Managed to finish before tonight... I won't be able to even start on it tomorrow, but maybe on Thursday. CURSE SCHOOL SPORTS!

Chapter 3-3: Eggman’s Legacy

SCRAP BRAIN ZONE INNER SANCTUM – NEAR THE AI DISRUPTOR

With the inner sanctum’s shield down, the X-Nauts had made their strike. A small transport, flanked by five support craft and two bombers, flew over the inner sanctum with ease. With the Badnik’s already in disorder from the previous Metal Army attack, no air attacks were made against them.

In the transport, Litera, Eli, and a strike team of X-Nauts all were huddled. Litera sat on a bench, modifying his canister rifle for the situation. Eli leaned next to a window, watching the giant relay dish come closer into sight. The thing was massive, overshadowing the entire area.

“Ok, men,” Litera began, “We are to take the central complex in the name of Lord Grodus. Secure the area, and gain access to Eggman’s central computer. Then we will plant explosives around the AI Disruptor. We don’t leave until the Disruptor’s destroyed. Understood?”

“Yes sir!” The X-Nauts echoed in unison. Only Eli stood next to the window in wonder. He had known Litera for a while now. Why was he so frantic about destroying this relay? He shook off the question. He had his reasons, and it wasn’t a soldier’s right to ask.

The transport came to a halt as it landed on the ground near the central complex. The doors creaked open, and slided apart.

“Alright, boys!” Eli shouted, “This is our stop! Everybody out!”

The X-Nauts poured out of the transport, clutching their pulse rifles to their chests, their red cloths showing their uniformity. Outside, several EggRobos took positions around their complex. There were armed with small particle cannons, which began to change.

Several of the X-Nauts took out two of the EggRobos with lucky shots to the head. Litera was far more accurate, taking out three with his canister rifle. Eli took a more direct approach, jolting bolts of lightning at the remaining EggRobos, causing them to overload and burst apart.

“Lord, these are easier than the Metal Army,” Eli muttered.

”Eggman concentrates more on a fast production time,” said Litera, “The Metal Army has access to more powerful materials and designs. Come on, we need to finish this mission up.” Litera motioned toward the X-Nauts, “You all stay outside, and make sure nothing follows us in. We will take this instillation’s mainframe, and secure it.”

And with that note, the two walked into the complex.

SCRAP BRAIN ZONE – CENTRAL COMPLEX

Litera and Eli had very little trouble wandering the corridors of the central complex. Maps were posted up on the wall, and the route to the central computer was a straight shot. It had seemed Eggman did not suspect anyone would have made it this far behind his defenses.

Different viewing stations were set up, showing the production of different Badnik types. Assembly lines were working, still producing their robotic products.

“Seems we can’t go three steps without some madman with a robot army.” Eli muttered to himself.

After a small staircase, the two centered a circular room. Circuit boxes and large pistons lined the walls, working at an endless pace. In the center, a terminal was set up, data still running across its screen.

“This is what we’ve come for. It seems the area’s secure. Let us inform the Admiral to send down a demolition-“

“Colonel, look out!”

Eli tackled Litera just in time to avoid a rocket that streamed overhead. The two got up to see their attacker, a metal hedgehog looking robot. Its arm was in the shape of a cannon, its body yellow and silver, and its eyes a glowing red. It seemed to resemble the Shadow of Mobian lore.

The Metal Shadow adjusted its arm cannon, and it’s barrel became smaller. It took aim at Litera and Eli, and fired a stream of bullets, which ricocheted around the room, hiding the piston-lined walls.

”We can’t let this thing hit the central computer!” Litera shouted.

Eli rolled behind the Metal Shadow, and blasted it across the room with a fireball. In mid-air, Metal Shadow sustained himself with a jetpack, and launched himself towards Litera. Litera fired off a shot from his canister rifle, hitting Metal Shadow in it’s face and cracking it’s metal plating, but not even phasing it from it’s tackling of Litera.

Litera and Metal Shadow wrestled with each other for a few seconds, before Metal Shadow pinned him to the ground. Eli grabbed a piston from the wall using his magic, and tossed it at Metal Shadow, who was then rammed against the wall.

Metal Shadow busted out of the piston, body cracked very slightly, and adjusted its cannon to a large barrel. It then took aim, and fired a large beam across the room, just missing the central computer. The beam sustained itself as it streaked toward Eli.

Eli ducked out of the way, and shot a bolt of lightning at Metal Shadow, who began to seizure and spark, his beam still firing.

Litera then took a sharp piece of metal from the broken bits of the wall, and jammed it into the cracks in its head plate. The Metal Shadow dropped its arm cannon, and its eyes went out. The metal corpse then slumped on the floor, dead.

“Is the computer OK?” Litera said, panting.

“Yea, it’s fine.” Eli said, using the terminals “Didn’t even scratch the paint job. Let’s get a tech team in here to decode this. I hope this doesn’t turn into another Fahr.”

”And tell him to bring down those demo crews,” Litera added.

DEFENDER OF HEROES BRIDGE – SEVERAL HOURS LATER

Stalvick tapped his fingers on his chair, waited impatiently for a report. They had secured the Scrap Brain Zone for the X-Nauts, and his tech crews were decoding the data. For all of the trouble they were going through, he hoped it had been worth it.

In front of him, a hologram of an X-Naut scientist appeared, saluting him with the normal X-Naut salute. Stalvick returned it, and went back in his seat.

“What news?” he asked.

“The data on the chaos emeralds were immense,” said the tech X-Naut, “He has the locations of the first six all jotted down to the centimeter. Unfortunately, we have no information on the seventh. Even he couldn’t find it.”

Stalvick was about to slump in despair, when he added:

“We did find something, however, I’ll forward it to you.”

With that, a message left by Doctor Eggman to his robots, with his trademark logo of his face in the background, appeared on Stalvick’s holopad.

“ATTENTION ROBOT UNDERLINGS

Be on the lookout for the Mobian Scientist Whirl. It is believed that he has technology and knowledge capable of locating the elusive seventh Chaos Emerald. He has been last seen secure behind GUN lines since the invasion of the Metal Army. The one who captures him and brings him to me will be rewarded.

Soon will be the rise of the Eggman Empire!
-Doctor Ivo Robotnik”

“Whirl…” Stalvick muttered to himself. He knew of this scientist. He had directly interfered with their operations before, using his warship to stop both Eggman and Grodus from gaining control of the seven chaos emeralds before. So, the Mobian Forces were keeping him safe… Well, he would see about that.

“Forward this to Lord Grodus,” Stalvick said to a nearby X-Naut, “And inform him that I will begin the hunt immediately.”

SCRAP BRAIN ZONE – OUTSIDE THE AI DISRUPTOR

Litera stood impatiently outside the main complex, waiting for the tech crews to be evacuated. Demolition crews were on route, he knew. After they were done, the entire building, AI Disruptor and all, would be burnt down to ash.

With the last transport in the air, Litera went to his com-link, contacting fleet command.

“Admiral, we’ve confirmed that the AI Disruptor is secure. Shall we plant the explosives on it?”

Just as he spoke, another transport came down, carrying several special force X-Nauts. These held several tech crews inside, as well as different forms of detonation and storage equipment.

“Colonel Litera,” one began, “We’re here to relieve you. We’ve come here with orders from Admiral Stalvick himself to facilitate the disruptor’s disassembly.”

“Very well,” Litera said, “Take it away. Admiral, I will be returning to the command ship presently.”

So, after going through all hell to finish this within the week...

The Metal Army's invasion of Mobius is in full swing. The Zinc Legion ruthlessly continues their advance, establishing a strong foothold on the planet’s southern hemisphere. The Galactic Federation and local GUN Militants have moved out to defend the planet, and have managed to use their great fleets and sheer power to push their forces back.

Meanwhile, the fight for the chaos emeralds is up in the air. The Yoshi Bodyguards, X-Nauts, Eggman’s Badniks, and others continue to push for the emeralds, seeking the power of the seven combined. The Shroob pact with the X-Naut has fallen apart, leaving the Secret Society to fend for itself.

Now, more then ever, Grodus must to find a device that can locate the lost seventh emerald. Stalvick now must hunt across a war torn Mobius to find a single scientist: Whirl. The entire fate of their operation rests on the fact that he is found…

Chapter 4-1: The Eyes of the Federation

X-NAUT FLEET – 25 AU FROM MOBIUS

Aboard the Defender of Heroes, the conscripts stood on the bridge, viewing the control room to their massive capitol ship. Stalvick stood next to a hologram of Sir Grodus, in all of his majesty. Litera stood away from the rest of the group, him now being of special interest of Grodus.

“Conscripts, once again your work has set a fine example for the rest of my forces,” Grodus began, “Admiral Stalvick has informed me that the Disruptor has been accounted for, and we can now move on to the next phase of our operation. The time has come to find the one scientist capable of locating the emerald that has eluded us so. Trovis, fill the good men in on the current situation.”

“As you all may know, this planet is currently undergoing a fierce strike from the Metal Army. This will prove to our advantage, as the local defensive forces are too distracted to notice our operations in this sector. We will be sending our two human resources,” Stalvick nodded toward Eli and Litera, “To infiltrate the Galactic Federation’s orbital relay center.”

With this, Stalvick brought up a hologram of a large instillation, with satellite dishes almost the size of the building itself.

“This relay not only holds all of the transmitions made by the Federation since their arrival, but controls their orbital bombardment functions, communications networks, and most of the radar scanners. If we can find the transmition we need and destroy this instillation, the Federation will be effectively blind.”

“So, I take it we need to find one transmition that leads us to this Whirl character?” said Litera.

“Correct,” Grodus said, “You will enter the base in Federation uniform, take the transmition, disable the relay, and return to the fleet. Good luck. The entire fate of the Secret Society rests in your hands.”

And with that, his hologram faded away.

“But no pressure…” muttered Eli under his breath as he and Litera walked away.

CHAPTER 4: THE HUNT FOR WHIRL

FEDERATION BASE CAMP – SOUTHERN DESERTS

In the skies above the deserts, a small Federation transport sped, leaving a golden strand of exhaust in its wake. The ship rose over a large sand dune, until it came in sight of s sprawling mass of tents, factories, and buildings. The Federation base camp was massive, and the figures of large ground assault walker suits and rows of tanks could be seen.

“Let’s hope this works. I’d hate to think of what’d happen if our cover was blown.” Eli and Litera were in full Galactic Federation Marine standard battlesuits, left on ships liberated from Renton. Eli was piloting the ship, while Litera stood in the corner.

“Base Camp Fellowship Air Control to Federation Vessel 6-MG. Requesting conformation code.” A voice of a human male came through the command pad of the transport’s front.

“Rodger Fellowship,” Eli said, now looking down at a card in his hand, “Code five-five-two-oh-nine-delta. Requesting permission to land for maintenance on the relay.”

“Acknowledged, 6,” the voice of the air traffic control, “Land in drop zone 4, it’s two blocks away from the orbital relay.”

“Rodger,” Eli then closed the com, and released a sigh of relief, “Thank god! I thought this wasn’t gonna work!”

“It will.” Litera said, picking up a small toolbox, “Land this thing and we’ll get started.”

Eli landed the Federation transport on a large landing pad, within sight of the relay. The door on the dropship slid open, and Eli and Litera stepped out, both carrying tool kits. The only difference between the two’s full Federation gear were the size of the suits, Eli’s being smaller to fit his stature.

All around them, troops that would normally be pounding them with gunfire simply walked by them, not even taking note. Eli and Litera took advantage of this, and moved at a brisk pace toward the array.

INSIDE THE ORBITAL RELAY – FEDERATION BASE CAMP

The two moved into the relay, getting nods of approval from the passing troopers, who didn’t seem to notice they were new arrivals. Eli and Litera moved into the elevator, and pressed the button to go up.

“All good so far,” said Eli, his voice slightly distorted by the helmet’s mic system.

“We’re not done yet,” Litera muttered.

The door opened, revealing the control apparatus to the orbital relay. Two Federation technicians sat, monitoring transmitions and maps sent from the ships.

“Good, you two are here,” One of the Federation technicians began, “You can start by-“

Litera pulled a silenced pistol from his side, and shot the technician before he could finish. As the other one could even respond, Litera swung around and shot the other one in the head, bringing him to the ground.

“What the hell, Litera!” Eli shouted, “We brought stunners! There was no need to kill them!”

“…Scum, all of them…” Litera was muttering under his breath, “Let’s finish up here. Uplink to the computer, and prepare the virus.”

Eli nodded, and opened his case, revealing a small labtop. He plugged it into a slot on the on the base of the panel, and began uploading transmitions.

“The Federation has been busy…” Eli said, skimming through the data, “Deploying several regiments… Two capitol ships, too. They really don’t want to lose this planet. Wait, I think I’ve found something… It’s pretty secured, but I think I can crack it… There!”

Eli brought up a transmition on the labtop. Text scrolled by on the screen as an audio played.

“…We’re sending a transport to evacuate you to Station Square, it’s the most secure place on this planet. We can’t let the Metal Army get their hands on your technological knowledge.” A gruff, old human male voice said.

”And my lab?” said a younger, high-pitched male animal voice.

“We’re keeping its location a secret, this transmition itself is on our most secure channel. Rest assured, no one it going to find it.” Said the Federation officer.

“Good, I’m leaving a few of my creations there, just in case. There’s… Something… I don’t want to lose here, and I think it’d be safer than in the target zone of all of these Metal attacks…”

The transmition faded out, and Litera gave Eli a nod. He nodded back, and went back to typing on the keyboard, loading the coordinates of each end of the transmition. When he was done, he pressed a single button triumphantly.

”All data saved, and virus uploaded,” Eli said, leaning back and putting his hands behind his head, “The entire Federation force should go into chaos about… Now.”

The relay’s power began to grind to a halt, the lights on the control panel going out first, then the lights overhead. Eli unplugged the labtop, and stuffed it back in the briefcase. With the elevator out, the two moved for the stairs.

Trying not to look suspicious, Eli and Litera walked down at a brisk walk as opposed to an all out run. After about ten flights of stairs, the two reached the ground level of the relay, and moved out of the back door.

“Get out of here! Run! Get to the transports!” Federation troopers were sprinting by, as air raid sirens sounded throughout the base. Move! Move!”

”What the…” Eli said, stopping with Litera pointed to a massive golden streak on the horizon that began to move into the sky.

“That’s not a-“ Litera nodded to Eli morbidly, “Oh my GOD! Let’s get the hell out of here!”

The two sprinted for their transport, their briefcases dangling at the sides. Federation invasion-class transports were lifting off, moving what they could out of the base. Troops were abandoning buildings like mad, trying to get to some form of safety.

Eli and Litera ran into their old transport, and began to lift off before they could even close the door. The transport sped away from the base at top speed, not even caring what direction it moved, as long as it got away from there.

“Who would fire one of those?” Eli shouted, panicked.

“The Metal Army, I can assume,” said Litera, “We must have knocked out the Federation’s ability to counter them when we destroyed the relay. We have to report this to Lord Grodus, NOW.”

Eli and Litera then noticed a flash, then, a massive, planet shaking shockwave that was even felt in the air. Sand from the desert air flew back in a wave, almost enveloping Litera and Eli’s dropship. The two moved upward, and into the planet’s atmosphere.

Behind them, a large mushroom cloud persisted over what was once the Federation base, sending up a dust that blocked out the sun over the desert.

The Metal Army isn't still attacking Mobius at nowtimes, is it?

What are they doing, anyway? Should I be asking Sneezier this?

Really I just want this story arc I've begun to have more of an impact other than just Top Story. >_>

Also transmission.

Just think, if the Metal Army did get Mobius, and it was long enough for me to get to Story 13, it'd be chaos.

But that would change everything. And be complicated.

The Metal Army is there because Mobius is the hotbed of technological advancements. And because I said so.

And no, they aren't still there. That'll be explained in the next chapter. They leave before you even get there in Oddtastic.

And that would be why spellcheck wasn't picking anything up for transmission. >_<

I. FINALLY. FREAKING. FINISHED. THIS!

School and wrestling ate by life away for the past week, so basically, this was written one sentence at a time.

Chapter 4-2: Ground Zero

DEFENDER OF HEROES – 22 AU FROM MOBIUS

The bridge of the Defender of Heroes was oddly quiet, as Admiral Stalvick and his conscripts stood, watching the hologram of the expanding mushroom cloud on the Federation’s primary base in this sector. Stalvick stroked his chin, sitting back in his chair.

”It seems the Federation’s ability to detect counter ballistic high orbit missiles was disabled when we destroyed their orbital relay,” said Litera.

“True, Colonel,” Stalvick mumbled, “We could have never foreseen that the Metal Army would take advantage of this situation so fast… And to make matters worse, we have received new intelligence. TEC-X3, if you’d please.”

TEC-X3 brought up a layout of the Metal Army position on his screen. Their radar jamming techniques distorted most, but the shapes of twenty large nuclear warheads, all being transported to their silos, could be seen.

“We believe that they have enough warheads to annihilate all major military and population centers, and you can bet that Station Square, the location of our target, Whirl, will be their top propriety. We can’t let this happen. We’ve gone through too much to let these piles of rust blow everything away in their blind wrath.”

“What are you proposing, sir?” asked Paper.

“Mobius’s military force, GUN, has taken over control of the remaining planetside forces, and are planning a last air and mech blitz on the silos. Unfortunately, without the relay’s closed channels, everyone has been tipped off to this, the Metal Army included. That is why I am sending Paper, Ripvor, and Amphy to disable their ability to defend against this air blitz. You two will plant high explosive charges on their primary A-A batteries on the northern front.” Stalvick brought up pictures of three massive cannons, pointing upward at the sky, “Only then might this blitz succeed.”

“It would be my honor,” Paper said.

“Alright,” Ripvor simply stated.

”Alright, time to nuke the nukes! HAHA! I made a funny!” Amphy said, with no one even bothering to respond, “Oh, you all suck anyway.”

“Should even one of these go off, we might loose Whirl. We cannot allow any harm to befall our target! Good luck!”

METAL ARMY POSITION – HILLTOP ZONE

The Metal Army position was packed tight. The very ground, once lush and green, now began to solidify into the solid iron and steel that the Metal Army could draw from all organic life. Buildings and factories sprung up where there once were peaceful rolling hills and grass.

In the sky, several GUN Hunter-class mechs, followed by a Federation bomber, flew over the Metal Army position. The GUN Hunters flanked the bomber, as to ward off any other mech suits that would attempt to resist them.

Then, one of the large cannons fired, sending a single shell into the air. The shell exploded, sending a shockwave of energy out in all directions. The mechs and the bomber were hit, and all were sent flying to the ground, flaming hulks of metal.

”Well… That would be most unpleasant to be hit with.” Noted Paper.

The three were standing on a hilltop over the base, overlooking the three massive cannons that made up the Zinc Legion’s primary air defenses. Each were spread out, far apart, enough to compensate for the large distance the base made.

“So, who wants which cannon?” Paper muttered.

“You, west.” Ripvor pointed to Amphy, “You, central.” He pointed now to Paper. Then, he jumped into the air, heading east before anyone else could even respond.

“Oh yea!… Well… I can do that too!” Amphy jumped up in the air, and began rolling down the hilltop they were on. Paper simply sighed, and walked toward his designated cannon.

WESTERN CANNON

At the base of the massive A-A cannon, five Zakus and a Dom Brute stood guard. Their robotic eyes scanned the area, attempting to find any assassins that may come in to disable their position. Then, their audio sensors spiked.

”LA LI LA LI LA!” Amphy skipped along, singing loudly to himself, his explosive charge dangling from his hand. The Metal Army forces took note, and began firing their automatic cannons at Amphy.

“AHHHH!” Amphy screamed, sliding under the Zaku Troopers. The Dom Brute fired it’s fuel rod cannon at Amphy, who sprinted away. The blast blew the Zaku troopers into smoldering scrap.

Amphy jumped on the Dom Brute’s head, and delivered a jolt of electricity. The Brute fell, overloaded from the jolt of energy.

”Well… That was close!” Amphy ran up to the cannon, and strapped the charge to the firing mechanism. He then armed it, and pressed the detonator in his hand

“Oh, wait. I think I was supposed to wait-“

EASTERN CANNON

In the distance, a massive explosion could be seen on the base of the cannon furthest west. The Metal Army troops turned to see the hulking turret begin to crumble down into dust.

Suddenly, one of the Zakus fell to the ground, it’s head rolling. Then, and other with a hole in it’s chest. The three remaining Zakus and an Assassin Gouf Ranger turned around, looking for the target.

When another Zaku’s head was sliced off, the Gouf targeted on the assassin. Ripvor’s body could be seen by it’s sensor, even at his high speed, The Gouf trained it’s rifle on it, and fired, narrowly missing him. The Zakus turned in confusion, as Ripvor ran by, slicing them in two. When he sped for the Assassin Gouf, he drew his blade, parrying him back, and knocking him off balance.

Ripvor regained himself, and ran at the Gouf. The Gouf fired, this time scraping his shoulder. Ripvor reeled back, and then completely vanished. The Gouf turned around, looking amongst the bodies of his allies. The biotic couldn’t have vanished completely… It was impossible to simply vanish from targeting…

Then, he turned to see the bomb strapped to the base of the cannon. Before he could react, the Gouf was enveloped in a bright flash of plasma, and was no more.

CENTRAL CANNON

Several Zakus were on their feet, falling back deeper into the base. Suddenly, the both of them blown back by a burst of electricity, and fell to the ground, smoking from the inside. Paper stepped in, a massive sparking gun-like weapon in his hands.

“Seventeen thousand volts of pure electricity. This should be enough for them.” He muttered to himself

Paper shouldered his weapon, and turned toward several other Zakus, shocking them down. They were blasted back, disorienting the other defenders around them. Paper threw a small grenade of his design, which exploded in burst of electricity, destroying several Zakus and a Dalek.

A defending Dom Brute turned to face Paper, and knocked two Zakus out of the way to start a furious charge. The Dom Brute stampeded toward Paper, who armed his Volt cannon, which whined as it charged its voltage. Paper unleashed the voltage, blasting the Dom Brute with a stream of electrical energy. The Brute continued its charge, even through the wave of energy. Paper increased the voltage, powering the strength of the stream. The Dom Brute’s torso began to explode from the overload of energy, and it began one final swipe at Paper before its head casket exploded. Paper was knocked on his side, the gun thrown away from him.

Paper regained his composure, and ran toward the fallen volt cannon, just as a Gelgoog Elite noticed Paper. Paper dove for the gun, as the Gelgoog Elite kicked it out of the way, and prepared its arm blade to strike the unarmed Paper. Paper swiftly pulled out his side arm, and fired at the Gelgoog’s head, blowing it off.

Paper got up, seeing the rest of the Metal Army in chaos. He turned behind him, to see a wave of darkness on the horizon. Shapes of aircraft and mech suits were barely distinguishable among the mass of ships.

They were running out of time.

The cannon began to turn its barrel on the advancing GUN and Federation forces. Paper ran to the base of the cannon, and set the demo charge. He then took off, sprinting toward the rendezvous point.

GUN/FEDERATION ATTACK FORCE – OUTSIDE METAL ARMY POSITION

Just as the ships flew in, the last cannon exploded in a mass of fire, and soon crumbled to dust. On the Metal Army base, hundreds of GUN suits descended, bombarding the factories and remaining forces. The Zinc Legion barely had time to put any of their forces in the sky. Transports filled with troopers and ground attack forces landed around the base.

The bombers advanced through the sky, virtually unimpeded, into the Zinc Legion’s nuclear silos. There, they unleashed their payload on the still arming nukes. Without the order to detonate, the nukes were blasted apart just like everything else surrounding the nuclear silos. Even after every nuke was destroyed, the bombardment did not cease.

Near the base, Paper managed to sprint to a blackened Amphy, still smoldering. Paper opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted.

“Don’t… Ask.” Amphy managed, still panting.

Ripvor appeared behind the two of them, and nodded his approval.

“I’ll tell Stalvick we won.” Ripvor then motioned pulled out a remote, and pressed a button. The Raptor uncloaked itself, and its doors slid open. The group walked in, and the ship promptly took off, leaving the Zinc Legion to its demise.

Well, I might name those suicidal charging Dom Brutes, Banzai Doms. Oh, I hope that the Metal Army will act like Soviets in C&C: Red Alert series using brute force overwhelming numbers.

I sorta based it on that concept in the first place. Except for the elites.

And I just figured that's what a Dom Brute would do.

And the Metal Army will be kinda out of the spotlight for now, but as we get closer to the end, they'll become the center of attention once again.

Chapter 4-3: The Rabbit’s Snare

UNKNOWN FLEET – 50 AU FROM MOBIUS

A fleet of ships drifted slowly in space, moving toward Mobius. At its head was a large capitol ship, obscured by the shadow of the nearby planet of which the fleet hid.

On the ship’s bridge, a robotic figure looked over the charts of the Federation/GUN attack on the Zinc Legion. The images flipped between different views of the battlefield, as the assault continued against the Metal Army. Then, with a look of surprise, the robot zoomed in on one of the images. It was of the small X-Naut fleet, hiding nearby.

“How’s it going?” said a living, yet rough voice behind the robot.

“The Metal Army’s invasion force is estimated to be wiped from Mobius in eight days,” the robot said, “But we did locate something strange… It’s the fleet of liberated ships from Renton.”

”So… The X-Nauts are here too,” said the figure, “Keep an eye on them. We’ll wait for when they don’t expect it, then, we’ll hit them.”

SOUTHERN REGION OF MOBIUS- NEAR WHIRL’S LABORATORY

The Totally and the Christopher’s Fire flew through the air near the fields, moving toward the location of Whirl’s Lab.

“Our tech teams of decrypted the data, and have finally located Whirl’s Workshop,” Stalvick said over a transmission to both ships, “The Federation and local GUN Forces are distracted, and will be so for several days while they finish off the Metal Army presence here. You are to secure the lab and its research, as well as find the ‘valuable thing’ the scientist mentioned. It may be a useful barging chip for when we need him in the future.”

On the outskirts of Mobius’s plains, the two ships landed in a lone patch of field. The hatches to both ships opened, and Christopher and Teen Angst stepped out, followed by several X-Nauts. Christopher sighed as Teen Angst waved at him, and the two walked forward to a group of X-Naut Special Forces that was standing nearby.

”Well?” Christopher asked, “What do you have to tell us?”

“We’ve finished scouting the perimeter of the complex,” said the X-Naut, “Thermal scans show a life form in the central room, and though we couldn’t pinpoint it, we have detected some form of AI in the base as well. Be on your guard.”

“An AI?” Teen Angst said, “Chrissy will protect me, won’t you?”

”SHUT UP!” Christopher shouted, “For the billionth time, my name’s Christopher, we have a mission to complete, and I AM NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND!”

“Sure, Chrissy.” Teen Angst giggled. Christopher sighed, and motioned the X-Nauts to walk into the lab’s entrance.

“You know what to do,” Christopher told the X-Nauts, “Tech crews stay at the door, we need to find what research we can in there. Then, we need to find whatever Whirl thought was valuable down there, and secure it. You two, with me. The rest, stay at the entrance. Now let’s move out!”

WHIRL’S LABORATORY- INSIDE

Teen Angst, Christopher, and two X-Nauts moved past rows of unfinished robotic creations, computers, and lab tables. The two hadn’t run into anyone, but continued to move silently, keeping quiet.

“What exactly is it we’re looking for?” whispered one of the X-Nauts.

”Let’s start with the organic signal we picked up. It could be some sort of bioweapon.” Christopher motioned toward the next door, the one supposed to house the signal.

The X-Nauts nodded, and rammed into the door, knocking it open. They armed their pulse rifles, and pointed it around the room. Christopher and Teen Angst both moved in, Christopher’s cheeks sparking, ready for attack.

“Who’s there?” Shouted a shrill, female voice, which came from a young rabbit in the back of the room.

“A Mobian? In a top secret lab?” one of the X-Nauts said, “This can’t be right. Identify yourself!”

“Whirl told me about people like you trying to get in here! Go away, or you’ll regret it!”

“You’re our target’s boyfriend?” Teen Angst said, “That’s so romantic!”

“Whirl’s girlfriend?” Christopher exclaimed, “That would be why he wanted to leave her in here. Security’s still lower than I would have thought… Ah well. Capture her!”

The two X-Nauts moved in, las-cuffs set. One tackled her, while another attached the handcuffs. The rabbit shrieked.

“Metal Chaos! Help me!”

“Metal… What?” Christopher said. The two X-Nauts turned around to see a pool of gray liquid form on the floor. The pool formed into a shape much like the mythical Chaos Zero, and it let out a strange, electrical sound.

“Oh boy…” Christopher said. The two X-Nauts threw plasma grenades, but Metal Chaos liquefied as the grenades detonated, and morphed behind the two X-Nauts, and knocking one over with an uppercut. He then swung around, knocking the other one back. Both slumped unconscious. Metal Chaos then focused its eyes on Christopher.

“Oh CRAP!” Christopher managed just as Metal Chaos flew at him, knocking him with his fist. Metal Chaos grabbed Christopher, and threw him aside.

In the meantime, Teen Angst moved up to the rabbit, and smiled.

”Hi! I’m Teen Angst! It’s, like, so awesome to see another girl around here!”

”I’m Evelyn!” the rabbit said, surprisingly happy for someone who was just captured, “I’m sure Whirl will come for me soon. He’s done this before!”

”Awww… That’s romantic!” said Teen Angst, “Christopher would do that for, me, wouldn’t you Chrissy.

”AHHH-HHH-HHH-HHH!” Christopher screamed, as Metal Chaos was picking him up and smashing him into the ground.

“He built everything here, but the Federation wanted him. They said he was too important to leave out here,” Evelyn continued, “I miss him so much.”

”Awww… That’s sad,” said Teen Angst, “I wouldn’t imagine life without Chrissy, unless, like, a hotter guy came along…”

“Oh no, not the face, not the face not the AHHH! OW! OW! OW!” Christopher was being held against the wall, as Metal Chaos pounded him with his free hand.

“He’ll be back soon, though. I have his special number, he told me to call just in case something went wrong!” Evelyn pulled out a small communications device, and looked at it.

“You mean, like, a cell-phone?” Teen Angst said.

”MY BLOOD! HE’S PUNCHING OUT ALL MY BLOOD!”

“Yea, I should probably call him soon… He’s left me before, but I swear to it, he will be mine!” Evelyn said with conviction.

Metal Chaos pulled up the limp Christopher will his free hand, and winded up for another punch, when Christopher noticed a grenade sticking out of it’s side, thrown by one of the X-Nauts. In one last-ditch move, Christopher shot a bolt of energy at the deactivated grenade.

The grenade began to blink, and exploded. Metal Chaos was sent into pieces, his liquid body all around the room. Christopher managed to get up, but could barely stand.

“Alright!” he managed, “Enough tricks! We’re coming with me!”

”Whirl will come for me! I swear!” said Evelyn, “You haven’t won yet!

“Yea, yea, yea…” Christopher said, “Teen Angst, call the boss, tell him to bring the tech crews in. Tell him we got the target.”

“Sure thing… Chrissy.” Teen Angst got back on her call-phone, while Christopher tried to wake up the unconscious X-Nauts.

Oddly enough, Metal Chaos’s remains had vanished… It had to be a failsafe. Christopher shrugged it off, and continued working.

WHIRL’S LAB- TWO HOURS LATER

Several X-Naut ships had landed outside the lab. Eli, Litera, Ripvor, Amphy, and Paper had all arrived, sitting around a temporary camp while they waited. Stalvick wandered around, waiting for the newest information they had received. A X-Naut scientist came up to him, and saluted.

“Sir,” he said, “It appears he had cleared out his database when the Galactic Federation evacuated him.”

”I figured so much…” said Stalvick, “Did the girl have any information?”

“No, sir, but we did find this.” The X-Naut handed Stalvick Evelyn’s communicator, “It seems to be a communication device set on a private channel. Most likely, it would lead us to Whirl.”

“Or lead him to us,” Stalvick said, “Prepare the prisoner for transport, we’re going to meet with Whirl, personally.”

The X-Naut nodded, and walked off. Stalvick moved slowly toward the lab, communicator in hand. He pressed the on-button, and said only this.

“We have your girl. Come to your lab, alone, or we cannot assure her safety. Bring with you any information on the location of the chaos emeralds.”

Stalvick put the communicator down just as the transmission was sent, and switched it off. Whirl would be here, he had to. Now all he had to do was wait…
