Golden eyes scanned the horizon of the Pride's meeting area. The male was aware of the many aspects of ruling a Pride and had become familiar with the area around him. The lion was waiting to become the Rex of a Pride ever since he'd left his old home in London. He was a good leader, that much he already knew, was already aware of that fact, but that didn't mean he was opposed to not being a leader. It was just something he would prefer. Shaking his head, Shane pulled himself out of his reverie and looked around once more. Something about this area seemed to call to him and a low growl escaped his lips. It was as though something seemed to tell him that he was meant to be a Rex...that he was meant to lead. Shaking his head slightly, his gaze wandered once ore and a sigh escaped his lips. |

Werelion - Submissive

The Pride meeting area had not been used in a very, very long time. Though there were lions in Paris, none of them had made any true effort to form a group, each of them feeling negatively towards such a thing for different reasons. For Catherine, she simply couldn't see herself fitting in with the lions anymore, especially with her duties to Sage preventing her from doing much. She had already come to the realization that others did not think that well of her. It bothered her a little, but her devotion to Sage was simply set in stone, in a similar way that Ange was dedicated to Gerard. Still, the event of a new lion coming to Paris was not one to be ignored, not by a long shot. She was positive that Sage would reward her for recruiting a lion into his midsts, however useless he or she turned out to be. And thus she had ended up, inevitably, at the pride grounds. She was dressed simply, jeans and a t-shirt. A fair distance way, a male stood. Even from such a distance she could sense his beast, something that her beast immediately responded to. If Catherine did not have as much control as she did, her beast would have simply physically and metaphysically curled up to the man in every sense. As it were though, she walked up to him and stood a few comfortable meters away from him, not greeting him formally or informally, but simply standing there. “I hope you weren't expecting a group of us here...” Catherine said softly. “There has not been a proper pride in Paris since our old Rex disappeared...and that was months ago.” Hugging herself softly, mainly to calm her beast than anything else, Catherine looked at the surroundings of the old pride ground, the soft scent of lion on the wind. “I'm Catherine.” She said, not moving from where she stood. She knew male lions all to well and that they weren't exactly the kindest of creatures. In fact most of them wanted to prove that they were the biggest and baddest out there. And thus she distanced herself, hoping that he wouldn't attempt anything. She didn't have the strength to defend herself and she was feeling hungry, as per usual. “What brings you here, of all places?” |

It wasn't a place she really belonged, she had things to do elsewhere... people to take care of, but so far she had avoided the pride grounds in Paris. She had known its place for many years, seen it in passing or discussed it with other lions during her visits to the fair city of Paris. The lions she had seen since her arrival this time, that she was scarcely sure she wanted to know the what the pride was like, who it's leaders were. She didn't need these lions... but it didn't mean she wasn't curious in the slightest. Ultimately it came down to the fact they were kin, in some small way... and she wanted to know what was going on, welcome or not. The wind whipped through the long grass, making it ripple and sway like the ocean, beating up against the rocks where they stood further out onto the pridelands. She had kept herself hidden and out of sight when she watched the male approach at first. She had never seen him before, which while not surprising was... curious. She could feel him from the distance, but kept her beast easily in control and didn't betray herself. Alpha male or non, Angelica was simply here for curiosities sake and she did intend on knowing the lions of Paris eventually.. one way or another. So if she had to sneak up on them now and then, at least it would be interesting. Actually, she probably could have walked right up to this one... but that took the fun out of him slowly realising someone was watching, that mixed with the faded scent of lions rubbed against the rocks and trees there were real lions and he wasn't necessarily just growling at nothing. And if he wasn't from the pride and was no good? ...well, she know how to chase off the misfits. The thought brought a sly grin to her lips before she reminded herself that it might help to meet the man before she decided on behalf of lions she barely knew if he was good enough. It was while she was caught in these thoughts she caught a familiar scent which stopped her in her tracks. Catherine! instantly she smiled, and this time it was a friendly, easy thing. Nothing born out of wicked intentions or bad memories that Alpha males sometimes brought up. She watched Catherine approach the other lion and felt a little sorry for the girl and all her nerves. Catherine didn't have half the control Angelica had over her beast. Her beast was calm but curious, well within her shields and safe from showing where she was. Eventually, after Catherine seemed to have said her piece, Angelica snuck up behind the girl and before either of the other lion could say much in the warning for the girl Angelica was behind her, she kissed Catherine's hair gently. 'allo, ma belle.' she purred softly into Catherine's ear, gently wrapping an arm around her almost protectively as her beasts power brushed out of her and to Catherine in an effort to comfort the other lioness. Angelicas eyes were fixed on the man, though. She offered him what vaguely counted as a smile... but there was a certain protectiveness of the girl in front of her. 'What brings you to these parts?' She said finally, in a soft voice that was deceptively gentle, small. |

With a sigh, Shane allowed his gaze to wander around the empty area. He'd heard that previous Pride in Paris had been broken apart and there were parts of him that had hoped the rumors hadn't been true, but from the looks of things, it was completely true. It was hard to admit, but there was a part of the beast within him that rejoiced that no one was here. That left the area open fo the taking. A scent came to him suddenly, the breeze carrying it to his nostrils and Shane's gaze moved downwind where he spotted a female. His blue eyes narrowed, not dangerously, but in curiousity. The one thing that no one seemed to understand about him, was that he wasn't like other male lions. Where they tended to be territorial and extremely aggressive, while Shane on the other hand, was open to people on the land and would rather solve conflicts wth words over violence. Shaking his head slightly, he smiled. "No, I wasn't expecting to find anyone here. I recieved word of the Rex's leave back in London," he said gently, his eyes soft as he spoke. As he opened his mouth to say something else, the scent of another reached him and he wactched the blonde come up behind the brunette, his head tilting ever so slightly with intrigue. He could sense the protecive edge that she had for Catherine and it caused him to smile every so slightly. It was nice to see that the lionesses here stuck together even though the Pride had broken apart. "First off, I'm Shane," he stated, looking back to Catherine. "Second, I became aware of the Rex's disappearance sometime ago. After I heard that he hadn't returned an no one had taken his place, I figured I would come down here to check things out. Possibly become Rex in his place," he stated, adding the last part quietly. |

The scent of a familiar lioness was something that brought a whole-hearted smile to Catherine's face. She relaxed subconsciously, unaware that she had been so uneasy in the first place. The hug was very much welcomed, and though she jerked slightly at the words in surprise, her whole face lit up once she realized who it was. “Ange!” She squealed in delight, before turning slightly and hugging the lioness tightly. Though they hadn't seen each other since the Gerard disaster, Catherine couldn't deny that she had been worried about the lioness. Catherine had found Gerard to be a very creepy man, and it was beyond her how Ange could stand to live with him...and she couldn't help but wonder what Gerard had done to force Ange into such a predicament. “How have you been?” She questioned softly, though she didn't expect an answer from the lioness in their current situation. Instead, Catherine settled with simply cuddling up to the lioness in both the physical and metaphysical senses. Her eyes drifted back to the male, though Cath felt a lot better now that at least one other lioness was here. The male stated that he was from London, a place that Cath had very little knowledge of. Though knowing prides, she already suspected that he had been kicked out of his old one for being too 'dominant' or powerful...it was the way Rex's tended to run things. It was no surprise to her, however, that other prides had heard of Chris's so long ago departure. Paris once had a powerful pride, and now it had practically become non-existent. Truly it had only been a matter of time before some big-headed lion tried to get them all back together again. Catherine let out a visible sigh at the thought. “It is nice to meet you, Shane...but to put it quite bluntly, there is no pride to become a Rex of.” They were all used to their own freedoms, choosing where to go, what to do, without even a thought of one another for the most part. “Such an aspiration for one so young?” She questioned softly – the male looked not much older than her. |

Okay, so maybe she had no legitimate reason to be there... but to feel Catherine relax when they came into contact made it reason enough for Angelica. Angelica laughed softly when the little lioness squealed just before the girl tried her very hardest to break Angelicas ribs out of affection. 'Oui, ma belle chatton. Tis I.' she said softly, not ignoring the male as much as she seemed to be. She noticed him smile a little and she quirked an eyebrow at him that Catherine would miss. 'I have been well, chocolates and family and such, it's not a hard life. And you? Perhaps I should buy you lunch after this? We could go shopping, even. If you like.' The sun was out and Catherine had as little to worry about Gerard as she ever would - Angelica hoped this would sink into the girl and let them have some fun. Personally, she found many things more bothersome and scary than Gerard ever was... but she wasn't going to press the point that Catherine had not believed in the first place. Not when in front of a stranger, certainly. Resting her head against Cathy's, Ange watched the male.. this, Shane, with mild curiosity. 'Rex's are something of an overrated part of a pride, a lot of the time... they come.. they go. They die. It is the lionesses who endure.' nevermind the fact she failed to point out she belonged elsewhere. She was lion. Angelica had no plans on leaving the city any time soon, and therefore the lions were her problem - to an extent, at least. Especially if they didn't want a rex trying to herd them into shape... and if the desertion of this place was anything to g on, they didn't. Moments later the girl still nestled up against her confirmed the older cats suspicions. 'My name is Angelica.' she offered finally when Catherine had finished speaking. 'And it would seem you have brought yourself here too late, though it is quite an undertaking for one of your age, is it not? Being part of a pride is more than being the head of it... even for the menfolk.' He didn't look that much younger than her, a year or two perhaps... but Angelica didn't exactly look her age herself. Many years as a shapeshifter had slowed the process, just a little. Her beast was curling happily around Cathy's, nuzzling and purring and every happy, comforting thing it could think of to keep the girl at ease... There would be no need for the girl to feel distressed about Shane. She did not stand alone. Angelica offered him a hand finally, the warmth of her beast licked and bit along her skin.. a fraction of her real power - it was enough to show she was strong but it hid her true strength. |

Shane smiled slightly as he noticed the two females had similar thoughts. "I am wise beyond my years my ladies," he stated, looking between the two of them. Both of them held their own and both of them were beautiful in their own ways. He had a feeling that there were more lionesses around and he figured it would be best for him to make his intentions clear with these two before any others. "You misunderstand my intentions. I do not wish to be a Rex to order you all around or anything like that. I am not going to say that I don't like being in charge because that would be a lie. However, it is not my desire to strike fear in anyone's heart or anything of the sort," Shane said, attempting to figure out his word before he continued to speak. "My only desire here is to get everyone together once more. Try to sort things out. After all, lions are stronger together and it is my intention to get everyone here back together. I'm not planning on ordering any of you around. You will all still have the basic freedoms you have now. There will merely be meetings and such that I would expect you all to show up to and other things like that," he stated, trying his best to explain what he could. With that he reached out and took Angelica's hand in greeting. |

"Arrogance will only get you hurt...or killed." Catherine responded, knowing that fact all too well from the previous pride, or more precisely, Chris Rennick. His attitude surely had something to do with his untimely disappearance. Even to vampires, Chris had always held a 'better-than-thou' complex. It was easy enough to see that Shane was nothing like Chris, but part of the reason Chris had lasted so long was because of his attitude and the very little reservations he had about demonstrating his power and ability to the pride. A sign escaped Catherine's lips - if Shane truly believed that he did not need to strike fear or show his dominance against them at all, then he was truly naive. She was sure that, given the opportunity and the right (or rather wrong) experiences, he would realize that any sort of humane peace would not work in such a system. They all realized this in the end...and for whatever reason, Cath did not want to see this happen to Shane. He seemed too young...to innocent to go through such traumas. "You wish to be Rex, but by what means? You seem like a nice guy...but I do not have the confidence that you could possibly protect a pride from rogue lions, let alone the vampire council." She did not hide the bitterness in her voice - she wanted a pride so badly. Chris had failed largely in that department, outcasting her once he found out about Sage, and driving everyone else further apart. "I would not mind a pride, or even meetings once and again...It is not like we have not tried in the past. Everyone is simply too independent now..." She shook her head, letting her beast metaphysically purr against Ange's, mainly to ensure that the feeling of calm she had stayed there. Catherine had longed for a pride for a long, long time, and the idea both excited and depressed her. "From what you have said, Shane, you seem more suited to simply organize the meetings rather than be a Rex..." Edited by Catherine Beauvillier, Feb 25 2009, 04:54 PM.

It took a great deal of effort for Angelica not to snort or make a face when Shane said he was wise beyond his years. 'That may be so, dear... though I rather doubt it. In any case, I am, I'm sad to say, even older than you and your years. I'd wager this is true for both you and your beast... Not that age is the only issue at hand here.' She watched him with her terribly amused deep blue eyes, observing every little twitch. Every movement. Every breath. It wasn't a kind look, really. The sort of look the hunter had been giving prey since before the dawn of time. Self assured and not afraid to strike out if he did even the smallest thing she did not approve of. 'If you do not wish to wield a firm hand, then you are setting yourself up like a lamb to the slaughter house. You seem young, green. Why not run on back home and spend some time, some real time learning how to be a rex?' her lips turned softly into a smile but even that was unkind. Perhaps he had more of a spine than he was showing, but it would take miles more for her to believe he had even a faint chance of achieving half of what he had set out to do. She had hurt better alpha males than he, and though she was not in anyway available for the job she knew he would never gain a Regina, a proper Regina with his current attitude. She didn't think the pride needed a "rex" that clearly didn't know what he was doing. Such things never went well. The bitterness in Cathy's voice didn't escape her, and she hugged the girl a little tighter, wrapping the warmth of her beast further around her like a comforting, living blanket. It was a small thing for her to do, though it seemed to give Cathy something resembling comfort, if not the genuine article. Angelica sighed softly when Cathy mentioned the council. Even she, for all her recklessness knew they were not something to be trifled with. 'I do not believe he would survive them, ma belle.' Shane's proposition was only getting worse and she could only roll her eyes at what he said next. Angelica may have belonged to Gerard, but generally speaking she had much better "basic freedoms" than he could ever so generously "grant" her. She laughed softly. 'Now, little one, you are in far over your head.' true she was hiding the extent of her powers from him - but he should have known better. Lionesses had killed potential rex's for less, he was being far too presumptuous. 'Anyway, I think you will find that I am most definitely unavailable for joining the little tree house club. You could not and will not get people to show up by just expecting it.' Angelica missed being in a pride of lions, but if she was honest with herself... the Parisian lions fell far short of anything that would work as a true, harmonious pride if what she had seen was anything to go on. If what Catherine seemed too eager to point out was the truth, and she sensed no lie from her. With Shane's hand still in hers she pulled him closer, gripping his hand with an iron grip. In a low, quiet voice she spoke to him. 'To put it bluntly, mon chatton, you do not seem up to par. You do not satisfy me that you would do the lions of this city a favour in this very perilous time. I am not part of the equation, but if you do not impress even the one who has no personal stake in this little pride you're planning on resurrecting it is unlikely the others will think any better of you.' |

Shane listened to the words that Catherine said and shrugged his shoulders slightly. "That may be, but I have led many into and out of battles. I'm not going to say that they all came out alive, because they didn't, but we held strong. I'm not asking for your confidence in me for I do not need it. I know what I am capable of," he stated, a slight growl escaping his lips. He would keep his anger in check for the time being. When Angelica spoke, his gaze moved to hers. He could practically see the sneer that was invisible on her face. He heard it in her words. Shane's eyes narrowed and darkened, flashing to the color of his beast's. "You doubt is understandable. You have been left before and let down as well. You fear that the same things are going to happen all over again. But let me tell you this much, they aren't. I don't need your permission or your belief to become what I know I can," he stated. As he felt her grip his hand tightly, Shane didn't flinch, merely arched a brow. If he was human, the grip would have broken bones, that much he knew. He allowed his grip on her hand to tighten into a vice like hold and he moved into her face, a dangerous sneer on his own. "The lions in this city are better with some organization then being split apart. In this time no one can afford to be alone. Your words affect me little as you are of no immediate significance to my quest," he snarled, gripping her hand in a vice grip harder than even he was accustomed to doing. If she were human, chances were that it would have shattered her hand. |

The car had come to a gentle stop, barely enough to make her body slide against the leather backseat. Warm pools of amber drifted to the dreary little scene outside the comforts of her Mercedes. It was almost enough to convince her to have her private giggle, and make the driver continue on. Almost. "Drive through there. I want the car parked nearby." She would absently point, before she continued, "Don't worry about hitting anything, It's nothing that can't be replaced, I'm sure." The car, moved forward again, wheels crushing grass, leaving it's mark upon the natural world. Over small dips and bumps, the car navigated an easy path to the sad little affair, she was sure the common folk were calling a gathering. Of course hadn't specified where she wanted the car parked, and let the driver continue foward even when humunoid figures had popped up in the distance. When they became dangerous close enough to hit, the driver slammed on the breaks. She would need to find a new driver, one that understood the simple pleasures in life, and bodies rolling ontop of one's car(as long as their was no big damage to the car) was one of them. Not long after, the driver had opened the back door moments later, offering his white gloved hand down to her. Long fingers slithered over his hand, curling just enough for a loose grip, that would help her stand once she had exited the car. The truth of it all was, Nieve was feeling charitable. What better way to give to charity than to give them the gift of her very presence? It was brilliant, far better than donating money to the poor. Those sort of ventures ran the risk of catching poverty. She had heard it was contagious after all. "Do you know what I think I'll call today?" She asked, peeling off the soft leather gloves and tossing them at the driver's chest absently. When she turned her back around to the other three she smiled, "A say something hat day" Absently her hands rose to adjust the lion head now perched at a small angle on her head. Taxidermy was such an under appreciated artform. The latest addition to her wardrobe, stared lifelessly out of glass eyes with it's massive jaw open, in a frozen roar. It's golden mane, covered her own auburn hair, just brushing against her shoulders. "Oh, I know what you must be thinking, 'such a shame that lycanthropes can't be skinned for their fur' well, I couldn't agree more really but we must make do with what we have. Isn't that right pumpkins?" She walked around to the front of the car, only a few precious inches from the younger man. Eyes drifted from the car to him and she frowned, "A pity." Shrugging her shoulders, her attention was drawn to the blonde, immediatly noting the good figure before staring at her hand, that so happened to be holding his hand. If this was one of those sorts of gatherings, she was getting right back in the car. The last thing she wanted to do was hold some filthy hand, or even worse hug. Not to mention, he didn't even look old enough to shave, let alone be holding her hand. She was sure, even France had laws against, touching children. Oh, of course it wasn't really like that at all, this was no doubt one of those animal mind fucks. Where the dominants played slap and tickle with one another for awhile to see just who got to sit at the big kids table. Absently waving her hand, the driver unfolded a chair for her and spread a blanket down on the ground. Just like one might expect at the beach, lucky she had chosen the perfect outfit for beach spreads and tropical cocktails. Taking a seat in the chair(As if she would sit on the ground ) she waved them all closer while the driver began to place a few trays out of assorted finger foods. The driver returned from the trunk for his last trip, holding a head that seemed only recently to have been removed from it's neck. He'd held it top down, to keep the the contents from falling out. Handing it over to Nieve, she took it up in both hands, flicking the pretty umbrellas and pineapples used to garnish it. Painted lips clasped around the pink 'crazy' straw and she began to noisely suck until something red was finally pulled up into the platic tubes. It was then her eyes fell upon Catherine, what a sad little creature. Pulling the pink umbrella from her 'drink' she held it out for the woman to take. "So how was your days? Fulfilling I hope?" Following her question up with a fierce inhale on her straw as something thicker became stuck on it's way up. When it had been pulled all the way through the numerous pink loops, she could drink from it easily again. |
