A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans.

In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament.

Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base.

These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games.

Ok i actually tried to be optimistic so far, but as more and more details are being released Im getting fucking pissed. Star Wars without space-battles, are you kidding me EA?? I mean I could get over that in particular but this game appearently loses like 80% what I liked about swbf1&2...
And I dont even want to talk about this whole DLC and preoder bullcrap. But its EA, I really dont know what I expected

To be fair, it's just as the majority expected it and the trailer looks fine for me.
Even if you put your experiences and emotions from SWBF2 aside, it was obvious that the new Battlefront would be a complete new game. They didn't want to make it a Star Wars themed Battlefield, but that's just how a modern shooter game looks like. I believe some people still hope for a SWBF2 with better graphics and new maps, but SWBF2 was special and won't be exceeded from any other Star Wars game. As long as it's a decent/good game at all, it's the people playing it who make it a great game, because that's the reason we still play SWBF2 today.

no its the great game that makes the people play it xD

and if they wanted to make a new game, dont call it battlefront... thats an insult to the original developers and the fans

Good points: third person available; sky battles like in SWBF1; the fact that it exists; four maps may get us used to the maps. I'm fine with 40-player max, I suppose.

Bad points: no space battles (they weren't that good online in SWBF2, but they could've improved on it), only four maps (so far). No Coruscant, which could've been really open on PS4.

Hopefully there aren't any Bothan Spies.

Nah, there are 4 planets, each having 2+ locations (i.e. maps) according to their Twitter. Plus a 5th planet coming as free DLC shortly after. They also confirmed on Twitter that there are a variety of different sized maps, small and large.

I was quite pleased with the announcement. Third person view was the make or break point for me and I'm glad it's there. I only care about multiplayer land battles and it seems that they've put all the focus on that.

I stand corrected! Good news that they each have 2+ locations.

I will be pre-ordering to get Battle of Jakku early, yes.

People must not think that this will be like our beloved SWBF2: it will be more like a modern shooter,it will have fewer maps,DLCs and they even confirmed, that the AT-ATs cant be piloted.
They will be "on rails" and people will be able to use the cannons, but thats it.
And the fact they ALREADY announced this DLC with a 5th planet is hilarious: how many maps were in SWBf2 ?
18 ground maps,6 space maps and 9 maps exclusive to galactic conquest.

Not to mention the fact, that there is probably no clone wars era...which was my favorite one.

Think critically and dont let yourself get fooled by fancy pre-rendered trailers and good graphics.

Hmmm, well, iam really not impressed.i cannot imagine that swbf3 will be -the best star wars game ever. And i cannot imagine to play cms without conquest. Fortunately you will be able to play with the old perspective .My biggest wish has been to play realistic space battles but these nubs did not even follow this wish. But think positiv you will be able to choose the maps for cms quickly;) Damn i have waited for swbf3 for such many years to read such a crap.Obviously a waste of my nerves.
