We've learned from industry sources that AMD / ATI has already won the GPU deal for the next generation XboX console. It looks like Microsoft was happy with first Xeons GPU and it wants to continue using the same, especially since the new ATI GPU should keep the compatibility with legacy games.

The consoles refresh was supposed to happen in 2010 but due to the recession both Microsoft and Sony have decided to push its plans for 2012 and keep the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 alive for more than it was originally planned.

We don’t know how the GPU looks like but judging from the timeline when it is supposed to be delivered we suspect that it might be a 28nm part.

Fudzilla says so. I believe it and so far nothing against it has come out. Also if you take a look at the idea. It potential points out that next Xbox could be coming in 2 years around 2011 as I have suggested in the first place. Some state 2012/2013 for next Xbox. I say that is outlandish. 2012 is a maybe, but very far off. Now with PSP 2 coming in 2010 following the 5/10 year plan I thought was abandoned by Sony it makes me question 2011 for PS4. Since PS3 launched in 2006 and PS4 would launch in 2011 if plan stays the same. Its worked well for PS2, PS3, PSP so far.

I believe Sony and Nintendo will be first to market with their plans for PS4 and Wii 2 or NES 6. Its likely Microsoft will launch later if they are not in 2011 window. 2012 is only option for them if others are aimed at 2011.
