A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans.

In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament.

Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base.

These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games.

Random poll.

Are you:

A gnostic theist - somebody who is certain that there is a god?

An agnostic theist - somebody who believes in a god but isn't certain that there is one?

An agnostic atheist - somebody who lacks belief in a god but isn't certain that there isn't one?

A gnostic atheist - somebody who is certain that a god doesn't exist?

Personally, I'm an agnostic atheist and no, Michael, you're not a god so you don't count.

I'm an atheist, but I wouldn't say I'm an agnostic atheist. There's no evidence to suggest there is a god, so there's no reason for me to to be certain or uncertain. Obviously I can't disprove it, but if you make a claim, you should be the one presenting the evidence for it, I shouldn't have to present evidence against it. I'm sure you've heard the Tooth Fairy analogy, Viddy.

(oneeye) My bet is that Viddy is a little Tooth-Fairy-believing God-lover.

For each tank built in the world... 131k of Teddy bears are made
For each stock market that falls down... there are 10 versions of "What a wonderful world"
For each corrupt person... there are 8k donating blood
For each barrier that exists... there are 200k mats saying "Welcome"
While one scientific is making a new weapon... there are 100 million of mums making a chocolate cake
In the world, there's more monopoly money than dollards
There are more funny videos in the internet than bad news all over the world
LOVE has more results in google than FEAR
For each person that says "Everything is wrong..." 100 couples are looking for children
And for each weapon sold in the world... 20 million of people share a bottle of Coca-Cola
There are still reasons to believe in a better world.

I used to be a gnostic atheist, but over the years I have seen things and had things happen that the laws of probability exclude coincidence or that defy scientific explanation, so I guess that makes me a agnostic atheist. I'm less skeptical, more open minded but still lack the faith of a true believer.

Yes, I like the tooth fairy analogy, Russell's Teapot, and Hitchens' Razor (contained in my signature). Sometimes a certain version of the Problem of Evil gets me to gnostic atheism, but even then, I have to account for the possibility that god works in mysterious ways even if that's no rational explanation and would fail as a defence in court.

TPOE is only an issue for a God who claims to be omnibenevolent, omnipotent and omniscient, leaving many "God" possibilities.

True, but I'm one of those people who would prefer that deism separates itself from theism (I'd rather theism exclusively referred to a personal god). Even then, I suppose you could conceive of an evil god.

Gnostic Theist.
I dont go in church, pray regulary or spread my religion in any way. I dont very often even think about god, but for me it is a true fact he excists. It has become so obvious for me that he is real, that i don't even think about it anymore. So, i believe 100% he is real, but i dont really worship or pray to him in any way on a daily basis.
Somehow i don't require a more detailed explanation for life than "It's all god's work dude!".
For me god became a fact, even if I never had a very strong connection with him, yet atleast.
I certainly dont follow all the "rules" named in the bible.

(This is a quick reply with not too much thought behind it, it is complicated : ).

Agnostic Atheist. In my humble opinion, anyone who thinks that a book written by man is somehow representative of God's will and not influenced in any way by the selfish, controlling (alpha-male) tendencies innate to humanity, is simply not playing with a full deck. Also, how can one justify the selective nature of modern religion? I.e. the strict adherence to certain verses within the Bible or similar and the discarding of other, less socially acceptable, ones. Now, I appreciate that the above is all about religion and not about faith in the belief of a God, but one seldom comes without the other.

Re the second option, btw. I'd be interested in hearing the reasoning of those who answered "agnostic theism". How can one believe in a God but not be certain there is one? Surely this uncertainty indicates the absence (or reduction of) of faith. And don't you need faith to believe, in the absence of evidence to support it? Is it selective faith? Is this category simply for religious people who are doubting their religion?

As much as I doubt it, I think that there's a slight chance that a god of any sort may exist, just like there's a chance that there's a flying pink unicorn flapping around the sun. I'm not a gnostic a-flyingpinkunicornist and I'm not a gnostic atheist. It's nothing to do with not wanting to go to hell. In fact, the Pope has indicated that atheists can still go to heaven, differing from his predecessors' views. The funny thing is that they all claim to be infallible, yet contradict each other. Has God suddenly changed his mind about atheists now?

Ah, Vid, you've missed a trick. The Pope said that about atheists whilst he was in Argentina. A statement was released from the Vatican which essentially said that the Pope's words were misunderstood, and then gave a completely contradictory interpretation. He's only infallible when on duty!

Yes, they said that we couldn't be saved. He's said something along the lines of 'if atheists use their consciences, God will forgive them', in the past few days. The media are reporting two separate statements, it seems, one from May and the other from a few days ago. In any case, I hope he doesn't get assassinated by a more conservative Catholic

Oh yes, lots of times. John Paul II (Pope before the last one) almost died after being shot.
