Last Generation PS2 - 6 Gigaflops Xbx - 7.3 Gigaflops GC - 9.9 Gigaflops This Generation PS3 - 615 Gigaflops (CPU - 200-230 Gigaflops + GPU 400 Gigaflops) X360 - 355 Gigaflops (CPU - 115 Gigaflops + GPU 240 Gigaflops) Wii - 61 Gigaflops Next Generation. My guess is PS4/XB3 are aiming for 2.5 or higher Tflops or roughly 2500 or more Gigaflops. Whille the WiiU sits around 600-1000 Gigaflops. PS4 - XB3 - WiiU - 600-1000 Gigaflops (Based on rumors) For next generation lets start with the statements made by the console developers. Starting with Epic games. They claimed to run their new engine at full scale and 1080p graphics the consoles would need at least 2.5 TFlops of power. It is claimed across the web that next Xbox will be 6-8 times more powerful than Xbox 360. Equating to around 2130-2840 Gigaflops or 2.1-2.8 TFlops. I expect a similar impression from the PS3 to PS4. Since they have more Gigaflops in the PS3 though they will likely say it is 4-5 times more powerful than the PS3 with 2.4-3.2 Tflops. Although x86 is a great advantage to games and adds a bit more to the power, but has less Gigaflops as a CPU. I wonder a bit about GPGPU tech that might be utilized in PS4/XB3. I see WiiU has it, but what could it mean for games when its fully implemented into a game. Could it put WiiU at an advantage next-gen to compare visually to other next gen consoles. Which could vastly be superior to WiiU? Is this GPGPU case why AMD claimed Avatar like graphics for next Xbox a few years ago? What if it has GPGPU + GPU + CPU? Looks like it could be hefty console if true, but we will have to wait and see. I don't expect Microsoft or Sony to disappoint. Edited by DeadFire87, Sep 25 2012, 08:57 AM.
