Your fantasy is their reality…

The mind is a powerful organ. It can control billions of organisms, process vast amounts of information, try to understand the world around it, feel pain, joy, and love, and create new worlds. But the worlds the mind creates are more real than even the people that create them realize. Upon creation of a world, a tiny "seed" is created somewhere far away. The creator becomes its god, and the citizens their followers. The worlds have been separate. Until now.

From a realm of darkness has come the Dark Ones, fiends coming in many shapes in sizes. These beings have been creating links between the worlds for a mysterious purpose. They have conquered entire worlds, turning them into hollow shells of what they once were. What are they after? Where have they come from? No one knows for sure. In their moment of darkness, the worlds have found their new champions. You. As an Avatar, defend the worlds your thoughts have forged, fight alongside your own creations, and learn the truth behind the Dark Ones.

It seemed like just a typical day for Forrest, known online as Sapphire Flame. Another day for him to try and juggle maintaining his RP sites as well as school, which was becoming increasingly hard on the teen. He had just finished another post to the latest topic he was in, and sat back and waited for a reply. He spent more time waiting for replies than actually posting, and he spent the time waiting by roleplaying in other forums, maybe IMing a few friends about roleplaying, and generally doing anything except school work. This day, however, was different. As Forrest sat back, he saw a strange light surrounding him. "Wha?!? What's going- oh. " he said. Somehow, he knew that he was being taken somewhere. Instead of the world he created, however, his first stop was to be a place he was familiar with but had no part in making.

He suddenly saw the continent of Jaharaah around him, or rather, a Jaharaah forest. He scratched his head. "Okay... so this must be Jaharaah or something. Weird. I must be dreaming, but this place seems awfully weird. Say, that must mean this must be one of those lucid dreams I've been hearing about! " he decides he would try flying. Surprisingly, he rose into the air. "What the?!? Sweet. All right, how about I summon a cool car now? And a driver's license!" he attempts to conjure them, but fails. "Oh, come on! Either my subconscious isn't letting me do some stuff, or I'm really on Jaharaah, with superpowers. I really don't care either way. "

Forrest decides to fly over the forest a little bit, which feels great. Either this is the best dream ever or the best thing that's ever happened to me... Little did he realize that this wasn't so much a dream as a nightmare, because he saw some odd creatures nearby. Wait a minute... since when did Jaharaah have those? Another thought came to him. If Jaharaah is fictional, how can I be here anyway? One of the black creatures fires at him. Oh, well. I'll find out later. Now's the time to fight. He notices a sword at his belt, and decides to try to use it. With a primal scream, he lunges at the creatures with the sword, diving down with wings of energy.

Tetroneaque had been resting a bit after his last assignment. He had been having little luck tracking down his evil cousin, Phantos the Hopeslayer. He had heard a few rumors of evil beings in the forest though, dark creatures that preyed upon the humans. This sounded like something Phantos would do, and if he stuck to the shadows he would be hard for any human to recognize. Yet Phantos was usually more direct with his attacks, and he had heard nothing of a crimson figure with golden eyes. Still it was the only lead he had so far.

He made his way into the forest, leaping from branch to branch. He used the shadows to hide himself, as every kitsune learned to do at a young age. Not even his smiling white mask or glowing eyes would give him away as long as he was in the shadows.

After traveling for a short while, his sensitive ears picked up some strange sounds. He made his way toward the source of the noise and was shocked at what he saw. Now Tetroneaque had seen quite a few things lately, and it was hard to surprise him. Yet the sight of a flying human battling strange creatures that seemed to be made of pure shadow.

"Okay, there is an easy explanation for this... I'm dreaming." Tetroneaque muttered to himself as he continued to stare. He then pinched himself so he could wake, but all that resulted was a pained yelp.

"All right, not dreaming..." He said as one of the creatures turned its attention toward the masked kitsune.

"Oh bother..."

As Forrest battled the creatures, he noticed a masked figure come into view. He knew who this person was, but something told him to not acknowledge this fact. He did know that he probably wasn't dreaming, if the kitsune believed himself to be. A jolt from his hands went to his sword's blade. "And it appears I can do this too. Will the weirdness never end? Hey, you!" he points to the kitsune. "Neither of us knows what's going on, but I'll bet you can help me. I'm a stranger in a strange land, you know. " He swipes his sword and defeats one of them. "These things go down quickly... But there's a lot more of them nearby. You gonna help or run like a coward? " if Tetroneaque was anything like he remembered, he would probably run. Still, running into someone he 'knew' was a fortunate turn of events. He might be able to make it after all.

"I'm thinking run!" Tetroneaque called back, eager to be gone. He had enough to worry about without lightning wielding, flying humans from other worlds and strange shadow beasts. He was about to beat a hasty retreat and inform the hunting party back at the camp that he hadn't found Phantos, but instead some other menace. That is he would have done that if several of the little shadowy things hadn't materialized right behind him. It seemed Tetroneaque wasn't the only one around that could use the shadows to hide in.

Luckily he still heard, and smelled the would be surprise attackers. He jumped to another branch as a creature behind him swiped at where the kitsune had been standing. As he landed he reached into his robe and tossed out a small vial. This one filled with a red liquid. As it hit the tree it shattered and released a short but potent blast of fire, roasting the three little beasties instantly. The now burning branch broke off the tree too and fell into another group of the creatures.

Tetroneaque had to giggle at this, despite the dire circumstances.

"I meant to do that!" He said. It seemed these things were rather weak. He'd already taken down six with one little blast potion, even if it had been simply a reflex he couldn't have planned it better. He kept up in the trees. He knew that he might be able to help out after all, he still had a hefty supply of his little surprises.

He tossed another one into the crowd of critters, this one was filled with a green gel like substance. As it shattered it stuck to the creatures and snared them, sticking to everything like glue. The creatures caught in it couldn't escape it's sticky grasp, effectively removing them from the fight.

Forrest stared a little before shaking his head. "All right, that sounds good. " He shoots a few bolts of lightning at them. "Let's go back, Te-" he stopped himself. He wasn't supposed to know the guy's name yet, after all. "I'm willing to run as soon as you tell me where. Or, fly... I think I don't have enough energy to fly the whole way, though. " he looks at his back. Apparently, one of his new powers was to manifest energy-based wings. At least I won't have to worry about not being weaker than everyone else. Just because I got my black belt doesn't mean I can fight off people who breathe fire, use magic, and turn into animals. Maybe a sage or something knows what's going on.

"Follow me!" Tetroneaque called to the odd flying human. At least he thought the being was a human. Tetroneaque jumped from branch to branch, using the treetops as his own personal highway. They weren't too far from the camp the Queen's guardsmen had set up. Yet they were far enough away that no one at camp would have been able to hear the battle.

Tetroneaque tossed a look over his shoulder at the flying human. He had run into his fair share of humans from that other world, but none of them had powers like this one. This made Tetroneaque wonder if there were more worlds out there than simply the two he knew of. It would be something the elders would want to know about at any rate.

Soon enough Tetroneaque cleared the forest, he landed gently and kept running. His speed and endurance at such a run were impressive. He figured the odd human wouldn't have trouble keeping up. "The scouting camp is just over that hill! They'll know what to do about those odd creatures back in the woods." He called. At least I hope they'll know...

Forrest nodded and flew the rest of the way. Soon the camp came. There seemed to be a bit of a commotion. "Have the black creatures already come?!?" the teenager asked urgently, quickly hiding his wings. A human walks over to them. "Tetroneaque! What are you doing back already? Turned your tail and ran, hmm? And who's your friend? Well, no matter. Serkane's been acting weird lately. You'd better see for yourself. " A blue falcon-man is taken to them. He was being held by two burly men, each holding one of his arms. Serkane was clearly struggling. "Go ahead. Change to your little birdie form and escape. " "I told you already I can't do that! And what are these cernunians you keep insisting I am?"

Forrest scratched his head. "Serkane, was it? Where'd you come from?" "I told them. I come from a world in which people travel through space. These black creatures have been creating interdimensional pathways that I was able to travel to. I came here and I was told to go help this Tetroneaque person catch this Phantos guy. I told them they had the wrong person, but they wouldn't listen. " Forrest sighed Things are even weirder than I thought. Not only am I trapped in my own fiction, but a person from an entirely different continuity is here too. "Can you prove your story, Serkane?" "Of course. Can you get me that metal rod, soldier?" The soldier didn't move. "Not on your life! I was told to keep you detained until you got over your temporary insanity. " "Do you really fear one man? Are you so scared of a mad little bird?" replies Serkane. The less emotionally stable one lashes out. "That's enough! I'll get you your little rod if you shut up!" "That's a good boy. " He is given his weapon, which he turns on. A flash of light comes out. "Is that magic!?!" asks one of the soldiers. "No, this is future technology. It's a beam of energy that attacks using incineration. Now let me go. " "Not so fast. You may not be our Serkane, but you'll do. You're going to fight Phantos whether you want to or not. Besides, if it turns out we have the wrong guy, we're gonna lose our chance for a promotion. You wouldn't want that, would you?" Forrest sighs. "Tetroneaque? You gonna talk to them or not?"

"Well he certainly looks like Serkane, the resemblance is striking. They could be twins! This one though... he smells different. No, this isn't our Serkane. Oh! Those black creatures he mentioned, there were some in the forest! A whole slew of the little things. They were popping out of shadows as if they were made of it. I found this fellow fighting them single handedly. I thought it would be best to get help as two against a hundred isn't exactly good odds." Tetroneaque explained.

"So, what is your name anyway?" The kitsune asked Forrest as he turned to look at him. "I must say I've never seen a human sprout wings like that and fly about! You are human right?" Tetroneaque felt things were about to get much more complicated than hunting down one rogue kitsune.

Forrest smirked. "Yeah, my name's... Forrest. I imagine you guys have much better names here. " "Hah! Forrest of the forest. " says Serkane. Forrest glared. "You see, it's funny because..." "Don't you ever make that pun again. " growled Forrest. "Sorry, sorry. Anyway, I'm not sure why you have me confused with someone else. " Forrest's concealed a frown. He knew he was to blame for the mix-up. He had carelessly made multiple incarnations of the same person, and this was why everyone was confused. But why would Onyx Skies and Jahaarah be able to access each other? And why did either of them exist in the first place? Could it be that a person's imagination could create entire worlds? Could there be a world for every work of fiction ever created? The possibilities intrigued him. He almost forgot about the black creatures. "Anyway, your guess is as good as mine why I have these powers. We ought to go back and fight them. "

Tetroneaque let out a held breath. "Nice to meet ya Forrest. I'd have to agree with you. I'm usually not one to go picking a fight, but those little black creatures seem easy enough to take out. Heck, how many did I take out with that one potion? Four or five? If we move in as a consolidated force we should be able to purge them from the woods. I'm not really experienced as a military tactician though, so any suggestions or such would be welcome."

Tetroneaque was in the one technically in charge of this squad, but he didn't like to exert his influence over the humans. He didn't want to give them any more reason to resent him, even though it wasn't his fault they didn't like kitsunes. The fact that he wasn't experienced at all in a command position only aggravated this. If he could have he would have given over command to someone more experienced.
