The day was fading ever so slowly the sun was dipping under the horizon giving sway to the sky to the fickle if forever watching Mistress of the Moon. He felt it like the oceans forever feel the subtle tug of the moon’s invisible hand soon it would be his time of the day. That meant that it would be time for rest to let go of his duty if but only for a single moment and to reconnect with the element that called the deepest to him, Water. Lir closed his eyes and let his feet move on their own accord. Each step pulled him towards what he felt in his spirit would be near the water always called to him like the subtle song of the Sirens of old. He was pulled away from his thoughts with the sound of water splashing around his boot. It jarred him so deeply that for a moment his glamour faltered when the first droplet of water touched him causing his long deep blue hair flash into sight for just a moment before returning back to its usual human shade. Lir leaned down to the water and held his right hand over the beginning of the lake. The water started to swirl slightly directly under his hand as he peered deeply into it. She was close, he could feel it. The Princess was near and his journey was almost over, there was almost a sigh of relief. He had sworn to protect her and that meant if she was hurt and he was not there then he would have been forsworn in that moment. Taking another slow breath he let go of his control of the water and it came to its usual peaceful rest. The night was just beginning; there was something in the air a lingering feeling of expectancy. Fate, perhaps, but Lir stopped believing in such too long ago. Without even realizing it his Hand of Storms called again to the water and if he were to look back there would have been a face looking back up at him, a face that he no longer wished to remember. |

Reyna wasn't too sure on what she wanted however she did know that she wanted to get out of the city for awhile. In fact, she felt like she needed it. Not only had it been awhile since she shifted but her mother was driving her nuts about her going out all the time. And it wasn't even all the time. It had only been a couple of times but somehow her mother found out about it and gave her an earful about it. This way, going where she was going, there should be no one around so no one to report to her mother. Of course, the swan meeting place was one place her mother didn't care if she went to. It was a natural place for her to go. Not to mention, her mother, Reyna knew secretly, was hoping that the Swan King would make his appearance there. She was getting tired of hearing about this elusive King. He was either going to make an appearance soon or not. She knew that when a Swan Queen was born, in the same generation a King was to be born but things change. Something could have happened that he wasn't. Then she would be free to choose her own Swan King. That was highly unlikely but she could dream, couldn't she? She never mentioned any of this to her mother obviously or she would never hear the end of it. According to her, there is a Swan King, he just hasn't arrived yet. So to get away from it all, especially the lectures, Reyna headed to the lake and arrived there in no time at all. Traffic was light to get out of the city as everyone was headed into it, to go out for the night or whatever their plans were. Pulling her small car, one argument at least she won for herself or so she thought, driving herself places instead of having a driver, into a small clearing, she got out and headed through the woods to the lake she knew all too well. She didn't worry about locking her car as really, there shouldn't be anyone around unless they were fellow swans. Even though it was a little chilly out, all she wore was gray sweats with a white tank and a matching gray hoodie. On her feet were her runners and her hair was tied back. She really wasn't worried about the chill as she would be shifting and her feathers would keep her warm. In human form, she wasn't going to be in for very long or so that was the plan. Because as soon as she hit the parting of the trees to reveal the lake reflecting the silver light of the moon, she found out that she wasn't alone. There was a man standing by the lake. All instincts told her he wasn't the Swan King nor was he even a swan and to flee. But damnit, he was on her land, even if unofficial at the moment and it was her right to be here, not his. So she pushed her instincts aside and approached him. As she did, she thought she saw him in her mind as looking completely different, in a different time and place but also similar. She just shook her head, clearing it. Apparently her mother was getting to her a lot more then what she thought. “Excuse me,” Reyna started in her soft melodic voice. “But you're trespassing on my land.” It looked like she might not get to shift and swim after all. |

A Queen’s Raven caught off guard. If there had been any other of his brothers in arms he would have never heard the end of it but at the same time they would understand. He had caught the whispers that some of his brothers spoke when they did not know he was around. They spoke of sorrow, of pain, of his old name all things that were behind him now. Or at least he wished were completely behind him. The moment the female spoke it completely jarred him once more from his reverie and the splash of the water that was held a moment longer echoed in the otherwise quiet air. Her voice was soothing almost like the ocean itself’s words coming to life but how could one female most likely mortal contain such a melody. “Oh.” He looked around a bit brushing his hair from his face and behind his ear. “I am sorry, I did not see any signs just the water it was so peaceful. I could not help myself but to look within its depths. If this is your land then you are truly blessed for it is an absolute stunning place. I am almost envious of it.” He gave her a smile rolling his right shoulder a bit. “I am also glad you decided to come and interrupt me when you did, the water was is so alluring that I wanted to take a refreshing swim but now that I know that it is spoken for.” There was a bit of a sheepish grin. “Well, what can I do to make up for my trespass of your wondrous lake?” |

“Oh,” the man said. He turned around to face her slightly while at the same time, brushing some of his shoulder length, light brown hair out of his face and tucking it behind his ear. “I am sorry, I did not see any signs just the water it was so peaceful. I could not help myself but to look within its depths. If this is your land then you are truly blessed for it is an absolute stunning place. I am almost envious of it.” He gave her a smile and rolled his shoulder. Reyna couldn't help but smile back. If nothing at all, she was taught to be polite and cordial to everyone she met. “Thank-you and there is no harm done I suppose. You must be new to the area as most know who this land belongs to.” Not that Paris was a small town, quite the contrary, but she could almost sense that he was new to the area. Call it a vibe. But now that she was talking to him, the instinct to flee had gone away. It was as if her swan wasn't scared of him now that she was closer. Her beast actually felt connected to him somehow which was a little weird for her. That's never happened before and she wondered why it was. As if there was some kind of pull to be there with him, like when she felt the pull to be in the water in her swan form. “I am also glad you decided to come and interrupt me when you did, the water was is so alluring that I wanted to take a refreshing swim but now that I know that it is spoken for...” He grinned slightly, as if embarrassed before he continued. “Well, what can I do to make up for my trespass of your wondrous lake?” “Well...” She thought for a moment, thinking of if she should do what she was thinking. “If I didn't show up, then you would have went swimming so maybe I'll just let you go ahead. As long as you don't make a habit of it, I don't see how wrong this one time only could be. As far as the trespassing part...I'll think of something.” She said with a slight grin. Wow, she was actually flirting again. This time doing a little better then she had with alcohol in her system. It was a good thing no one else was around. Not only would her mother be horrified to hear that her daughter had been flirting with a man, even if he was ruggedly handsome, that wasn't the swan King, never mind even a swan, but also because she was going to let a non-swan swim in the Swan lake. It was unheard of. But this should be one thing that her mother wouldn't know about, at least as far as she knew. And it wasn't as if Reyna was strong enough to stop him if he just decided to go ahead and do it anyway. She was in the middle of no where with no help nearby. She might as well be polite instead of rude. It was what her mother taught her after all. |

There was something very odd about this woman. Lir would swear an oath on it and have no fear of being forsworn. There was something about the air around her the energy that she gave off that made her otherworldly. While she was not fey he would be able to feel that immediately even if it was hidden this close to a source of water he would have known, no she was something more then human but he could not place it not yet. She spoke again and it was like a soft form of music instead of words. He had to shake his head to clear it so he could hear the words she was speaking. “You are right; I am not from around here. I just around the city not too long ago and well everything is still very new to me. So yeah…” He couldn’t help but smile and run his fingers through the majority of his hair in a bashful expression, “I don’t know what’s spoken for or not” He gave a slight chuckle as he tried to keep his hands out of his hair. He was a Queen’s Raven the envy of the sidhe world for prowess of swords and beauty and he was brought low by a simple maiden. “Oh you would not mind that? Thank you, you have been so kind to me and I do not even know your name.” He gave her another smile before bowing slightly, “It would please me greatly to learn the lady of this lakes name.” Lir waited in a lowered state until she gave him something before righting himself. “No, I promise to not make this a habit, but if you will excuse me I do not think my clothing would take well to being submerged into water.” He turned his back to her as he shrugged off his long coat and unbuckled the glamour tied weapon placing it near the ground, still within grasping range. Then came his shirt revealing what would best be described as chiseled marble of a Greek god. Pulling the shirt over his head and placing it on nearby tree before bending down to untie his boots. Though while he was down there the invisible weapon was pulled back on his back, he would never leave that blade away from him. He learned that lesson once and would never again. Turning back slightly so he could speak to the maiden once again, “When you think of something do please tell me. I will make sure I serve my penance with a smile on my face for the gift that you have given this night” |

“You are right, I am not from here. I just around the city not too long ago and well everything is still very new to me. So yeah...” He smiled at her as he ran his fingers through his hair. “I don't know what's spoken for or not.” He chuckled and dropped his hands from his hair. Reyna smiled at him trying to put him at ease. For some reason he seemed somewhat bashful which was an ironic reversal of roles for her. Usually she was the quiet, bashful one and now, she was the one that was trying to put someone else at ease. But she didn't mind it and it was nice to be the comforting one for a change. It's why she knew she could lead her wedge once she got more of one, not only was she diplomatic but she had the motherly instincts to protect them and do what was best for them. Regardless if the King shows up actually co-lead with her, it was ingrained in her to do. “Oh, you would not mind that? Thank you, you have been so kind to me and I do not even know your name” He smiled and then did something she didn't expect, he bowed to her. He didn't even know she was the Queen and he was bowing? That was certainly different. “It would please me greatly to learn this lady of the lakes name.” She had a feeling that if she didn't say anything, he would stay in that position until she did. She didn't want that so she quickly spoke up. “Reyna...Reyna Marali. It's nice to meet you...?” She added, subtly asking for his name. “No, I promise to not make this a habit, but if you excuse me I do not think my clothing would take well to being submerged into water.” And with her mind distracted by what he said, about not making it a habit, she didn't realize that he started to take off his clothes. Because his word choice had her thinking that he was going to come back and continue to swim in her lake. Where she wouldn't mind, seeing the man shirtless with his sculpted chest, it was still wrong. She truly wished that he was her Swan King, seeing the way he looked but she wasn't that shallow. She didn't know him although she felt like she did for some reason. After taking his boots off, he put something back on his back but being the distance she was, she didn't see what it was. He turned his head over his shoulder to talk to her. “When you think of something do please tell me. I will make sure I serve my penance with a smile on my face for the gift that you have given this night” “Well I'm not giving you much, just letting you swim. And it also won't be anything too serious that I ask for in return really. I was basically only teasing about that to be honest” Reyna just stood there, not sure what to do. She wanted to shift and swim but at the same time, she couldn't go and shift in front of a stranger, never mind one who wasn't even a shifter by the smell of it. She supposed she could swim with him but could she do it naked as it appeared he was going to do? Granted he still had his pants on so its not guaranteed that he was going to go in completely naked. She took off her own shoes, just slipping them off without untying them and took off her hoodie. She slowly moved closer to the edge of the water, but not too close to way he stood, keeping some distance still between them. |

There was something about this lady of the lake that had caused him to become almost flirtatious again. Something off about her that he could not place there was nothing of magic in the air between them he would have felt it. Well, he hoped that he could feel something toying with his emotions but if she was projecting something and it was able to bypass his perception then it did not matter because he was all ready outmatched. The former ocean lord did not think it was magic none the less, there was an almost purity and familiarity that hung into the air between the two of them. When she finally spoke her name he righted himself his back straight like it had been before. Lir repeated the name of the lady in his mind several times forever burning it there. “Lir, you can call me Lir.” He gave a slight smile. Had it truly been this long sense had had even interacted with anyone let alone an attractive woman? It did not matter really he would most likely never see her again after this night and that thought alone caused his heart to speed up for a split second. What made this woman so different that for once in the many lifetimes that he led would he ever think of breaking his vow in memory of his long and forgotten by all but him, wife. Something peculiar was going on and the sidhe could not place a finger on it. Without a second thought he removed the last layer of clothing until he was standing naked before the woman. To the fey, the body is beautiful and supposed to be admired and more importantly Lir did not want anything between him and the feel of the crisp water against his skin. With almost inhuman grace Lir slid into the water like he was born to it. When he finally decided to come up for air and after making sure the secondary membrane on his eyes had receded to protect them from the water he looked at Reyna, “Are you sure? I do not wish to offend or be a bother for the sharing of this beautiful lake. I appreciate the gift of its use none the less” He gave her another smile as he let himself seemingly float with very little effort in the deepest parts of the lake. |

“Lir, you can call me Lir.” He told her his name in response to her subtle question, a small smile crossing over his features. Reyna couldn't help that Lir was such a strange name for this day and age. That it would seem more in place a couple thousand of years ago at least. She didn't know why she thought of it that way, but she did. But also she couldn't help but think that it suited him. That he would be much more in place a couple thousand years ago. It was a weird thought for her to have however there was just something about him that made her have these strange thoughts and she was getting curious on what it was. It was a puzzle she was going to have to figure out. She loved puzzles and she suspected that this one was going to be quite interesting. As suddenly as she stepped closer to the lake, letting the subtle ripples lap at her toes as they caressed the shoreline, with no thought of what he was doing, Lir stripped down to nothing, only keeping whatever he strapped back to his back, on. Which covered absolutely nothing. She turned away quickly, blushing furiously. Nudity was no stranger to her, being that she had to strip herself to shift but he was someone she just met and a very good looking someone at that. Apparently he thought nothing of getting naked in front of people as well as he stood comfortably with it. When she peeked out of the corner of her eye, she saw him slip into the water, going under. She let out a breath that she didn't realize she had been holding and everything in her body ached to join him in the water, wanting to feel it against her skin as well. She was just afraid that if she fully submerged herself in the water, her swan would want her to shift. However, ever since she met him, her swan has been quite quiet, even being this close to the water. It was if he had a calming effect on the bird and that was even more strange then anything else. She saw his head bob up, with his back to her and he slowly turned around. Before he did, she swore she thought she saw something blue swirl around him, like hair, but that was just impossible. She knew every part of this lake and nothing like that would be in it and she doubted that it would be him. He had honey brown hair, not blue. “Are you sure? I do not wish to offend or be a bother for the sharing of this beautiful lake. I appreciate the gift of its use none the less.” He gave her another smile as he floated in the middle of the lake. “Well honestly, I just wouldn't know what to ask you to do for me in return. I'm sort of not use to thinking of ways to have people pay me back for a gift, as you put it. So maybe just take it as such, a gift. But if it makes you feel any better, if I ever need a favor, I'll ask you first.” She said with a small smile of her own. She stared at the water and then down at her toes as she teased herself with the feel of the water. She wriggled her digits, feeling the sand on them as well. And then the thought came to her, what harm could come out of this? It wasn't like her mother would ever find out and the guy was insisting on paying her back for letting him swim. If he wanted to attack her, wouldn't he have done so by now? Of course, he could be waiting until she had her clothes off before he made his move. It could be a weapon of some sorts hanging on his back, still not having a clear view of it. She could be innocently swimming while he planned some sort of attack. Then again, she supposed if anything happened then it was what fate wanted. With her mind made up, she walked back to where she took her shoes and hoodie off, slipping off her pants and her tank top. She hadn't worn anything underneath, thinking she was going to shift and it would have just been faster. She might not be shifting but she could still swim and relax. Now naked, she walked back to the edge of the lake and like she saw him do earlier, slipped in with a graceful stride and slowly went under, gliding through the depths she knew so well. It was awhile before she needed to come up for air, due to being a swan they could keep their head underwater for a time to catch small fish. This carried over to her human self, being able to hold her breath longer then what a normal human could have. But finally Reyna bobbed up to the surface and slicking her hair back from her face, gave Lir a smile, happy to be in the water herself. |

Lir could not help but notice how quickly the woman turned away from him when he was removing the last bit of his clothing. He even thought that there was the subtle hint of red on her face which would mean that she was blushing. It was an odd reaction then he remembered why that it would cause such a reaction. While the fey thought nothing of nudity but another form of beauty the other world did not keep such views. If he had decided to spend more time amongst the humans while he searched for the princess he would have remembered such a fact but ten years with every little conversation does take a toll on any person. The damage had been done and since she did not scream or do anything other than blush he imagined he was in the clear. Though that did not stop her from turning at the last moment to catch another glimpse of him even if the Storm Lord did not consciously notice it. Once he was completely submerged into the water did his muscles relax. Years of tension and horrid memories seemed to flow away from him as he moved within the silky depths of the water. This was who he was, what he was born of and the water would always be his first love. It was hard to not become lost within the lake to forever stay within its peaceful depths to forget about the past and the future and just be at one with it. It was always a temptation for the Sidhe and he would not give into it. No when the urge washed over him he reminded himself his word of honor, of the people that he had failed and the oaths that he took for them. There was always that fleeting moment of freedom and it had been the only thing that had kept him from fading so long ago. When their eyes met again and she spoke he could only smile. “It does make me feel much better to know that I could repay the favor until then though I will have to see about what to give the women that has everything as a gift.” When he spoke of everything he let his hands move around the expanse of the lake showing that he meant this as what would be the ultimate thing to have. “I am sure I can come up with something there is all ready a few idea’s floating about.” He gave her another smile. The only thing that he could think of to give was the small sea shell that he had picked up along the coast of Africa. The colors of it were such that it would make a wonderful pendant and that was most likely what he was going to make for her. When she did strip down he did not look away as that would have been an insult to the beauty that was contained within the woman he was sharing a midnight swim with. For some reason the thought of insulting her went against every fiber of his being more so then if he had just met her. It was an odd feeling that originated in the depths of who he was, it would be something that would need to be investigated later when he had more time to think of it. When she dove in he could not help but admire her form and when she stayed under water longer than any normal human could he knew that she was something special, even if he could not put his finger on it. “There are few things more relaxing and freeing then that first dive into the water. It is almost magical I find. A time when nothing else exists or matters but the first touch of the water across skin.” |
