(OOC: Curse my natural showmanship! I have a feeling I might be staying in the RP afterall Aiko, it's just so damn interesting! ;P ) Squirt was a little taken aback that someone was staring at her, once she finally managed to tear her eyes away from Coney's ears and put her sight on Gene instead. She thought about saying something, just a few simple words, or even a smile, but she couldn't. Something about this individual unnverved her. Really unnerved her, yet not in a threatening way. Either way, she knew she had to be careful to keep her feelings in check, or else strange things would start happening, and she wasn't sure she wanted anyone to know what she was. Sure, she could pass for human until the very first scan or perhaps a closer inspection from a highly trained medical professional. It wouldn't last long, however, if the lights began to flicker and all the radio stations picked up her favorite songs. Although it she was barely able to pick it out, she could catch just the slightest of voices behind her and, oddly enough, could almost feel eyes on her. She whirled around to see the two newcomers. This was a bad idea, she shouldn't have come, it was becoming too easy for people to see what she was, things were getting out of hand qui- A phone in her pocket began to make strange noises. Not now, she thought, biting her lower lip. She knew her feelings were starting to get the better of her. There wasn't anyone calling her, she probably infected it by accident and it would be projecting her own thoughts if she answered. Her ship began to run the AC, thinking the cabin had suddenly raised five hundred degrees. Squirt had to control herself. Even when Trisha was an emotional wreck she always had some kind of control. Emotions had always been present in the GI, as well as her influence on electronic devices, but neither had ever meant so much before she became physical. What did Trisha do to control herself? Other than crying of course. What to do? She couldn't cry, it would look weird, especially since she often wasn't able to produce tears, sad or not. Things were spiraling out of control, it would be a trade off, of what people figured out and what she did as a result, that would cause her eventual revelation of non-humanity. Her eyes caught someone else once again, and her thoughts vanished. She only saw their backside, but still. "An echo of a memory..." she said, stratching her arm despite the fact that it never itched. |

(OOC: Teeheheeheeehehehehhe *cough*) Coney gave a frustrated growl to the how the guard reacted to his presence. Geez, and he thought he had shown a lot of immaturity during his younger days; this guy was the worst example. He was going to almost yell at the guy when the other soldier had intervened and told the guy to do more important work. The scene had actually been enough to wash away his anger and even put a few chuckles and a temporary smirk on his face. He didn’t need to take out his anger on the guy when he rightfully got what he deserved; but, more over, it was the soldier that made him smirk. He was a rebel, in a way, someone that didn't always follow the rules, and took risks. Like he did. Maybe this job won't be too boring after all, he thought with some hope. Then an odd girl came in. She seemed odd to him because there was just something off about her physical appearance, but he just couldn't put a finger on it. Not that it really bugged him that much, as he was getting mostly distracted by her the color style of her hair. The green color reminded him of his unique stone that he found, and the hair ending with the purple just struck a visual chime with him. That, and it being bundled up in a ponytail just made him get more distracted. He the site of it made him want to swat it for some reason. He was almost so distracted that he nearly completely ignored the other newcomer; not that there was anything special about them that would have warranted much of his attention. At least not yet. What did break his glance, however, was Ed. Although he missed Ed's break in sentence, he did notice how the expression on his face had changed all of a sudden. He was puzzled why the Wonder nerd guy, who seemed so enthusiastic to meet people, all of sudden had this sad face towards Spurious's presence. Blinked at the momentary ambiguity, and then returned his attention to the rest of the group. "An echo of a memory..." he heard Spurious say, seeing her scratching her arm. Huh?, he thought, I wonder what that was all about. Oh well, since I'll be waiting, might as well get to know the other new people that I'm with. He decided to start wit Spurious, for obvious reasons. "Hi, the name's Coney. I'm a geologist" he greeted, "so why did you come here? What kind of profession you got that this company needs use of?" |

"Indeed, if your here for the tour thats why i am here, m'lady, for you and your boyfriend." The guard smirked as he finished, eying Rose with subtle interest. About the same amount of interest that he had with every woman he looked at so far. Well, not the ugly ones. Rose certainly did not take the last part of the comment well. They had always been assumed to be "partners," and those assumptions were always wrong. They were more like siblings than anything else, and neither felt anything beyond that. "Boyfriend?!" Rose shrieked. "Why is it that everyone assumes that he--" She stuck a finger out at Thorn "--is my boyfriend?! "Rose..." Thorn said quietly. His cheeks were beginning to turn red, and he was subsequently beginning to hate the accuracy of their animated emotions. "God, I'm sick of it! I swear, the next time that someone says anything about that--" "Rose!" "--I'm going to rip their head off and shove it up their--" "ROSE!!" Thorn interrupted. "That's enough, I think everyone within a fifty mile radius understands now. You can stop..." "Ok everyone... Get acquainted with each other until our transport arrives; it could be a few minutes, so I hope you don't mind your co-workers too much," the man said in a very cavalierly tone. "Well, who should we talk to first? The girl is already occupied with the geologist -- I really wanna talk to her alone, you know," Rose said to Thorn, "in case she doesn't doesn't want anyone knowing about the stuff we noticed." "Yeah, I see what you mean. I'm kinda interested in the geologist too. Those are some seriously fuzzy ears, I wonder what he is?" Thorn said to himself. "Muh, I dunno, I think I'm just gonna wait until the geologist is done. Then, I'll talk to the girl. You can get all the information you need from mister Fuzz-ears while I do," Rose said with a smile. Edited by Metamyth, Feb 4 2008, 12:49 AM.

Unknown forest area, approx 7 miles away from compound, time unknown Silence. It was something that had never gripped this forest before in its long life since the beginning of time. always before, life had filled this lush world created by whatever creator gods breathed life into it. the cycle had never come to an abrupt end, never ceased even in the face of calamity itself. Now, for the first time, the forest remain silent, for death had come to these woods. adorned in a cloak like black mist, its figure hidden and footsteps silently floating through a large, open glen in the forest. open to the blue sky and beyond. the dark mist, the only thing that could be considered a truly sentient being for miles around beside the compound, gently moved its way toward the center of the forest glen, even sunlight pulled into its black, abyssal form. two blue slits formed at what could be called the front of the mist, which glared like eyes at the compound in the distance ...the sun may shine here, but i can feel no light in this place. silenced voices of the innocent may fall upon deaf ears to them, but i know the secret this place holds, i know the whispers of suffering carried on the winds. The mist seemed to subside somewhat, allowing a humanoid figure to be visible within its grasp. "May god have mercy on their souls, because i will not." the figure silently seemed to pray to himself, touching his chest, then forehead, then touching his left then right shoulder. "Amen" -------------------------------------------- As Gene watched the group seem to converse and begin to get comfortable, he began preparing to notify everyone that he was going to start the long, several hour tour of the compound. as he was about to open his mouth to get everyone's attention, however, he felt a gentle tap on his left shoulder. Turning around, Gene found himself face to face with a large, Gray-armored soldier. standing around seven feet, the man within the suit seemed unusually rigid, almost stiff. looked like a guy who gene would describe as having "an iron pole for a spine." "Uh, how can i help you?" he said, looking rather confused at seeing such a large, armored soldier stand in front of him. behind the man, a rather large looking Personnel carrier had quietly and discretely pulled up behind the group. odd, Gene did not even hear the sound of its engine entering the hanger. it actually unnerved him quite a bit, along with the large number of other Gray armored soldiers that seemed to be securing and emptying the area around his group "You and these individuals are ordered to be escorted by us to a preset destination" the armor said in a robotic tone. Gene now knew this was an Autonomous Armor Unit, or A.A.U. . "Under whose authority?" "I am not authorized to state that information" "Then...under authorization code Charlie-Ben-Delta-9-5 i order you to answer my question "Under whose authority are we to be escorted where?" "I am not authorized to state that information. I am, however, authorized to tell you, Gene Harris, that this is a personal request of a Dr. Widdick." Genes eyes widened at the remark of the Autonomous Armor. He was quite aware of who Dr. Widdick was...although his name was funny, Gene knew he was one of the top researchers of the facility, who was rumored to work in a place known as "The Vault". Aside from that, the rest were rumors and whispers. Gene sighed. the tour would have to wait, and these individuals, alongside him, were about to get a view of ARMAGEN's most secret facility. "hope they at least have some kind of pamphlets or something, because i don't know $h** about that place." he muttered to himself. Gene then took a short stroll over to the Personnel transport, and, standing outside the open entrance to it, he cleared his throat to get his companions attention. "Ladies and Gentleman, i apologize for interrupting you all, but today is a very special day indeed. these fine gentleman in the gray armor have invited and authorized me to give you all a special tour of a very special part of this facility. While we don't have the authorization forms on hand, you WILL be signing them later at gunpoint to guarantee the safety of ARMAGEN's secrets." Gene left a moment of silence to gauge his comrade's reaction. "....that was a joke, you know, leave the paperwork and gun pointing to me. anyhow, please enter the personnel carrier as quickly as possible, and don't worry about safety issues. Seriously. As long as I am around i can guarantee the safety of all of you, especially the ladies." Gene announced, a sort of sly grin spreading across his face. "Now then, ill be waiting inside this rather comfortable vehicular device and will answer all of your questions to the best of my ability along the way. oh, and in case you ladies are wondering, my name is Gene Harris, i am 24, a Taurus, and like reading looks and long walks on the beach if you can find a good one in the galaxy these days. oh, and my salary ain't bad either." and with his last sly remark, Gene made his way into the personnel carrier, sat down in one of its many rather secure yet comfortable seats, and waited. if he was lucky, one of those nice ladies would sit next to him. if not, he would get a few nasty looks. |

Squirt forced herself to take Coney’s hand with a fake smile. “I’m Spurious Winters or…Squirt” she said with an inward wince. As old as she was, she had never been able to escape her nickname. The coolest guy in the world had given it to her, but it had been because she was just a kid, the first GI kid. But most certainly not the last. Still, later times in history had shown an increasing number of unusual names for people. Nobody laughed when the war hero named Slacker used his strategic prowess to obliterate a Space Pirate ship fifty times the size of his own little scout. Just as nobody said anything about Slacker, no one would likely say anything about the name Squirt. She was talking to someone named Coney for God’s sake. Her almost instantaneous method of thinking didn’t break her introduction. “I’m from Phoenix Delivery Service.” She reached into her pocket and produced a business card. …She looked at the card and sighed sadly. too many of the names on it were crossed out these days. She put it away silently. “There’s probably a more reputable transport service out there you could contact. Anyway, I’m here for” Manga Reading? “-I mean as a secretary. Bet this place has all kinds of paperwork to do. Go me” she said sarcastically. “Normally secretaries aren’t usually specifically chosen, but I have good experience with programs like QuickBooks.” She thought about when she lived in the virtual world. Hell I used to sit on that crap when I read my Tokyo Mew Mew manga. Found some lost MP3’s between the cushions too. A panic suddenly gave rise in her as she listened to the barely murmured conversations of Rose and Thorn. The grey armored soldier made her forget the other two and she had to keep herself from shrieking. If she had fine hair on the back of her neck, it probably would have stood on end. A tiny survivalist voice in her head told her to Take everyone, overload the robotic guard thing, get on her ship, and never come back. Her fingers wiggled slightly at the temptation of it. To Take was not only a means of doing what she did, but it also had a craving about it too, a feeling of power, of control. She stomped the feeling flat, like someone would put out a cigarette with the heel of their boot, feeling better since Gene’s little speech. Secret eh? Secrets were things Squirt was all about. They’d have a hell of a time getting her to sign her name by gunpoint when she could disappear in a flash. For a moment, she looked greedy, but it turned to surprise when Gene said he was kidding. Still, people sometimes said they were kidding when they weren’t. The GI put the thought on the back burner and, with a quick glance to everyone, stepped into the vehicle, sitting down next to Gene with a slight frown and raised eyebrow. |

Rose listened as Gene spoke of the 'Gray-armored gentleman' having given them the chance to tour a 'special part' of the facility. The Special Part part had her worried slightly... after all, it could all be some kind of trap, meant to lure in the people they thought threatening or dangerous. Thorn practically read her thoughts and whispered in her ear. "Relax, I don't think it's anything dangerous. Let's get in." Rose nodded and ducked into the vehicle, ending up beside Spurious, who was beside Gene. She felt sorry for her; Gene seemed a bit too preoccupied with other things than the tour. Or like he'd rather be touring something else... She shoved all thoughts of the man out of her mind as she finally settled down by Spurious. She smiled at her and gently said, "Hi there, I'm Rose. Nice to meet you... Spurious, was it? That's what I heard before..." Thorn slid in behind her and took a seat across the cab, facing Rose. |
