| A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans. In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament. Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base. These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games. |

Finally, we get another Star Wars Battlefront. It'll look great on the Frostbite 3.0 engine. There's not much more on the EA website either, at the moment. |

It'll be interesting to see which consoles it is on - perhaps it might be exclusively next-gen, but that depends on when it comes out, of course. |

They haven't said Starwars Battlefront III yet, only Starwars Battlefront. Might mean, they want to step away from our good old swb2. |

@Lyrax - Well, on the EA website, they clearly refer to the PS2 SWBFs, so I suppose it'll be something like the ones we know. It's bound to change though after the evolution of gaming. @XYxy - I highly doubt it'll be on the PS2. It will, of course, be on the next-gen consoles such as the PS4 and the sorry excuse for a games console known as the Xbone, and I suppose it'll be out early enough for them to put it on the previous consoles like the PS3 and that other one, whatever it's called. Not sure about that. The little video shown on the E3 was barely nothing. I doubt they've been working on it for very long. I think it will be one of the games for PS4 (and " xbone ") only. |

I don't think it'll be out until late 2014 at the earliest, probably more likely to be in 2015, at around the same time the new film comes out. That being said, I don't think support will be dropped for PS3 any time soon, so it could come out on that as well. Definitely not PS2 though, Sony are finished with that. |

That's why it won't be called Star Wars Battlefront 3: Eurogamer.net: "This is DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be," Söderlund told Eurogamer. "That's the best description you can have. There are absolutely things in the previous Battlefront games that you'll recognise and remember, but DICE wants to put its own flavour on it. That's the only way we can do it. Hence it's called Star Wars: Battlefront, without a 3 at the end. We want to say it's something new. "But again, it's going to be very Star Wars and very cool." |

It had better resemble the Star Wars Battlefront that we know, otherwise it's obvious that EA are just going to cash in on the name "Battlefront". |

Yeah, at first I thought they wouldn't want to move away from what the series was, but what they're saying implies that they don't think what SWBF1 & 2 were was correct, so they'll be changing something significant. It could still be something similarish and good, but yeah I think it'd have to have been Pandemic to get a SWBF3. Anyway, there's also always hope of HD remakes I suppose. I'm assuming they can do that without Pandemic? Edited by David, Jun 18 2013, 08:14 PM.

New info:I'd assume that it'll have to be in third person primarily if it has both, because third person is a huge advantage versus first. Aiming might be easier in first, but you can see around corners in third! Edited by David, Jul 24 2013, 12:24 PM.

plus let's face it, most people like to see how the character you're playing as looks especially if it's something as epic as star wars about if they can remake swbf2 in hd without pandemic, I heard some people that were in pandemic are in ea now so its a possibility remaking it itself shouldnt be very difficult, you're basically just scaling up the resolution of stuff and compiling it into a game (that is still done on swbf2 pc by modders) im surprised at the fact that nobody did this yet, it would most likely outsell any ps store item by far with its fanbase... man can dream cant he?

Exactly Michael, I was hoping they'd re-release it on the PS3 with the online so that I wouldn't have to use my PS2 anymore |

B-) As with most games, I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed, probably autumn/winter 2015. Edited by David, Aug 1 2013, 06:06 PM.
