The sharp rise and fall of power that came from Mary made Carina realize that perhaps, the man before them was a threat. When Mary reached for her hand, Carina clutched it without a second thought, her eyes now narrowing to the man sitting opposite them. It didn't take much to figure out that there was something awry, Mary's reaction alone was warning enough. Even though they had not spoken much about things, Carina could recognize her own sisters reactions. She was greatful to have Mary there, and she was relieved that Mary seemed to know things about their powers, and the world around them. Unlike Mary, Carina only had the very, very basics underhand, though she knew that if she was feeling angry, sad, or anything heavily emotionally, she could do a lot more than she could normally. She hadn't brought up that topic with Mary yet, but something about this situation had reminded her to do so...but not at that moment in time. Carina felt her own aura flow over the undead creature, trying to figure out what the heck he was. If she had had better control, she might have been able to do it far more subtly, however as it were, her thoughts betrayed her and her powers reacted as such. She found him rather alluring, despite the warning bells that were going off in her head. The undead creature looked more alive than the dead she had raised before...and more curious, he seemed to retain a soul within him, quite contrary to what her sister had told her moments before. There were thousands of questions running through her head, but she wasn't entirely sure that she should voice them out loud. “Demon summoning?” Carina questioned the gentlemen, thinking of the zombies that she had raised. Though she had never thought of them as demons as such...she knew that the things she raised were certainly dead. And from what she had been told of demons, they were frightening creatures who committed only sins, murder being the top one. The thought was frightening to her, and it was beyond her why anyone would want to attempt rising one...though she could not deny that the creatures she had raised could kill if she commanded them to. And she had, in the past, but it was not something that needed to be said. Carina knew the man before her was not a demon, he felt too...dead, and the dead calmed her. She was almost certain that demons would not have the same effect...would they? Once again, she found herself wishing that she knew more. However, she knew that the man before them was a threat of some sort...and the fact that he researched arts that she too had been studying was not a good sign. Most of the books she had gotton were 'evil' in her mind, and many of them depicted things she wished she had not seen. Was this man truly interested in such materials? Carina did not want to know. “How is it that you retain a soul?” She queried the man quietly, linking arms with Mary tightly. If anything were to go wrong, she wanted Mary closeby. This way, she could be sure that nothing bad would happen to her. Also, she had found that keeping Mary close was a comfort. When they had been separated briefly, she had not felt as...energetic somehow. It was odd, but Carina had never taken much heed of it. |
