Personally, I love alternate universes. Communist Superman? All for it. Luke Skywalker dead, Leia taking up the banner? I'll buy it. Samus doing...what? I'd love to do an alternate reality RP, but I don't know what would be good. so, this thread is to suggest alternate universe ideas, and see what people think about it. A couple ideas... -Samus sacrifices her life for Adam instead of the other way around*; Adam takes over Samus' role, maybe even modifies her suit. -Samus has siblings with similar power suits. -Samus' parent's don't get killed, but she has a strong desire to fight Space Pirates anyways. -Samus is unable to recover her suit after Zero Mission; fights anyways. Whaddaya think? and, do you have any ideas of your own? *I don't know what RE continuity says, but, according to my understanding, Adam sacrifices his life for Samus, then, somehow, is imported into a computer. |

I've got one that I've been toying with since I first saw this image:![]() The shell of the Metroid Prime never got destroyed, did it? It just got discarded because it was so damaged. Well... what if part of the Metroid Prime had remained inside the shell? What if that part was left behind when Dark Samus was created, and still had some of Samus' DNA left over? So heres how it goes: The barely living portion of the Metroid Prime remains dormant in its shell until some of the orange Phazon that survived the cavern's collapse spread into the Metroid Prime's chamber. Once the remaining part came into contact with the Phazon, it began to reform what was left of the shell into the twisted mockery of Samus' armor, the last thing it came into contact with. The new creature cannot create Phazon like the original, but it does not crave the substance like its unstable 'sister'. Instead, it has the insatiable urge to annihilate everything that threatens the existence of what is left of Phazon. It spares the Space Pirates, the first beings it comes into contact with when a small group left behind on Tallon IV detects it, because they embrace Phazon and promote its spread. Metroids are spared, also due to their reactions to Phazon, and because of the slight connection the new Prime has with them. The new creature would be very primitive, having to assimilate knowledge from other beings. The first Pirate that discovered it had his higher brain functions wiped out so that it learned a basic understanding of the Pirates and their language, as well as information on the Metroids, the Federation and it's unsuspecting creator, Samus Aran. With the Pirate Legion as something of an ally, it sets out on a brutal rampage to eradicate anything that threatens what is left of the Corruption. |

So, Samus & GFed Vs. Dark Samus & Pirates? Kinda nice. but, are you suggesting TWO D.S.'es? |

Not really. Dark Samus was an insane, Phazon-fuelled nightmare hell-bent on corrupting the galaxy. This new creature is basically an act of desperation. Phazon has been almost completely eradicated, and this new doppelganger's major drive is to protect what's left the only way it can think of: attempt to destroy anything that could possibly threaten Phazon's existence, or try and control. Pirates USE Phazon, but they cannot control it's effects, unlike the GFEd, which has developed the PED suit and other devices that can limit Phazon's effects. Think of it as the second of two halves. Dark Samus was formed from the core of the Metroid prime and sought to spread Phazon throughout the galaxy. This creature was born from the Metroid Prime's protective shell, and lives up to its former purpose by attempting to protect what is left of its 'sister's' work. This being is actually capable of rational thought: although it starts out primitive, by assimilating knowledge it can gradually learn and become more efficient in its duties. Plus the fact that not only does it have similar forms of weaponry to Dark Samus, but it has all the capabilities of the armored Metroid Prime, such as elemental shielding and weaponry it had absorbed from Pirate technology back when it was still a massive beast. So it's more powerful than Dark Samus, but more protective, and it has nowhere near the level of raw energy of its twin. |

Hey. This thread has been dead for quite a while, but I want to reboot with something. I'm thinking of creating a new character. Specifically, a Dark Templar from the Starcraft universe. I was thinking of introducing him on Aether. Why? Remember the Warp Gates on Shakuras and Aiur. Maybe a malfunction could send them haywire, flinging any unfortunates who use them into different places, times, even dimensions. I was thinking the malfucntion could temporarily connect the gate to one of the now-inactive portal controllers on Aether. Discuss. |

Sounds plausible, although I'd say that since they were constructed to specifically bring the user safely from light to dark Aether it would have to be some major malfunction, then again I guess if the warp destination got fucked up and Aether was the closest possible area it would use the easiest exit point, which being a portal stabilizer. |

The portals on Aether, the controlled ones at least, were programmed to link with the portals on the doppelganger world. Theoretically, they could have their destination changed. It seems like the most plausible explanation overall, as Aether is the only location in the Metroid universe shown to have portal devices. We've already shoehorned F-Zero, Homeworld and other sci-fi universes in. Why not Starcraft? I've always wanted to play a Protoss character, but there are no sources of SC RP on the internet that I can find. |

I've had a couple of ideas: Metroid universe: -Samus is killed in the Pirate raid on K-2L, the Chozo arrive and are ambushed by Ridly and his Pirates who steal the highly advanced technology they carry and begin to reverse engineer it. The Alliance quickly begins to lose it's war with the pirates and is forced to turn to far darker and more sinister powers to help them win... Homeworld universe: - (Homeworld 1) The Kushan mothership and it's fleet never encounter the Bentusi and choose to remain within the nebula with the Kaldeshi in the hopes of hiding from the Tiidan Empire. Captain Elson's rebellion fails without their help and the Bentusi are almost wiped out. Sixty years later, a large Tiidan fleet enters the Kaldeshi nebula in the hopes of harvesting it. The crusade against the defilers begins. - (Homeworld 2) The Hiigaran mothership is attacked before it is completed and blasted to pieces by the Vager fleet. All hope now lies upon a small battlegroup lead by Captain Sobaan. Edited by Shin-Ra, May 10 2008, 08:55 AM.

Yeah, I've been wanting to see some SC in this place for some time (I even had an idea for a hybrid character, although I'll probably wait for SC II to come out first). Some interesting factoids if you guys don't already know, and stuff that was confirmed by Blizzard itself in one of Karune's Q&A batches. I don't know which one though, since there are now a lot. - Surprisingly, Protoss gain most of their nourishment from sunlight, or moonlight, since it's just reflected sunlight. It's said that they can survive for some time without it. Also, as their source of water, they absorbed whatever moisture is in the air through their skin. Apparently they don't need much. - When protoss warrriors die (In this case, Zealots, or probably DTs), that blue dust or 'flash' that occurs is NOT psychic phenomenon. It's actually an emergency teleportation mechanism that triggers whenever a warrior is mortally wounded. They take the Protoss to safe haven (Wherever that is), and this would make sense with the Dragoon warriors. I've atually been wanting to bring the SC universe in here, and not just use some dimensional phenomoneon to do it. But, I'm always good for that kind of stuff too, since that open up other opportunities. In one case, a chance to use a very special character of mine. Let us not forget that Aether would be rather alien to him, not to mention dangerous. My special character can help with that, or at least make things really interesting. I've actually introduced him in the intro thread our new dragon member created. He's kind of a crimson, humanoid entity made up of a very unique, electric-looking energy, and he can travel or 'phase' through dimensional at his own will. Let's just say that dimensional problem with Aether would attract his attention. In any case, he could act as a kind of ambiguous figure head that would occasionally tell the DT stuff, and certain things that he should NOT be doing. An example would be him trying to open another portal, but it only go to Dark Aether, and I doubt the environment will be friendly there. Sort help him in a situation that he's clueless about, and would have almost zero chance of surviving. So? Comments about my idea? |
