Nathan’s head tilted to the left slightly, his brow furrowing. They didn’t think this was fun? Arcane studies in general were fun, especially when you could implement the things you learned. Though then his smirk left him, his face turning neutral, blank of all expression. He knew some people did not enjoy their magical aptitude; they thought it more a curse than a gift. Others had no knack for the various forms of mysticism that magic could encompass, and trying to accomplish what was simply beyond their scope made the task of learning about it an unenjoyable task that they could never truly accomplish. But he knew that this one had potential, the dark shroud over her aura signifying that she had the potential. The confusion she had, however, marked her as inexperienced in her natural born talents. He could almost tell that she didn’t know exactly what he was, just that her power called to him in some small way. He was not of the living, and her power spoke only to the dead. He wasn’t truly classified in either regards, he still maintained his soul, at least he liked to think so, otherwise certain aspects of his magical talents were true mysteries, and unexplainable. His crimson gaze shifted slightly then, something tugging at his extrasensory perceptions causing him to look at the other girl. It was too fast to register any shock in his eyes, the tiny spark of the other one’s power leeching from her aura like a dark lance to jab at his own aura quickly. The chill that ran down his spine like a tiny rivulet of ice water had a two-fold reason. The first was the jab itself, pushing against his aura, but not attempting to pierce. The second was that the other woman was also apparently a necromancer…and she had much more control than the other, much more experience. ’Two necromancers….’ Shock wavered his control; the crimson bleeding out of his eyes to leave vivid grey eyes in their place, the world suddenly losing the depth of understanding he could pull from it as it returned to normal. Had he not already been pale, he would have gone so now. It wasn’t that he was scared…it was more that he was surprised at the sudden emergence, the apparent depth of the other girls powers. Just who were these two young women? Suddenly Carina’s words broke through his thoughts, her comment about his reading material making the vampire turn to look at the books for a moment, lost for words. “Umm…yeah, I suppose you could say that.” Straightening in the chair, the vampire returned to looking at both women, a new respect for the pair almost evident in his eyes. With the subject on the reading material, Nathan could talk about this while concentrating his thoughts on just what action, if any, he should take about the two young necromancers that had found their way into what some would consider the heart of the undead community. “Well, some might think so at least. It all depends on what you consider interesting. I personally find every aspect of the Arcanum interesting. Anything from simple divination to demon summoning, and even your chosen material.” |
