Daily Life on the Island

Despite being a secretive and likely a highly illegal scientific facility, the Aries Island Complex is a surprisingly calm and laid back location. The Pokemorphs of the island have generally be treated well, and while there's the occasional troublemaker who has to be detained and punished, forgiveness comes easily.

Pokemorphs generally live out their lives without much worry. Most basic needs are met by the Complex, and work, while encouraged as a way to improve life for everyone on the island, is not a mandatory thing. However, being creatures at least at one time bred for battle, they are expected to maintain themselves properly and keep themselves in shape. Complete laziness is something that is frowned upon.

Humans on the island don't get this free pass, however, and all humans on the island work. While the majority of them tend to work in the closed off offices of the Apollo Building, there are those who work among the Pokemorphs as security officers, scientists, nurses, and so forth. While they aren't allowed the leave the island, they still receive their pay, along with lodging and food. If they ever wish to leave the island, it is a relatively simple procedure... although no one is quite sure how the secret of the Complex is kept so well.

Job Info

There are many different careers on the island. Here are details of some of these jobs.

Security Guards

Some might say the role of a Security Guard is one of the most important on the island. Filled by human and Pokemorph alike, they patrol the main areas of the island, keeping watch for anomalies, incidents, and things that may threaten the safety of the Complex. Not only are they the guards of the island, but they are also the first line of defense if there were to be a serious threat to the island, and in times of disaster they are trained to quickly and efficiently move island residents to a safe location and proceed to contain the threat.

Pokemorph guards usually work alone or in a team with a human or another Pokemorph. Human security guards will either have a Pokemon partner or work with a Pokemorph. They work in 4 hour shifts, of which there are 6 total. Typically there are more guards during the day shift, while the night shift has fewer members, with many of them being nocturnal Pokemorph pairs.

Scientists

The scientists of the Aries Island Complex are the main employees of the island, are are quite important. Along with helping develop and test the various products Rocket Laboratories eventually deploys to the mainland, they are also responsible for the "birth" and maintenance of the Pokemorphs.

Scientists are almost always humans who have found their way to the Complex by showing promise and appearing useful in fields that will assist in the Pokemorph project. There are also those brought to the island because of appearing to be troublemakers... but these are rare.

Scientists are screened and regularly watched and tested for any signs of abuse towards Pokemorphs. This is to prevent instances of scientists abusing what they may have created, or from attempting to create something that could go beyond their control. Like all systems, there are those who slip through the cracks, but the numbers of unstable or dangerous Pokemorphs has dropped since these measures were put into place.

Infirmary Staff

An under appreciated, but still important part of the employment of the Complex are those who work in the island Infirmary. Consisting of both human and Pokemorph alike, it is up to these staff members to help keep the many residents of the island healthy. They deal with all varieties of maladies, such as injuries acquired in fights, illness, and at times provide counseling. They also provide drugs and medicines to island residents, and have the fairly important job of watching for signs of substance abuse among the Pokemorphs.
While the Infirmary will deal with a majority of issues, there are some they cannot cure. Issues dealing with the very structure of Pokemorphs are redirected to the Laboratories, where they are better equipped to help them.

Maintenance Staff

The maintenance staff of the island are numerous and all important in their own ways. They include janitors, gardeners, repairmen, cooks... they fill all sorts of roles, and these roles are filled by all sorts of people. Quite a few tend to be taken by Pokemorphs who would like a small amount of money, but don't want to work too much.

Pokemon Ownership

While there are many Pokemon on Aries Island, very few of them are 'tamed' Pokemon. There are quite a few Pokemon living wild on the island, but they tend to avoid areas where the human and Pokemorph residents of the island frequent.

Many of those Pokemon owned on the island either belong to the Labs themselves for various scientific purposes, or belong to various human staff on the island. The latter tend to be companions to the humans which were brought over from the mainland.

Tamed Pokemon are most often seen with human security staff who prefer not to work with a Pokemorph partner, but any human may have one in order to help with their jobs, protect them, or simply keep them company.

Pokemorphs do not capture or train Pokemon as humans do, and tend to uncomfortable about the idea. This is because many were Pokemon in a past life, or at the very least are closely related to them.
