REINHA :: Queen of Thugs
|
As all emotion dropped from Nathaniel’s face, a slight satisfaction came across the cougar. While many people would be utterly disturbed by the look he gave her, it was nothing new to the woman who’d seen that same look a few times back in the days. Even after years many things hadn’t changed – except one. Emilia couldn’t help but notice the fact that Nate was much more agreeable than she’d thought he would be. To be honest, she’d expected him to already be working out a way to get the get away from them rather than complying with her suggestion to head to the staff break room. That alone made her go think through anything else that seemed a little ‘off’ about the wolf. More importantly, anything that he might’ve said while still drugged, since he would have been the most vulnerable – and all she could come up with was the random rambling about an ‘Abby’. The blonde decided she was going to keep that information logged away for future inspection. For now, at least he was willing to discuss things with Jason. Emi shrugged lightly as Jason glanced at her, though as soon as they were inside the break room, she made her way straight to the cupboard and fridge to pull out bread and a few various cold meats and salad while leaving the two wolves to discuss their thing. Even if she had been an unofficial member of the pack years ago through Jason, and despite being his girlfriend, she had her own clan to run and respected the boundaries of another group leader. She had no problem getting Nate to talk to Jason, but it was up to the Ulfric to decide the other wolf’s options from here. Instead, the blonde began busying herself with making a few large sandwiches for all of them. Whether either of them said they were hungry or just wanted to be stubborn, she knew well enough that the lycanthropes needed to eat - even Nathaniel, despite how much he pissed her off sometimes. |

"What would you expect me to do about it?" He expected the other wolf to take action in one way or another, either by trying to force him to join the pack or by enforcing whatever consequence he thought appropriate for not doing so. Nathaniel was half tempted to actually reply, but the Ulfric continued on. He had to wonder, how far Jason might go to get his cooperation. "How about you explain to me why it is such a waste of your time... I believe there is more than you're letting on." Well of course there was more; but why would he want to explain that to him? His opinions on the way a pack worked, and whether or not he wanted to become a part of one, were his own. At one brief point in his life Nathaniel had actually considered joining with other wolves, before realising that to do so would mean to give up part of his work. Something which he had no intention of doing anytime soon, even now. "No." Short and to the point. He wasn't going to explain anything to this Ulfric; he had no reason to do so, the worst the wolf could to do him would be to kill him.. and just that in itself would prove to be relatively difficult. He was armed, ready for a conflict - anticipating one even. Though; it bothered him.. If it did come down to a that, the deciding moment in which it could either be death, or simply to join a pack-- which would he choose? If he'd been presented with this question a little over a week ago his automatic response would've been death. However, now, he wasn't so sure. |

Ulfric // Emi's Beau
|
A glance was spared to Emi as the cougar busied herself with unloading various food stuffs onto the counter of the break room. While it was a little amusing to see her switch into a 'motherly' mode as far as making food for them went, the Ulfric returned his attention back to Nathaniel and at the point blank 'no' that was given to his question. Jason's jaw tightened, the only hint to the annoyance that he felt at the answer. So the other wolf was going to be stubborn about the entire thing? Given all that he had seen and heard since Nathan had stumbled into the closet, Jason knew that he should have not been completely surprised. But it still presented a situation that he was not entirely sure of himself. In his time as Ulfric, which was short in itself, he had never had to deal with anyone who did not want to join a Pack. Until now. "No?" He repeated, giving himself a moment to gather his fault, "Why no? Don't want to say? Afraid Emi might laugh at you?" Jason wondered how in the hell the woman tolerated Nathaniel, he would definitely have to ask later. Finally the man sighed, "You have it good here in Paris." He made a gesture with his head to the room in general, indicating the hospital and his job, "...And I'm not the type to force someone to do something against their will. I'd be more tempted to just kill you instead, that is if you did something that warranted it." |

Emilia made herself busy, even switching on the kettle and pulling out some mugs to make hot chocolate before she set to making the sandwiches. The blonde hummed lightly to herself while Jason asked Nathaniel to explain why he didn’t want to bother with the pack – though she raised an eyebrow a few moments or so later when the other wolf spoke a flat ”No.” Oh, now that wouldn’t go down well. Emi certainly knew she’d have little patience for someone who was going to be a stubborn shit like that and she doubted Jason was much better than her. Of course, she’d had a little more practise at being a leader than the Ulfric, and dealt with shit heads on a day to day basis. She wondered absently for a moment if Nathaniel fell into that category for her too... and decided yes. Continuing her task of making sandwiches and hot chocolate for everyone, the cougar couldn’t help but snort when Jason questioned whether Nate was afraid she’d laugh and glanced behind her at the two of them for a moment, “Like he honestly cares what I think.” If there was one thing she knew, it was that there was little – if anything at all – that Nathaniel actually did care about. She was rather certain his own life fit into the list of things he couldn’t care about as well. Which was why she couldn’t help but wonder why he did care about whether he was in a pack or not. Could it be to do with his other profession? If that was the case then Emi doubted Jason would’ve stuck around with her for years. The Ulfric did have a point though, Nate had things very good in Paris; it wasn’t such a huge sacrifice to be a part of something else. The blonde finished making up the food and drinks and walked to the table near the men to set it all down before turning to face them both, “How about you sit and eat while having this discussion.” A side glance to Nathaniel and her eyes instantly grew hard as she gave him a look that suggested he not do anything stupid. She was well aware that he likely had something up his sleeve and she very subtly tapped her coat pocket to indicate to him that she was prepared in case he did. As if she would head toward a possibly bad confrontation without some kind of backup – she hardly expected Nate to play fair if it came to head. “I insist.” It was terribly tempting to simply let Jason know that Nathaniel had another job but she wasn’t going to butt in more as she walked back to the counter to tidy it up before picking up her own sandwich and taking a bite while watching from there. |

Nathaniel had to stop himself from laughing at the Ulfric; honestly, taunting him? Yes, he was positively terrified that Emilia might laugh at him, that was why he wasn't going to say anything. Right. Ignoring Emi's statement despite the fact that it was true, he somehow managed to reply normally. "Is that a threat, Ulfric?" He asked with a raised brow. "Because you should know that dying isn't that big of a deal for me, Mr. Young. That being said.. forcing me to do something against my will might prove a little difficult, too." And it was true. He didn't respond well to orders, or threats - both of which this man seemed willing to dish out. The chances of being convinced to join the pack by Jason were looking to be rather slim... Emilia, however, was another story entirely. Although he didn't give a shit about what she thought of him, on certain topics Nathaniel was willing to shut up long enough to listen to what she had to say. There was just something about the cougar, more likely then not how similar the two were (in certain ways) and how he'd known her so many years ago, that made her a little different from other people. He didn't view her like a normal person, she was just Emi, a thing that was there, that just so happened to walk and talk and interact with others. She was a lot like an imaginary friend, only minus the imaginary part. For example, if anybody else had offered him any kind of food in this situation he would've refused without a second thought. However, when Emi gave it to him, insisting that he eat it.. he felt somewhat compelled to. "Fine," he said plainly, taking a seat. He'd barely reacted at her inconspicuosly patting her pocket; even going so far as to offer a very slight curving of lips in return. Of course he had something of his own, close to his hands and ready to be pulled out at the first sign of trouble; what'd he care if she was armed? "Feel free to try though, I'm all for it." With that, he took a bite of the sandwich Emi had given him. |

Ulfric // Emi's Beau
|
"Is that a threat, Ulfric? Because you should know that dying isn't that big of a deal for me, Mr. Young. That being said... forcing me to do something against my will might prove a little difficult, too." The Ulfric lifted a hand to rub the back of his neck while casting a look toward Emi. He really needed to know how she could possibly stand the other wolf, but that thought was stuffed down. For now he tried not to chuckle at Nathaniel, though a small smirk did slip through before he dropped his hand back down to his side. The temptation to leave the room and leave the wolf to his own devices was there. If he wanted to stay a rogue, then so be it -- Jason could turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the Bolverk's rogue hunts. Even if Nathaniel seemed to boast that killing him would not be easy, it might be true but Jason had confidence in his own wolves as well. "Apparently you don't listen clearly though." Jason regarded the man with a slight tilt of his head, "As I said, you have it good here in Paris so why would you want to toss it away because you have some silly opinion or bug up your ass about Packs?" “How about you sit and eat while having this discussion.” Jason glanced to Emi again to see she had finished making the sandwiches for them, but also noting the look in her eyes when she looked at Nathan. There was something more to how they knew each other, definitely a history there prior to when Jason had found the cougar five years ago. “I insist.” It was becoming readily apparent. Not following suit, Jason remained standing where he was -- not moving to accept the offered food even though he was silently appreciative of. Instead he waited for an answer out of Nathan that was more than one word or worthless posturing. |

"Apparently you don't listen clearly though... As I said, you have it good here in Paris so why would you want to toss it away because you have some silly opinion or bug up your ass about Packs?" Once having taken her position back near the counter, Emi observed the silence in the room for a few moments as Jason remained standing while Nathaniel ate the sandwich she’d made. A couple of minutes ticked by before the cougar finally rolled her eyes with a groan and pushed herself away from the counter to stand straight as she set her own food down, “He is all annoyed because he has some preconceived notion that he is only going to be told what to do all the time and one of the things he probably doesn’t want to be told is to give up his other job.” The cougar stopped a moment to take a sip of her hot cocoa before she continued, “Nathaniel also works as an assassin – that is how I know him from years ago before you ever met me. Of course, Brainiac here hasn’t actually considered the fact that you know about... my other life, and are still with me.” Emi shot Nate a look as though to say ‘are you really that dense?’ Seriously, she’d have thought he might have clicked on by now that obviously Jason knew about Goldilocks. “And you Nathaniel,” Emi rolled her eyes as she regarded him, “Just join the fucking pack or else the Bolverk will probably end up eating you like a snacky cake. You might have skills, but your number is bound to be up one day, and I personally prefer having another doctor around who actually knows what to do.” She shrugged as she picked her plate back up, “For some reason you seem reluctant to want to get out of the city, which means you are going to have to face it – you cannot avoid the other wolves now, may as well suck it up and stop being a baby. It won’t kill you to interact with a few of your own kind once in a while.” That having been said, Emi took another bite from her sandwich and relaxed back against the counter once more. If Nate decided to bolt, good on him – but she had a feeling there was a very good reason why he was reluctant to do so and it only made her curious. |

He didn't understand. Intimidation and all that other bullshit would work just fine with a wolf a little more submissive; a little less capable... and less stubborn. But with Nathaniel, well, putting it frankly Jason would have more luck trying to speak to a brick wall. Emi didn't entirely understand either; a discovery which came as a minor disappointment to the wolf, quite surprisingly. But how could she? She didn't know nearly enough to see his position clearly, despite being mostly correct in most of her other assumptions. It hadn't actually ocurred to him that Jason might already be aware of Emilia's.. hobbies, and that he was okay with them. But, it still didn't make him particularly happy about the idea of joining a pack. And so, he was faced with a decision. The two did hold a point, in their own way... joining the pack would avoid issues that could otherwise prove to be rather problematic. It wasn't as if he really had to be an active member; so long as he was part of the whole business that was enough, right? Besides; it made it all the easier to stay in Paris to.. pursue particular subjects of interest. ".. Fine," he said suddenly, deciding that so long as the pack stayed the hell out of his way (and vice versa-- probably) that he may as well join. He'd heard wolves talk about the pack like it was their second family or something of the sort, before, and honestly wanted absolutely nothing to do with that. But if joining was what it took to avoid getting hunted down; then it might be smart to do just that. "I'll.. suck it up and stop being a baby," he quoted, glancing at Emi as he spoke. Such an elegant way of putting it-- not that he was usually much better. "What, if I can ask, will I be required to do as a member?" Though he did already have a fairly good idea, it was better to be sure. |
