Nathaniel was sick. It was the only explanation to the amazingly strange thoughts and emotions that'd been going through his head in the past week or so - and what was worse, he didn't even know what was wrong with himself. He was a doctor who couldn't even determine what was ailing him.. for shame. At first he'd actually considered going to Emi to locate the source of his illness - but that idea had quickly been brushed off at the thought of the very, very weird look she might give him when he described him symptoms. They were unlike anything he'd ever heard about before. Firstly, at the most random of times he got some kind of feeling in his stomach - it wasn't painful, just.. uncomfortable. That was about the only symptom that didn't involve one particular, strangely fascinating and alluring person. He'd met her on a night out with Pierce almost a full two months ago, the two had slept together, and that had been it. The other day, by pure chance the two had brushed shoulders on the street and.. since that night, he couldn't get the woman out of his mind. Her name was Aibell, and she was a fae. A beautiful woman - he actually found himself attracted to her. It wasn't just that physical reaction that men got when around good looking women, it was.. different somehow. She wasn't just pleasant to look at; for some reason, he could barely think of anything but her. The very thought of being near her; that extremely sweet scent of her hair.. all of it, he found himself wanting to experience it all again. The only logical conclusion he'd managed to come to was that somehow, in their night together, the woman had poisoned him or something of that sort - and said poison had taken almost a full two months to finally take effect. Whatever she'd done to him, he wanted it out of his system, and was currently making his way to the club that she owned - Temptations - to try and retrieve the antidote. Walking into the club, he did a quick sweep around the casino for the woman in question - soon locating her standing by the bar. Oh yes; she was going to get it. Poisoning a mercenary.. what the hell had she been thinking? He was armed with lead bullets, and quite prepared to use shoot said bullets if the need arose. Walking toward her confidently, he stopped a few paces from where he was standing, the burst of confidence leaving him a hurry, replaced by that horribly irritating feeling in the pit of his stomach. Dammit - what the hell was that? He realised that his mouth had gone dry, and automatically decided that maybe this would be easier after he'd had a drink or three. "A full moon, thanks.." He said simply to the bartender, only glancing at the fae out of the corner of his eye as he sat down. |

Day/Night ~ Dark Sweetheart
|
Life was... well, that same as it ever was for the Sidhe princess – one night led to another day which led to another night or the same old thing. Not that she didn’t love Temptations; it was hers and Nimue’s baby after all. They’d nurtured it to maturity and now it was a thriving source of income and the occasional fun times. It was also excellent for keeping up on the times and what was going on around the city. In fact, it now served as part of an underground information leak, which the woman didn’t mind at all. In fact, she was quite happy to support those who wanted to give the new President hell’s own trouble. And Abby would help... except... she was constantly being watched lately – if not by her cousin, then by the Sidhe guard, Lir, who’d been sent out to find her. Considering she’d felt other fae activity around the city, and heard about the government lackeys tagging people left right and center, she was beginning to become restless, feeling much like the cooped up Princess she’d been quite a lot of years ago now. Personally she thought it all made her more vulnerable rather than less, but it seemed there was little choice in the matter for her and so she resigned herself to simply looking after the club and picking up any odd fun she might come across on the way. Still, it wasn’t all bad – Temptations was still a safe place for people to be entertained and lose themselves in the atmosphere, the wards all around the perimeter of the building made sure of that. So many politicians came through here on a regular basis; it would be stupid to try anything on the establishment anyway. All of those thoughts were swept aside for the moment however, while Abby chatted with one of the bartenders currently working the main bar. It wasn’t a quiet night, but it was... relaxing in a way. Abby wasn’t sure what the feeling was, but she was rather certain there were going to be no hassles and so she was taking it easy and chilling out. A simple short black dress had been her choice for the night, the bodice tied up with lace at her back while the skirt flowed lightly against her upper thighs. Completed with a small black choker and her raven locks tied up in a messy bun, she looked both casual and elegant at the same time – a look that only Sidhe could usually pull off properly anyway, Nimue would probably tell her. Though she’d been engrossed in a discussion about whether they needed an extra hand behind the bar on some nights, Abby had picked up right away when she was being watched. Years of being a paranoid faerie princess sometimes paid off like that. She wasn’t too worried though, someone would have to be stupid to try and start something with her one her own turf. And so, Abby had continued on with her discussion until the bartender excused himself to serve someone, and her gaze followed him across to a face she was sure she recognised. It didn’t take long to register. As soon as he spoke, requesting a Full Moon, a small smirk pulled at her lips and she called across to the barman, “On the house for him...” The small sly smile remained on her features as she shrugged at Nate lightly, “Its the least I can do after robbing you blind a couple of months ago.” With a small grin and a wink, the Sidhe decided she should perhaps make another round of the club though, and so picked up her drink and stood to leave. |

The moment he heard the voice - that one voice, her voice - he froze. He continued to breathe and continued to blink, but for the briefest of moments he would swear that that feeling in the pit of his stomach had spread out and up, consuming his heart to the point where for a moment.. it stopped beating. Yes. It was definitely poison - of the worst and cruellest kind. After she gave him the antidote, he'd have to ask her where she aquired it - this stuff was pretty damn powerful. Somehow, he didn't know how, he commanded himself to move. Act natural, Nathaniel reminded himself. He wanted to take that full moon - on the house, just like she said - and splash it all over his face, swallowing what he could, just to make sure that he wasn't dreaming. Was she so close? Dammit. Act fucking natural. "Why thank you," He said with a slight grin, that one gesture taking more effort then he could possibly believe. He suddenly felt eternally greatful for the many years of practice he'd had - with acting, and controlling himself in stressful situations (which this most certainly was). Turning slightly in his seat to face the woman, the very sight of her practically took his breath away. Every feature.. every simple curve of her flesh was perfect. He found himself longing to reach out and touch her, just to lay his unworthy hands on such a perfect creature. She seemed so very out of place in this building; nothing could even compare to her. She made such a simple black gown look like it was tailored from the finest of silks, the way it hugged her curves, and yet still left her with a certain amount of modesty. He could do this for hours - just do nothing but stare - and be completely content. It was at this moment that he realized just how sweet her poison truly was. Did he really want the antidote to this feeling of fulfilment - did he want to simply be normal again, and to forget her? No. She was too perfect; too perfect to ever be ordinary. Just that she would consider him worthy of her time - oh, that wink - made the drink taste like the most bland liquid in the world. Nothing could compare to her, the best and most effective high that he could possibly find. "Long time no see, Abby.." Damn his words; they weren't good enough. Control yourself. That irritating voice in the back of his mind, what was it, again? Sensibility. Here he was in front of the perfect creature, and he couldn't even properly appreciate her. All he could think about were his own selfish desires, and how much he wanted to be close to her. A weaker man might've simply thrown himself at the fae.. she was lucky for his self restraint. He somehow managed a completely natural expression - he could not, would not even hint at how strange her poison made him feel. The thoughts and emotions he experienced when away from her were nothing compared to this, standing next to the real thing. "I'd ask something like, 'how've you been' but would much rather skip the boring, clichéd questions.. How many of these free drinks do you think I could milk out of you before it starts taking away from your profit?" He asked, sipping at the full moon - which may as well have been ash in liquid form. Surely, it tasted like it. |

Day/Night ~ Dark Sweetheart

The woman couldn’t be certain, but for a moment she caught almost a stillness in the werewolf – perhaps he didn’t much appreciate the little trick she and Nimue had pulled? Though he seemed to relax almost instantly and thanked her for the drinks on the house. Well it seemed there were no hard feelings at least, not that it would have ended up phasing her if there had been. After all, he had come back here, so it meant they were still getting his business. Personal ties could be such frivolous things sometimes, and were more often than not, not worth it. As he finally turned to properly greet her though, Abyy definitely noticed a pause, though didn’t outward express that she’d noticed it. Was there something going on? She remembered the feeling of being watched and had to wonder, had Nathaniel come here for a specific purpose? It was possible, but there was little reason she could think of that he might want to seek her out, unless it was to go another round. But flings generally didn’t work that way. Mentally scalding herself, Abby decided that it was probably nothing as that briefest of pauses was broken when he spoke again, "Long time no see, Abby..." A small smirk pulled at her lips with the simple line and she moved a little closer and settled against the bar again slightly for a moment since it seemed he was up for a conversation, and well... she really had nothing better to do right now. What could the harm be? "I'd ask something like, 'how've you been' but would much rather skip the boring, clichéd questions.. How many of these free drinks do you think I could milk out of you before it starts taking away from your profit?" Abby chuckled softly before shrugging her shoulders gracefully, “Probably more than you could handle in one night, thank goodness. Don’t think that the offer will hold past closing time though – its a ‘tonight only’ deal, just because I’m feeling generous.” The woman leaned against the bar as she swirled the scotch in her hand and smiled mischievously at the lycanthrope while he sipped on the Full Moon, “Also, I don’t take any responsibility if you end up not being able to walk at the end of the night, so it might be wise not to attempt eating up all our profits with that stuff.” “And the third condition,” The Sidhe continued, pausing briefly to take a sip of her drink quickly before leaning closer conspiratorially while glancing about the room, “Don’t tell my cousin I gave you free drinks... she kind of has a love affair going with the money this place rakes in.” With a small laugh, Abby straightened up once more and considered the wolf a moment, “So what about yourself, Nathaniel? Saved any lives recently? Taken any pretty young woman home? Pretended to be the owner of any other high class nightclubs?” |

She didn't turn and walk away at his words, she didn't reject him in any means - instead she moved even closer, even going so far as to smirk at him. Just that simple curving of lips made her face practically shine - as a matter of fact.. she may as well have been glowing. She could've been wearing a potato sack for all he cared, face and hair covered in dirt, and still glowed. Damn; he had it bad. Not that he realised as much... as far as he was concerned this was still some kind of poison - a sweet, blissful feeling and beautiful poison - that worked similarly to a drug. Maybe that was it. She'd drugged him when they'd passed by one another the other day - and now he was feeling the drug's effects... This train of thought was abandoned the moment she chuckled. Her laughter was like bells ringing softly in the air; truly, music to his ears. He didn't care if she'd poisoned him, drugged him, anything - because the fact was that this drug was the first he'd ever felt of it's kind, and much like a child who'd just tasted their first ever candy after eating nothing but vegetables all their lives - he couldn't get enough. "Ooh feeling generous.. well, I'm lucky then, to have caught you at such a good time." He was finding it slightly difficult to put words together and actually make sentences that didn't just sound like jibberish. Though his reply was quite coherent, his mind was thinking more along the lines of.. 'Smooth skin... glowy glowy.. ack!' Minus maybe the ack - it was more of a feeling of annoyance, when the other man suddenly approached Aibell, strolling right on up to the beautiful fae casually. As if she was just any other woman in the world. "Excuse me, Miss, I know you must get this a lot but... did you know that you look almost exactly like Jennifer Love Hewitt? It's rare to find women so gorgeous, these days.." Oh, that asshole. Who the hell did he think he was? Hold on his glass tightening, Nathaniel tried his very best to keep a neutral expression. The beauty before him was not by any means his, no, but.. this man, he could not have her. The very nerve of him - comparing her to some inferior 'celebrity' - on his best day this man would never be worth her company. And although he wanted to, desperately, Nathaniel knew that doing something as drastic as tearing out the man's heathen tongue would not deal any real justice to his misdeeds.. and besides, the blood might get on Aibell, and he couldn't risk that. Lips tightening together for a brief moment, he considered his options. He couldn't just tell the human to leave.. so maybe perhaps he could be the one to go, Abby with him. "Hm, Aibell," he said after a moment, attention on the fae and the fae alone. The man didn't deserve so much as a glance from the wolf. "Do you mind if I spoke to you somewhere a little more.. private, for a moment?" He hoped, desperately, that she would agree. |

Day/Night ~ Dark Sweetheart

It was nice to simply be able to have a casual conversation with someone who wasn’t attempting to pull the typical sleazy ‘I want in your pants’ routine or who was just trying to get freebies out of her. Abby doubted Nathaniel would’ve cared whether she’d put his drinks on the house tab or not – at least that was how it seemed when he’d come in and sat down right near her. She was pretty certain already that he’d seen her when he’d approached after all – the sidhe could hardly be overlooked among the current occupants at the bar. "Ooh feeling generous.. well, I'm lucky then, to have caught you at such a good time." “You most certainly are. Someone always always gets lucky when I’m feeling good,” The woman winked at him slyly, before laughing again and shaking her head. Flirting tended to come second nature to her sometimes, and how could she resist when she was already enjoying the company of a past fling. Mainly because usually the past ones tended to either resent or not want anything to do with her, or they’d become idiots who thought that they were the king of the world because they’d stumbled into her bed – of course then there was the other kind of past fling which she was less than amused about. Stalkers were not fun at all. It was definitely rare to find someone who could still act just friendly about things. "Excuse me, Miss, I know you must get this a lot but... did you know that you look almost exactly like Jennifer Love Hewitt? It's rare to find women so gorgeous, these days.." Abby’s gaze slipped away from her current company to a handsome man who’d approached casually, with an air of confidence, but not too much, “Is that so? Personally I think I make her look like trailer trash, but then that could be because I’ve seen her nude shots and I certainly look much better than her naked.” A smirk curled her lips as the man was taken aback for a moment before his own smile reflected amusement at her sass. He was about to continue to chat with her, when another voice spoke up once again. "Hm, Aibell ... Do you mind if I spoke to you somewhere a little more.. private, for a moment?" As her dark eyes slid across to look at the werewolf once more, Abby’s eyebrows rose slightly, and she had to wonder what he had to discuss that was important enough to request privacy. It was her curiosity that caused her to nod before glancing back at the other man with a police smile, “Will you excuse us a moment?” She then stood and gestured for Nate to follow her to a quieter section of the club that led toward a few offices, one of them was a casual meeting room which she opened the door to, allowing him to go in first before she followed, closing the door, “So what is it you’d like to discuss?” |

It'd taken him a second of comprehension to actually realise she'd hinted at 'someone' getting lucky. By the time he opened his mouth to respond the other man had already arrived.. could he not see that she'd been talking to somebody? Fucking rude. Annoyed as he'd been his enquiry about speaking privately had been granted, and he followed behind her feeling slightly smug at the fact that he'd managed to pull her away. However, the second the door was closed Nathaniel's mouth suddenly felt amazingly dry and any words that he may have been thinking of speaking were lost. His mind went almost entirely blank, and for a moment he struggled on what he should say for a reply. However great his idea to speak to her in private had been, he hadn't actually thought as far ahead as to decide what to speak to her about. What am I supposed to do now..? He'd thought to himself, or at least, had tried to think to himself? He didn't realise until after he'd spoken that the words had been vocalised. By accident. "I-I mean, you want to do something sometime?" .. If he honestly believed that she would actually agree to going on a date-- with him - he was obviously very confused, because a Goddess such as Aibell could never even possibly consider somebody like him for such a thing. Sleeping together, sure; but that was just one night. A brief period of time in which they were together, before they went their separate ways. An actual date? That implied more. And frankly, he didn't believe that she'd deem him worth her time. He honestly expected her to just brush off the offer and walk back outside, perhaps flirt a little more with that undeserving gentleman by the bar.. He couldn't have even asked her with a little more class. He'd actually stuttered; stuttered. Who did that these days? Forcing down a sigh, he fought the urge to fidget as he awaited her response. |

Upon entering the room, Abby could only wonder what it was that the werewolf wanted to discuss with her. She honestly couldn’t think of anything that would be important enough to request privacy, so it made her a little suspicious – it was just good that there were security cameras all through the building as well as strong wards. Not that she couldn’t look after herself if he tried anything on her... ’What am I supposed to do now..?’ Abby blinked, looking up from the door she’d just closed with a confused and slightly surprised look on her face as the almost inaudible murmur. Was he talking to her? For a moment she almost thought it was possible, but it seemed that no he was actually asking himself that and she had to wonder even more just what on Earth was going on. The werewolf hadn’t seemed this... flaky... the last time they’d met. In fact he’d showed overwhelming confidence, even after the embarrassment of having found out that he’d been caught out in a lie by the owners of the establishment. She was about to ask if something was wrong when Nate continued to speak, actually talking to her this time. "I-I mean, you want to do something sometime?" If she didn’t know better, she have almost thought he was actually nervous. In fact, she was almost certain of it and the sidhe’s head tilted slightly as she leaned against the door and regarded the wolf. Was he after another one nighter? That was awfully bold of him – but then perhaps that explained the slight tension. Was this another bet? “Well, that really depends I suppose,” The faerie watched him with slight scrutiny in her gaze for a moment, “When you say ‘something’... do you mean ‘something’ as in do I want to go another round like we did last time? Or ‘something’ as in go out somewhere together and actually go do something in each others’ company?” It was possible he was asking her on a date or just to coffee or something – but considering who she was and the place she owned, she had to wonder if he thought she’d just drop everything and screw someone whenever they asked just because they’d been there once. He had asked for privacy after she'd mentioned 'getting lucky'. "Is that... why you asked to talk in private?" |

For whatever reason, her leaning on the door made him feel even more nervous. It was almost as if she was cutting off his only exit. Not that he would want to get away from her, but.. the whole 'nervousness' thing all on it's own was new to Nathaniel. He didn't know how to deal with the strange, foreign emotion, and her interpretation of his offer wasn't helping one bit. “When you say ‘something’... do you mean ‘something’ as in do I want to go another round like we did last time?” What? No-- she had the completely wrong idea! He blinked, staring at her for a moment in partial disbelief. He had at least a little more class then that; she wasn't just some kind of prostitute who he expected to bend at his will. She was a goddess bound in human (or close enough) form.. to suggest any less was an insult to her very being. "No, I mean-- no, that's not it.." He shook his head, struggling for words for several moments before he managed to just think, and form a proper sentence. "The each other's company thing.." Realising that he wasn't being very... charming, at all, he did what he could to put on a somewhat confident facade. Or, tried at the very least. "Come on Abby.. you'd think I'd get a little more credit then that; I'm not so completely tactless." |

The tension in the air grew even more if that was even possible, and Abby’s head tilted slightly as she studied the werewolf. His behaviour was very different to the first time they’d met, and she couldn’t help but be a little suspicious. Given the circumstances, wouldn’t anyone in her position? Here he was, someone she hadn’t spoken to in a couple months since a one night stand, and he’d asked to speak to her in private and was clearly edgy about something. "No, I mean-- no, that's not it... The each other's company thing.." Abby raised an eyebrow at the man as he almost had to stammer out what he meant before he finally did. Wait, was he actually asking her out? And that was the reason he was nervous? If the fae had fewer manners then she might have burst out laughing, because that was just precious and upped his cute factor. However, she didn’t want to further embarrass the man now that she realised what was going on. Had he come here to ask her out? It was possible – it also wasn’t the first time either. She’d seen a few people a second time before and become friends with them. There was no reason why she’d turn him away. "Come on Abby.. you'd think I'd get a little more credit then that; I'm not so completely tactless." The confident mask he seemed to have pulled back up a few moments later did cause her lips to curl into a small smirk though and she nodded. “Sure, why not,” The sidhe shrugged, but then her smirk formed a more genuine smile toward him. “It could be fun – I certainly had no complaints about the last time we met.” Of course, that was perhaps partially because she’d been able to pull the wool over his and his friends’ eyes, but it had been a generally fun night. “I’m up for a date.” Edited by Aibell, Mar 1 2009, 09:44 PM.

When she didn't immediately respond, Nathaniel found himself willing the ground to open and swallow him into a giant hole. It didn't even matter where that hole would lead, or even if he could ever get out.. all he wanted to do in that brief moment was sink out of existence, never to be seen or heard from again. Very fortunately the ground did not comply with his wishes. "Sure, why not," she'd said. "It could be fun," she'd said. He honestly couldn't believe it; she actually agreed. At first he thought he must've been hearing things, but she went on to say things about how it could prove to be fun, and how she had no complaints about last time they'd met... she even referred to it as a date. He barely managed to stop himself from exclaiming something like 'really? Are you SURE?' just to be confident that she hadn't made some kind of mistake.. but kept his mouth shut. Nodding, Nathaniel glanced at the doorway. "Great, well, then I guess... I'll pick you up at eight..?" For a brief moment he hadn't known what to say, but for whatever reason his mind had jumped to the latest film that Eileen had been watching back at home. It was some romance story.. toward the beginning the leading male asked the leading female out on a date, and that had been the line he'd made sure to say before leaving. Nate hadn't actually stuck around long enough to see that said male was leaving said female only to go and see his wife, who was already pregnant, and to abuse her a little... but whatever. The technique he'd used would surely still work, right? "I really should be heading off.. See you soon then," was his exiting line. Very original; the way he oh so smoothly walked out the door with that confident stride of his just made what'd been the most nerve wracking ten minutes of his life complete. He really had to call Emi for some help... he was obviously seriously ill. If it'd taken this much effort just trying to ask a woman out on a date, he could only imagine what would actually happen on the night they were scheduled to go. When was that, anyway? |

Day/Night ~ Dark Sweetheart

Aibell was almost tempted to ask Nathaniel if he was feeling alright – or if he’d been taking something – it was entirely possible he was on something, or maybe had a few too many drinks already. That was entirely possible, but she wasn’t going to say anything. Rather, she felt that he’d probably be more himself when they were out rather than while being trapped inside a room and partially interrogated by her. "Great, well, then I guess... I'll pick you up at eight..? ... I really should be heading off.. See you soon then," “Sure I--...” Abby was about to ask what day when Nate suddenly rushed past her to let himself out and through the casino, leaving her blinking after him in slight confusion. He hadn’t seemed to be in that much of a hurry earlier. But then, she was still pondering just a few moments ago whether he was on something. Another part of her was slightly suspicious at the way he’d handled himself. Was it possible that this was some kind of trap or trick? Just everything about the whole scene had seemed a little ‘off’, and she wasn’t too sure now. But oh, well she could handle herself fine. The sidhe assumed he meant tomorrow night since he hadn’t said a day and that was fine for her. She didn’t have anything on and could always find a way to contact him if she did. But for now any small things she’d been considering could be moved around for a date. And with that scenario Abby considered the other man who’d begun flirting with her before and decided she’d go and chat to him a little bit more. |
