| A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans. In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament. Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base. These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games. |

As you know, there aren't many clan matches anymore (be it lack of players or something else) I'd like to know some of your opinions about my idea. The idea is, that there could be a neutral place (either on this forum or elsewhere) for people who: - don't get into team for official clan match/match - aren't in any clan/aren't that active on swbf2 - just want to play a match sometime - or are in a team that is not currently active/has enough players In this neutral place, your clan/team doesn't matter. Only your will to play matters. The players who say they want to play in this place, will be able to either challange a clan/team or make random temporary team to fight each other. Activity of players or swbf2 itself does not matter for this place. As it can't die, it's merely just a hub for people who want to play, and if they don't, then nothing happens. I think we need this thing, because newer players can't get into matches sometimes too. I personally think it's a good idea but it will need support of certain people to function(server/forum/chat) Also we should only make matches when there is no clan match or when the people who don't get to/can't play in already made event by one of the clans. This is not an attempt to make any of you more active. It's merely an option that some players need in my opinion. Tell me what do you guys think. |

Not bad, but I guess everybody will come and we'll have the same situation as now. That some people just meet and play against a clan isn't bad though. |

It seems fairly complicated. So, you can still be in a clan but you can also be in this neutral place? Jackie's right in some ways, IM was only made so that we could have a CM occasionally, and currently doesn't have enough active players to play a CM. (Which is maybe why we'd need something like this) |

this wouldn't be a place to have a cm occasionally, it would be a place in which people can form a temporary team for 1 event only(not cm since this would not be a clan or team) also people from clans, especially ror's don't get into matches that much and that also possibly made them even more inactive, this place would have no leadership and teams for event would not be chosen by anyone since there would be a rule that makes it strictly "First to come, first served" if you don't know what that means, it means that sooner you say you wanna play the bigger the possibility that you would play. and I know it's probably complicated, an english native speaker could probably explain all of this better than I in less text |

Right, so the event could be held against a clan, such as RoR, or there could be two random teams if there are enough people who come and get served? |

and these ideas is? Better than the crappy one off games that nobody really cares about. The reason the clan situation is so dead is because RoR refuse to play anyone who beats them a lot, there is no decent clan rivalry and everyone seems to blindly believe random 'fun' matches will satisfy peoples apetite for cms. Oddly it doesn't. Also the fact the eu players will happily wait around all night for us players who are too arrogant to bother turning up. No self respect l0l Edited by Alex, Dec 29 2012, 04:38 AM.

I don't know what you mean by "clan situation is dead" well duh, there's only 1 half-active clan which is RoR and Im would be the same thing, if it was atleast a bt active. Anyway this topic's point isn't "saving clan situations" or "making swbf2 more active" it's merely an idea of a practical option for certain individuals. If possible, I'd like to end the discussion about the subject mentioned above, thanks. Edited by Michael, Dec 29 2012, 05:06 AM.

But your idea is so doomed to fail im sorry but I just had to step in. Nobody here seems capable of looking at swbf2's past, and seeing what does work, and what doesnt. Your brand of self important and utterly condescending remarks are lovely though. Edited by Alex, Dec 29 2012, 12:25 PM.

It was my understanding the the amazing wonderful league was meant to do exactly this. Except swbf2 only has about 20 people who play cms, so its just the usual faces, and lets face it, certain team leaders just pick the better players and only field them. |

that is why I'm suggesting this idea, not to make swbf2 more active or anyone else more active(Im saying this for 3rd time) also if you read my first post I already said there is nothing to fail, its not a clan nor team nor anything similar also about your clan I already said good luck, go for it |

You start writing wrong things again, it's not our fault that IM isn't active enough at the moment. RoR will become 3 years old soon and we always had a rivalry with a clan (first LDS, later LF). As you already noticed, there aren't many active players and if every new team or clan just takes the usual clanless players and isn't engaged in getting new players of the servers this situation won't change. Also this "Idea" is not mentioned to solve this problem, so don't start a discussion about a different topic here. Nobody believes that "funmatches" could replace real clanmatches, but some people would still like to have other events next to the rare matches. |
