I just _____ in the _____.

(OOC: Dood, you guys kick ass…)

“Another thing I might add Mister Gibbs” Fardaway said, holding up his index finger to make a point. “Even if the other airship is still in the skies up north, there’s a chance that we may not even run across it. The odds are miniscule. Far more likely to meet up with a royalty ship, especially since we’ll be heading just a touch East as well.”

Fardaway winced when he heard Mikello’s stammering voice. Lady Luck if that man didn’t sound like a broken gramophone sometimes.

Still, the boy had a point.

“You’re right Mik. While gems are fancy light reflecting stones, they’re nothing more than baubles when it comes right down to it. No. There has to be something more. Some reason why people are willing to kill for it, hide it, hoard it, keep it secret, keep it safe. Do they keep it safe from people like us, or do they keep people like us safe from it I wonder? Grinder stories are well and good Radiance, but they always tend to have happy tweaks to it. Mikello has me thinking though.”

He grabbed one of the ropes that kept the ship tied to the helium balloon above and jumped to stand atop the railing, risking a deadly fall with one slip of his foot. “Still, it sounds like we’ll be heading North. However, you’re all probably wondering ‘why hasn’t anyone else considered going to the mansion?’” He swung in a precarious circle “great question crew! I’ll field that one thank you. No, no, I insist. The reason why not many adventurers have been up there is because the few that have gone have never returned. As I said, there are supposedly traps. It’s also cold. People are more likely to check out the rumors further south, on tropical islands and the like. “

Fardaway jumped back down to the deck and rubbed his hands together greedily. “But firstly, let’s have our uninvited guest fill out a little proverbial questionnaire. Matthias, lead the way.”

The airshipman then followed his crewmate down the stairs, motioning for the others to follow.

With such a mashup of people, the interrogation would likely be…

…interesting.

Ceiling Cat is watching you...

Matthias gave a slight bow to Fardaway, then turned and started down the stairs. "Right, off we go, then!"

By the time he reached the bottom step, he had completely forgotten about the prisoner, and instead was deeply interested in his search to find his journal, which he seemed to have misplaced. Or had he just left it in the room...? Completely ignoring the fact that half the door was missing from the earlier explosion, he began to scour his room, flipping over notes on the desk, sorting through rubble, and the sort.

Where could it be? I don't really remember where I last had it... I know I had it right before the other airship raided, then I went to get my weapon, and then... Gah. Maybe it got blasted under my bed by the explosion? Shrugging, he walked over to the bed and stooped to look underneath it. Before he registered what he was seeing under the bed, though, he registered what had seen on the bed.

"'Ello, and what are you doin' here?" Matthias asked the still unconscious stranger, as he stood again. Realization began to creep back to him as he heard some of the other crew members entering the room. "Ah, right. The prisoner. O' course." He turned to face the crew members who had followed.

"As yeh can see, he's not exactly the most beautiful specimen. But, I saw him lying conked out in the hallway, and I just thought: 'Hey, ya never know when a hostage might come in handy!'" He smiled happily to himself for a second, then remembered that the prisoner was, in fact, still unconscious. Reaching into one of his trench coat pockets, he pulled out... his journal. Useful, yes, but not what he was looking for. He placed it on (the remains of) the table next to his bed, then continued his search.

Five pockets later, Matthias finally grinned in success, and pulled out his reading glasses. He opened them, then placed them on the unconscious prisoner. "Now, a generator..." He once again began scavenging the room, finally emerging victorious from a pile of odds and ends with what looked like a giant car battery, which had gears emerging from every imaginable spot on its surface.

Pulling two wires from another pocket, he wrapped one end of each wire to each end of the glasses, then hooked the other ends up to the generator. As soon as the circuit was complete, the unconscious man gave a huge gasp and jolted upright. Matthias pulled the glasses of the mans face, unhooked them from the machine, and placed them back in his pocket.

He grinned at Fardaway. "Glasses of clairvoyance. Great for knocking yourself into tip-top shape after a long night of drinking. One of my few truly successful creations..." He then turned to the prisoner, who was now staring around the room in confusion. "Now, about the prisoner... Who wants to ask the first question, eh?"

“Ah think that ah would like to ask the first question, before anyone else scares him witless”

This had come from Gibbs who was trying (and largely failing due to the fact he was using his metal arm) to put his glasses in place and squinting at the prisoner, trying to remember something.

Eventually deciding upon a question he pushed past the others and leaned in close to the prisoner looking into his eyes.
“Is this,” he asked quite normally and calmly “ye blood on this wrench?

Wait, ah’ll tell for meself.”

With one hand he drew the tool and looked over towards one side of the prisoner’s face examining at the overall outline of the bruising which was slowly becoming visible. The prisoner was now quite conscious and staring slightly wide eyed at all of them, apparently wondering just what group of madmen had captured him.

After a minutes examining Gibbs leaned back apparently satisfied “yep” he said apparently happy “this one be a low ranking raider, one ah managed to knock out on mah way down to the hold.”

He turned serious again and looked back at the others “now, does anyone actually have anything relevant or useful to ask him?

captain? Matthias? anyone?”

(OOC: Sorry for the short post, but I’m having to work on several things at once.)
