This forum focuses mainly on storyline, as well as the creativity involved in making more characters, races, countries and the like. It does not place a large emphasis on abilities, although there are basic 'levels' depending on your RPing ability. Also, this forum aims to improve its members' RPing and writing skills. Thus it welcomes all forms of writing, however remember to follow the guidelines when using other forms of writing. Godmodding Because this forum is relatively flexible, it is recommended you acquaint yourself with how the world works before roleplaying your spells and abilities in it. All staff keep an eye on godmodding, and any sign of it will be dealt with accordingly. Do remember that godmodding not only ruins a good thread, but also lessens your reputation. If you're known for godmodding a lot, then people are less likely to join you in a thread. Posting, RPing, etc. All forms of tense are acceptable, however please note that one thread must keep to one tense. That means if the creator posts in third person, then each subsequent post must be in third person, and so forth. This will help to keep confusion to a minimum, but also allow all forms of tense for those who may prefer a certain kind to another. Posts have a minimum of 200 words, however more is always welcome! There is no maximum limit to the length. Please note that one character cannot be in more than one thread at a time. This is why members are allowed as many characters as they like. A character must exit a thread before being free to enter another. Also note that continuity is recommended, not only in storyline, but in setting. Attempt to keep a realistic path for your characters, meaning if they are in one area, don't have them appear in a totally different country a day later, unless aided by a spell. Attempt to track their travels between countries as well, unless a sufficient amount of time passing has been taken note of. It is not necessary, but recommended for less confusion and better storyline. Items, Weapons, etc There is a guideline as to the maximum number of weapons your character can have, although this mainly is dependent on your account level. Things such as items and the like are not regulated. It is expected that a suitable and realistic level of RPing regarding items are followed. You cannot suddenly have your character be carrying massive amounts of items without an explanation. Spells And Abilities Spells are dependent on what level your character is, spell types are dependent on your character class, and abilities are dependent on which race your character is. For more information regarding each, please check the ROL Information forum. Levels This is determined when you create your first character. Staff will grant your account a level depending on your RPing level, and you will be able to make your character any level from the highest level you achieved and below. (You're allowed to have unskilled characters. It's good sometimes for story lines for variation in skills to make stories interesting.) Your level mainly determines your character's general skill level, as well as determines the total spells and abilities your character possesses. Characters You're allowed to have as many characters as you like. Please remember to keep track of them in the Character Sheet forum so that it's easier for all of us. You must have your characters approved first however, before adding them to your active list of characters. Races Races will mainly determine your natural abilities, as well as your initial relationships with other characters and races, and to a smaller extent, personality, religion, class and so forth. Some races will be unable to perform certain kinds of spells as well, so it should be noted. Class/Profession Class or profession will mainly determine the spell types you specialize in, as well as your main fighting style, and will also determine how many of each spell type are available to you. Some classes will prohibit certain spell types, and some will also determine alignment to an extent. (Ex. Clerics will always be good.) More will be added. |
