The call from Adrian had been unexpected, to say the least. Evelyn had no idea how he'd even gotten her new number; since finding out about his.. peculiar, past, she'd changed it at least twice. The knowledge that he was resourceful enough (not that she'd honestly believed he wasn't - but the hope had still been there) to obtain that much recent information on her had put the swan on edge more then she already had been, the past several days. Her brother was currently the captive of the vampire, being used as blackmail for her to comply with whatever he wanted from her. Of course there was still room for protest, but given what was at risk, that wasn't saying very much. She'd been avoiding the vampire hideout - she still had no idea what the building was called, if it even had a name - as much as possible as of late, only coming by to give food to servants, for them to feed Daniel. Although she had no way of knowing whether or not the food was actually reaching him, she was holding fast to her hopes; she was even looking for a job around the city to make sure she could continue to provide for the both of them. Naturally when her brother's captor had decided to call her to his home, she'd complied only on the grounds that the meeting might've had something to do with Danny. It comforted her to think she had some kind of a choice in the matter; considering the leverage he had Adrian was being quite lenient with how much freedom he was giving her. Though she thought his actions in general were quite despicable, he could have just told her to sit in a corner somewhere and shut up, and what could she have done about it? All he needed to do was pull out Danny from whatever dark room he was being kept in, make a few threats, and slowly enough she'd drift back into submissiveness. At least, to a certain extent - until she thought up some kind of stupid plan that would of course fail, and only get her into more trouble. Not that she wouldn't keep trying. Arriving at the vampire-building, she began her way to where Adrian had instructed her were his quarters. Living area for his servants, whatever, she hadn't exactly been paying attention - having been too shocked at the fact that he'd actually found her number for that. There was a peculiar smell in the air that she couldn't quite determine the origin of, but the further into the building she ventured the stronger the scent became. It was only when she spotted the first red droplets of blood that she realised exactly what she'd been smelling (and why she hadn't known it was blood). Vampire blood smelled slightly different to most others', there was just something about it that made it more difficult to distinguish. Breath caught in her throat, she continued to walk forward - being amazingly careful not to step in the thin trail of red goo. It began to grow thicker and thicker as she progressed down the hall, though still remained relatively small enough for her to avoid. It was only once the source of the blood came into sight that her shoe eventually landed in the liquid, the swan momentarily forgetting her footing. There was something chained to the door; but she couldn't yet make out what. It was covered in the blood, and although she felt the urge to vomit at the.. thing's, discovery, she forced herself to continue on. If she didn't show up, Adrian would surely want to punish her in one way or another.. but did she really want to get close enough to see what was blocking the way? Head tilted to one side, her curious nature made her want to examine the thing further, but something stopped her mid stride. It twitched. At first the realisation refused to click in Evelyn's mind; that not only was this thing some kind of animal (nevermind the possibility of it being a person just yet), but if it was moving, then it was still alive. She turned her head away-- the stench was overwhelming, and even her beast wanted to simply turn and fly in the opposite direction of the scene. Simply glide gracefully above the blood, without staining it's feathers.. the creature moved again, this time the movement accompanied by sound. Something between a moan and a pained scream; it was a wonder that it had any vocal chords left in tact to make sound at all, let alone the energy. At first her jaw hung open, the realisation slowly sinking in that this was the vampire that all the blood had come from.. and then, there was nothing. Her head hit the ground with a dull 'thud', staining her pale features red as she lay unconsciously. Evelyn, in the midst of her shock, had fainted. Edited by Evelyn Ford, Mar 20 2009, 11:08 PM.
