SUPER PART! Also the final "real" part. A lot of crap goes on here By the way, there are some links in the text. Those are just references for those who aren't as well educated in Top's story. And another that no one knows, and because I suck at describing things. And Top, I never said he wouldn't appear. ![]() Chapter 7-5: Only in Death UNIDENTIFIED LAB- UNDER ALINOS CRUST Doctor Albert stumbled through the halls of the underground lab. The blasts from above shook the tunnels, and the sound of explosions and gunfire echoed ever this deep in the base. They were losing, and Ultra Stuffwell would have his head if he didn’t do something… Doctor Albert came across a massive sealed chamber with a red slash mark painted on its door. He moved over to the panel, and uplinked himself in. He was one of the few who knew about this project, which rivaled even the central project locked within the central citadel. It was not to be activated until the Metal Revolution was on the brink of destruction, and the biotics had turned the tide. However, he needed it now. He pulled out his uplink cord, and the data screen accepted his data code. The door opened, rumbling as the blast seals deactivated, and the inner sanctum opened. He could not let the emerald be taken. Under no circumstance could this project, which he was built specifically for, fall. Too much had been sacrificed. He stared into the small containment cell in the center of the room. In it, was a metal form, a strange mecha shape un-uniform with the rest of the Metal Army. Doctor Albert pressed a button on the containment cell, and it opened. Gas began to pour out, bringing the thing contained within it out into the world. MIGHT OF GRODUS – ORBIT OVER CENTRAL CITADEL Grodus stared out on the massive base below him. His men had done well; they were now in the final approach. Everything was falling into place, and now he had the upper hand. Soon, oh so soon, that damnable emerald would be his. Grodus activated the communicator on his head pedestal, and opened a com-link to all of his conscripts. “It is now time for the final phase of this operation,” Grodus said, “If we are to claim the emerald, we will need to take the citadel in the center of the Metal Army base. You all will need to clear a path to the center, and hold against all opposition. Good luck, I will join you when you secure the entrance.” Grodus deactivated the link, then turned to a X-Naut near him, and nodded. He had been waiting for this moment for a long time, and nothing would stop him now. METAL ARMY CENTRAL BASE – RIPVOR AND TEEN ANGST’S FRONT Teen Angst and Ripvor ran with a large group of X-Nauts into the main city. The streets were torn up, craters were everywhere, and explosions rocked the factories and hubs all over the base. Even in all this, a large force of Zakus and Gelgoog Elites had found cover in the streets, and were firing back on the X-Nauts. From above, a single shot felled a X-Naut next to Ripvor. Then, one bounced off the ground next to Teen Angst. “Like, sniper!” yelled Teen Angst. “I know!” Ripvor said, jumping up and vanishing. The Gouf Ranger was sitting in the window of a shut down factory, behind a wall of scrap metal left from an explosion. He just had a X-Naut in his sight, when his scope went completely black. Ripvor appeared in front of him, and before even his robotic senses could react, Ripvor rammed his claws into his chest, causing a flurry of sparks and circuitry. Before he could even fall on the ground, Ripvor picked up his sniper rifle, and aimed it at a nearby Ranger. With deadly accuracy, he fired, blasting its eye socket inwards and felling it. Around the corner, another Ranger targeted Ripvor. He locked onto him in the scope, and knew he didn’t see him. This would be a good kill- ”Like, HELLO!” something yelled behind it, startling it. The Gouf, in response, was knocked forward, out of the window, and onto the pavement below. Teen Angst stood in the window, waving at its corpse. “We’re done here,” said Ripvor, “Let’s get moving.” METAL ARMY UNDERGROUND LAB – UNDERNEATH BATTLEFIELD Doctor Albert walked into a small bunker-like room, filled with different AI-reconfiguration chips, one of the few sources of pleasure the Metal Revolutionaries were allowed. He sat down, overwhelmed by the situation. Why here? Why now? When they were so close… “There you are, Doctor,” said a distorted voice behind him. Doctor Albert turned to see the biotic, human face of Litera, staring at him. He wore the exact same garb he bore the day he vanished after killing Stalvick. His voice, once clear and precise, now seemed to have a metallic echo to it. “Did you bring him online?” Litera inquired. ” NMAR-000 is undergoing all pre-activation updates and AI configurations,” Doctor Albert said, his robotic eyes narrowing at Litera, “This is all your fault, you know. You failed at destroying the AI Disruptor, you should have lead the X-Nauts away from this base. Now, they’re at our doorstep! Have you forgotten that is was us that revived you on the moon of Star World-“ ”Yes, yes, I know.” Litera mocked, “’When I was beaten and destroyed, you chose me over the others who lay near death.’ You have told me before. And remember, Doctor, we have not failed yet. We can still drive them back from the Citadel of Ultima.” METAL ARMY CENTRAL BASE - CHRISTOPHER AND AMPHY’S POSITION The entire eastern section of the base was under fire. Christopher and Amphy both ducked down, under the cover of some debris, to avoid being hit by the shrapnel from the exploding bombs, dropped by the X-Naut bombers. ”They could be a little more careful, now couldn’t they?” Amphy yelled to Christopher, his voice nearly drowned out. Next to them, forces of X-Nauts were pressing forward. A massive crater in the center divided a group of Metal Army and the X-Naut forces, neither gaining any ground over the other, each firing back in vain. “We gotta get over that gap somehow!” yelled Amphy. ”I have a plan!” said Christopher, “Remember back on Fahr Outpost? Double Volt Tackle! They can’t stop us!” ”Didn’t we almost get killed in that?” shouted Amphy, an explosion nearly hitting their position. “Details, details,” muttered Christopher, “Come on! Let’s do this!” Christopher grabbed Amphy’s hands, and both of them began to spark. Eventually, the two formed into a massive blue ball of electrical energy, which levitated above the ground. Then, it shot off at a near sonic speed straight up in the air. “Wrong way! WRONG WAY!” Amphy shouted. ”I know, I KNOW!” Christopher yelled, as they blasted down over the crater. Sparks flew all over as they passed over the heads of the Metal Army forces, who, even with quick AI reflexes, could not respond to their entrance in time. “Turn! We gotta get to the pyramid!” Amphy shouted. ”I’m going there! SHUT UP!” The double volt tackle made a sharp turn, then, rammed through the walls of a factory, collapsing it as it came out the other side, more spastic in its movement. The ball crashed into the ground, upturning a mass of earth as it impacted the ground, and hurdling Christopher and Amphy forward. When Amphy opened his eyes, he saw the massive black pyramid overlooking him. METAL ARMY CENTRAL BASE - ELI AND PAPER’S POSITION The area next to Eli and Paper had the heaviest Metal Force concentration, and thus the X-Nauts bombed it the heaviest. There was almost no factory that wasn’t lit ablaze, and the landscape was broken with craters. Eli and Paper ran under the flurry of dust and debris, going under the cover of several ruined factories to make their way closer to the center. They eventually came on the main plaza, which was a warzone. Two Dom Brutes and three Daleks held the area. “No way around it,” said Paper, “We’re going to have to clear this place out.” “Just my style,” Eli said, rising from the cover of the ruins to run at the pack of defenders. One of the Dom Brutes fired its minigun at Eli, but he nimbly jumped, grabbing its arm, and climbing up on its neck. He then took a pair of wire cutters, and reached for a slightly exposed circuit cord on the neck. ”Say goodnight, maggot,” Eli shouted as he cut the cord, causing the Dom Brute to collapse. Paper, next to him used his rifle to blow off the stalks of two of the Daleks. The third one, try as he may, defected his shots with its shield of energy. Eli jumped down on it, a small electric battery-like device in his hand, and rammed it against the invisible shield. The shield sparked, and began to overload the Dalek’s energy processors, causing it to explode. The last Dom Brute fell back to a group of Zakus that came to reinforce it. Paper armed his rifle, and trained it on the center of the group. He pressed a button on his scope, and a voice came on his com-link. “Rodger, Conscript 4, we have your tracking beacon. Commencing warming of the TZ.” Then, a Marauder bomber, similar to the one used against Garzon, streamed down in a strafing run, hitting the Dom Brute’s group with a bombardment of missiles. The group scattered, being blasted into scrap parts. There was not even a trace of the central Dom Brute left. “Come on!” shouted Paper, “We have to move! The Citadel is just ahead!” THE CITADEL OF ULTIMA – ENTRANCE Amphy and Christopher managed to slump toward the entrance, when the ground next to them exploded with shots. The Metal Army were entrenched outside the Citadel. Gun emplacements and several Steel Legion units bearing the rank of champion stood guard. Oddly enough, there was no sign of Metal activity inside the citadel. From the south, a blur came in. Ripvor appeared in front of one of the turrets, carrying Teen Angst. Ripvor slashed the turret down with his tail, but was shot back when a champion Gelgoog Elite fired a high-speed missile at him. Ripvor and Teen Angst were flown backwards. Christopher and Amphy immediately got up, and charged inward. Christopher first shot a thunderbolt at one of Gelgoog Champion that shot Ripvor, knocking him back, but not harming him too badly. Amphy targeted a turret, blasting it away with a small fireball. Then, an X-Naut bomber streamed in from the west, destroying a group of turrets followed by a massive fireball that blasted away a Dom Brute Champion. Eli and Paper ran in, both firing at what they could. “Ok, like, this is getting annoying!” Teen Angst shouted, raising her cellphone, “I’m actually, like, going to do something!” Then, Teen Angst’s phone emitted a powerful sonic note, which blasted away several turrets, and destroying several Champions. Teen Angst was then blasted back by turret fire, and tumbled down the citadel entrance’s stairs. Eli dodged a slash by a Gelgoog Elite Champion, and tried to hit him with a earth blast, only succeeding at knocking him a tad further back. The Elite then tackled Eli, the two wrestling for control of the Elite’s bladed arm. Paper attempted to order another airstrike with his scope, but a Gouf Ranger Champion, shattering the scope and breaking the gun, then hitting his gun. With no weapon, Paper could only fall back Christopher then tackled a Zaku Champion, electrifying himself, though the Zaku pushed him off. Amphy followed close behind, hitting another Zaku Champion with a fireball, which only managed to knock him back. Try as the Conscripts may, they weren’t getting very far. “Not after we’ve come so far…” Paper muttered from behind his cover. Then, he noticed the massive shadows looming overhead. Several X-Naut transports had come down next to the citadel, larger than standard troop carriers. With most of the turrets either preoccupied or disabled, nothing stopped the transports as they opened up, and massive Magnus von Grapple mechs stormed out, their guns flaring. Then, a golden mech larger than any of the other Magnus von Grapples stormed out of one of the ornate transports. It was the same design of the others, but contained a much more streamlined shape and more armaments. On it’s side, the plate read “The Magnus Tyrant.” And at its head, was Grodus. Grodus swung the Tyrant’s two miniguns at the Gelgoog Elite on Eli, blowing him off, then swung around to destroy several of the turrets. From its shoulders, missiles fired at the supporting Gouf Ranger Champions, knocking them aside with precision and force. The other Magnus von Grapples had a similarly easy time controlling the area, overwhelming the champions with sheer numbers. The Conscripts managed to get up, and watch as the last Champion was crushed under the foot of Grodus’s mech. “You all have done well,” said Grodus, “I thank you. Now, it is time for us to claim this “citadel” for the secret society. All around them, transports landed, and scientists, ground forces, and small von Grapples moved into the entrance. CITADEL OF ULTIMA – INNER SANCTUM The entire base was deserted of Metal Army troops. Odd, Grodus thought, since they defended it so valiantly. Yet, nothing was inside. The walls were lined with computer hardware and wiring, and multiple passages lead for miles underground, according to some recon team’s estimates. But what concerned him was what was ahead of him, a massive computer terminal that outsized any computer he had ever seen. “The emerald?” Grodus asked a nearby X-Naut scientist. “Sir… It’s nothing like we’ve ever seen. The emerald is here, but it’s being used to power something greater. Something massive.” ”What is it? Out with it!” Grodus inquired further. “Sir,” said another X-Naut, “The emerald’s power is being derived through a massive computer network. This entire complex is one giant computer, an AI like nothing we’ve ever seen. It must be the ultimate intelligence…” ”How did they mask the emerald’s signature so well, then?” Grodus asked. ”The power of the seventh emerald was focused through miles of this complex. The energy was evenly split through the entire complex. It is no wonder we couldn’t find it, the energy signature was diluted so much, and only a device that has directly read the signature of that specific emerald could even detect it.” “So… This AI. What about it?” Grodus stood, awestruck at the new developments. “We’ve only a little time on it,” one of the scientists began again, “But we do know this entire complex was supposed to control the tactical movements of the Metal Army. The central, incomplete AI seems to take after Metal Sneezier himself. Something interesting, is the fact that it can assume control of large bodies of mass produced Metal Army soldiers, even if it’s AI core is deactivated.” “You mean with this, we can control the Metal Army?” Grodus’s interest perked. “We don’t know. We can assume that the range is limited, and the inhibitors that prevented us from detecting it prevent us from using it on a long range… But theoretically, yes. If we had a core AI to replace the unfinished copy of Metal Sneezier.” ”Oh, do not worry…” said Grodus, “I have an idea of my own.” “Sir Grodus!” shouted an X-Naut soldier, “We have detected a Metal Army force outside the citadel! They have not attacked, but are amassing in great number.” ”I shall meet this myself,” Grodus said, walking out in his massive Tyrant suit. BASE OF THE CITADEL OF ULTIMA – SEVERAL MINUTES LATER The Conscripts stood, with a small force of X-Nauts and Magnus von Grapples, barring the Metal Army’s advance to the citadel. Neither side moved, or even fired a shot. Both simply stared each other down, each in perfect lines. Grodus ignited the boosters on the back of his Tyrant suit, and flew over to the front of his line. The Steel Legion forces were all champion ranked, Doctor Albert standing to their side. He looked straight at the X-Naut forces, appalled that they had made it this far. Then, from behind the group, Litera strode forward. “Excuse me, Sir Grodus,” said Litera, serious, despite his ironic use of Grodus’s rank, “But I’d like to introduce someone to you.” Litera’s last words were metallic, and suddenly, his body turned pitch black. Then, the blackness dissolved, much like one shed off cloths, and Litera’s true form was revealed. It was the cosmic version of Subsourian, yet different. His organic body was the same offcolor shade of blue, while he seemed to have a more psychical and organic form that most cosmic forms. Yet, half of his face was robotic, as was most of his body. His entire chest, both his legs, and one of his arms were mechanically augmented as well. “Litera!” shouted Grodus, “You son of a bitch, what is the meaning of this?” “Sir Grodus,” said a menacing, almost demonic metal voice from behind Litera, “I’ve heard a lot about you.” Then, a large, white mech that stepped in front of the Metal Army force. His main body was black, while the robe-like armor he wore was a white as snow. His head had a purple trail that seemed to be resemble a stream of hair. Both of his arms seemed to be attached only by magnetism, and were massive, with large, protective braces. “Who the…” Grodus muttered, caught off guard, “What the hell are you?” “I am Omega,” said the mech, “Heir to the Metal Army, after the puppet Metal Lord has fallen, and my master has made the sacrifice. The Metal Forces you have killed here, and the Citadel you have just taken, are mine. As is our mutual friend, Colonel Litera. You see, Sir Grodus, there are a number of us who feel that your involvement here causes certain… Complications. My associates and I intend to make sure that your reign is short lived.” “You may find that difficult you abomination,” Grodus retorted, “Seeing as how I possess the means to disrupt your control of the Metal Army.” “Ah, you’re referring to your vaunted AI Disruptor,” said Omega, “It won’t last you forever, Grodus. Sooner or later, I’ll destroy it. Then I’ll show you what the Metal Army is really capable of.” Then, Omega nodded at Litera, who began to chant a spell. Behind him, a massive dark portal formed. Doctor Albert and Litera were first through, as well as several champions. Before leaving, Omega turned back. ”Oh, and by the way, Sir Grodus, your friend Stalvick was twice the man you were.” Omega chuckled, “I’m glad you saved me the trouble of having to kill him.” Omega stepped through, and the portal closed. Then, the rest of the X-Nauts fired the few Metal Forces left down upon. Eli blasted a large shockwave at the scattering forces, while Christopher and Amphy delivered thunderbolts. Ripvor even got into close combat, gouging and slicing as he went. Teen Angst and Paper, now disarmed, could only watch as the last Metal Army resistance was slaughtered. Grodus turned back to the Citadel of Ultima midst the fighting, and the compartment on his Tyrant mech opened up. Grodus now had a body very similar to his old one, only now with deep purple regal robes. The design was by Paper and Eli, a project he commissioned them for. “That fool Omega… He thinks he can stop me now. The entire universe thinks that, apparently. They think we are beaten, just because we have failed to achieve the illusion of ultimate power. But in the search for that power, we have found another, far greater!” Grodus walked up the stairs of the Citadel of Ultima, and moved through the open door. The X-Nauts guards and tech crews were all scattered about, doing research on the AI and all of its different assets. “For even in the ashes of defeat, we have been able to achieve victory. Not only is the seventh emerald now in our grasp, but the ultimate weapon of the Metal Army is now in our use. We have had much sacrifice, and yet we are stronger for it. Let it be known, from this day forth, that the Secret Society of the X-Nauts has achieved triumph over the most powerful forces in the universe. Let it be known, that Lord Grodus, has risen once again!” TO BE CONCLUDED IN EPILOGUE: RISE OF THE X-NAUTS |

Never said who wouldn't appear? ...or should I read the part before asking that? I think Teen Angst's sonic... thingamajiggy is really only available for the FS, but then again, I've used Erishkigal for Sub before so eh, steve. Hey, I'm pretty sure Grodus' head is about the same size as Metal Sneezier. ;o Oh noes, Cosmic Sub! I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been on the moon after the comet was gone, though. Eh. I seem to recall when I used him, I made him like a randomer Dimentio, but of course, that was for lack of an actual personality. Anyway, INTERESTING ENDING! |

I actually thought about making a smash ball appear, but then I thought that would kill the feel. And Amphy and Christopher already used Volt Tackle. And Eli's final smash wouldn't quite work. And I dunno about Paper and Ripvor. ![]() And I really don't know how big Metal Sneezier is. Ask Sneezier. And Litera (I'M STILL CALLING HIM LITERA, ALTERNATE VERSIONS OF NAMES SUCK) was supposed to be serious, mainly because of the charade he was pulling. I dunno. I might not make him random, I haven't decided yet. And I'll work on the Epilogue and the Author's Notes later. |

Litera is hit with a scrambly beam which makes him randomized. Or something. I assume Metal Sneezier is the size of a Kirby. |

Hooray! Yeah it definitely needs an epilogue. It feels too much like the heroes didn't get to do a final accomplishment thing cause Grodus just did it for them. |

Yeah but Grodus isn't the HERO. In most of the parts he doesn't even personally show up. |
