Finally the small dinner rush had broken and she had a little moment to sneak her dinner in before the evening drinking rush started. The bartender had promised to watch the two tables she had left as she snuck out to eat her left overs. She walked out the back door and moved towards the makeshift little seating area the kitchen staff had set up. Milk crates and boxes set against the wall. Joss set out her bag of food. Fried chicken she had made from scratch for Matt the night before. With some coleslaw on the side. She set out her little feast for one on one of the crates. Smiling to herself as she thought about how pleased she had been to fix the meal for Matt. She liked doing lots of things for Matt lately. But she was still waiting for him to make some sort of move. She couldn't do that too. She was too busy fussing over him and cooking for him. Trying to find excuses to snuggle with him again. She laughed at herself opening her containers and begginning with a couple bites of coleslaw. |

Humans were creatures of habbit. Once they get a routine started, they find it difficult to break it. Some moreso than others. Some lived their lives in absolute order with every minute planned. Others were an organized mess. But when it came down, they all followed basic routine. It made them easy to follow and observe when one knew exactly where another would be at any specific part of the day. It's how Anton had known where to find the small yellow haired woman that worked at The Legless Frog. Come 20:00 hours, she'd walk out into the breezy winter evening and have her dinner break for about half an hour and then return to her work. During the small number of slightly warmer Autumn days, Anton would simply, unbeknownst to her, arrive about a minute before her break, welcome her back to work, wish her a lovely evening and observe her as she enjoyed her half an hour in the fresh air. In the colder days when the days were shorter and nights were longer, he arrived sooner and sometimes watched her work and prepare for the night from the shadowy, dark club and then follow her outside and then watch her during her break. It had become a routine for him much like it was for her. The reasons for this were unknown aside from an impulse at the first moment he saw her that continued on to become a series of semi long term observation rituals. He remembered when he first saw her when she'd just arrived in town. That look on her face sparked recognition in his mind and he just couldn't bring himself to leave her alone after that. There was something about her that drew her to him. At first he had no idea why, but over time, memories flooded back to him of a young woman just like the werewolf female with her physical stature and that same length and color hair. But the female from his memories, a much loved companion, child and mistress was from a time long before the wolf female was born. And that bothered him. It was as if it was her... but at the same time he knew in his right mind that it wasn't. But he wished that with some strange magics it was. But strange magics were harder to come by than logics. As a result, he didn't bother finding out which it was. Instead, he lived in the frozen timeframe of the not-knowing and simply watched his nameless yellow haired wolf girl from a shadowed balcony above the Legless Frog. Since it was cold winter, he watched the female from a distance inside the strangely named bar. He still didn't know her name or who she was. When she spoke to the other employees, he blocked out their voices so he'd have no clue about her identity. He only listened to her when she sang. She was so shy on stage but her voice demanded the spotlight. Because of this, he loved her performances and hadn't missed a single one since she'd started her work in the bar. When she was scheduled to go on her dinner break, she went through the back entrance and he exited through a side one so they might not run into each other. He left a couple of minutes before she did so that he'd see her as she emerged through the big metal door. That night, there was a human watching his exit point so it took him longer than usual to get outside. He entered the alley just in time, however instead of seeing her emerge from her exit from his balcony he watched her from the entrance to the alleyway. She seemed completely oblivious to his presence. Looking up revealed that there was some activity going on inside the apartment that his balcony belonged to. A bright blue flickering light shone from the window overlooking it. This wasn't good news for Anton as that balcony was the only one in complete shadows. If he stood at any other one, he either couldn't see her or he'd be in plain sight to her. He wasn't sure if he was quite ready for a confrontation. As if on cue, a group of people walked by the alleyway. Forced to keep the attention away from himself, he moved in closer, landing on a large wooden crate near the door. It was relatively shadowed. If he kept attention away from himself, the woman may not notice him. However, due to the lack of control over circumstances, he forgot himself for a second and landed on the crate with a soft 'thud' and thus possibly alerting the young woman of his presence. Internally, he cursed himself for messing up as badly as he did. Punishment had to come later. In the meanwhile, he fixed his dark eyes on the woman in hopes of seeing any sign from her as to if she'd actually noticed him or if he was still safe around her.... |

Joss was happily picking away at her food when she glanced up breifly to notice a group of people passing by the alleyway's entrance. It wasn't an unusual occurrence and Joss would have easily dismissed it and gone back to her dinner if it wasn't for the lanky darkly clad pale faced... person suddenly appearing out of thin air and trying to hide in the shadows against the wall. Once noticed she couldn't unnotice him. She could just assume he was some drunk who stumbled away from his group. But he had appeared out of nearly thin air. She jumped up as he seemed to stand there. Dark eyes staring at her from within a painted white face. Painted white face?!?! She dropped looked down to see the chicken drumstick clenched in her hand like it was a weapon and she quickly dropped it back into her container set on the makeshift table. She didn't have the best track record when it came to dealing with people in back alleys. The door back inside however was between her and the stranger and going towards it would put her closer to him. Backing up would only put her against a brick wall. "Uhh... Hi? Are you a lost... I'm sure there's a cop out there somewhere who could help." Joss spoke quickly, trying to calm her racing heart. No need to be jumpy over every stupid little thing. If he had walked into the bar she would have treated him like any other customer. There was no need to be nervous cause he had stumbled into the alleyway. Right? |

It seemed his mistake was a fatal one as the young woman actually noticed him. At first, she seemed to have tried to ignore him, but that didn't last too long. Her eyes darted to and from his direction until she finally decided that he looked like something she couldn't just take no notice of. Their eyes met for a brief second. Picking up the contact quickly, he averted his gaze from hers so that he mightn't mind roll her. She just stared for a while until she decided he was a threat of some sort, judging by the way she held her cooked bird leg. She was in some sort of defensive fighting stance for a while before realising that she couldn't do much damage with the bird and placing it in the little container with the rest of the food. She was a curious being, in Anton's opinion. She seemed to not quite know what to do with herself around him and in part, that amused him about her. He thought about just disappearing in the direction he came from or any other random one, but by this point it was almost too late. She was speaking to him. He had to answer... didn't he? It wouldn't be right for him to just go away when she asked him a question. "No. I know precisely where I am." He then pondered for a moment about the next part of the question. He wasn't exactly familiar with 21st century jargon seeming how he'd lived underground for the past three centuries. "I'm... not in need of any assistance..." Internally he hoped that answer worked for the posed question. He figured it wouldn't be a good idea right about then to reveal his ignorance about the world she lived in. After about a moment, he observed her composure before posing his own question. "Do I frighten you miss?" |

He was right in thinking that she just in't know what to do with herself. She was warring with herself between her instinct to run. Somehow sensing he was a predator, even though no scent wafted towards her to confirm or deny it. Warring with her compassion an want to help anyone in need. She didn't think she was prejuiced so she hated herself for feeling fearful by his looks alone. But then again the look was one meant to intimidate. She gulped as he admitted to knowing where he was and not requiring any help. She took a step back, her eyes glancing towards the door that was between them. No need to glance back at the wall behind her. She knew she was trapped. And then he questioned it. "Uh... No offense meant. I just haven't had the best luck with meeting people in dark alley's lately. Plus your making me feel a little trapped." Joss admitted outloud. Maybe if she put it right out on the table how he was making her feel he' back off. That was the hope at least. If he really was trying to come at er she had probably just fed into his ego, making him happy to get the fear out of his prey. She really sucked at sticking up for herself. She was starting to think taking a job was the worst decision ever. Though she could help to keep the Safe House supplied and buy presents for those she cared about it seemed getting a job had also put a marker on her head as a mark. |

She didn't seem to react well to his answers to his questions. At that time he really had no intention of frightening her. As a matter of fact, he would have happily watched her from afar still if it weren't for foolish humans foiling his plans. But since they did, he had to deal with it. He considered opening himself up to some sort of fellowship or alliance with the young blond woman, instead of being her silent observer. But then he realised that if he did learn more about her, who she was and what she did that it would completely ruin his illusion of her. As far as he knew, she was the closest match he'd seen to the young female from his past. And living in blissful ignorance was an enticing thought.. He didn't need more complicated thoughts to be added to the mess in his mind. At that present moment, he didn't know who she really was or what her name was for that matter. Every time he watched her, that was all he did. Never listen... He'd block out all the sound around him and only focus on the image and the illusion. That was all he needed to keep him on earth and out of the chaos that had formed in his mind since the waves of memories came crashing back to him that fateful day. "It is not my intention to trap you miss." He then slowly and gracefully stood up on top of his crate and then leapt off it. They now both stood on level ground and it was only then that he realised he towered over her. This would undoubtedly cause her further discomfort so he lowered himself down on one knee in a symbol of submission to the woman. "I beg your forgiveness madam. I mean you no discomfort." |

Joss stared at the gothic appearing man as he spoke not like that of the disenchanted, or evil person he appeared to be but with manners and a gentile nature. Still he could be lying she reminded herself. Or putting on an act. She had to remember to not trust everyone or everything they said to her. She had to remember that people could play on her gullabilty and submissive nature. She was learning slowly but surely. She forced herself not to move as he stepped from the crate he was perched upon and moved closer to her. She was shaking a little nervously and part of her simply wanted to try and bolt. Just run past him out of the alley. But then the other part of her. The compassionate part. The part that couldn't just walk away from people. That part made her stay. And it was that part that felt rewarded as he moved to lower himself down on one knee. But it was the majority of Joss's being that felt unease as someone put themselves in a submissive position to her. Hurredly she moved across the space still between them to go down on her knees before him. "Ok... well if you mean no discomfort this is extremely so. Please get up." She said. Her instinct had taken over moving to put herself as equal to him once more. No one could be submissive to her. It was just a ridiculous idea. So close she took in another deep breath. Try to discern just what he was. If he was wolf it was utterly ridiculous for him to be kneeling there. But still, so close, she got nothing. She shook her head looking upon him in utter confusion. Her mouth agape staring at him. It was here that her brain didn't filter itself. The words just fell from her mouth. "What are you?" Not who are you? What are you doing here? Or What do you want with me? No a what are you? For the first time Joss's nose had failed her. |
