It was easy to tell the fey that had been too long in the presence of human’s except for some of the oldest ones. Their habits were easy to pick up all ready Lir could feel some of them pressing in on him but he had spent too many years amongst his people to let the simple habits break so easily. There was a brief flicker of realization across of Arden and some of his inner pain must have shown on his face for her to react so. None the less, as was proper, they both ignored it unless Lir decided to bring it up and speak of it. “Tis a shame that many of my gender have forgotten or have chosen to forget the basics of how to treat a lady properly. It is a sad state of affairs but I will endeavor to bring the near dead art of chivalry and gentleman conduct back into this realm of the living and become breathing once. You will notice, Arden, that some of the repeat offenders have been treating all of the ladies there with higher amounts of respect, it is making a comeback after all.” When she gave a slight chuckle he just smiled a bit with a shrug, “So it would seem, experience is the best teacher after all. It is not just a name, it’s a Name.” the emphasis of the capital was apparent in his voice, “Yes the Name of the boat and the spirit of it, so to speak, come out the more you work with it and commune with material. If thought is power, and power is magic the more you think and put into the effort of the building the stronger the boat’s spirit becomes and the more it can assert its name in subtle whispers. By the time I am finished I should have a name for her maiden voyage.” He let his gaze slip over the boat, “that will be in some time though at the rate I am going.” He gave a very slight chuckle. “If you are interested in learning I can show you how to shape it, the majority of building a boat is the manual labor you have to put into it.” |
