| A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans. In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament. Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base. These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games. |

As the number of players on the PS2 version of SWBFII declines, more PS2 players are switching to the PC version. The PC version is still being distributed here in the US. I picked up a new copy off a clearance rack for $7 USD. I've also seen it in the Star Wars Fan Favorites bundle for about $20 USD. That includes SWBF1 and Republic Commandos. I like SWBF1 but don't really care for Republic Commandos, just doesn't have the Star Wars look and feel.![]() You can also download SWBFII from Steam for about $10 USD (reduced from $20). I know the Japanese PS2 players and a lot of the US players have switched, How many EU players have switched or are planning to do so? Edited by PyroJockey, Sep 16 2013, 05:47 PM.

I have the Steam version but I must admit I don't play much. It's a shame the PC community is split between v1 and v1.1. I have v1.1 whereas most the old EU PC players are on v1, but oh well. |

I am generally a console only gamer, so I voted for that. I do actually have SWBF2 PC, but I rarely played on it - I've played on Republic Commando on PC more. |

I'd play PC if I could ever get my PS3 controller working on it, but I can't besides, I have an xbox controller but it's annoying that the buttons don't map properly e.g. I can't roll diagonally and I can't have the same button for crouch and roll. So meh, doubt I'll ever play it much.

I played swb2 pc 1.0 pretty much in the past and wasn't that bad at it. Nevertheless, my heart beats for the ps2 version! In the last few weeks my laptop has been a piece of shit though, and I get really low fps on maps like Mos Eisley, so that's another reason why I stopped playing it much.

I play both but more a ps2 version so I won't vote I guess. swbf2 pc is very different to swbf2 ps2, nearly everything that is fun on ps2 version was ruined in pc version for me. |

I haven't found out why some players remain on v1.0 rather than get the free patch for v1.1. I've heard something about the Jedi powers are different. I don't care to play Jedi maps so I wouldn't know. I do have both versions. I bought a used v1.0 DVD on eBay. You can't tell by looking at the disk or packaging which version it is, I got lucky. The seller said he bought the disk when SWBFII was first released. Now that I have the BattlefrontII.exe for both versions I can swap the exe file out at will. I also have both versions of the dedicated server exe file for hosting. |

yeah it should be easy to get 1.0 and 1.1 battlefront2.exe online 1.0 is better because 1.1 has some major bugs (for me atleast) |

1.1 is a mass of players through the Steam Sale. Also, it's mostly US Servers which makes us Europeans lag a little (Not as extreme as on the PS2 version though). 1.1 also mostly has these huge 64 players, TD off and Jedi servers which scares off a lot of the 1.0 people who played the game pretty competitively in the past. |

david why can't you roll diagonally? xD about the roll and crouch in 1 button, try getting external button config program like xpadder and set O button to some keyboard key and then ingame set crouch to that keyboard, then u should have the same effect as on ps2 version but I didnt test this xD |

I'm not sure really. I think, but I can't remember for sure, that I can walk diagonally, but rolling only seems to respond if I press left, forward or right on the stick. Diagonally just doesn't seem to happen. Maybe I haven't mapped the buttons correctly, idk.
Hmm well I've tried before, I downloaded a few things following the guide for a PS3 controller here: http://kotaku.com/how-to-use-a-console-controller-on-your-pc-889800353 It didn't work, though Edited by David, Sep 18 2013, 03:25 PM.

I just bought this on Steam and it came - of course - as the 1.1 version. Only american servers as far as i can see, and they are laggy. Is there any way to downgrade the game to 1.0 version? |

There's a software called MotionInJoy, download it and load this driver: ''Port_#0003.Hub_#0004''. NOTE: only load that driver because it won't work otherwise. It's an easy program to config your ps3 controller to use it on your computer. Click here to download MotionInJoy After you configured all the settings it is time to open swbf2 and set the right button for each action your character should be doing. Options -> Controlls. Don't assign crouching, you will need to choose the ''o'' button for rolling. Just leave crouching for what it was.. that ability is not even neccesary I think.. quite useless! as for the sticks on your controller, you will need to put it in the direction which is mentioned first. example: ![]() the first mentioned direction must be executed on your ps3 controller, do this carefully as the controlls settings will register the axis of your joystick. |

Uffe, you just need BattlefrontII.exe from 1.0 version (there are I think 3 different versions of it though, I can send you mine and you can try if it works, if you want) |
