This also a WHOOT as well as a little fact, but being a member of ISA (All thanks to college XD ISA, BTW, is a non-profit organization for Industry tech people, and to-be techies like me) kicks ass. Why? Because they keep you up to date with the most recent findings, research and development with technology. So yeah, I get E-mails from them, and so you can probably expect me to post occaisonal stuff. This particular article is probably worth a read and raised my eyebrows: Algae to Fuel To quote from the article "That slippery brown and green glop people slip on when wading a river, may soon help power vehicles." EDIT: Oh, and to add, here's some neat info about our planet Mercury: Probe Analyzes Mercury Edited by CEMP, Jan 17 2008, 10:16 PM.

"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death." — Monty Oum | |

TONIGHT at 7PM EST the International Space Station will be flying over at a magnitude -2.6, making this an extremely bright pass. It will look like a plane with landing lights on. The pass will last for 3 whole minutes! Look low on the horizon at 7PM in the SW. It will be high in the sky by the time it gets SE. The ISS will also be making a pass of magnitude -2.4 on February 1st at 6:07PM EST. For more information for the EASTERN time zone, go HERE. For those of you in different time zones, you'll just have to enter in your locale information. |

I don't know if you guys know about the dying spy satellite in orbit or not, but the US military will be shooting it down with a missile after the space shuttle Atlantis returns home on February 20th. The spy satellite malfunctioned shortly after deployment some time ago, and has been in a steadily decaying orbit. The military is shooting it to break it up into smaller chunks that are sure to burn up in atmosphere. Visit Heaven's Above or spaceweather.com for more details. The spy satellite is passing over many USA towns at dusk. Last night it passed near the Pleiadies in California. Keep a look out for a bang in the next week or so!

The military is planning on blowing up that spy satellite as it passes over the Pacific Ocean tomorrow. If you're on the Pacific coast, keep your eyes peeled! The eclipse was awesome. I got to see part of it (not the total eclipse, but pretty close) through a telescope, and I took a really long walk so I could see it unobscured by lights and buildings. It was also a really cold night, which meant that there weren't any clouds, and I could see not just the eclipse but the stars and the milky way. To top it all off, I got to see an honest-to-god falling star (or a meteor burning up in the mesosphere if you want to be a gearhead). Good night, all in all. |

We got it too, though only a partial view at around 5am. I unfortunately missed it, but I was able to find a picture of what it looked like from here: ![]() Edited by Outrack, Feb 21 2008, 02:07 AM.

Wow, I can't believe you were able to see it, Outrack! That's great! Pieboy, I'm glad you got to see it too! I had to go off the balcony of my hotel in the middle of a city, so I didn't see any stars. Thankfully the moon was easy to spot and not obscured by any buildings. Also, LAST NIGHT at 10:26 PM EST the US Navy shot down spy satellite 193! Spaceweather.com has video of it! Pieboy, are you sure you saw a meteor? It could've been that Aegis missile impacting the satellite, or the debris burning up in atmo! |

That would be pretty awesome, but I saw it close to eleven, and I'm nowhere near the west coast, so I'm doubtful. |
