| A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans. In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament. Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base. These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games. |

Just wanted to ask what u think about the new bfc eu rules playing 1 map in usa server and 1 map in eu server can be little unfair and too fast (also can be cheap way to get points for usa clans) because usa will choose the map they're good at and we just don't have 1 particular map like that (except dsctf which can be purposely drawed by jumping to hole with flag or being only defensive) anyway, the point is that this new rule sucks in my opinion and I have a better one in mind what about we play 4 maps (each map is the server region switched) and if someone wins 3 times then they win but if its 2-2 then we use the new tie breakers (1 mus ctf in EU and 1 mus ctf in USA regions) my idea is definitely more fun and fair, also they made this 2 map only rule because the maps take too long, for that there can be less conquest reinforcements applied (or time limit if needed) Edited by Michael, May 21 2013, 03:41 AM.

We were not at all trying to shaft the EU players. We came to this agreement with Phantom because it would be too long. We discussed doing 4 maps, but with the switching, and at least 15 minutes of CTF in each server...it's kind of ridiculously long. We are still listening to ideas, but we don't do CTF, and we made the "tie breaker" Mustafar CTF. Again, not attacking you at all, ideas are welcome, and we can at least discuss it. Even if it doesn't change this season, the next (because, let's be honest...we keep coming back). |

as 2 maps in usa then 2 maps in eu are not fair (2 maps in laggy server tend to discourage people plus the maps can be chosen tactically in context with the region) if we start in usa server and lose both maps then we only have 1 map in eu to play (if we lose) if we start in eu and win both maps usa also has only 1 usa map to play (if they lose) if we used my idea (1 map in usa then 2 in eu then 1 in usa(if its not 3-0) then nobody would be discouragaed because of lag because both sides would play all 4 maps (2 eu 2 usa) also its fairer for map choosing as well, usa would just choose single conquest map theyre good at in our server otherwise well the problem with 2 maps in usa then 2 map in eu is that the starting server has advantage, how about 1 map in usa then 2 maps in eu then 1 map in usa? seems fair (it sounds like its a lot of work but its not, the match would still take around 1 hour without tie breakers,if you applied lower reinfocement count or time limit to conquest) Edited by Michael, May 21 2013, 12:41 PM.

I don't like any of it. Im going with your idea, Michael. But switching region after every map would cause a lot of confusion. 4 maps up to the organisers choice, is fine. Switch region after 2 maps, just like we do now and put the minimum "conquest reinf. ammount" to 250 instead of 300. I'd say keep the system you were using before, no drastic changes are needed. Delta, why can't their be ties for the ladder matches? There doesn't HAVE to be a winner, unless it's a play-off game, obviously. !! Dont turn it into CTF based matches !! |

Well yeah we agreed to test it Delta. After the match vs BOT I've pc'ed you and Kratos, but no answer. We'll definitely don't play again like we did against BOT, because it's just not fair. The time was the only reason not to play 4 maps and then the tie breakers. If we'd reduce reinforcements (which are very high for 4 vs 4 anyways) we could do that. On the other hand Koen is right, why not giving just a point for draws, just like in football. |

Here's what we decided to do... Slight update to these rules. We will now be doing 1 map in EU/US, then you switch for 2 maps to other region, then switch back to original region. If tied, then the Mustafar CTF tie breaker is applied. Conquest reinforcement will be set lower (90 tickets) and a conquest time limit of 25 minutes will be applied. The Mustafar CTF will now be 15 minutes in each server. Yes, this is longer - but it does make things slightly more interesting. |

If you ask me that's not that fair, becuase if somebody wins 3-0, they played 2 maps in one and only 1 map in the other server. Michael and me thought about just sticking to the 4 maps, playing 2 in each server and switching server after map 2. To avoid people taking just their best map for the other server, you choose maps for your own server. Just reduce the tickets and put the Mustafar timer on 15, as you wrote. By the way, do you mean 90 tickets in remote manager or in game? Because 300 in RM are 450 ingame for example. |

Phantom is right about reinforcements count (they're exactly 1.5x times more than in SM) About the the other thing, I'm glad that you're willing to make a compromise Delta, that shows that certain european people who talked shit about Americans were wrong. If we were to apply my idea (1 map then swith for 2 maps then switch for 1 map) then we should also give the team who starts with 1 map some advantage (because if he loses first map it will be harder for him to stay in the game) I was thinking maybe have them choose 3 maps and 3 factions? Seems fair? |

No, thats very contradictory. If you lose the first map in your server than thats just good gameplay by the opponent. |

Just a question, DS CTF is banned now? Therein lies the issue really. As Michael said in the original post, that map has always been Europe's speciality, which is what Mos seems to be to the Americans. Without that, the odds of us winning a map in their server are somewhat reduced. Mos is still fine to play though, so they have a map in our server that's likely to be a struggle for us. Would it not be simple to just say that Mos Eisley can't be picked versus the Europeans? That means we both lose our best map, puts us on a level playing field in that respect imo. Personally, I'd be happy for them both to be allowed, as they make for interesting maps where the team that is expected to win doesn't necessarily do so. But if DS CTF is being banned then that kinda screws us over. Beyond that, say you get to a 2-2 draw, you're not going to find a situation where there is a "fair" way of tiebreaking. If you play one map for best 3 out of 5, then that map has to be played in someone's server, meaning they get a map more in theirs. If you play another in the other server, then you'd expect you'll keep levelling it and it would be a drawn out, pointless process. The only "fair" way I can see of doing it relates to the first paragraph; both sides have a best map. If you chose your strongest map but weren't host, you'd still have a chance of winning. It means both teams get an advantage, both a disadvantage, and it would also remove the problem of those maps being picked in the standard 4 (which in my opinion is a problem). I don't think Mus CTF is a good choice for that, it's not like it favours the non-hosters as this would. I pretty much think that's the only solution.
If the problem is match length, then switching server twice is only going to add to that, as people seem to take an age to rejoin. Might as well just stick to the standard 2 in one, 2 in the other. It doesn't usually take long to do that 2nd map in the first server. |

@koen yes but you can't deny it's a disadvantage, so it needs to be compromised @david your have some fairly good ideas but dsctf wasnt banned (where did you hear that?) It's silly to ban a map if one side is better at it, be it mos or dsctf. I don't know about you guys but maybe the problem is not a map, but RoR has problems with all the conquest maps (I think tfr won atleast 90% of conq maps against RoR) Also joining server after switching takes under 5 minutes if people can wait 1 minute for other side to join I think what delta has said made sense
I didn't, my idea has been 1 map, switch,2 maps,switch 1 map (only 2 switches) Edited by Michael, May 22 2013, 11:24 PM.

In Delta's first post, he said "we don't do CTF". I dunno what he meant by that exactly, assumed that meant that only conquest is played. I wouldn't have said ban it otherwise. |

Heresy. Just play Mos Conquest 5 times in a US server, that'll keep my US brothers happy. It is the best map after all. GOD BLESS EMURICH. |

I don't really get why everybody is making such a big thing of it, further I don't get why rules are changed so often before finding the best solution. I'd just stick to the old system of playing 2 maps in one server and 2 in another. To avoid playing the same maps all the time and having a handicap we can either say clans should be allowed to choose maps for their server (so if you take your best map you don't have the server advantage on other maps) or clans should choose maps for the other server, so if you take your best map there's still a good chance of winning for the enemy. Both are good ways, maybe we can just agree on choosing 1 map in your own server and 1 in the opponent's server. If you ask me, both clans should get a point for a draw, even if I don't really get the point system at the moment. If you get points for won maps that would be ridiculous, as the count of maps in US vs US or EU vs US matches isn't set. To avoid ties we can still go for playing 2 Mustafar CTFs aslong as the reinforcements on conquest maps are lower. That's the fairest way for me. |

Points are +1 per map win, and a bonus point for winning the match. -2 points for losing the match. a 3-2 score results in 4 points for the winning team, 0 points for the losing team (the "5th" map in the EU vs. US matches would be the Mustafars combined). 3-1 would be +4 for the winning, -1 for losing, 3-0 would be +4 for winning, -2 for losing. We can allow either map configuration. As for not allowing CTF? We allow it...US teams just don't play CTF often. 90 tickets on the RM (which is 135 in game). This may have to be adjusted to 100 (150 in game)... Edited by Delta, May 23 2013, 06:24 AM.

Ok so because bot is better than you on mos eisley, they can't pick it in EU server? cyber bullying xD you can't make new rules just because they're better, that reminds me of 2 children playing a game and 1 is constantly making rules after the defeat Also Phantom, I wouldn't advise to get back to 2maps and 2maps. I've seen way too many matches winning in their server only. My idea actually gives you a better chance to play all 4 maps. If you can't get atleast 1 win then maybe you shouldn't play at the bfc. |
