A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans.

In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament.

Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base.

These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games.

Possible, though it wouldn't surprise me if they add the new stuff in later as some DLC to make more money.

They might be releasing tons of DLC's etc. for the new SWBF every time a new SW-movie gets released. I'm pretty sure the game will get huge support and new content over the years when all the movies come out.

Some stuff from Gamescon:

Quote:

“We haven’t really locked [the direction the game will take] down yet. People don’t want another Battlefield with Star Wars graphics; they want a Star Wars game that is proper… But then again, if you compromise brilliant design choices from Battlefield just because you’re not allowed from some kind of moral standpoint, then I think that’s also wrong. We need to make the best game possible. What that means in detail, we will see.”

“The most important thing for me is that we take the Star Wars license and come up with games where peoples’ jaw drop. We need to do with this what [Batman: Arkham Asylum] did for the Batman license.”

“It’s going to take a while. We just announced the license and showed a sneak peak of Hoth. The Speeder and the AT-AT will be in the [game] for sure.”

“We didn’t toss anything [from Free Radical's SWBF3] out. We’re looking at the old games. We have access to everything that was done during the LucasArts era. But we do want to take our own stance.”

Kinda interesting. At least, to some degree, they want to keep some of the old features.

That's good, at least they're trying to be balanced.

Everything depends on EAs moods during the development.

Looks like EA had gonorrhea during the development of Battlefield 4.

Release: To Be Announced

In 2004, the original Star Wars Battlefront came onto the scene and took gamers – and Star Wars fans – by surprise. It was an ambitious action shooter that gave players the opportunity to step into the shoes of their favorite Star Wars characters, pilot quintessential Star Wars vehicles, and relive classic Star Wars battles.

Fast forward nearly 10 years and gamers still have many of those same Star Wars gaming fantasies – but now they wish to experience those larger-than-life battles in magnificent high definition, with all of the amazing special effects, vehicle physics and gameplay intensity that the next-generation has to offer.

Star Wars Battlefront, developed by DICE on Frostbite 3, will surprise and delight fans yet again with a new experience inside this beloved universe made with our signature DICE craftsmanship and commitment to excellence.

Electronic Arts is proud to demonstrate the full force of the Frostbite 3 game engine within the Star Wars Battlefront universe. The future of next-generation gaming will take part in a galaxy far, far away. As for the game play? You'll find that we're full of surprises.
