Also referred to as "The Agency". The Organization is a pharmaceutical company, and a rival to Umbrella, shown to have an interest in Bio-Organic Weapons and access to highly advanced technology. Not much is known about the Organization's history and even its real name is unknown. They employ several spies to carry out espionage and recovery missions, the most prominent of which being Ada Wong. It first came to light following the deployment of Ada Wong as a mole within Umbrella, and the employment of Albert Wesker soon after. Since then, their involvement has increased and they are at the very least behind the scenes of many incidents. History Undercover Activites While initially one of Umbrella's more advanced rival companies, the Organization sent their most prominent agent to infiltrate one of Umbrella's primary research facilties: the Arklay Research Facility. The agent they sent was Ada Wong, who used her charm to enter into a relationship with the head researcher at the facility, Jon. Through her position in the facility, Ada began to leak information regarding Umbrella's B.O.W.s to the Organization. While there, she also learnt of the G-virus, a matter which she reported to her superiors. The information would later be followed up on in September 1998. Wesker's New Employer Before the Mansion Incident occured, Albert Wesker made arrangements with the Organization to provide them with combat data and embryos of Umbrella's numerous Bio-Organic Weapon's, such as the Hunter and Tyrant and defect into their ranks. However, with the interference of both the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members and Umbrella's own Sergei Vladimir, these plans were near-tarnished with the loss of the T-002. Despite this, Wesker succeeded in acquiring the combat data of the rest of Umbrella's B.O.W.'s such as the MA-121 Hunter Alpha, as-well as embryos of said weapons. With this data, the Organization was able to significantly refine the Hunter, producing the Hunter II and the Sweeper variant. Wesker himself joined hands with his new employer with a damaged reputation, and became an agent. Raccoon City As the Mansion Incident drew to a close, the Organization faded into the background once more before finally re-emerging in late September 1998, with the Raccoon City outbreak. With the information on the G-virus at hand from both Ada Wong and Albert Wesker, the Organization (and Wesker) planned to retrieve the virus from William Birkin himself. However, before such a plan could be enacted, Umbrella had dispatched a special forces unit to forcefully take the virus from Birkin. This failed, and the result led to the complete decimation of Raccoon City. During the chaos, not wasting any opportunities, operatives of the Organization were quickly put to work. Albert Wesker and Ada Wong were two such operatives, with Wesker commanding Ada from behind-the-scenes in an effort to retrieve the G-virus. Combat data from the countless B.O.W.'s in Raccoon City was recorded, including that of the Nemesis T-Type sent by Umbrella Europe to eliminate the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members. While Ada Wong initially failed her mission, she was successful in retrieving a G-virus tissue fragment of William Birkin, who had since become a G-Type creature. The Organization even managed to gain the combat data of the mutated Birkin, who they used as a test subject. With the aid of Wesker, Ada managed to escape from the town shortly before it's imminent destruction. The Raccoon City disaster, while a huge blow to Umbrella, was a resounding success for the Organization. Rockfort Island Following the catastrophe, the Organization learnt of the reawakening of Alexia Ashford through a spy planted on Rockfort Island by Wesker's private military unit, the Hive/Host Capture Force. With the knowledge that Alexia was the only viable source of a sample of the formely lost T-Veronica virus, the Organization's interest was piqued due to the virus' possible potential. With this information, the Organization hired Wesker to head the retrieval mission and capture Alexia, Wesker then commandered his unit and was dispatched. Commanded by Wesker who had his own ulterior motives for the T-Veronica virus, the unit led a full-scale assault on Rockfort Island, eliminating the security forces and accidentally spreading the T-virus. While a carrier of T-Veronica was encountered, its creator Alexia Ashford was actually in the Umbrella Antarctic Base. Albert Wesker and his men immediately left Rockfort and soon arrived at the facility. However, after an unsuccessful attempt to capture Alexia, their plans were once again foiled by surviving S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield, who had destroyed Alexia's mutated form. Despite this, Alexia's refined strain of the T-Veronica virus was extracted from the corpse of Steve Burnside, deeming the mission a resounding success for the Organization. They later applied T-Veronica to their B.O.W. research and development, producing most notably the Jabberwock S3. From a file recovered by the National Security Agency following the incident, it is apparent that Umbrella was well aware of the existence of the Organization and their involvement with the incident, with them being cryptically referred to as "our enemy". Umbrella's End In February 2003, spies of the Organization in a village close to Umbrella's last remaining facility in the Caucasus region of Russia managed to notify the company of the existence of a secret Umbrella "hangar" located at the site to store B.O.W.s, viral agents and anti-bodies. However, Albert Wesker alone decided that with Umbrella on it's last leg, now would be the perfect time to strike it. After failing to capture the contents of the "hangar", Wesker managed to retrieve the schematics for the Umbrella Caucasus Research Facility, Umbrella's last remaining facility. Wesker launched a one-man raid on the facility, eliminating Sergei Vladimir and stealing all of Umbrella's data and company assets stored on the U.M.F.-013.. The Organization however, saw none of this. Behind their back, Wesker supplied another rival organization, Tricell with the information and technology required to establish their own bioweapons division. With Umbrella's demise, the Organization's biggest rival was removed, and they become the de facto supplier of B.O.W.s. However, due to Wesker's affiliation with Tricell in 2003, they once again had another rival to contend with. The Organization continued to observe the actions of both Wesker and Tricell. At some point, the Organization began to extensively study Jack Krauser, a former U.S. SOCOM member who had approached Albert Wesker in the pursuit of power. Las Plagas Sometime in 2004, the Organization managed to intercept an e-mail from Los Illuminados researcher Luis Sera to a now deceased friend, begging to be taken into custody. Through this, the existence and potential of the ancient parasitic organism Las Plagas was discovered. Albert Wesker commanded Ada Wong into retrieving samples of the parasite, much to the delight of the Organization, to whom Ada's real loyalties lay. The Organization had previously managed to obtain a tissue sample of the Plagas, and their goals in the matter according to Ada were to confirm or disprove theories concerning how the parasites were controlled. Ada was ordered to send Wesker the Plaga samples, but to replace the Control Plaga with a modified Subordinate Plaga, devoid of any ability to control other Plaga. In the end, the Control Plaga was given to the Organization, who are now the only group to have a sample of a purebred Control Plaga. |
