It had been an uneventful day, which had suited Matthew's tastes just fine. Nothing really to worry about except for taking care of Jocelyn, and she was doing considerably better than she had the previous day. Lycanthropic healing was amazing, and it was made more-so when you added more lycanthropes to the mix. It never failed to impress him when he took the time to think about it. He was in his own room now, mostly dressed now in a pair of boots, blue jeans, and currently a short sleeved button up shirt that had yet to be buttoned up with a tank-top undershirt on underneath that. He had the place in mind for where he was taking Joss, and couldn't help a little smile at it. One of the other wolves had suggested it a while ago when he had asked about decent places to eat that wouldn't kill a slim budget. Buttoning up the shirt except for the top two buttons, Matt went to work on tucking the shirt into his jeans. It was hardly flashy, but it was a step up from his usual flanel and hiking attire, and a huge leap up from wearing nothing at all. Glancing around his room again, the wolf wondered if he was forgetting anything. Spotting the dark brown leather wallet, he shook his head and moved over to retrieve said wallet. It was just about time to go. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Joss was thankful that she had slept most of the day sleeping and healing. If she had been up for any longer then the few hours she had been so far she probably would have gnawed off half of her fingers rather then just nails. She was nervous about tonight. She hadn't been on a proper date since college. And her stomach was in knots about it. She hoped nothing went wrong... she hoped beyond hope that they got on well together. Away from the house and the pack. If it didn't go well things might be awkward here. She had tried to dispell this train of thought everytime her mind turned back. Nothing would be awkward. If Matt didn't find her attractive in that way they could just go on being friends, being packmates. It wouldn't be weird. With a sigh she glanced at herself in the mirror and applied a light dab of lip gloss to her lips just to make them sheen a little bit. She had tried sneaking by Matt's room and had finally lucked out. Catching a glimpse of the plain blue denim jeans layed out on his bed. She had been releived that she didn't think she had to pull out her one and only dress. So she had dressed simply in a pair of dark jeans, so dark and crisp they appeared black, her best and least used pair. They fit snuggly on her petite frame. With it she paired a simple purple v-neck short sleeved sweater. The hardest part of getting dressed had been trying to put her bra on. Her right arm was once again working but it was stiff and sore if she moved it more then a couple inches in either direction. SO putting on her bra had been a task in itself. She had no idea what was planned for the evening. That of course was part of the excitement that added to the butterflies in her stomach. She had complete trust and faith in Matt. With one last look in the mirror she grabbed up her wallet and slid it into her front pocket. She wasn't going to expect Matt to pay for everything. She was the one with the steady job after all. Plus it wasn't good to assume. Always be prepared and all that. So with that the petite blonde moved from her room and out into the hallway. She had to walk past Matt's door to go downstairs and seeing it still closed she assumed he was still in there. She glanced down at her watch as she stood outside his door. It was only a few minutes away from the time they had agreed upon. Stretching her still stiff arm she raised it and forced herself to use it to rap gently upon his door. She had to loosen it up, move her arm about so it didn't heal too stiffly. "Matt?" She called tentativly. "Ready?" She asked her voice a little nervous. He could after all still back out. |

Sliding the wallet in his back pocket as Matthew turned at the same time towards the door to his room. The faint creaking in the hall was all he needed to know that Jocelyn was ready. She called his name and then asked if he was ready. With a wolfish grin, Matt walked the few steps to the door before opening and stepping out into the hallway; and coming almost face to face with his intended date. Golden eyes stared unblinking into hazel, the sudden closeness causing a brief pause as wolf instinct was pushed down. His grin turned into a small smile, and he stepped back half of a step. “Yeah, I’m ready if you are Joss.” He wasn’t entirely sure nor comfortable in this kind of situation, but out of all the other wolves, she had seemed to warm up to him the most. Then again, she was one of the few that knew him before he was appointed to be the Bolverk. He had been meaning to ask her out on a date for a couple weeks now, but there had never seemed to be a good time. The events of the previous day had put some things in perspective, and he was making time now. “Still feeling okay I hope? You don’t need to worry, everything’s gonna be easy. When figuring out where to go I took in what condition you might be in.” He hardly meant that in any kind of bad way, instead meaning it to be taken as nothing would be physically straining tonight. Just an easy night out to relax and have fun, enjoying themselves as much as they could without any restraints. Moving past Joss and down the stairs, he grabbed his keys off of the hook. It hadn’t been a lot of money he had saved; he had had enough for emergencies and staying in one place as a human for a few months if he had to. That had changed in a few ways. He expected to stay here for a bit longer than a few months, but had also taken up a position with the forest rangers in the area as part of their search and rescue squad. With that type of job, it’d be more than a little suspicious if he just showed up at work every day without a vehicle or anyone dropping him off. So in light of the job, and a seemingly stationary setting, Matthew had gotten himself an old Jeep Cherokee outfitted for off roading. It hadn’t cost him that much and he was pleased with the purchase. Holding the front door open for Joss, Matt turned back towards her as he motioned towards the blue partially off road vehicle. “I left it unlocked. I doubt many people are gonna try to take anything from us here.” He’s also help her up into the seat if she needed it, the off road aspect left it inordinately high off of the ground. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Jocelyn smiled as the door was opened and Matt emerged. She had to force the sudden urge to step back from the dominating wolf though as he stood before you. And had her own wolf been more a part of her probably would have done so before Matt himself took a half step back. "Yes ready." She said a little breathily. Normally she wouldn't be so effected by Matt but actually having the date loom before her she was excited and nervous and could look at him in this moment as more then a friend, roomate, packmate or even the dominant bolverk. She nodded he asked about how she was feeling then smiled as he explained he planned for her condition. She knew what he meant immediatly and took no offense to it. "I knew you were more considerate then you lead people to believe." She teased lightly. She followed after Matt down the stairs and to the front door. She still didn't understand how he had procured the jeep or what this new job he had picked up entailed but she was proud of him none the less. It also meant to her that he was probably going to be around for awhile. He was settling in. And that made her and her wolf very happy. They both wanted Matt around. Her wolf enjoyed playing with him. Even though he was so much larger then she and clearly more dominant he let her Wolf tease and play with him. And Joss appreciated that too. "Well hopefully no one knows or would stumble across us here. And most of the pack is too scared of you to try anything." Joss said as she moved around to the passenger side of the jeep. While she could open the door with ease getting up into the slightly elevated truck was not as easy and she gratefully accepted the help from Matt into the truck. Once he joined her inside and she was buckled in securely she turned slightly to face him. Her heart was already racing and they hadn't even left yet. She hadn't felt like this... in well... ever so it was all very new to her. Sure she'd had crushes but she'd never been out on a date with a crush. She'd dated sure but it hadn't been like this. And with both her wolf and herself liking him it was like nothing she had ever experienced before. "So do I get to know the plan for the evening or do you like keeping it surprises?" Joss asked. She kinda liked the idea that Matt had gone to the trouble to plan something out while keeping in mind her condition. Made her feel all warm and squishy inside knowing that he had thought about her. |

Matthew snorted back a laugh at him being considerate. He doubted anyone would believe her if she told them, though he knew she was right as well. Shrugging slightly, Matt followed her outside and helped her into the jeep. “I doubt anyone would, Pack or not. Not around here at least. If we were in the city maybe, but not here.” After closing the door after Joss was situated, Matt took a quick glance around the safe house grounds, then a look at the house before he turned away and went around the jeep. Getting in the driver’s side was a simple, if not mildly awkward task to the usually wolf-bound man, but he managed well enough, and driving was just like riding a bike, you never really forgot how. He’d spent a few hours when he first got it getting back into the groove of it though, just in case. His own emotions matched Jocelyn’s, albeit much more subdued. Dating was never really in the foreground of his mind. The golden eyes could be dismissed most of the time, but the elongated incisor teeth on both his upper and lower jaw weren’t quite as easy to explain away. Sure some people had larger than usual incisors, but his weren’t quite human, and with his eyes also odd…. Needless to say, he had spent more time trying to find excuses and explaining away his abnormalities than he did actually having fun. Which of course had fairly effectively ended any dating career he might have tried; he had never really minded that though, knowing not many people would be willing to live the type of lifestyle he usually ran. Now was different though. He had a place he belonged, and as of this moment he had no reason to leave or take off wandering. Starting the jeep, Matt revved the engine a bit and then started off towards the city. “I think you’ll like it. It’s a nice quiet café. Not too many people there, but they’re busy enough to keep running, so it’s not like it’ll be run down or anything. Just a nice place to talk and maybe get to know one another a little better.” Laughing a little at that remark, more-so because they lived in the same house than for any other reason, Matt turned to look at Joss. “I know we live together and all, but how often do you get to dedicate time specifically to find out more about someone. Hope you don’t learn anything you don’t like.” He paused for a moment, turning to look back at the road as the jeep picked up speed. “And after dinner, I thought we could see some of the sights. We can do anything you’d like to do too, we have all night.” The sun was low in the sky by this point, not yet set, but getting around that time. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Joss stared across the small space at him as her senses tried to pick up if he was at least slightly excited about their forth coming date and smiled a little as she thought she sensed a bit of a speedier heartrate from Matt. Meaning, hopefully, he was a little excited and/or nervous as she was. Joss was not at all put off by his appearrance. She actually loved his gold wolven eyes and while the teeth could be a bit intimidating and scary Matt didn't use them to intimidate. At least not her and so Joss really didn't think about them as anything more then a striking compliment to his handsome face. She found him very handsome indeed. She smiled as Matt easily explained his plans for the date ahead. A nice dinner to get to know each other sounded perfect to her. But she laughed with him. HAving lived together for weeks now you would think that they would have gotten to know each other more t hen they had. But without cause Joss would never question Matt outright. And between trying to fix up things in the house and keeping her job at the legless frog and Matt out on runs alot it seemed there time together had been minimal. In fact Joss wondered if the majority of their time together hadn't been spent in wolf form. She thought on that for a moment while Matt went on. "We haven't really had a chance to just sit down and gab." Joss agreed. "And that goes ditto for me... hoping y ou don't find out something you don't like." Joss added. He had already admitted in front of her what she thought would be his worst secret and she didn't hold it against him. And she thought she was holding some dark secrets herself. Though killing your own parent seemed to be worst then any demons she held. She perked up though as he mentioned going to see the sites. "Ohh that sounds perfect. I've been here only slightly longer then you and I still haven't gotten the time to see anything. I mean I've seen the Eiffel tower but only the tippy top through the buildings and...." JOss realized she was rambling a bit nervously she laughed at herself. All night... with Matt. She couldn't stop smiling at the thought. "Sounds like a wonderful night Matt. You ARE very thoughtful." Joss clipped. Unable to stop smiling she blushed a little at her ridiculousness. |

The jeep sped down the road going well over the posted speed limit, but rode as smooth as if they were gliding through air. Being a little more than human gave a person an edge when it came to doing normal things. His reactive speeds were much higher than the average human and his instincts sharper as well. Too much time with the beast gave him a slightly better edge on most other lycanthropes as well; but that was a double-edged sword. Most of the time it seemed to work for him, but there were times when it went against him. Driving was one of those times it worked for him though; Matthew Emerson had never wrecked a car on accident. “I doubt anything you’ve done can compare with what I’ve done, or what those I used to run with did. There’s a reason I’m not in the States anymore. It’s less complicated here.” He smiled faintly, his hand reaching over to take hold of Joss’ hand to just hold. He hoped she’d have fun tonight, and stay relaxed. This wasn’t supposed to be a hectic or stressful night, it’s just a night to relax and enjoy life. And by her reaction to the mention of seeing some of the more notable Paris sites, he thought everything was starting off fairly well. “Well, tonight you’ll get to see the whole city lit up from upon high.” Matt grinned, looking over towards Joss. “And after that, we’ll get a little closer, more intimate view of the city, where everyone won’t look like a bug. And y’know, as this is an official first date, I wanted to make it kinda special. Night to remember.” They were almost inside the city limits now, and the jeep steadily slowed to just above the posted limit. Wasn’t good to get in trouble with the local law. “The place we’re looking for is only a few blocks into the city. It’s got one of those little pyramid signs out front announcing the daily specials. I thought it was kinda cute in a quaint little way. And they serve a nice variety of foods. Little bit of the most common food types.” The jeep took another speed reduction then, Matthew’s eyes returning to the road as the first parked cars were being passed. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss

Joss was giving little notice to how easily they were gliding through the streets into Paris. All of her attention was on the man beside her. Had she noticed she might have been holding onto the Oh Shit Handle instead of dreamily blushing at Matt. She smiled and nodded at what he said about him doubting she had done anything worse then he had. She was sure she hadn't. It was more the things that had been to her that she was ashamed of. Fearful that he would look down upon her even more. Though she was submissive and bottom of the totem pole in the pack she still didn't want him to think she was completely sullied. She didn't think any further on it though as Matt reached over to take her hand. Her smaller one curled around his, the tips of her fingers gently brushing over the back of his hand. She lifted her head as he looked over at her meeting his grin with a smile of her own. Her heart flutterred at his words. A night to remember. And it already was. Just by being with him. "Sounds wonderful Matt. I'm already dually impressed and all a flutter." Joss said both sincerely and teasingly. Joss sighed happily her hand tightening on his abit as he described the place they were going to eat dinner. "Sounds perfect. Of course I eat just about everything. Cept sushi... I can't seem to do the raw fish thing... though I don't seem to have a problem with raw beef anymore." Joss teased. When Matt's eyes turned back to the road, her eyes widened realizing how little they had been there before, she shook her head with a silent laugh to herself and turned to look at the streets to see if she could spot the eatery Matt had described. In an effort to learn more about the rather quiet Matt she inquired. "So what is your favorite kind of food? ANything you absolutely won't eat like me and sushi?" She asked also preparing to add it to her memory banks if it was something she could prepare at home for Matt. If things went well tonight cooking his favorite food at home might be a nice 'second date.' Joss lifted slightly in her seat as she spotted a bistro with a placard chalk board set outside like Matt had described. |

“Raw fish actually isn’t that bad when there’s nothing else around to catch. Little hard to catch though, regardless of what form I’m in. But in general, I’m not much of a fish person.” He laughed at the raw beef comment. “Hard to get steak that fresh around here.” Grinning, he turned down the street he was pretty sure had the place on it as Joss asked her question. “Well, I don’t think there’s anything I won’t eat, if I’m hungry enough, though I have to agree with the general fish dislike, but I’ll eat it if that’s all there is. I’m kinda like a garbage disposal that way.” He spotted the sign a moment after Joss did, and slowed to a crawl before sliding into one of the available parking spots. Putting the jeep into park, Matthew cut the engine and slid the keys into his pocket. “I’d probably have to say one of my favorite foods is steak, with a big baked potato stuffed with the works.” Of course, a single steak and potato could hardly come close to sating a lycanthrope’s appetite. It was though, one of his most favorite meals there was. Giving Joss’ hand a small squeeze before releasing it, Matthew hopped out of the jeep, and walked around the front to Joss’ side. Opening the door, Matt then would help Joss down out of the cab. Moments later they’d be inside the bistro and seated. The place had a few customers in it, but it wasn’t bustling with huge dinner wait times like the big places in the city would have. Once there drinks got there, Matt took a large drink before setting his glass back down. He almost asked how work had been, but work was an off subject for the Bolverk. Work was almost always stressful, just because it was work. “What kinda things do you like to do to relax and enjoy yourself?” Most of his experience with her had been as a wolf, but he knew how hard that could be on her, and he wanted to find out what not shifter things there might be able to do together to have fun. |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Joss actually could picture Matt in his wolf form simply plucking fish from some stream by grabbing them up in his maw. She smiled at the thought. Of course assuming that all lesser beings, fish included, would probably just do whatever Matt wanted them too. She had to surpress a slight giggle. "True a whole raw steak isn't exactly something anyone would serve. Not in a restaurant at least. And I do like at least a little singe on it. But I've actually tried some carpaccio and that was delicious... but the serving was not at all filling. I'm not big on fish either but will eat it. As long as it's cooked first." Joss laughed. She released his hand as he pulled into a spot near to the bistro she had thought matched his description. Her smile spread as Matt stated his favorite meal was one of her own. She was already planning the meal in her head. A big london broil and twice baked potatoes instead of just baked. SO she could get all his fixins in them. She smiled as she planned it out in her head already. She was grinning widly as Matt helped her out of the jeep and into the restaurant. Her eyes were all for him barely taking note of the decor or any of the customers around her. Though her keen nose denoted human and fresh ingredients from the kitchen. She ordered a glass of red wine. She wasn't much of a drinker but a little nip to calm her fluttering stomach might be a good thing. When the drinks came however she merely swirled the glass of red without touching it just yet. Her right was folded to rest in her lap. Saving up what strength it had so she could use both arms to eat. She smiled at the waiter before he left and all her attention was returned to Matt as he asked his question. "Well. I've always loved to read. That relaxes me alot. If I had more money or time and once I get either as well as become more fluent in French I'd probably like to go check out some theatre here. I dunno I just enjoy all the creative arts type stuff. Theatre, dance, books, plays, movies, art. Not that I've had time or money to enjoy much of it here. Which seems kind of a shame." Joss laughed finally lifting the glass to take a sip. "I used to do alot of that stuff... before. I mean I wanted to be this great actress. Long ago and far away and all that." Joss said with a smile. She was thinking and speaking on things that had all been top of her list before her change. She assumed that Matt would catch her drift about what she meant rather then having to state it outloud in a public place. After her change she hadn't had much chance to explore her likes. Save for the few times she had been forced to sing on street corners for whatever money she could make. "I used to do karaoke too." Joss added as an after thought. "What about you? I'm sure you're all very manly and like sports or hiking or some such." Joss said. Though she was aware that Matt did go out for long runs alot. Or maybe he was hunting or doing something else. It was then part of her wished she could shift easier so she could join him on more runs. |

Matt smiled to himself when she went over what the things she liked. Some he would have no problem going along with and others he knew he wouldn’t be able to touch with a ten foot pool. Example, he too enjoyed reading. They probably liked reading completely different things though. He was a hard core detective novel fan. Matt nodded a little in agreement at the lack of monetary funds to power their recreational needs. “Big shame, definitely.” His head tilted slightly, eyes staring at her unblinkingly for a long moment before he straightened and shrugged his shoulders some. “Sometimes life changes can help you with a dream rather than hinder or smother it out altogether. Now, for example, you’re pretty free to try and pursue that type of career if you wanted. I’m sure there are things you can do now that you never could before.” He was referring to the increased physical condition lycanthropes had. She was stronger than most humans now, probably more coordinated as well. Humans never had to worry about suddenly sprouting two more legs and running around on them. It gave lycanthropes an edge when doing anything physical. “You should still do karaoke Joss! Nothing going wrong in your life should stop you from having fun, y’know? Specially harmless fun like that.” Laughing quietly, Matthew nodded his head but didn’t speak as the server came over to take their orders. Matt waited until Jocelyn ordered her food, and then ordered two helpings of some beef pot roast they had with all the fixings. Once the server left, Matt looked back towards Joss. “Well, sports are kinda out of it. Not too many want to play full contact sports with me. I do love hiking though. Just being out and about in general. Speaking of which, I found some nice places close to the house. They’re kinda hidden and out of the way, but great places to go. I’ll have to take ya out there sometime.” “I dunno really though. Not sure what I like. I know what I’m good at, so you could say I like doing that, but it’s nothing as glorious as what you like to do. I like more of the physical activities. They make me feel good.” Matt took another drink of the ice water and then set down the half empty glass. “Hmm. Here’s an easy one, what’s your favorite color?” |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss

Joss shrugged off the no fundage issue. The last year had taught her to deal with less. Alot less. But being able to go to the theatre again was something she would hope to be able to splurge upon again in the near future. But she had other needs first. And though her savings was growing with her job theatre was one of the last things she could splurge on. She smiled at Matt as he tried to be encouraging about pursuing acting again. It took money to try and persue it. Head shots, time to audition, possible agents etc. Plus the fact that she was terrified of her wolf begging to be freed at the wrong time. Yes she could do things faster, yes her stamina was greater. She could probably sing while spinning now. But she was still too afraid that her wolf would pop out at the wrong time. "I think it's a dream best left in the past. I persued it for enough years without much success." Joss grinned. She laughed as Matt whole heartedly encouraged her to go do karaoke. "Only if you'll come with me. I promise you won't have to sing but it's nice to know someone in the crowd. Someone to sing to." Joss said blushing a little her head dipping down in that submissive nature of hers. Holding the menu she ordered a sliced steak over salad and immediatly regretted her choice when she heard Matt order the pot roast. That sounded good too. But she wouldn't fuss or change her order. Her head picked up again as Matt spoke again about his likes. She giggled as he joked about no one wanting to play with him. She perked up though at him offering to take her to some hidden places. "I'd like that. I wasn't much of the outdoorsy hiking type till last year. I still need a guide and some help." Joss said softly. When he went on about not really knowing but liking physical activities and what he was good and and made him feel good Joss's head ducked and she turned beet red. She really had to get her mind out of the gutter. She smirked as he asked the easy question. "Hmmm very easy." Joss said her head lifting a little. She plucked at her purple sweater top. "Purple. With teal... or ummm blue green in guy speak, a close second." Joss laughed. Matt made her feel comfortable. Even though he was Bolverk and dominant and just UBER to her he made her so comfortable to be around him. He wasn't pretenious or off putting and she really didn't understand why most of the pack was so scared of him. Unless maybe this was a side he only showed to her. In which case she felt very special and honored. "Ok here's a hypothetical for you... money is not an issue, you have every luxury at your disposal. You can do whatever you want with your time. What would you do or where would you go... who would you see for your most perfect day?" Joss threw out there leaning forward she reached to take a peice of bread from the basket set between them. Ripping it apart and taking a bite. |

He let the issue about acting drop. There was more to it than just going out and acting he knew, but he didn’t like letting the fact someone turned furry sometimes stopping them from pursuing their dreams. Maybe the topic would be broached again in the future. For now though he’d let it go. He grinned again, nodding his head. “Sure I’d go with you. But I whole-heartedly agree with the no singing policy for myself. I’d clear out the room in ten seconds flat.” His head tilted, eyes slightly confused when Joss turned red and ducked her head. It took a moment, but he chuckled then when he realized why, and mumbled a quiet sorry, grateful for the change of topic and her answer to his question. “I have to agree, I like the blue green family of colors myself. It’s called teal though, huh? I’ll have to remember that, might come in handy some day.” He smiled casually, leaning back a little in his chair as he relaxed slowly out of the high alert he was usually in. Part of him was still alert, but it was a passive thing now, the night turning out casual putting him at ease. “Hmm, now there’s a question. What would I do and who would I see. And money not being an object.” Matt stared at the bread basket for a few long minutes, brows furrowed in thought. There were any number of answers to this, but when he really thought about it, Matthew couldn’t find any reason he’d actually want to meet someone famous or important. After all, meeting a famous person probably wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Exploring was an option, but he could do that anytime, so that could hardly count. Finally Matt leaned forward, elbows resting against the table top. He reached over and grabbed a breadstick of his own. Taking a bite, Matt took his time chewing, then swallowed it down with a drink of water. “Well, there’s your typical answers, but after some thought, they’re all worthless anyway. Most are shallow people anyway, only important because they’re popular for one reason or another. I’d have to say that your hypothetical is my current reality. Thus far, today has been rather perfect I think.” “Alright, my turn. Let’s say that you’ve been forced onto a deserted island. By some miracle, however it was you got there, you had three items of your choice. What would those items be?” |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss
|
Joss blushed harder when Matt earnestly apologized. She realized quickly that it was SHE who had gone to the gutter with her thoughts and not him. So she decided quickly to change the subject and move on. Even if her cheeks did not loose there rosey hue. She smiled as he liked the blue green family himself. A soft chuckle at his manish innocence of the girly named colors. Joss was so at ease with Matt it was easy to just converse with him. Even as she chomped on bread. She didn't feel overly self conscious around him and was clearly and obviously interested in what he had to say or ask. She smiled as he pondered her hypothetical. Leaning forward herself as Matt pondered she smiled at the length of time he was taking to ponder her question. She liked that he was thinking about it. Not just throwing out some generic answer at her. She smiled as he leaned in seeming to have come to some conclusion. She waited a bit eagerly as he chewed his breadstick and drank his water. And she nodded as he began. And then she stopped moving all together as he about knocked her upside the head with his response. Her mouth fell open and she stared at him. He was including her in his perfect day. No one had ever cared enough to include her in such things. She was still gawping at him when he went on to ask his own question. She was still digesting his answer and trying not to cry like an over anxious sap. Matt really knew what to say to make her insides twitter and flutter. "I..." She stammered to answer. Her first thought was for Matt to be there with her but he had said items and she hardly thought of Matt as an item or an object. "Hmmm." Joss pondered aloud. "I ... hmmm " Joss started and stopped as other things and items ran through her head. "Umm a gps satellite phone?" Joss laughed. "A lighter and uhhh... a notebook and pen." Joss finally answered with a laugh. "Hopefully I wouldn't be there too long." Her hand went up to the back of her neck thinking of the chip there which could supposedly track her wherever she was. She quickly pulled her hand away and dropped it into her lap. "Honestly I'm afraid I wouldn't survive long alone on an island." Joss said with a shrug. "So scratch that off your list of possible second dates." Joss joked. "Though if you were there I'd probably last a bit longer." Joss was still laughing. She moved to lean back into the table. Leaning in closer to Matt. She just stared into his golden eyes for a moment. She was nowhere near his level and yet here he was with her. Claiming that was a good night. "Do you know how lucky I feel right now?" SHe suddenly said absently. She didn't even realize what was coming out of her mouth. It wasn't even a thought that was processed before she said it. It just came out. And she sat there smiling and laughing at herself. "You can choose to ignore me at any point. I usually have a better filter but something about you just makes me want to open up and talk and not even think about what I'm saying." Joss shook her head at herself. Her good arm lifted and she waved away what she said. "Ok ok ok... new question. New Question." JOss said as she stalled trying to think of one. "Ok the cliche... Tell me about your exes? Anything serious? Anything Funny? Embarrassing?" Joss pondered aloud. |

He was feeling the same way about Joss as she was about him. He didn’t care to know why, but a sound theory would have been that he didn’t have to prove anything to her. She took him as he was, and that was that. His smile stayed genuine when her jaw dropped at his answer. It was simple truth, but he was happy she seemed to like his answer. Matt laughed a little when she stammered over her items. All in all they were sound choices. “I’m sure you’d do fine. It all depends how big the island is. If I could walk across the island in an hour, it’s gonna be too small, and I doubt I’d survive long myself. But I like your pick of things to take. The phone will get you rescued, the lighter will keep ya warm, and then pen and paper will keep the boredom away. All in all, very sound choices.” His smile broke into a grin. “But that’s not anything I planned on doing anytime ever; I just think it is an interesting question.” Matt reached across the table, taking Joss’ hand in his own, his fingers lightly tracing up and down the side of her hand lazily. “Wouldn’t dream of ignoring you Joss, I’m genuinely curious about getting to know you better, and every little bit lets me know more.” He chuckled quietly when she asked her next question. One of the big ones, but he’d probably disappoint her with the answer. “Well, there isn’t much to tell really. Fooled around with a few girls in high school, nothing really serious. And then the events that led up to my parents…,” Matt paused there for a minute. He knew she would know what he meant, about their deaths. “Then before I had control, there was a rather embarrassing incident.” To anyone else, that could have meant anything, but losing control to your beast in the heat of passion was another embarrassment altogether. More-so with his current level of control taken into consideration. “Luckily my other family was there to help me through that episode, and nothing bad happened. Other than that, not much else in the Ex department. There just seems to be something about me most women aren’t attracted to.” He grinned and winked at her. The feel of his beast was always close to the surface, add in the canines and golden eyes, and most normal women shied away from him. His fingers continued their lazy path from the tips of her fingers down to the inside of her wrist, then back up again. “Alright, try this one. What are the five most important things in your life right now?” |

She smiled as he agreed, alone on a deserted would not be the ideal way to spend their time together anytime soon. It felt like her heart jumped up into her throat as he reached across and took her hand. She jumped slightly at his touch then instantly melted. Her heart trickling down her throat to melt all the way down to her toes as his fingers traced over the side of her hand. She could actually feel the heat of her blush rising up her cheeks as she smirked at him. Her fingers tightening gently to hold his hand but still leave his fingers free to brush over her flesh. She smiled and listened as he glossed over past relationships or his lack there of. She nodded about his high school years as hers was much the same. Though back then her long relationships of weeks seemed like such heart breaking things when they ended. She smirked at that thought of how naive she had once been. How she didn't really know what heartbreak was back then. Her smirk fell to a more serious look as he went on though. Bringing up his parents and then something else. Both eyebrows flew up on her forehead because the idea of Matt having an 'incident', if she was jumping to the right conclusions, seemed impossible. She scoffed as Matt said there was something about him that women weren't attracted too. "Stupid girls. Lucky me." She mumbled softly with a smile. Some might find it odd that someone so dissassociated with their own wolf would be attracted to and gaga over someone who was so closely connected to theirs that they were the closest to one being that they could be. Perhaps Joss could appreciate and adore that in others which she could not acheive herself? Plus she found comfort in both Matt and his beast. She was comfortable with both as both had shown her care and consideration as well as playfullness and friendship. She stared down at his hand, his fingers lazily stroking over her own as he asked his next question. Part of her a bit relieved that he didn't turn around her own question back on her. She smiled as she kept her eyes downcast at his stroking fingers. "My.... friends." Joss started though she had to pause to keep herself from saying the word Pack in a public place. "Making the house perfect, my job, saving enough money for a car and... well most important right now..." Joss paused. She shifted her hand under his so she could lace her fingers with his. It stopped that soothing motion of his fingers tracing over her flesh. But it felt just as good to lock her fingers with his. " Is you." She said the last finally lifting her head up to look at him. She paused trying to gauge is reaction. She couldn't think of anything else in that moment to ask. Plus she didn't want to ruin the moment just yet by talking further. |

He smirked some at her lucky me comment. He was just as luck as she was, he felt. Her acceptance of him as is was such an immense relief sometimes. Other times he wondered what she must be thinking, what possessed her to think of him on such friendly terms. Now was not one of the latter moments however, the closeness of the pair too comfortable for such doubts to plague his mind. His beast stalked just under the surface, not needing the veil to be lifted to allow that part of him free reign. It too approved of the woman, enjoying the company she brought both as a human and as a wolf. They had been months without another being to socialize with, and now the wolf rumbled it’s content at Matthew’s choice of companion, just as Matthew could not have asked for anyone else at that moment to be with. He listened intently as she gave her answer. He caught her meaning at the paused friends, chuckling to himself and nodding in agreement. The Pack was a very important part of life, both of theirs, as they were both part of it, but Joss had been there before he had, and for her he knew it had more meaning. The next three things he expected in some way, shape, or form. He thought for a moment, and would offer his jeep to her. He didn’t need it that often, and he knew she could use it more often than he did. He would ask her if she wanted to use it after he found out the fifth most important thing to her. Matt’s eyes lowered to look at their now joined hands, a smile pulling at the edges of his mouth. When she said that he was the most important thing in his life right now, a look of surprise crossed his features then he broke into a smile. His fingers tightened fractionally, giving Joss’ hand a light squeeze before he lifted her hand up and placed a light kiss on the back of her hand. He kept her hand there a moment, taking in the light scent that was her, his eyes locking onto hers still smiling. Matt barely inclined his head; a quiet thank you said as the server came and dropped off their food. “I must say, my dear Jocelyn, that your final answer was quite surprising. We’ve barely gotten to know one another, but somehow I know you mean it. Which is crazy, but you’re on my top five list as well.” He grinned then, giving her hand another light squeeze. He wasn’t quite sure what to make of the situation, but he knew it wasn’t a bad one. |

Joss could somehow feel his beast, the warmth of it so close to the surface. A part of her was a bit jealous that he was so in tune with his beast that he could allow it to do that without having to worry about the wolf trying to bust free at the most inoppurtune moment. As it was she had her wolf so tampered down it was hard to sense it at all. Though SHE could feel it stir wanting to brush against the feel of Matt's own beast. But she kept her hold on it. She would be damned if it would ruin THIS night of all nights. The look of surprise that crossed his face when she admitted that he was currently topping her list caught her off guard for a moment. Who else would she be here if he weren't important to her. His smile though reassured her and the kiss to the back of her hand even more so. Her eyes met his freely. This was not a domination game. It was not a play for pack position, it was two people sharing an intimate moment. No pack politics involved. And for that Jocelyn was happy. Jocelyn lifted her head to give the waiter a smile as he placed their meals before them. But just as quickly her attention returned back to Matt. Joss laughed slightly and smiled as he spoke. Her hand squeezed his gently in return. "I do mean it. Because we're still getting to know each other that's what makes you so important to me right now. I want to learn more... all that I can about you. Get to know you better and let you get to know me better. That's my priority right now. You..." Joss smiled. She took a deep breath inhaling the scent of his pot roast. She gently slid her fingers from between his to release his hand so they were free to eat with both hands. "Now we have all night to discover more about each other, and hopefully more then just tonight if things go as well as I hope, and they already are. Let's enjoy our food for right now." Joss said. Picking up knife and fork she began cutting the steak on her salad so she could enjoy it. As the fork was on the way to her mouth with her first bite she smiled cheekily at Matt. "By the way I will be sampling some of yours." She teased lightly before taking her first bite. Matt made her so comfortable she was able to be bold. They were here on a date and so she was behaving as she would on a date regardless of the fact that she was with a high ranking pack member. Regardless that she had acknowledged him as dominant to her. If she wanted to steal something off his plate she was going to. She smiled as she chewed. |

“I shall do all that I can to ensure that you succeed. We’ll leave no stone unturned in our mutual quest of enlightenment and understanding.” It was true, but he was also teasing in a way, laughing at himself and his own silliness. Matt usually had two modes, either extremely serious, or very relaxed and laid back. Most of the time he was very relaxed, as he was now; serious mode was only for serious times, like when the pack was in trouble, or something required it. “We’ve got all night, no interruptions, promise.” He picked up his fork, digging in to his pot roast, grinning as he took the first bite of his food. “I thought you might want to do something like that.” Matt’s grin widened fractionally. “I’ve got plenty though, so don’t feel shy about it.” Motioning with his fork to the second bowl-like plate of the dish, he nodded slightly. “And part of that is definitely yours too.” Matt scooped up another bite, chewing slowly to savor the taste. “Mmm, you won’t be disappointed either.” Pausing for a moment to take a drink of his water, Matt also discretely sniffed the air a few times. His heightened senses brought a lot more to his attention than it would to most people. “Hm, the steak salad doesn’t sme…look half bad either. Nice and crispy lettuce, tender pieces of steak cooked just right.” His mouth was watering just thinking about it. Getting a piece of break, Matt broke it in half and then dipped it into the dark gravy before eating it. “This was a good choice to come to for food, I’ll give ‘em that.” |

Sub Wolf / Poor Joss

Joss couldn't help but smile at Matt's words. A small laugh that he was about as adamant as her about getting to know each other better. He had the teasing tone but they both knew there was a bit of truth to it. "I only wish the night could be filled with more hours. It's weird part of me can't wait to learn and discover all I can about you. And another part of me wants to prolong it and learn something new about you everyday. It's very frustrating to want both." Joss laughed. She beamed as Matt freely invited her to partake of his pot roast. "Oh trust me. When it comes to food that's at least one thing I"m not so shy about." Joss teased. She nodded as he commented about her salad. "Not bad its not bad. Not quite as hearty as your meal. Sorta regretting my attempt at dainty girl eats for the first date. But at least you agreed to share." Joss smiled. She forked a bit of steak and salad and held it out towards Matt Offering him a bite of her salad. "Comparison taste test. I'm betting yours is definatly more fullfilling." Joss teased. Twirling the fork slightly in mid air. she was having her best night in Paris so far. Matt was the man and the wolf that made her feel like her old self again. Bubbly, hopefull, talkative and at ease. But he also brought out a part of her that had never been there before. The part that acecpted pack life. The part that recognized him as dominant, bolverk and wolf. And was comfortable with it all. |
