This RP will be taking place in a large nebula, known as the Dune nebula, primarily for its looks. It is a nebula rich with minerals, which makes it a perfect site for miners, both independent and corporation-sponsored. The nebula is also, as of yet, unclaimed by any major government, due to reasons unknown. So the miners are slowly seeping in, along with explorers.

The nebula is also laden with mysterious derelict ship fragments. These are spread far and few, and range in size from smaller than a fighter to almost as big as a space station. Nobody knows why these ship fragments are there, but they are very old, and no doubt filled with goodies for anybody who has the fortune to stumble across one.

Now, back to the miners. Due to the value of the minerals in the nebula, lots of minor wars have been springing up all over the nebula. The independent miners are fighting the larger mining companies. The companies have an advantage of being well-funded, but the independent miners are very creative and sometimes have exotic ships or weapons to rely upon. Pirates have found these wars to be very convenient, as it allows them to come in during or after a battle, mop up, and carry off ship parts.

In the midst of all this are asteroid herders. Asteroid herders are harmless sentient animals that resemble large crystals. They float lazily throughout the nebula, feeding off the minerals and thriving in areas of rock and in the innards of derelict ships. However, they are stuck in the crossfire between the warring miners, and this puts them into a dilemma. Poachers also come to kill the asteroid herders and harvest the crystals, which are worth a fortune.

I'm doing this, probably with Solethen and maybe Daniel.
"Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It's us. Only us."

It seems pretty neat, seems very much like Homeworld to me though... :p
"Nothing... a shadow is nothing. It is merely a question not yet answered. We only fear the dark if we have no means of lighting our way.

Death comes to all, Morningstar. The world turns, the dawn comes... and under the light of the sun I shall slay giants."

It's all because of the derelict fragments, isn't it. I assure you, no junkyard dawgs or progenitor movers.

Besides, what's wrong with Homeworld? It's only the best space RTS in existence.
