Low and behold, the updated profile of Tarsin is done:
- Quote:
-
Name: Tarsin Dinano
Status: freelance mechanic
Race: Akraidian
Home planet: Posphererus (Paus-fur-us)
Age: 25 (Earth years)
Height: 7.5 ft
Weight: 205 kg
Skin color: green, scaly
Eye color: left red and right is a cybernetic implant (think of the Borg)
Physical Description: Compared to a human, Tarsin has a fairly bulky body structure; compared to his own kind, he almost a shrimp. His head adorns the usual slanted frame, bearing a resemblance towards a T-Rex; teeth included. He appears to bear some sort of cybernetic implants; one noticeable area (If he isn’t wearing a upper body clothing) is the spinal area of his back, as it appear to be made up of a metallic ‘skin,’ looking less like crude cybernetics and more like an actual part of his biology. There are, of course, tell-tale signs its mechanical, such as the blue, dim glowing lines that be seen going down the area like circuitry; as well as the fact that it looks metallic.
Similar aspects can be noticed about half of his right arm and eye. The arm is almost identical to his normal one, with but a difference in texture; and his metallic eye gives off a very dim blue glow, similar to that on his spine.
Weapons+gadgets: Carries the general tool kit for doing mechanical business, although he does have a few of his own races. Nothing particularly special, although he used to his ‘special’ arm to help some time ago; but after a certain incident, he has stopped using it.
Skills: A specialized mechanic and engineer with a knack for surviving tough situations; despite his “do-don’t-think” attitude.
Personality: Tarsin happens to be a guy who doesn't mind a good adventure. He enjoys learning about other people; but more in particular, loves to learn what their technology it like. He is quite enthusiastic when it comes to solving problems and enjoys a good challenge that racks his brain. He strongly dislikes being completely useless and unable to do anything at all. He has been known to jump the gun on a few occasions, although thanks to his past experiences, he has matured a little. All in all, despite his appearance, he can be quite a friendly guy.
History: Tarsin was an electrical engineer who enjoyed his field of work, although he often wished to get out from his underground dwelling and explore the world. He had grown and lived in a much successful life; all until a nasty explosion happened in one of the power plants that he worked in. He was badly burnt, his right eye, as well as half of his right arm, were gone; and worse, there was severe spinal damage; it seemed he would not make it through. As a loved son, as well as a talented engineer, the father could not bear losing him, so he took a drastic and risky measure and they injected a prototype medical nanos into him to repair any internal damage and reconnect his spine. They had not yet been tested, and he was worried that they would multiply out of control inside of their host due to unforeseen errors in their coding (It was, in fact, their ability to multiply that was one of their revolutionary traits, as they could simply do this by converting energy to matter. They would take free floating particles if they could not, for some reason, generate the energy to do so).
To his surprise relief, Tarsin had awaked, barely alive but stable. After the celebration, he and his father worked on the nanos inside of him, teaching his son to become familiar with the technology so he may tune and modify the nanos on his own. They went to work in getting them to rebuild the rest of his spine. However, the nanos could only build themselves and aid in the body’s healing process, and did not have the data, or ability, to properly rebuild a fully organic spinal column. Hence many of the nanos fused themselves together to make a new one, one which was metallic. A similar deal could be said for the eye and arm.
Although Tarsin would have preferred to have a fully fleshed out body, he did not complain, simply glad that he was alive and capable of doing his normal work; and even though he stuck out a bit in his society, he did not let this affect him. Such was how his spirit had been affected by his races old tribal habits.
After surviving a large, abnormal war that had almost quite literally erupted from the bowls of their planet, Tarsin found himself meeting a stranded human called Marken. He had come there via a worm-hole that was not to far from their planet. It was slowly destabilizing, and the Akraidians being far friendlier than they looked, helped him repair his ship and prep. Before it left, however, Tarsin had asked to come along, wanting to explore other parts of the galaxy, seeing as his species were not quite technologically fit for space travel.
Alongside his little adventures in the Gfed space, an incident had occurred with his nanos, were using them to complete a certain repair task had caused an abnormal error to occur. In this case, the nanos as a collective whole had begun to attune themselves more and more with Tarsin’s brain; such as the knowledge inside of him, and even a basis of his instinctual needs. Soon, caused by a threatening incident with one person, a large group of the nanos had taken control of him out of feelings for survival. This group was mostly centered inside the brain itself, but there had been other nanos, while partially affected by the link to the brain, did not agree with the idea taking control of their patient.
A miniature battle had occurred in which it had almost killed Tarsin, but enough of the remaining ‘good’ nanos had survived to fix him back to health. After that, the Akraidian no longer decided to use his nanos to help him do the work, or other wise risk another malfunction. Unknown to him, however, the nanos that had saved had begun to ‘evolve’ their own kind of intelligence; one that was independent of Tarsin’s, and yet held completely to their oath to keeping their patient alive and well.
