"Drinking?" She exclaimed, wagging her finger in front of his face like a mother scolding a child. "You shouldn't be getting drunk, what if you need to react quickly with an assassin routine? Have fun leaping over rooftops drunk!" She laughed aloud, only joking around with him. Surely he was wise enough to know that he shouldn't get too drunk, or risk being struck dead... at least she hoped he was that wise. If not it was a wonder he was still alive considering his line of work.

"Here and there, and everywhere in between. It's been a long ten years... since things were last normal." Her light voice drifted away, falling into silence. All of a sudden she snapped back to life, aiming to wrap her arm around Liber's. "Come on, I kept you from your drink- let me buy you one."

The group acted like they knew each other, even the one pretending not to be listening close by. He did admit that they had the look of a friend you vaguely remember but aren't sure really existed, but that wasn't enough for him to stop his limping walk towards the pub for a little self medication. "Probably gonna' storm later then...doesn't usually hurt this bad otherwise." He rubbed his thigh a little as he muttered this to himself.

That crazy cat lady . . . man

"Ah, come on, you know I can put a few away before getting tipsy. Or have I started drinking only recently. . . . But what am I saying?" Liber roared, "I can't have a lady guest buy me my drink, where are my manners?" Throwing his arm round her shoulders, he began back for the tavern, sobered by the eccentric visage of their eavesdropper. Something of him rang familiar . . . but where had he seen him before? Was he from the Scian before the Fall--there was certainly an air about him that Liber recognised.

"So, did you see that rather flamboyantly dressed man back a ways? Something about him I remember. . . . Did he catch your eye as well?" Liber asked, voicing his worries. "You've got to imagine that someone that gay would have stuck out in my mind."

((dear god! He's turning into Ben!!! --Matt))

She gave him a death glare of sorts. Chivalrous swine.... but then again she didn't actually have any of her own money, offering to buy him a drink had been only polite of her. Due to the lack of coinage on her person, she didn't bother to verbally scold him for his knightish actions... not that it'd matter. He'd probably just reject what she said, and they'd go round and round until one of them yielded. Which, honestly, probably would of been Lucy anyways- she was just speeding things up a bit, and getting a free drink out of the deal... not bad for a day's work.

Now, she'd never been a skilled, or even good, assassin. She didn't notice things around her that were strange, she didn't have that sixth sense that something was going to happen, that she should duck, or whatever strange urges some assassins got. However, she did notice the brightly dressed man- both from the roof and again as they walked along the street. It was hard not to notice him. "I did see him... however he didn't stick out in my mind. I don't make a habit of memorizing gay, or possibly gay, guys... they don't have much use for me!" She giggled a bit. Thank god Liber was around... or else she'd be walking right past these ex-Scian members without a second glance.

( I love my Ben <3 I'm dying to RP him again, I've figured a great plot-starter should we ever bother with them again xD It's pure evil. )

Dr. Jekyll... or Mr. Hyde?

Having good ears, Vinar heard the whole "gay" conversation, and debated about whether or not to correct them, yell at them, tell them who he is, or ignore them. He decided to follow them, though he realized his apparel wasn't the easiest to sneak in. Back to the old days then. He thought to himself. He slipped into a house, first checking that it was empty, and took off his flashy garb. Underneath, he sported simple, understated clothes that made him blend in with a crowd. Last but not least, he removed his hat and shoes, reluctantly, I might add. He was ready to sneak again. He headed to the bar and grabbed a table near them, and ordered a drink. Not to drink, no, Scian had tought him that, but to appear normal. He tuned into their conversation.

(Evil is good, actually evil is my forte.)

There was something about this whole situation that stuck Nex as decidedly odd. He rememberd quite a bit about the old days of the Scian, and the woman bore a striking resemblance to one of the younger members. He'd only seen here in passing but from what he rememberd she was just a pup when she joined. Tossing the thought around in his head for a moment he shrugged, returning to reality from the trip down memory lane to find the flamboyantly dressed man absent from the picture. He made not of this absence as he headed for the bar, just another old man (despite his only being 37) going to get a drink.

"Oh, thank you," Liber said, accepting his drink from a passing waitress. Silently, he swilled the brew around in his cup, making no move to drink it. Such a façade he had entombed himself in; nothing more than a saturnalian drunk. After a few moments, he began slowly, deliberately, "We were so . . . young back then. We weren't prepared when they came for us. . . ." He pushed aside his drink, surveying the tavern.

Lowering his voice, he turned back to Lucy, "Have you noticed? There are seven people in this tavern to have yet to touch their drinks. Of those, four are close enough to hear our conversation and three have their backs turned to us. It was not chance that brought us two to this town, but the workings of Fortune. We should not believe that we are the only two drawn here." Raising his voice to a normal level, Liber laughed, "Enough of my worrying though! Tell me of yourself--it's been far too long a time since we have last seen another."

Vinar glanced at Liber, as soon as he had lowered his voice. He certainly hasn't lost his touch, he thought bitterly. Might as well say hello then... Vinar got up from his table and sat down at Liber and Lucy's, facing his two ex-workmates. "So, how's life been?"

((at this point, go ahead and remember him, but use some subtlety, please ;) ))

Nex was a table away from the two, his back to Liber, his drink sitting untouched infront of him. When Liber lowered his voice Nex almost smiled, the corners of his lips turning upward in the smallest of smiles. They are well trained, or at least they act like they are...One must wonder how many actually escaped. His thoughts were interrupted by a third person joining the two at the table, something he had no expected.

Lucy sipped at her drink in a very womanish way- just small sips, taken more often but paced evenly apart that gave a nice beat to things. Liber's words clearly interested her, and she looked around herself to notice what he said was true. I really do suck as much as I think I do. She told herself while forcing a smile on her face. "Something larger then both of us is happening then... for so many like us to be drawn together- assuming that you're not just being paranoid." She gave him a playfull wink. Her next plan was to answer him, but she'd noticed Vinar coming towards them, and she turned her attention to him.

"Getting better by the second, have a drink and join in our conversation." She openly invited him, taking a rather large gulp of her own drink, very unwomanlike of her. It was rather unclear if she actually was beginning to recall his face in her memory, or if she was just being polite. The later might be a better guess- this was Lucy after all, not completely stupid but completely naive. She quickly turned to face Liber again to reply to him. "There's not much worth telling, making my money how I could." She fiddled with the rather large ring on her finger, flipping open the tiny latch which covered up a small open space, enough open space to hold a deadly amount of strong poison.
