| A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Founded in 2010 by Phantom, Remains of the Republic has its roots in Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for the PS2, becoming one of its most successful Europe-based clans. In 2015-2016, we were active on the new Star Wars Battlefront (2015) game. Though just a group of friends playing for fun occasionally, we still managed to win the EU Cup in a tournament. Every now and then we fire up our old PS2's to play SWBF2 again, all remaining players from the EU joining forces to play in friendly tournaments along with players from the United States, where there's a larger remaining user base. These days, RoR mainly functions as a homebase where old and new players meet up to stay in touch and play Battlefront as well as other games. |

Guys...help please! My kid's PS2 was giving the "...patch update required" thing every time we tried to go online with Star Wars Battlefront II. We'd follow the process, download the patch, reboot the console and get the same problem. Round and round we went and never got anywhere. Eventually I found a YouTube video where some guy showed us that if you put a particular value into the DNS Server manual settings the problem would go away. We did this and the problem DID go away....well, we were able to get online....he's "Electric Shockwave" and we had a couple of days of online play with no issues. Today, however, the patch required message is back even with the manually altered DNS settings in place! Does anybody have any ideas what we need to do to get back online? Are there any other valid DNS server settings that you know of that'll work? We're using 63.144.111.10 as the DNS IP address as directed by the YouTube video but we still can't get him back online....help please, chaps! Cheers, Synthesizer Sam. If it'd be easier / quicker to send us some info to an email address, please use hojoboy@hotmail.co.uk. Thanks!! |

Thanks Jak but the address for the DNS server in the Management Area is the one we're already using...it worked for a couple of days...now we're constantly being prompted to download the patch again over and over and can't get back online. |

Try to replace the last number of the DNS through a different one, maybe it will work then. Walking through walls ingame is a bug that allowes you to go "through walls" at some points. From there you can shoot others, but others can't hit you. It's called glitching and not allowed in our servers ;) |

You'll never fully get rid of this patch-problem. It bothered me today again, despite changing my online options a couple of times. Instead of using the most common DNS IP's everyone's proposing, try one of these: http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list Use one of these DNS IPs, I personally tried 208.67.222.222 and it perfectly worked. Phantom...you da man! The IP address you quoted works fine. I guess whenever we get this trouble we'll just try a different DNS address until one works, yeah? Thanks again, man! |

I had the same problem a few months ago. You have to give in the IP adress (63.144.111.10) in the first slot AND in the second one and not only in the first one. Give it a try, worked for me.

not sure but it's possible it has something to do with router/modem firewall/nat setting/closed ports as some people do and some don't have this problem |

No, I never had it and then suddenly one time. Today I had a different DNS error which was away after changing DNS. It's just weird. |
