Hello fellow RPers! Remember in the REtirement topic where I said I was going to try something? (hehe, another REism) Here it is! The RP is going to be called Joyous Light, here’s a quick rundown of what I hope for it to be: A Steampunk RP based oh-so slightly on my short story, Tears of Brass, you won’t have to have read it, it’s just for the setting, and it even takes place before the story. You won’t have to know anything much about Steampunk either. If you have any questions about anything anything anything at all let me know! The most basic idea of the plot is that all the characters are going to be a crew of Airship Pirates searching for a jewel called the Joyous Light. As the RP creator my character is going to have the position of Captain so that I can still have a bit of the reins even IC. But! The plot is all going to come down to everyone helping supply what the crew does and where we go! The idea of the RP is “roll with it.” Someone suggest a manse in the Northern Reaches where we might find some research papers about the Joyous Light? Spiffy! Oop, what’s that? Someone else overheard a braggart that he had the jewel cached somewhere? Well, perhaps since the city he was last in is on our way to the manse, we’d better rough him up a bit. Before I forget, here’s some world info. You don’t have to memorize it, but it’s here for if you ever get confused, or if you want to play one of the categories. Feel more than free to come up with something of your own as I really don’t want us to rely on everything I’ve already made. This is just to give us a cornerstone with which to build from. Malliah – The world, set in a nineteenth century style, but with slightly higher technology. Guns and swords are still both in use, but there is no such thing as magic so people have to rely on their sharp wit and sharper blade. Although I’m going to give a br I want us to fill it in as we go rather than rely on what I’ve already come up with. Gearclock – The capital of the world, need I say more? Bone City – A city just east of Gearclock that is used as a prison city for its neighbor. Criminals who get out after serving time there don’t often have anywhere to go and usually end up as citizens. Ammarchis – A tiny northern village. The Waste Continent – A harsh, dead environment scattered with abandoned inventions and experiments all kinds. Home to the Animii. Gadgeteer – Inventor who has served royalty or the military at any given point (it can even be small things that earn them a commendation, and they are then referred to with the title Gadgeteer) Archive – People with photographic memories, their job is to gain as much knowledge as possible in any given profession (or professions) to help their group. Animus (plural is Animii) – A race of humanoids created my man. They are known to be tall, reaching at least six feet, have red hair and glowing yellow eyes (the glowing is actually a result of highly reflective irises, like a cat’s). They are far better able to heal from injuries than humans. Their purpose was deemed a failure and they were dumped in the Waste Contenent. Three generations later, they harbor little anger toward the humans and are often seen traveling with them. Grinder – Robotic machines typically found on the Waste Continent. They are of many shapes, sizes, and makes. Some so old that people have forgotten their purpose or even how they manage to keep running after all these years. Dieties Father Fate and Lady Luck are the two patron deities, each person worships either one depending on whether they believe in their actions being that of chance or destiny. There is little strife between the two sets of believers. It is said that Fate and Luck came together to create Malliah by bringing their swords together and plunging them into the heart of a dead planet to give it life. In this age of technology and research some people are turing away from the two Gods and looking toward Science for answers instead. I can always use some suggestions on how to hone this RP idea before we start. Something else, I would like this RP limited to, at most, four other people (not including myself). I would very much like it to be lighthearted adventure, but not too silly, we can also have some darker moments but I don’t want it to be practically depressing. I would love to see people’s characters and your ideas and suggestions. Hahaha, it's so great to see you all so excited. Yes, you can play as an Archive. Something interesting I do with the generator is I just type in gibberish and see what it comes up with. You can play as humans, Animii and apparently even Grinders, I didn't even think of that possibility (awsome idea Qualanx!). Rather than think of humans as a 'race' however, because we're focused on a smaller scale than the sci-fi section, humans would really be seperated out into cultures. I'm totally open to ideas. Just...no playing Air Kraken ...seriously that's asking for it. Okay so here's the list of y'all who seem to be interested: Qualanx: In. Possible Grinder Character. Shin-Ra: Maybe. Fatalis: In. Archive Character. Alkarii: Maybe. If anyone's reading this topic and they're bummed out about not being able to join, I'll be more than happy to help set up another idea for an RP like this. Oh, and I forgot to add a little snippet about the dieties in my first post for reference, but by the time you read this I will have added it. I marked it with a little white * thingy. I'm making a Grinder, most definately. I've got an idea planned out. The character itself will look like an unholy fusion of Metroid Prime 3's Steambot and Steamlord, maybe with a little C-3P0 thrown in for good measure. I have to draw this guy. XD |

The reason I wanted an Archive so badly was since one of my favorite books has a character in it that is addicted to learning and will actually go into withdrawal if he does not learn over a period of time. This means I know exactly how I want to play him.
