AAAA SHORT CHAPTER! Chapter 5-2: The Hunt Ends X-NAUT COVERT POSITION – NORTHWEST OF YOSHI BODYGUARD BASE Near the large Metal Army complex, Litera and a large detachment of X-Nauts, supported by artillery. This was the largest Metal position on the planet, and from what Litera saw, it was enough to overrun the Yoshi Bodyguard position many times over. The admiral ordered him and the X-Nauts to shell the base should they become active, stalling them until the conscripts could take Whirl. Litera got a buzzing on his com-link, and his eyebrows rose as he listened to the transmission. “We’re moving,” said Litera, “Unmount all artillery pieces and follow me.” YOSHI BODYGUARD BASE – OUTER COMPLEX In a small parking area of the complex, Metal Slug Mk Is, the first generation of a long series and the most versatile tank in the SWD arsenal, were lined up. Only a few guards stood around these precious vehicles, the majority being on the outer walls. Suddenly, a blue light flashed, and the figures of the six conscripts appeared. Eli stood in the center, exhausted, and Ripvor was just regaining consciousness. The two Yoshi Bodyguard Clones took note, and ran for the inner complex, but not before a thunderbolt from Christopher and a mana-based lightning from Amphy hit them both, knocking them down and disabling the functions of their suits. “Alright, so let’s, like, go in! I didn’t get Evelyn’s number.” Teen Angst said. “We’re going to have to be sneaky here,” said Paper, “We can’t afford to alert the base.” The conscripts all began to move into the base, almost on their toes. They turned through several hallways, each lined with doors to different barracks and ammo depots. Then, they stopped at one turn in the hallway, hearing movement. Up ahead, two clones were patrolling the halls. They had to be close now, and surprise was on their side. Then, Teen Angst’s phone rang. ”Hey, I heard something!” said one of the clones, picking up his rifle, and running toward the conscripts. ”Crap!” said Eli, “Wait, I have a plan!” When the clones turned the halls, and moved toward the sound, only to find several cardboard boxes sitting next to one of the ammo depot rooms. Teen Angst was on her side, being a box already. “Odd. But be one of those scanners we got in the last shipment,” one of the clones stated. The two turned to walk away, but not before Ripvor busted out of the box, and slashed through the armor of one clone trooper, then stabbed the neck of the other. Everyone else rose from their boxes. “Was that really necessary?” Amphy said. “Yes.” Ripvor simply stated. “Whatever,” said Eli, “They posted guards, so the center of this base can’t be far. Maybe there’s a map or something.” YOSHI BODYGUARD BASE – CENTER The Conscripts walked through one final door, and then reached a central computer room. A large holopad, with data brought up, made up the centerpiece. It was Whirl’s research, never brought down from when Coshi studied Whirl’s data. ”What does it mean?” said Christopher. Paper went up to examine it further. “It’s… The location of the seventh chaos emerald!” Paper exclaimed, “Alinos. Alimbic Sector.” “Isn’t that where the Yoshi Bodyguards and the Federation bounty hunter, Samus Aran, found the Omega Cannon?” asked Eli. “The same,” said Paper, “Recently though, the Metal Army brought everything they had to hold that sector. They’re using it as a staging ground to attack the federation. The only place with a stronger presence is Mekkai itself.” “I’m going to download this and the remaining research to the X-Naut fleet. Luckily, we haven’t been spotted yet, so that should give us-“ “Not long,” a voice said from the other side of the room. It was Coshi, wielding his gunblade, and priming it on the conscripts. “Oh boy…” Said Amphy. “Where’s Whirl?” said Eli, charging a spell. “Safe,” said Coshi, “Much unlike you six. So you’ve found the location of the seventh emerald. Not like you can do much with it. Besides, you six won’t even be leaving here alive.” ”We’ll see about that!” shouted Ripvor. Chapter 5-3: Betrayal and Honor YOSHI BODYGUARD COMPLEX – CENTRAL COMPUTER STATION MUSIC - GOLDEN SUN BATTLE MEDLEY (Super Smash Brothers Brawl) Immediately, Christopher shot a spark at Coshi, which ricocheted off of the metal end of his gunblade, and hit one of the steel walls. Coshi swung his gunblade around, a fired. Christopher narrowly ducked away before the wall he was standing in front of was blown apart. “Keep him busy!” yelled Paper, working on the main computer, “This data has to get to Grodus! Defend the terminal!” “Not on my watch!” Coshi swung his gunblade at Paper, but was blocked, as Ripvor appeared in front of him, using his claws to parry the blade of the gunblade. Ripvor then jabbed at Coshi with his tail, but Coshi moved away, and followed up with a kick in Ripvor’s stomach. Ripvor was knocked back, stunned by the kick’s sheer force. Eli shouted battle, and charged at Coshi, fist filled with a fireball. Coshi moved to the side, the embers slightly grazing his chest. Coshi then swung a horizontal slash with his gunblade, cutting Eli’s armor at the stomach, but barely scratching the skin. Eli was barely fazed, changing direction and shooting a fireball at Coshi, blasting him back. Coshi slid on the ground, but held his gunblade tight. He fired, barely missing Paper’s head. Paper ducked down, and looked around, shocked. “Keep him off of me!” he shouted. Amphy then began to chant a spell, and his palms began to glow. Amphy shot a beam of stars at Coshi, which streamed with a trail of bright light. Coshi immediately pulled out a small device at his belt, which formed a shield of energy around him. The star spell blasted back at Amphy, who was stunned from the hit. Teen Angst, in the middle of this battle, was still on her cellphone, talking. Christopher picked her up, and tossed her at Coshi, who instinctively moved out of the way. Teen Angst, midst all of this, didn’t even look up from her phone call. While Coshi was distracted, spending a precious second to figure out what the strange talking block was, Eli followed up with a blast of light mana to the back of Coshi’s head. Coshi dropped his gunblade, and was knocked away by the attack. “Sir! We have to pull back!” said a voice on Coshi’s ear communicator, “Code Forge Delta!” “Code Forge?” Coshi said to himself. Then his eyes went wide. Coshi dove for his gunblade, grabbing it from the center of the Conscripts, and ran out one of the entrances. “Yea, you better run!” said Eli, shaking his fist. “Data upload completed,” said Paper, sighing with relief, “All data on Alinos and the seventh emerald is in our hands now.” With that, their communicators activated, and Stalvick’s voice came through. DEFENDER OF HEROES – BRIDGE “Good work men, the data is ours!” Stalvick was overjoyed, smiling ecstatically, “But it looks like the Yoshi Bodyguards are moving their fleet for an escape. Make ready to move in and intercept Whirl and Coshi before they…” Stalvick was interrupted by a massive wave of red on his ground radar. There were thousands, maybe millions of them, moving on the Conscript’s position. ”Wait… I’ve just picked up a massive wave of Metal forces from the northeast. That’s Litera’s position!” Stalvick toggled with the radar and channels on his command console, manipulating them to find the colonel. ”He seems to have moved his forces out of place. Colonel Litera! This is Stalvick! Come in! I’m tracking a massive Metal force in your quadrant! Respond, damn it!” “That is strange, Admiral.” Litera’s smooth voice came through on the commutation line, “My scanners don’t show and Metal at all. Maybe you have a technical problem with your equipment.” “Colonel, if these Metal forces get through we’ll never be able to capture Whirl.” Stalvick said in a near rage, “I’m giving you a direct order to return to your position and reinforce our troops!” “…Oh, I’m sorry sir, but it seems your signal’s fading out. I couldn’t make out that last part.” Litera’s voice began to become consumed with radio static, “I’ll have to reestablish contact later.” “Litera!” Stalvick shouted, but his signal had already completely but out. Stalvick switched back to the channel of the Conscripts, “Conscripts, your position will be completely overrun by superior Metal forces within fifteen minutes. I suggest you evacuate the planet immediately.” Stalvick paused for a second, “And inform Sir Grodus I have a personal matter to attend to.” Stalvick then motioned for the helmsman to move the ship. The signal was given, and the Defender of Heroes, along with half of the fleet, began to disengage from the planet’s atmosphere, and one by one, vanished into hyperspace. YOSHI BODYGUARD BASE – CENTRAL COMPUTER STATION “…What just happened?” said Amphy. “The Metal Army are coming!” said Paper, “And Stalvick and Litera’s signals are both gone, we have to get out of-“ But Paper was cut off, as the base began to shake, and explosions sounded from missile impacts. Then, several of the consoles exploded, and pieces of the ceiling fell. The base was falling apart around them. TO BE CONTINUED IN CHAPTER 5-4: TIDES OF DESTRUCTION |

After rewriting this twice... Chapter 5-4: Tides of Destruction YOSHI BODYGUARD COMPLEX – PRIMARY STRUCTURE All around the conscripts, the base began to fall apart. Large steel pipes and chunks of metal were being knocked down to the floor from missile impacts, and the computer’s power flickered, until it died out. The six ran outside, only to be met by a series of rushing clones, all of whom paid no attention to them, only to the evacuation of the base. Alarms sounded, while explosions echoed through the entire instillation. “We don’t have much time,” said Eli, “We’ve got to find Whirl and get out of here!” “Are you crazy?” shouted Christopher, “Forget Whirl, let’s just get one of the ships and get out of here!” “No transports are coming…” said Paper, “I think Stalvick’s abandoned us, no sign of Litera, we’re going to have to get out ourselves.” “Then let’s stop talking, and, like, run!” Teen Angst yelled, “Heat totally destroys my makeup!” The Conscripts sprinted up the staircase, following the fleeing clones up to the rooftop, leaving the base to crumble under the Metal Army’s bombardment. YOSHI BODYGUARD COMPLEX – EMERGENCY ROOFTOP HANGER On top of the base, Pelican dropships were lined up, ready for transport. Normally, the ships would be inside the instillation, but in emergency situations, the dropships were called to the rooftop in order to evacuate the bulk of the personnel far away from the hangers. This made it easier for the evacuees, but left the dropships as easy targets. Indeed, many of them had already been destroyed by the Metal Army’s bombardment, and those few that took off had a small chance of survival. Coshi stood next to a dropship, clones already inside, next to Glerk, Metal Chaos, Whirl, and Evelyn. He stared out toward the massive mist of black on the horizon. This bombardment was but a softening up. There were millions of aerial units, and who know how many ground assault units. The small force on this outpost on a desolate planet wouldn’t do against a massive Metal Army legion. “Get in!” He motioned for Glerk and Whirl to step into the tightly packed dropship, already filled with other clones. Evelyn seemed in shock, Whirl and Glerk not even trying to hide their concern. Only Metal Chaos remained emotionless throughout the entire process. “Coshi, look out!” Whirl shouted, and pointed to the six conscripts moving up their staircase. Christopher pointed at Coshi, but only Eli moved against them, charging a bolt of manafire. “Crap! Pilot, prepare for takeoff! NOW!” Coshi armed his gunblade with the speed of his years of training, and fired off three bolts at Eli. One wizzed by his head, the other barely missed his arm. The other rammed into Eli’s leg, causing him to fall, screaming in pain. The ship behind Coshi began to move upward, and Coshi jumped inside, just as the dropship door closed. The dropship began to fly off, into the distance. The remaining five Conscripts came up to help Eli. He was alive, the bolt had only hit his leg and missed any major arteries, but it still incapacitated him for the time being. Teen Angst floated next to him, and began to do what little first aid she know, using some scraps of linen to bind the wound. “Incoming.” Ripvor said, as an Ariel Zaku trooper landed next to them. Paper armed the volt device he created before, and fired a stream of energy. The thing was stunned, but alive enough to fire off a shot. Amphy launched a fireball at its eye, which only succeeded to crack the eye socket’s glass. Ripvor then jumped up, and slicked the Zaku’s neck with its tail. The robotic head fell, and rolled on the ground. The body fell, and went silent. Then, several more Zaku’s strafed the conscripts, causing them to scatter. Teen Angst held Eli close, him still unable to walk. Three more landed in front of them, and locked on. Then, from above, several shots hit the Zakus, blasting them apart. An X-Naut transport, apparently unscathed, landed on the platform, and opened up. Litera stood in the entrance. ”Get in!” he yelled, motioning in. The conscripts, unwilling to argue, ran inside. The dropship door closed behind them, and the ship lifted off, flying back above the battle. COSHI’S DROPSHIP – ABOVE THE BATTLEFIELD The packed dropship rumbled as it lifted off, further and further into the sky. The cabin and the cargo bay were separated by only a thin wall, Whirl, Evelyn, Glerk, Metal Chaos, and the ten or so clone troopers in one side, Coshi and the two pilots in the other. “Just a little farther…” Coshi said to himself. They would be out of this, and he would be home. Then, the entire ship shook. On radar, two Ariel Zakus had begun to trail the Pelican. They fired their railguns, blasting apart the back of the ship. The sensor for the left engine flickered red, meaning that it was completely inoperational. Just a little further… He could see the Great Panaj. “Are we going to die?” he could hear Evelyn mutter in the back. Whirl was comforting her. No… He couldn’t die now. Not after all he’d been through. All of the friends he had made, all of the lives that relied on him… Plasshi and Yolky were probably at home, expecting him. He was so close to having a child. No, he wouldn’t die now. “Move over!” Coshi pushed the pilot clone out of the way, and took control of the ship. His target was the hanger bay. If he could make it there, he was home free. Mission accomplished. No one, not even a Metal force, could come between him and his family. Not now, not ever. Coshi ignited the last engine, pushing it into overdrive. The engine power light blinked, as the last remaining engine was being pushed far beyond its limits. But he could still hear the impact of a shot now and then, he wasn’t safe yet. Then, a massive explosion sounded behind them. He had pushed the engine too far. It had exploded. Now all he had left was the little bit of glide, before they fell to their deaths. He only had one shot at this. The hanger bay door was open, and Coshi could still make it. The dropship moved into the hanger, and Coshi slammed on the airbrake. The Pelican skidded against the floor of the hanger, and spun out. It came to a stop, right next to the loading crane, and remained. Both engines were on fire, and the ship was nothing more than a hulk of metal. But they were alive, and that was all that mattered. GREAT PANAJ – BRIDGE The door to the bridge of the massive ship slid open, and Coshi, clouded with ash, stepped in, followed by Whirl’s group. Whirl stood, wide eyed, at the turn of events. “I don’t believe it… We actually survived!” Whirl said, awestruck. “Cutting it a little closer, Jet.” Coshi said to a robotic figure at the front of the bridge. The figure turned, revealing himself to be Jet Gundam. ”Never left you hanging before, sir,” Jet Gundam said. “Fair enough. Just get us the hell out of here,” Coshi mused. Jet Gundam nodded, and activated his built in head comlink. “And batteries, concentrate for forward firepower.” The Great Panaj began to float upward, clouds passing them by. Swarms of Metal forces surrounded the ship, bombarding its armored hull. The frontal canons came online, clearing the forces in front of the ship. ”Spin up drives two and six.” The Great Panaj moved through the atmosphere, and began to pull away from the gravitational pull of the planet. Several Metal forces still lingered around it, like mosquitoes on a larger animal. “All crews, prepare to make the jump to hyperspace on my mark.” Jet Gundam looked at his interface clock, watching the seconds tick by. He calculated the time it took to charge the engines, the time it took to clear the planet, the time it took to ward off a few more problematic metal forces… “Mark!” The Great Panaj suddenly stopped, and the ships engines sparked to life. The image of the massive ship distorted itself, and it sped away from the planet, off to safety. ORBIT OF UNKNOWN PLANET – OUTSIDE OF BATTLE ZONE Litera’s ship moved into orbit, unscathed from the battle. Several X-Naut ships remained from the force Litera was given planetside. But what was strange was the great fleets that supported the ground forces were all gone. The Defender of Heroes, and Stalvick, had left, with only the word of “a personal matter” to allude to his whereabouts. “How did we come out of that without being hit?” said Amphy. “Lucky, I guess,” said Litera. Eli muttered to himself. He didn’t buy it. Something wasn’t right. Litera’s force hadn’t suffered a single casualty, and yet the Yoshi Bodyguards had been almost completely exterminated. And now Stalvick was gone… Eli could only lay on the floor, his leg still wounded from the gunblade shot, and being treated with what supplies there were. “Stalvick ran away…” said Litera, “ I’ve been informed that the Great Panaj has continued to Star World, and it seems we’ve been abandoned by the rest of the X-Naut fleet. I’m going to go back to Sir Grodus to inform him of this... Provided there’s still a Grodus to come back to.” TO BE CONTINUED IN CHAPTER 6-1: FROM THE ASHES OF DEFEAT |

It's kind of funny how Jet Gundam and Teen Angst met almost a year earlier. ;o Although I doubt that group will show up again. And Teen Angst's appearance in that story was purely due to me not actually having any other character that's mine other than Wiggly Jr. appearing in it. IN CONCLUSION, dun dun dun. You should've saved the earlier version and later released it as "delete scenes". ;o Edited by Topmonhit, Jan 6 2009, 09:26 PM.

New Chapter. Also added a banner, and updated the intro to Chapter 3 to fir the canon with Oddtastic. Since now I actually care. Top, if you find anything wrong with this explanation, tell me so I can The hunt for the six known emeralds has come to a close, and Grodus is left in defeat. Having defeated Eggman and Cackletta, Grodus held six of the chaos emeralds in his grasp. However, seeing the X-Naut’s plan unfold, all of the opposing factions allied against Grodus in one final and desperate gambit. Grodus then unlocked the power of six of the chaos emeralds, making him incredibly strong, and able to ward off his attackers. However, without the seventh, he was far from invincible, and a band of heroes from Mobius managed tear the emeralds from his grasp, and scattering across the universe, leaving Grodus without the ability to draw from their power. Grodus was annihilated, and his primary force decimated at the hands of the combined factions. Afterward, SWD forces secured many of the remaining X-Nauts, but Grodus was nowhere to be found… Grodus and a small force of his remaining X-Nauts managed to regroup with the fleet that hunted the seventh emerald, in disarray after Stalvick mysteriously disengaged with his honor guard from his operation on the Yoshi Bodyguard base. Lord Crump has been discharged, and Admiral Stalvick is listed as AWOL, leaving Litera as the second in command to Grodus. Now, with Whirl and Coshi gone, the six emeralds far out of his reach, and the Secret Society decimated, Grodus can only hunt for the answers as to why his old friend abandoned the battle on the Unknown Planet, and the answers seem to lie on the cold moon of Hylia… Chapter 6-1: From the Ashes of Defeat X-NAUT FLEET – NEAR HYLIA’S MOON The X-Naut fleet, now reunited, was larger than Stalvick’s fleet had been before. Sir Grodus himself took the YSS Windfish Class Cruiser, Might of Grodus, to be the capitol ship of the new fleet. It was fitting indeed, Litera thought. Litera was standing in his chambers on the Century Maker, Stalvick’s old atmospheric operations vessel. It was smaller than the Defender of Heroes, Stalvick’s capitol ship, but it would serve his purpose. Litera sat, looking at a hologram of Grodus. His body had been completely destroyed in his last stand, leaving only a head attached to a mechanical contraption. Rumor had it a new body was being build for him, to replace the old one build by the Yoshi Bodyguards that they, ironically, destroyed. “We have tracked Stalvick’s hyperspace route to this location, the moon of planet Hylia” TEC-X3 stated through the holochannel, “The we have noted an X-Naut Outpost on the surface that fails to register through my databanks. It is most likely Stalvick is located there.” “Why would he abandon the battle against the Yoshi Bodyguards?” Grodus questioned himself, “Why has be come here, to this desolate moon?” “I mean no offense, Sir Grodus,” Litera began, “But perhaps Stalvick’s loyalties are not as strong as you once believed.” “Because you are young and foolish, Colonel, I will pardon that insult,” Grodus firmly said, “Trovis and I have been friends since long before you were born. However, he must be found. If Stalvick is here, he will account for his actions.” “Sir Grodus,” stated TEC-X3, “Our sensors have detected a fully functional AI Disruptor on the planet’s surface directly below our position. It would seem that Admiral did not destroy the AI Disruptor on Mobius as was ordered.” “What?” Grodus shouted, “Impossible!” “I warned you, Sir Grodus!” Litera began, a tone of anger in his voice, “Stalvick has betrayed you! He has reconstructed the AI Disruptor in order to take the Secret Society when we are at our weakest!” “I can’t believe it…” Grodus sighed, a great sadness looming in his voice, “Yet, the evidence is incontrovertible. Trovis, what have you done?” Grodus’s head looked down, and sighed greatly, pondering his next words carefully, thinking over everything. Crump was gone, his mission had failed, and now Stalvick has turned traitor. Something had to be done, here and now. “Perhaps you have been right all along, Colonel,” Grodus said, now more stern than before, “On my authority, enter the AI Disruptor… and… deal with the Admiral appropriately…” “Of course, Sir Grodus,” Litera said, emotionless. The holovid shut off, and Litera walked out of his room. Now it was time to finish the job. CHAPTER 6: TRAITOR’S HAND GROUND NEAR AI DISRUPTOR – SEVERAL HOURS LATER The moonscape of Hylia’s satellite planetoid was barren, save for the small outpost. In the center of a small encampment lay the massive AI Disruptor, seemingly torn from Doctor Eggman’s base in Scrap Brain Zone. The Disruptor was offline, but at full capacity. The base was quiet, as the Conscript’s ships landed, one by one, away on the ground near the Disrupter. The entire area was devoid of life, and nothing even bothered to impend the ships as they landed. The conscripts, headed by Litera, came out of their ships. Walking to the Disruptor’s entrance. Each was armed with a small stun gun, powerful, but non lethal. All except Litera. He had live ammunition. Litera said nothing as they walked toward the metal door. Eli eyed him warily. His leg had just been treated for the gunblade shot, and he was back on his feet. But he still never could shake the feeling he had at the last battle. He had been working with Litera for a few months now, and he had never seen him act like this. He seemed to be the only one in the squad that didn’t trust him. ”Colonel, hang tight for a moment while we clear the area,” said Christopher, moving toward the door. He pressed his paw on the keypad, and was greeted with a red lock. “They locked the door…” said Paper, pulling out a small bomb from his Shy Guy robe and placing it on the door, “Set them.” Instantly, the metal door was blown inward, leaving a pillar of dust. The sound was defining, splitting the quiet atmosphere on the moons still surface. As the smoke began to clear, several shots from pulse rifles blasted toward the Conscripts, who found cover in the nick of time. ”They’re, like, shooting us!” said Teen Angst, “Rude much?” “Remember, we don’t want to kill then!” shouted Paper. Ripvor then ran at the firing X-Nauts, and vanished. Then, a shocking sound was heard, and the shots ceased. All as quiet again, as the conscripts walked into the Disruptor. The X-Naut defenders were on the floor, Ripvor standing over them with his stun gun. “We’re in,” said Ripvor, “This room's clear. We should move.” The group continued in, Litera hanging back, as Eli noted suspiciously. The layout was exactly like the Disruptor at the Scrap Brain Zone, although lacking the manufacturing plants that Eggman put in every nook and cranny. The group finally came to two X-Naut scientists, in the middle of a conversation, standing by a terminal. “’Sup?” one said. “Where’s Stalvick?” Christopher asked threateningly. “Don’t tell those traitor’s anything Harry!” one shouted, reaching for his pistol. He was met by a shockwave from Amphy, which brought them to the ground, stunning them. “Look, a computer! It might be able to tell us where Stalvick is!” said Eli. Christopher moved forward toward it, eying through the protocols on the screen. “Uhhh… It says ‘hit any key,’” Christopher muttered, “Well… Well which one’s the any key?” “Give me that!” shouted Eli, who took control of the terminal, and pressed a button on the keyboard. The Computer then started up with security footage of a different room. This one was large and filled with equipment. On the walls, Magnus von Grapple suits were lined up, some damaged, some in working order. The side of the screen read “Magnus Repair Bay: Sector 7.” “Huh,” said Paper, “We might be able to use some of those. It’d make our life a whole lot easier. “ “See if this computer can’t, like, tell us where Stalvick is!” Teen Angst said. “Alright… Let’s see…” Eli began taping on the keypad, trying to change the video feed, when suddenly the screen went black. ”ACCESS CODE DENIED.” The computer stated. Behind them, the sound of a machine gun loading was heard. Security guns, missile launchers, and flame throwers that lined the walls, floors, and ceilings all came up from false tiles and pointed at the Conscripts. “I hate computers,” said Christopher. All of them? Including the one they never found? Uhh... Because then, this story has no purpose. ![]() I guess I could come up with a way to make it so the emerald goes back to Mobius before that happens. I guess. I dunno. MY STORY WAS FIRST! *cry* |
