will teach you. You have no reason to be sorry... You are safe. I promise." The comforting feeling that slipped around her narrow shoulders seemed to crack something inside of the young fox. And while that lone little crack would have been easily repaired, the gentile kiss to the cheek simply pushed things beyond. The shine that had been simply the threat of tears broke and slid down her cheeks in wet little trails. Twisting in the seat her arms slid around Yuki's waist, burying her face against the older woman, muffling the solitary sob that clawed its way out. The warmth of comfort was something she had long forgotten about, lost in the caverns beneath Versailles. “What better way for her to be safe then for her to move into our new mansion? There is plenty of spare room...she could easily fit into any of the spare chambers, or your room if you should choose to stay. We can very easily pay for your everyday needs, it wouldn't be a burden in the slightest. Yukie needs the company...and she would be able to keep her promise of you staying safe that way as well.” “I do not ask you to answer now, but please consider our offer. It would make both myself and Yukie very happy.” Reluctantly she pulled away, cold fingers wiping at her cheeks in a vain attempt to hide the wet tracks. With a quiet little sniffle she turned pink stained eyes to the Reynard, lips lifting in a still shy smile. The light caught on her eyes, making them flash and eerie blue green for a heartbeat. Sometimes the only way to find any peace for herself was to slip her skin and just hide. Oh the Master always made her pay for it later, but for a little while at least, she could know some sort of peace. She had never considered or, truth be told, know that staying in that other skin for too long would leave its mark on her. But even when she found out, she didn't think it would ever matter. The chances that she would ever escape Versailles had always been slim. Now though ... She shifted slightly in the seat, changing how the light hit her eyes and returning them to nothing more than pale blue. Fingers inched along the edge of the table nervously, looking more like a child at a candy store than a girl seeking sanctuary. "Yes. Yes, please yes." For a moment, her eyes flicked between the new arrival, the table and the Reynard before finally settling on Yuki. "I don't even have anything to pay you back with." There was a flicker of pink as she wet her lips, nerves and excitement battling for dominance. As if afraid Yuki might pull away from her, porcelain fingers wrapped around the older fox's hands, gripping with the desperate need to please. "I can do housework though. And I...if you lock anything, I can open it." What a sad little list it was, the things she could do for them. Here they were, extending her safety and a home, and what did she have to give them in return? Edited by Serafina, Apr 1 2009, 03:07 PM.

![]() Yukie Shibasaki ·· 28 Years of Age ·· Werefox ·· Mother ·· Animal Servant to Masaru She could go on, and on, and on about all the reasons why Masaru deserved - no, needed - to be stabbed and shot and stabbed again in the neck, heart, head or wherever it was that might be a fatal blow for a vampire. She could fill an entire novel with the reasons as to why, but one of the most important would probably be his complete lack of a conscience. The very apparent fact that no, he did not have any morals, and those few that he might hold in standard were obviously nothing like her own. Nevermind that Serafina, just a child, had been abused for years by vampires and that she'd only just managed to get away. What did that matter? All he saw was a new, pretty young fox to add to the collection - and another way to force Yukie herself to comply with whatever it was that he wanted. Not that Kou in herself wasn't enough for that, but.. it made her feel all the worse inside knowing that to disappoint Serafina would be to break a promise to somebody that could, truly understand it, and be hurt by it. It was natural for the child to assume that Masaru's offer to come and stay at his mansion (the use of the word 'our' had almost made her scoff aloud) was an offer for refuge, despite Yukie knowing better. In actuality, accepting would only put her in an even more dangerous hell then Versailles might've been. Only this time, exactly what happened to her might not depend on her own actions, but rather, Yukie's. Perhaps she was just being paranoid, and he didn't intend to use Serafina against her (unlikely). Or perhaps the urge to reach over and stab Masaru with that shiny silver knife on the table was quite deserved - in any case, she didn't intend on going back on her promise. "Fina, I'm... so glad that you'd accept the offer." Just those few words were so difficult to actually get out, and be convincing. It was a damn good thing she acted for a living, or the fox never in a hundred years would've been able to pull it off. She wasn't able to speak any further before Gemma announced her appearance- and what timing! Masaru must have been loving the entire situation, sick bastard that he was. With a small, forced smile, she embraced Fina once more, whispering quietly into her ear as she did so. "You will never owe myself or Masaru, anything. Remember that." She hoped to god, for the very life of her that Fina would remember. If worse came to worst, let the girl at least know that she was never truly obligated to do anything, for anyone but herself. "Gemma, thank you for coming," out of habit she greeted the girl with a hug - as you did in such friendly situations, with one girl who'd just finished crying beside you and your sociopathic "boyfriend"/master sitting just across the table. Pulling away, she motioned to the empty seat - right between Fina and Kou. And away from Masaru, very fortunately. "Feel free to take a seat." Returning to her own chair, she was glad for the classes she'd once taken on improvising in compromising situations - otherwise she never would've known what to say from that point on. Introductions were in order, obviously. "Gemma, meet Masaru and Serafina - you already know Kou." The expected, natural fluttering 'I'm-so-in-love' kind of expression graced her features as Masaru leant in to her ear, and she turned her head to watch him pull away. Only, to lean in herself, and make a response - unlike Masaru, making sure that nobody else in the restaurant had the hope to hear her words. "I would love to rip out that mendacious tongue of yours.. darling." With a slight grin - as if she had told some form of private joke - she turned back to their audience, returning to the conversation at hand. |
