I just _____ in the _____.

Name: Aaron Fardaway

Age: 26

Height: 5’6

Weight: 120

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: Aaron Fardaway has tanned skin, golden eyes, and sandy blonde hair in a constantly mussed style like he just got out of bed. He wears a brown leather waistcoat over a fluffy white shirt and black pants. A pair of goggles adorn his often quirked brow.

Home Continent or City: Ammarchis

Occupation: Airship Pirate Captain, former Gadgeteer for Her Royal Majesty.

Personality: Fardaway is warm and gentlemanly, but also quick to anger. He is known to be anarchist to a foolish degree. Intelligent, but not above being petty, and most definitely a ladies man.

Weapons and Tools: Fardaway carries with him a saber at his belt and a pistol hidden in his waistcoat. Carries lockpicks, open-face style pocketwatch, and a small set of tools for the most small-scale of repairs.

Skills: He knows basic tinkering and maintenance, but cannot create anything of any caliber. Good at stealth, deception, and information gathering. Able to heal better than usual from most wounds (a thing that, unfortunately, catches too much attention for anyone’s good…)

Short History: Fardaway grew up in the small city of Ammarchis with his father and adopted-Animus mother. He lived as any other boy would and, when he was sixteen, joined the Royalist Gadgeteers as a basic planner and maintenance. There he spent eight years until he became ‘friendly’ with the princess’s personal chambermaid in every sense of the word. Later he found out the girl was the daughter of the Queen before she was married. Sentencing Fardaway to the death would arouse suspicion of the girl’s lineage so he was, instead, removed from his position. Suddenly finding himself out of a job, he turned to crime where he has happily been ever since.

(Note: In my short story it reveals he is, in fact, the only half-Animus in existence and that his “adopted” mother is his blood-relation. This will likely not be brought up in the RP as it takes place six years before my story and word doesn’t get out until then.)

Ceiling Cat is watching you...

The Ignored

Name: Radiance Steamsplitter (the last name is of his own creation. He legally exists as "Radiance Coglynn Steamsplitter".)

Age: 47

Make: L-3992-c "Plotinus" class intelligent Grinder

Height: 6'2

Weight: 327

Genderless. Refrenced to as "he". Masculine subroutines.

Race: Grinder.

Appearance: Radiance looks like an unholy cross between a Steambot and a Steamlord, maybe with a little C-3P0 thrown in for good measure. Two large gears stick out of his shoulders, purpose unknown. Clockwork can be seen in his open chest cavity, constantly ticking and moving. Often seen wearing dress pants (they came with the model, apparently, and have been tailored to Radiance's sticklike legs), the majority of a tuxedo (two pipes on his back, as well as the gears on his shoulders, have been poking through the tuxedo since he first forced it upon himself at least a decade prior), and sports a gold pocketwatch he looted from an unconscious man he discovered upon power-up. Head is humanoid, with four mechanical eyes in a humanoid pattern (with two eyes located where his cheekbones would be, were he human). The second eyes are significantly smaller and can be telescopic. The parts of him that are not covered by his slightly tattered dress clothes are bronzen and shining, like a well-polished saxophone. Posesses skeletal hands.

Home: Once belonged to a couple in Ammarchis; was dumped in the Waste Continent after becoming self-aware and being able to think like an average human. The entire "Plotinus" line of intelligent Grinders suffered the same "malfunction", and there is a society of these machines existing somewhere in the waste continent.

Occupation: Drifter. Searching for his old travelling companion Glory has taken him to many places with many occupations.

Personality: The large, amorphous mass of metal and ceramics that make up his central nervous system appear to be altered over time due to magnetic irregularities in his cranial cavity. In essence, his mind is like a large self-writing CD, protected from external magnetic sources by a the skull cavity itself. This has allowed him to sport a personality of his own. Very serious, considers himself "cultured". Strangely, he is a very creative entity. Harbors a slight grudge against humans for abandoning him, and might not communicate openly about "dreams" and "desires" that Humans and Plotini share.

Weapons and tools: Radiance, being a 6 foot tall, 327 pound robot, is a moving bludgeon-device. Steam-driven pistons control his tendons, which are incredibly powerful because of this. Carries with him a several short daggers, magnetically attachable to his body, as well as a violin. He was taught to play this instrument at a "young age" (approximately 3 months after arriving at his first owner's house) and excelled at it. The violin has since been converted into a ranged weapon, capable of firing slugs when the right notes are played. Also carries a magnum pistol, often concealed in a small compartment on his back, like a backpack that has been fused to one's flesh. Fingers end in sharp points, so if weapons are not available he can simply go berserk and rake at an aggressor's face with them.

Skills: Radiance has incredibly fast reflexes, is fairly intelligent, and knows how to handle a firearm. However, he is not particularly gifted in close-combat fighting, were the need to do that actually arrive. Knows many things about tinkering, and is willing to teach others. Being a machine he has absolutely no problem at all with repeating himself. Could create firearms, and has the blueprints for the Plotinus class Grinder embedded in his nervous system. Given an infinite amount of time, he could construct a "child" Plotinus, efficiently making these machines self-replicating, in an awkward sense. Has slowly been teaching himself how to construct and maintain vehicles.

Short history (Hoo, this'll be tough...): Radiance was first owned by a loving couple who, for a time, actually thought of Radiance as their "son". He was treated well. At least, before he became self aware and questioned the motives of his "parents" when they took him to Violin lessons for the first time. His "parents", thinking this was only a slight malfunction, and went ahead with the lessons. Several weeks later, after completing the lessons, he entered another bout of self-consciousness and sentience, one that did not end. He acted too human for his owners to bear, and was dumped in the waste continent. Feeling betrayed, the dapper Radiance wandered about the place and eventually discovered another Plotinus. This one resembled a human female, "her" name Glory. She seemed slightly more humanoid than he did, as she received a chassis upgrade that gave her "skin" as well as more human eyes. The two of them journeyed across the wastelands for some time, until Glory was taken by bandits.

He wandered into Ammarchis for the first time being a free machine, and got a lead on Glory's whereabouts. Since then he's gotten several trails that have all run dry. All but one. And this trail requires him to be part of the crew of an Air-Pirate dirigible...

Useless facts:
-Research into the human mind at the time of the creation of the Plotinus class Grinder was what caused these machines to be so... Human. In fact, the urge to form male/female relationships were dragged into the minds of these machines in order to make sure that if humans stopped tending to the Plotini (plural of Plotinus), they would tend to eachother to ensure their survival. In essence, Radiance was "attracted" to Glory, and is attempting to find and rescue her from her currently unknown fate. A machine that cares is an anomalous creation, much like life itself on Malliah. It was a one in ten million chance that the Plotini would succeed where the other "thinking" grinders did not, and it appears that their success was too great for ordinary humans to bear. So they were scrapped, when they had fulfilled the purpose of decades of research, sentient thought captured in a non-human mind.
-Carries about a monocle. Wears it on special occaisions.
-Posesses such a hideous laugh that it has been compared to a malfunctioning chainsaw with its blade stuck in a Dirigible motor, on highest setting.
-Must eat, breath and drink in order to maintain function. Anything containing carbon can be consumed. Posesses lungbagss driven by the clockwork in his chest, which fan the furnace that would be his digestive system. Must drink water to produce steam.

The Other Guy
[ * * * * * * ]
Name: Jacob Isaiah Gibbs

Age: 47

Height: 5’1

Weight: 162 lbs

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: Gibbs is normally seen wearing a faded Gadgeteer uniform with a heavy tool belt containing a number large and small tools needed to make the continual repairs on the Landeel. A number of brass braces and plates hold together his lower right arm and replace the apparently missing sections.

His face has prematurely aged and the majority of his thinning hair is stark white. He is also normally seen wearing eyeglasses and carrying a cane despite apparently having no need of them.

Home Continent or City: Gearclock

Occupation: ‘Commodore’ of the amphibious steamtank Landeel, , former Gadgeteer.

Personality: Gibbs is quite eccentric (or mad depending upon your perspective) and is normally very direct in all things from conversation to travel, he often speaks his mind on matters which one way or another usually ends up insulting someone, but is easily offended when someone does the same to him.
Despite this he is loyal, dutiful and quite inginuative when it comes to machines.

Weapons and Tools: In fights Gibbs normally resorts to using his metal right arm and a number of heavy wrenches to quite literally beat his enemies into submission, but when hard pressed has several other weapons at his disposal.
The cane he so often carries is infact a concealed rapier which he wields with some skill, along with this there are a several flare bombs placed in hidden pockets within his jacket which he often uses to escape unwinnable fights.

Though never carried, there is also a steam powered heavy machine gun in the forwards cabin of the Landeel, though Gibbs never carries is stating that “it is far too obvious and the bullets are far too expensive to replace.”

Skills: Through quite apt at repairing and piloting his craft, Gibbs’ true skills lie within his abilities to reverse engineer other technologies (which he has had to do several times in the past to prevent his ship becoming obsolete) and finding abandoned experiments and items in the Waste Continent. Some of his larger inventions tend to be ill fated.

Short History: The name Jacob Isaiah Gibbs remains infamous amongst some of the older members and archives of the Gadgeteers for both his bad fortune and overly ambitious designs.
Son of one of the captains of the Gadgeteers, Gibbs was guaranteed a place within the military branch and was quickly recognized for his potential, eventually rising to the rank of Commodore. It was about this time when Gibbs’ first real incident became known.

One of Gibbs’ designs was accepted for creation, a gigantic ironclad which would give the Gadgeteer’s naval dominance, the Unsinkable. The only hints of it’s design are left in Gibbs’ notes “Two hundred paces long, weighed five hundred tons, steam powered gatling turrets, crew of three hundred and thirty. Speed: three leagues an hour.”
In some irony to it’s name, the Unsinkable sank on it’s maiden voyage, the reasons are unknown but rumors range from the boiler exploding to hitting a rock. It is said to be this incident that permanently damaged Gibbs’ right arm.

Most of the weaponry was later recovered and as such Gibbs was allowed one last chance, which was spent creating the Indestructible, a skyship capable of ‘sailing’ at just over ten leagues an hour. The skyship was destroyed before it could even take off, it’s fuel ignited by lightning the night before it’s test flights.
This time however, more than thirty Gadgeteers died in the explosion including Brigadier Ashton.

Blaming the deaths on design flaws, several soldiers were sent to arrest Gibbs and found him to be not quite as unarmed as they expected.
During the months between the destruction of the Unsinkable and creation of the Invincible Gibbs had secretly been creating a large steamtank named the Unstoppable from parts discarded and ‘liberated’ from other projects. Upon hearing of the orders demanding his arrest, Gibbs drove the partially completed tank straight past the stunned soldiers through the city and escaped his vengeful superiors.

Stopping very briefly on the outskirts of Ammarchis to galvanize the few parts he had managed to acquire along with the large majority of the tanks armaments, he renamed it the Landeel and headed for the Waste Continent becoming a ‘treasure hunter’ and occasional privateer raiding the pirates who patrol the continent for supplies. That was just over twenty years ago.

Occasionally every few years Gibbs returns to civilization and sells the few inventions and experiments of value he has found.

Belief: Though once a believer in Lady Luck and Father Fate, Gibbs considers Fate to have repeatedly stabbed him in the back with the strange events which lead to the destruction of his two greatest creations and now worships only Luck.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want I can write up the stats for the Landeel.

Name: Professor Erastus Cobb (Also known as "Rasta"

Profession: Venturing Archive of the Gearclock City Datum Libraries

Age: 57 years

Height: 5'07"

Weight: 103 lbs

Physical Features: He is a thin, pasty fellow, not threatening at all to look at. His hair is short, blond and always ruffled and messy. His eyes are hazel, and tend to turn greenish if he is excited or startled.

Clothing: His clothing is that of a nobleman, full of frillies and collars. He wears puffy blue pantaloons with white edges running down the length of his leg. His chest is clothed with a white shirt, covered by a thick, light blue vest, in turn covered with a large blue overcoat with a white collar, the buttons being plated with gold.

Equipment: Being an Archive, he always has his usual equipment: at least 10 pens and pencils each, several blank-paged books to write in, a pencil sharpener, and his odd set of glasses. The glasses have other lenses with different magnification levels attached to the frame with thin metal bars. When not in use, the lenses stick out diagonally from the frames, but are otherwise snapped in place in front of the first lenses.

Weapons: Cobb has no actual weapons, though he could stab his numerous pens into the eyes of his attackers if he so wished. Or bludgeon them with with the novels of information he's written.

Abilities: He is not very strong, cannot run very fast, or fight extremely well. His abilities are strictly with cataloging - mentally and physically - the details and data of everything he sees, feels, smells... you get the idea. His literally photographic memory, a gift most archivists have, is what helps him the most in this task.

Religious Beliefs: He does not explicitly believe in either diety, but has studied them, their principles, and followers heavily.

Brief History: Erastus "Rasta" Cobb was one of the catalogers and archivists of the Gearclock City Datum Libraries, a center for knowledge of every kind. The building itself was several stories tall, each level housing an entire section of information. Having worked there for 40 years, however, Erastus had run out of information to catalog. When he runs out, Rasta gets edgy and begins pacing frantically, looking around for anything to focus on for a moment.

So, being annoyed of several weeks of this behavior, the head archivists of the Libraries sent him on a sort of mission; to gather and document any information about anything he could find. Since then (roughly a year ago) he has been roaming around without direction... after all, why would you need to pick a direction when in every way lay what you look for?

[ * * * * * * * * ]
Name: Mikello Vessorov

Gender: Male

Occupation: mechanic

Age: 19

Height: 5' 2"

Weight: 130

Race: human

Eyes: (left) blue, (right) green

Hair: light brown, if it wasn't shaved (ever tried getting grease out of hair?)

Appearance: Nothing fancy, he just looks like a typical (small) mechanic whose greatest passion is life is working with machines. He wears big gloves, heavy boots, somewhat loose-fitting pants, ridiculous looking goggles, a bandana loosely tied around his neck (so he can cover his face), a sleeveless shirt, and a lot of machine grease. Under the grease, he's got a slight tan.

Personality: Mostly timid and withdrawn, Mikello has a tendancy to stutter a bit. Having a kind of talent for just about anything related to machines, machines are pretty much his entire life; anything else and he's out of his element. Also has a habit of not paying attention to anything that has nothing to do with machines. He prefers to sleep in the engine room so he can be closer to machines

Weapons and stuff: He doesn't carry any weapons, as he doesn't really know how to fight or do much of anything beyond working on machines and doing the basics like eating, sleeping, and taking a bath. However, he's always got some kind of tools on him, like a wrench and maybe a screwdriver or two.

Skills: As stated above, he's got a talent for machines. Fixing, building, designing, dismantling; you name it, he can do it (but only if it has to do with machines). However, because of this, he can't really do much of anything else. For instance, he could write a book with everything he knows about cleaning machines, but if you want to clean something that's not a machine, better ask someone else. However, if he was given a brief description on how to do something (like chop vegetables), he'd build a machine to do it by the end of the night, provided he has the materials.

Breif history: Mikello's love for machines started when his father, a toymaker gave him a clockwork toy when he was barely a year old, and everything snowballed from there. He'd spend as much time as possible in his father's workshop, studying how everything worked almost religiously, and eventually started working with just about any machine he could get his hands on. Somewhere down the line, he ended up working on an airship owned by pirates. Chances are, he wasn't paying attention to who he sought employment from, and most likely doesn't care so long as he gets to work with machines.

Today's Mood: Syke! Life is awesome!
[ * * * * * * * ]
(Let me know if anything is too far into the abnormal, and it can be changed fairly simply. Also, apologies for the long length, I was in a writing mood.)

Name: Matthias Casington

Profession: "Retired" Mad Scientist/Mercenary

Age: Unknown (Explained more later.)

Height: 5'9

Weight: 217

Physical Features: At first glance, he would appear to be a well-muscled, fit, possibly even attractive man in his early forties. Pay a bit more attention though, and you notice... oddities. The way his sapphire eyes gleam, even in near darkness. The way he is always slightly hunched, as if trying to act inconspicuous. The over-inviting smile; the numerous scars covering his skin...

He is not ugly, by any means... just, disconcerting. His orangey-red hair, similar to that of an Animus, is pulled back in a short ponytail (he claims that one of his grandparents was an Animus, but this claim is usually regarded as untrue). The end of his ponytail is tipped in gray, supposedly from old age.

Clothing: He wears a large brown trench coat, covered in hundreds of pockets of all shapes and sizes. He changes shoes depending on the day and situation, ranging from flip-flop-like sandals, to (worn out) dress shoes, to mud boots designed to get you through even the worst of storms. He occasionally wears a pair of perfectly round, thin rimmed glasses to help him read, which only adds to the appearance of a mad scientist.

Equipment: Tools and building supplies. His pockets are filled to the brim with odds and ends, gadgets, gizmos, whirligigs, trinkets, bobbles, thingamajigs, whatchamacallits, and whatever else he may need to build or repair something on the fly. He just has to remember which pocket holds what.

His main weapon is a rifle which he "upgraded" for longer range and a faster firing rate. Unfortunately, this also resulted in the rifle now occasionally backfiring explosively. Despite this, he is quite an excellent shot, having spent much time hunting during his younger years. He also has a pistol, which he keeps hidden in one of his many pockets, and therefore can never remember exactly where it is.

Skills: Surprisingly, not much engineering (for a mad scientist). He tends to be much more of a dreamer than a do-er, and it shows in his creations. Mind control devices, time machines, weather controllers, x-ray visors, teleportation devices, you name it: he has tried (and failed) to make it, usually with very bad (though, on a few rare occasions, good as well) side effects.

Despite not being able to build anything large, he is actually able to build small trinkets which can help him in battle. He also has one other useful engineering skill - he can repair things, even with little to no prior knowledge as to how they work. Just make sure he doesn't try "upgrading" it in the process.

He used to be an Archive, although nowadays the ability has oddly been reversed (likely due to a failed experiment) - he forgets things near immediately (including how he actually builds anything he does, resulting in him rarely being able to stop his creations once they're started). He does still have the abilities of an Archive in some degree, however - on occasion he remembers something useful if in a pinch, even if he had completely forgotten about it previously.

One last ability Matthias claims to possess is that of extended age. Although he looks to be in his early forties, he claims to be well over 100 (137, to be exact). He claims that one of his experiments (the one to create a time machine) backfired and instead allowed him to escape the flow of normal time - essentially giving him the ability to avoid old age indefinitely. Unfortunately, it is hard to test if this is actually true, or just another mad claim (as it is usually regarded).

Religious Beliefs: He believes that luck is a more than just a deity, and has actually tried to harness it as an energy source. Naturally, he failed.

Brief History: Not much is known of his younger years, though his failing memories have shown him that he was the son of a recognized gadgeteer. Unfortunately, a failed experiment of his father's destroyed their house and killed his parents while Matthias himself was out on a hunting trip. Upon returning and learning of his parents death, he went mad, trying to find ways to fix the event - time machines to prevent the explosion, or even ways to resurrect the dead to bring his parents back.

Nothing worked, of course. Over time his original motives for invention were forgotten - he delved deeper and deeper into the shadowed depths of known science, and then eventually beyond. The concepts of his ideas are fantastic, albeit ages beyond their time, and almost never succeed.

Despite the madness of his creations, the sometimes odd manners caused by his memory loss, and his otherworldly claims, he is still intelligent, and acts fairly normal. His formal upbringing is apparent, and he can easily hold his own in complex conversations or debates. He is knowledgeable in most realms of modern science, despite being seemingly unable to harness them for his own advantage. Simply put, he is fairly normal, until he gets into a creative or constructive mood.

He has also realized that he forgets things quickly, and as such has started to record information for himself. He is constantly writing things down in journals, detailing anything of importance so that he has it on hand, in case he forgets.

Over time, his inheritance has ran out, giving cause for him to find a job. His skills as a marksman have allowed him to gain work as an assassin and mercenary, which he seems to have no moral qualms with. He keeps tallies the jobs he has taken, awarding himself different ranks and honors depending on his successes. His current rank is that of "High Commander", which only he uses in reference to himself.

His two motives are survival, and to study of the limits of science. If something allows for one of those two, then he is sure to be all for it. His role on the ship is that of a mercenary, a crew member to both defend and assault should it be needed.
