The new Nissan 370Z has a lot to live up to. The famous Z-car lineup has produced many lightweight, Japanese sports coupes, going all the way back to 1969 when the first Z-car, the 240Z, was released. 40 years later, this car certainly keeps the Z-car spirit alive and well.

//Handling:
The 370Z handles beautifully. It just keeps gripping onto the road through the corners. Driving this thing through the Esses at Suzuka is extravagant. The front end has just above 50% of the total weight, giving the car a slight understeer feel; however, this doesn’t distract from the job of driving quickly. It actually helps you, I think. It keeps you planted onto the road so you don’t spin off into the wall.

//Speed:
With the rear-wheel drive setup that Nissan has stuck to with the Z-cars since the 240, the all-new 370 is faster than its rival, the BMW Z4 M, with a top speed of 175 miles an hour from its 3.7 liter naturally aspirated V6. However, it’s not as quick to get there as its other rival, the Porsche Cayman. The Cayman and 370Z both have pretty much the same top speed, but because the 370Z is a good bit heavier (about 300 pounds heavier) it doesn’t get to its top speed as quickly as the Cayman.

Overall, it is a great sports car. Definitely worthy of being in the Z-car lineup. This car is absolutley astounding. A must have, in my mind.
