Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.'s) are the main focus of Umbrella's weapon development sector and encompass all organisms specifically engineered as weapons. The advent of these bio-weapons was due to the discovery of the Progenitor virus and its subsequent refinements which allowed Umbrella personnel to mutate otherwise harmless creatures into efficient weapons. This quickly became the focus of the company as a whole and led to a lucrative business on the black market.

Secondary infectants are creatures which were not directly targeted for mutation as a weapon but succumbed to the effects of a viral agent regardless. The main difference between a B.O.W. and a secondary infectant is that a B.O.W. is specifically engineered although it has been observed that random mutations in nature can be just as devastating although seldom useful as a weapon since they are uncontrollable.

Las Plagas infectants are organisms directly contaminated by the Las Plagas parasite. The effects of the parasite vary widely between organisms and even within the same species for unknown reasons.

Thousands of years old, Las Plagas was a parasitic species unearthed by a religious group known as Los Illuminados who later worshipped it as part of their cult. It is capable of controlling a host much like any other parasite.Developed by Umbrella Europe as part of the "Nemesis Project", the NE-alpha parasite was capable of consuming the brain of a host and controlling it from within. Research on NE-alpha led to the creation of the Nemesis T-Type.

Tricell, Inc., also having gone under the alias "S", was a pharmaceutical enterprise, prominent in the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium. It was a conglomerate of three organizations descended from Travis Trading. Its name was derived from the triumvirate of "cells" that formed it. A large grown company founded by Excella Gionne, the head partner to Oswell E. Spencer.

The Umbrella Corporation (officially named Umbrella Chemical Inc.) was a mega corporation which operated ruthlessly as a major international player in a number of markets including pharmaceuticals, medical hardware, defense, and computers along with more clandestine operations utilizing genetic engineering and biological weaponry. The company also. had a more public face, producing cosmetics, consumer products and foods

WilPharma was a pharmaceutical enterprise, responsible for the creation of the T-Vaccine. WilPharma was to the city of Harvardville what Umbrella was to Raccoon City, being responsible for a vast majority of the city's economic growth and prosperity. Following the Raccoon City Incident, the public's faith in the pharmaceutical industry descended rapidly. WilPharma also suffered from the backlash. At some point following the crisis, the US government allocated 10 billion dollars for a secretive anti bio-terror program to be administered exclusively by WilPharma - the creation of a vaccine for the dreaded T-virus. By October 2005, WilPharma succeeded in developing the vaccine, with stocks ready to be shipped to anywhere within the US. However, due to stern protest from the human rights organization TerraSave, the vaccine was not ready to be fully distributed in time before the Harvardville incidents.

The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, or BSAA for short, is an organization formed in 2003 by the U.S. Government along with the United Nations Security Council and the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium to combat bio hazardous threats around the world that are well above normal dangers. This comes in large part to the B.O.W.s and viral weaponry that had been developed by the former Umbrella Corporation being sold on the black market to the highest bidder. It has advanced technology and a wide variety of skilled personnel assigned to their duties. It also has a network of Branches across the world, ready to deploy on the first sign of a biohazard.

The Special Tactics and Rescue Service, as Well as Racoon City Police Department, and the Other Organizations found in Resident Evil.

The Global Pharmaceutical Consortium of which Umbrella and Tricell were prominent members was comprised of the world's leading pharmaceutical corporations. It's exact details are unknown, but it is most prominent for being dragged into the aftermath of the Raccoon City incident, due to Umbrella's usage of medical methods devised by other members of the consortium. In order to regain public trust and avoid sufferring the same fate as Umbrella itself, the consortium supplied evidence for the prosecution in Umbrella's case within the Supreme Court.

Also referred to as "The Agency". The Organization is a pharmaceutical company, and a rival to Umbrella, shown to have an interest in Bio-Organic Weapons and access to highly advanced technology. Not much is known about the Organization's history and even its real name is unknown. They employ several spies to carry out espionage and recovery missions, the most prominent of which being Ada Wong. It first came to light following the deployment of Ada Wong as a mole within Umbrella, and the employment of Albert Wesker soon after. Since then, their involvement has increased and they are at the very least behind the scenes of many incidents.

The Arklay Research Facility was the first of many clandestine biological weapon research laboratories to be established by Umbrella. The facility was hidden beneath a mansion built in the forests of the Arklay Mountains on the outskirts of Raccoon City.

Also known as the Umbrella Research Center. The Umbrella Management Training Facility was built along with the Ecliptic Express rail system and the Arklay Research Facility within the Arklay Mountains and was completed in August 1968. It's purpose was to train future officers, executives and researchers of Umbrella, who would be the future of the company. The facility's first General Manager was James Marcus, one of the co-founders of Umbrella.

Raccoon City was an urban community located in the American mid-west. At its peak, it had a population of over one hundred thousand. While existing as a town initially, it was thanks to the many donations by Umbrella that Raccoon prospered into a full fledged city in the late 20th century. Following the T-virus outbreak that afflicted the city in September 1998, the entire community was destroyed by an experimental nuclear weapon by the United States government, as part of Mission Code: XX

Originally a Russian chemical plant before being bought outright by Ozwell E. Spencer. The facility would serve as a guise for Umbrella's last remaining full-scale laboratory, which was later built deep underground in 1998. The experiments and B.O.W.s produced here would later be sold to rogue states and terrorists, anyone willing to buy Umbrella's bio-weaponry following the Raccoon City incident.

Rockfort Island was an offshore facility, a private island base owned by Umbrella located in the Southern Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Chile in the Roggeveen Basin. Officially, the island operated as a paramilitary training facility and prison complex.

Sheena Island was a small European island that Umbrella had managed to outright buy due to the company's abundant funds and extensive influence. Due to this, Sheena was essentially the model city of Umbrella, with almost every man and woman being an employee of Umbrella in some shape or form. The island itself was of dire importance to Umbrella.

Benthic Island is an unofficial name given to the offshore facility owned and operated by Umbrella where its Waste Disposal Facility was built. The island itself is situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, and was used primarily to dispose of failed B.O.W. experiments sent from other facilities.

Named after one of the founders of Umbrella, Ozwell E. Spencer, the Spencer Rain was a vast and top of the range cruise liner that to the outside world was nothing more than a standard ship. Operated by Umbrella Europe, the Spencer Rain was forced into more of a commercial setting after the Raccoon City disaster.

The Umbrella Africa Research Facility was the center of Umbrella Africa, constructed in the immediate area surrounding the "Sun Garden", the cradle of the Sonnentreppe (Stairway to the Sun) flower, which housed the Progenitor virus. Initially constructed without many facilities, the director of the facility, Brandon Bailey, requested an expansion of the facility to accomodate research into Progenitor. These facilities were finally completed on June 15th 1969.

Following the initiation of the Uroboros Project, Tricell set out to search for the long-abandoned Umbrella Africa Research Facility. Following the eventual uncovering of the facility, Tricell expanded upon it by digging deeper and deeper into the Ndipaya Ruins behind it, constructing a state-of-the-art facility to house thousands of Uroboros test subjects. Spanning countless underground floors, the entrance elevator was guarded by a U-8 specimen. In order to process the Uroboros test subjects, an expansive conveyor belt and incineration system was constructed.

The Kijuju Autonomous Zone is a small region in western Africa. A recent coup has resulted in a new government taking hold, turning Kijuju into a hotbed of black market sales and a haven for terrorists. Armed guards patrol many of its streets and remote cities remain ignored by the provincial government for long periods of time.
