What is Republica? Created January fourth, 2008, Republica was originally intended as a discussion forum for Latin and Classics aficionados. As can be well imagined, that idea never really took off: partly due to a lack of advertising; partly to a small party of interest. And so, on March twentieth of that same year, the admins decided to convert it to a roleplay forum, which is what you see today. The only visible remnant of the board's original purpose to remain is its name: "Republica." It's hard to say why this was kept . . . perhaps because that is what we envision this community to be: a republic. Keeping pace with the name, Republica does not have any single defining plot or storyline that its roleplays all must follow. Rather, they are limited only to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of its members (and its PG-13 rules, of course). Our mission stands to provide a diverse and colourful environment for advanced and dramatic roleplayers of all interest groups. We strive to do our best to refrain from censoring threads and ideas, simply because of ideologically sensitive material, and rather encourage this kind of eccentric thinking; pushing the boundaries of what is considered "normal" or safe. Who's Running the Show? So now, who all is running this? Some crazy, emphatic little man behind a curtain? Dwarves, tucked away in their cavernous lairs? Actually, it was started up by a couple of teens from northern Ohio. Such a pity--I was leaning towards the dwarves, myself.

One Christopher Wetherill by name, I am sixteen years old at present (born early on in '92) and actually just got back into roleplaying. And yes, zomg, I gave you my last name--it's in about half a dozen threads' copyright notices if you haven't seen it already. I first started back late in 2004 on a site called Maelstrom's Guardian. Looking back though, I'm not entirely sure that you could call what we did "roleplaying." Whatever it was, it certainly wasn't very pretty. So, that continued through 2005 and capped off in early '06, where I rather lost interest and began to pursue other goals.
