It'd been.. a while, to say the least, since Anika had entered a bar. The moment she set foot in the establishment the very distinct smell of smoke and alcohol had pervaded her senses, though ignoring it wasn't entirely difficult. She'd almost been worried upon entering - that they might card her and think it to be a fake - but no such thing had happened. Apparently, she looked as old as she claimed. It was amusing though, considering right after she'd gotten in a couple of teenagers behind her had been sent away from the premises.. On another occasion she might've sympathized for them; but not tonight. The fact that Angelica had given her a place to stay, sad as it might've been to admit, was not enough to keep the fox content. She needed something more; something.. to entertain her, for lack of better ways to put it. And so, for the past several nights she'd been venturing out in search of somewhere to visit that might be amusing-- last night having stumbled across the Legless Frog. It seemed classy enough (she refused to get anywhere near some of those back alley places she'd seen), and if she wasn't mistaken, it was actually a shifter owned bar. Walking over to a seat, she'd ordered herself a light drink (she'd never been one to get drunk alone or on regular occasion) and looked around. It wasn't amazingly crowded.. but it wasn't too empty, either. Just her kind of place. A live band played somewhere behind her, and she spent several minutes simply listening to them play. The music was very melodic; the kind of thing that would often be played.. toward the beginning of some kind of performance. In her mind she imagined herself standing and swaying to the tune, before very suddenly it ended. Slightly disappointed, Anika reopened her eyes only to find that she'd already drunk all the liquid in her glass. A shame; she hadn't brought very much money. Best to wait a while before getting anything else, she decided. |

The past couple of weeks had been spent pub hopping, he wasn't scheduled for another performance this month due to a self imposed vacation. He'd taken a look at his past performances and noticed that he'd been on stage for every weekend for the past six months. The money garnered from those performances was astronomical, though enough of it went to his staff, rentals and a few other necessities. Whatever was left over after he bought a few things was often divided up between charities to cut down on taxes by the time they were due. Regardless of the circumstances he was here and riding a pleasant buzz that's been fueled by six hours of constant drinking which spanned sixteen days of constant bar hopping with minor breaks to sleep and eat. So far he's had the bartender threaten to cut off his drinks twice simply for the fact that no normal human should be able to consume the large amounts of alcohol he's slammed back, that was the problem with pubs and clubs that catered to a mostly preternatural crowd, they never appreciated the audacity that the standard human system could go through. Especially after four years of dedicated practice of meeting his friends at the local pub to get shit faced before going back to their dormitories to sleep for a couple hours before heading back to class to then simply repeat the cycle the next day. "No, sir. I'm seriously fine." He'd pause, blinking a bit until his vision cleared. "Just give me some Ginger ale and water. I'd like a double Jack as a chaser for those please." Asano chuckled softly, enjoying himself immensely as the weight of inner fears and turmoil seemed to slide away with each drink. Eventually he'd receive his orders, the Jack went first, followed by the Ginger Ale and then the water. "I love my vacation. . ." |

After several of minutes sitting without a drink, Anika suddenly decided that she was parched and couldn't be bothered waiting anymore. Since no waiters or waitresses looked like they'd be approaching her anytime soon, she got up and made her way over to the bar, not bothering to take a seat. "Excuse me?" She called over to the bartender, who refused to pay her any attention. Huffing slightly she busied herself by looking at a couple of the available drinks, spotting one in particular that she decided she wanted. Unfortunately, this particular drink was a little expensive.. and she was a dollar short. Sighing, she did a double check to see if she might've counted how much was in her pocket wrong, but was sorely disappointed. Just one dollar off.. looked like she'd have to just get something a bit cheaper. But nothing quite compared, and she'd never been one to merely settle with second best when she knew there was a way to go one better.. Looking to either of her sides, Anika decided to go with asking the person who looked a little bit less drunk. The other guy was busy sucking the face off what resembled a hooker - probably not a female one either, just judging by first glance. Turning to the other man, she offered a slight smile, in an attempt to possibly be charming. All she wanted was a dollar.. perhaps he'd be nice enough to just hand one over and leave her be? Random acts of kindness were greatly appreciated, these days. "I'd hate to bother you, sir, but you wouldn't happened to have a dollar that I could borrow, would you? I'm one short." Batting her long eyelashes, she hoped for a positive response. |

"Sure, why not." Asano smiled, returning her gesture as he extended his hand, snapping his fingers as a bill appeared in his fingers, eventually he placed ten Euros upon the counter. "Sorry, I don't carry ones. Feel free to keep the change or use it as tip . . ." Voice trailed as he muttered, "Even though the guy doesn't deserve it, slower then hell givin' me another refill." He honestly didn't mind spotting a rather attractive woman some cash for a drink, it wouldn't be the first time he's done it and in all likelihood he wouldn't stop any time soon as everyone deserved to ride the same buzz he was going through. In a way he a bit of a pragmatic idealist, a rather interesting ideal due to his given fanciful profession as a world renowned magician. "Hey bartender, I want another one." This time around he ordered a Jamaican Rum and Dr. Pepper, he'd tip the bartender before he left, even though he was being slower then molasses in the sixth frigid circle of Hell. Eventually he'd receive his drink and a moment of bliss passed through him as he took his first sip. "Thank God for small favors." A soft chuckle escaped him as he turned his attention back to the woman by his side. "Name's Asano by the way, figured I should at least introduce myself to the woman who I'm buyin' a drink." |

Ten Euros? It was a considerable amount more then she'd asked for.. Hesitating slightly, Anika quickly decided that it was best to merely accept the cash, rather then question the decision to hand it over. It could've been worse, after all - what if he only carried fifties? Smiling and uttering a small thank you, she handed the bartender the appropriate amount of cash (when he finally got around to paying attention to her), and waited for him to finish making her drink. She'd almost forgotten the man beside her while waiting, having been watching just exactly what the bartender was putting into her glass (out of curiosity more then anything), but it seemed leaving her alone after handing over the money wasn't going to be an option. Not that she had any right to complain, given the extra few dollars he'd also thrown in. It was only fair to speak to him a little after that. And besides, she had come here looking for excitement, after all. She wasn't going to turn down the opportunity of conversation just so she could watch her drink being made. "It's a pleasure Asano; thank you again for the generosity." Taking a sip of her newly arrived drink, she inhaled deeply, glad to see that the extra dollar had been well worth the trouble. "I'm Anika." |

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance Anika." Asano smiled, nodding once before returning his attention to the drink before him. Even in the hued light he could see the slight warmth that tinged his features in the mirrors behind the bar. Though while he had a subtle slightly trendy tan due to his ethnicity it was still apparent he was staggering over the edge of intoxication. He'd take another sip, sighing contently at the warmth that cascaded down his throat. "Though don't worry about it, I'm just glad to help. Just promise me that next time when someone needs some cash for a drink you do the right thing and help them out." He'd chuckle then, shrugging nonchalantly at nothing in particular. "Though if its some greasy ass pervert, you'd be best to just ignore the guy or move on." It was then that he sneezed, for anyone else that'd probably go unnoticed and those who were raised with some sense of manners would say 'bless you'. Though unfortunately for Asano whenever he sneezed something usually went up in flames as the noise itself was quite close to an incantation he learned a long time ago and incantations were like riding bicycles, you never could forget how to do it even if you tried. "Oh shit." He'd mutter as he reached out to pat the small flame which engulfed the napkin underneath his drink. Frantic drunken eyes would wash over him as witnesses merely shrugged it off as an every day ordeal. "Oh crap." The flame would spread to the next napkin, "Oh fuck." Instinctively he'd reach for his chaser and the remnants of soda and ice as he'd douse the flame, eventually killing it. "Bartender, I need another chaser. . . and sorry about the mess." |

A grin spread across her features as he mentioned helping out the next time somebody was low on cash for a drink; usually she'd try to avoid such incidents, considering most people that she encountered like that tended to be homeless, though just for the sake of Asano she'd make sure to loan them a couple of Euros next time they asked. Anika nodded, continuing to sip at the rather sizable glass the bartender had handed her. At first when he'd sneezed, she hadn't even bothered to look. Raised with a certain amount of politeness that'd by now been wired into her system, she of course replied to the action by saying 'bless you', but it was only when the profanity escaped him that she actually turned and spotted the fire. Jaw dropping, her automatic reaction was to jump up from her seated position, to try and get away from the fire. She seemed to be the only one in the bar who was really paying attention the fact that things were on fire. "Did.." She began, blinking rapidly. "Did you just set that napkin on fire?" Hesitantly, she took her seat once more, eying him somewhat suspiciously. "What are you, a dragon or something..?" She'd heard of witches that could control flame before - but to actually sneeze and set something alight? It sounded a bit unlikely, to say the very least. A thought suddenly popping into her mind, she wasn't quick enough in swallowing the words. "Or is it just that you're that hot, you set things on fire? Hah." |

Grey wisps of smoke mingled between his fingers as Asano squinted, vision blurred by the alcohol within his system and the smoldering ash that tickled his nose as he fought back the urge to release another sneeze. He cursed the day when he ingrained that incantation into his mind, at least for the sake of those around him he had no real allergies to speak of. "Oh God. . ." He'd take a deep breath, seconds away from immolating the bar in front of him when he caught his breath, covered his mouth and let urge to sneeze die down. A sigh escaped tanned lips as he nodded, lowering his hand to dab his lips. "I bet you weren't expecting that, huh?" Most people didn't expect a sneeze to set something on fire, unfortunately Asano had the innate ability to conjour flame through simple gestures, it was part of his act after all. A grin escaped him as Anika quipped about him being a Dragon. "Alas, I am not a Dragon." Asano had to admit it'd probably be pretty neat to be one, "As for being hot enough to set things on fire, I'd like to think so." A cheesy line required a cheesy remark after all, it was simply the rules. The bartender would return with a refill for Asano's spilled drinks, "Thank you." He'd say to the man who simply walked away, lips moving beneath the music that played and yet he was able to pick up a few choice words that showed that he wasn't amused with the mess Asano had created. |
