If you're a returning member, no, your account has not been deleted, we've actually changed board since you were last here. just go ahead and register, PM one of the staff, let us know you're here, and we'll get right to work converting your information and post count from the old board. Keep in mind that any RPs running on the old site are probably still there, so if you don't see them here, just check the 'Home' Page, and follow the link back to the old board. |

Things have been slow lately, and as some of the veterans have probably seen, things have been petering out gradually over the years until we got where we are not. We are at one to two posts per week it seems, and as someone who loves this community; it kind of makes me nervous about what’s going to happen over the next year. Are we going to be here still? I propose a new member campaign. Now I don’t expect things to ever be like they were back in the old days, but a few new members a month is really all we need. Now we may not necessarily get the same kind of demographic we’re used to (nerds and alike,) but we’re all here because we want to write, and that's all that matters. If we do this I feel like we’re probably going to have to reinstate the application process in order to weed out would be Stephanie Meyers. >_> We would also need an email account which people can use to contact us with questions prior to joining the community. I’m going to try and put together two types of fliers, both of which can be printed out with your average home variety printer. The first kind would be a flier for posting at libraries, grocery stores, etc. If our fliers are going to be posted on public bulletin boards I strongly suggest that you speak to an employee/official of the premises and get permission first. Some people are picky about that. The second type of flier would be a cut out, much like a book mark or business card, that can be left in books, magazines, or newspapers in public places. Now I have someone I’m going to ask to put these together, I would do it myself but I no longer have access to Photoshop. *sad face* If anyone would like to assist in this undertaking, their help would be appreciated. Something else that would be appreciated is your input in this endeavor, or your participation. If you think it’s a good idea, then please try to post a few fliers or go to your local Barnes and Nobles and stick some papers in your favorite books or something. If you have a better idea, I encourage you to share it. This is not going to be a campaign in which we pick only one form of advertisement, but keep in mind that most of us are poor. Granted I’m interested in as many outlets as possible, not everyone has the money to contribute to larger endeavors. Our community does not have a budget , so if possible I’d like to keep ourselves as far away from spending money as possible, unless we have donors for professional adds. If you’re interested in making fliers I’d like to make sure we stress that we have an open minded community with many flexible settings to write in and contributors from around the world. Who knows, maybe we can use Beflexor's to our advantage since we now have a pet published author to brag about. =P Thoughts, anyone? Bueller? Bueller? |

That's not a bad idea. I've had some experience with trying to advertise my novel Dusted (now only .99 cents, buy one today!) and I've found fliers with the little tear off strips work best. Like Rip said, look for the readers. The readers will always be the writers. Most important thing about making tear-tab fliers: add the information on the main part of the flier, too. I had to do a face-palm once when I saw a tear-tab flier for someone looking for a study buddy (or a room mate, I can't remember) and there was no way to get their information because all the tabs with the information on it were missing. If all the tabs are missing they should still be able to get the info, and they will find something to write it down on if they are determined enough. Another trick I've seen is someone using a business card. I've got one from another local publishing sitting on my dresser, they'd left a stack of them at a local used book store for people to take. We could consider making very plain ones if we've got some money to burn (har har) I would put some up where I'm going to college, but any time I've tried they've just disappeared after 24 hours. Which is weird because I've seen some pretty stupid stuff stay there for a long time. If you'd like I can make a mention of RE in my "About the Author" section in Amazon, in Dusted (it makes a great gift!), and a post about it in my blog (which I really only started to advertise Dusted ((a fantastic story for all ages!)) ) |

((Beffy, I have a strong urge to purchase your book, I hear it's really great!" I think that you've got some great ideas. I have a friend who's an extremely talented graphic artist who may do fliers pro bono for us. Even if we can't get a whole lot of people on board I'm going to be doing it in my area. |
